Hi guys! Just found out were expecting. Very early but have no one else I can compare symptoms or questions with. Also thought it would be nice to follow pregnancies together. Expected due date should be the middle of March!

@SmileyT that’s so thoughtful, thank you for letting me know as I would have worried!

Cmclaughlin94 · 17/07/2020 05:59

Morning everyone,
I had my early scan yesterday and got to see my tiny little bean, heartbeat there and all in the right place so I'm very happy, but they couldn't give me a measurement because they told me I'm less than 5 weeks. But I have been tracking my periods for the past 5 years and I know that I am 6 weeks +6 days, but that's by going from the first day of last period which is how I was told to work out how far I am. I kinda understand that obviously the baby would be couple weeks less but now I don't know how to work out how far along I am.
I also thought that you can't see a heartbeat until 6-7 weeks??

Any ideas at all?
I'm so confused!

SmileyT · 17/07/2020 06:31

@Cmclaughlin94 you use the date of LMP to work out an estimated date before an ultrasound to date you, simple way is to add 2 weeks to your ovulation date, do you know when you ovulated? as if you have a longer than 28day cycle your date just from LMP will be off. But yes I'd agree that info is confusing as they say the earliest you can see a HB is just over 5weeks generally closer to 6 🤔 anything before 5 weeks and you'd only expect to see the gestation sac and a little ball of cells. Did you query this with them? x

Cmclaughlin94 · 17/07/2020 06:41

@smileyT
LMP is 30th may, I have been tracking for 5 years so I 100% know that I'm 6 weeks and 6 days by that, but they told me I'm less than 5 weeks for the size of the baby so that's why I'm lost. I didn't even think about it until I got home, to be honest i was feeling a whole range of things during the scan I didn't really process it properly until I got home.

SmileyT · 17/07/2020 07:12

@Cmclaughlin94 how long are your cycles? did you use the NHS calculator and put in length of cycle? Basically if you have a 28day cycle you'll be 4 weeks based on LMP but if your cycle is 35 days LMP will say you are 5 weeks when in fact you'll be dated 4 weeks because egg is fertilised at ovulation so that's the important date if that makes sense? x

Cmclaughlin94 · 17/07/2020 07:18

@smileyT cycles are 32 days, I think it kind of makes sense but I'm still confused. I think this will just be something I don't understand and will have to wait until dating scan to find out how far I am.
Thanks for the help though!

@Boredinthehouse12 @SazCat how are you both feeling today?xx

Phie04 · 17/07/2020 08:11

@Cmclaughlin94 hi, my LMP was 4th June and my cycles are also around 32 days. If you download a pregnancy app and input the data it should tell you how many weeks. Mine says im 5 weeks 4 days. Could it be you ovulated later than usual?

SazCat · 17/07/2020 08:21

@Sussexbysea I'm feeling OK, going to try and keep myself busy today to keep my mind off things. Still bleeding with occasional small clots. Period type tummy and back ache. Will pick up a year later I think see if it's gone fainter :(

How are you feeling?

Boredinthehouse12 · 17/07/2020 09:01

@Sussexbysea my boob sensitivity has become even less today, even when I press on them they are pretty much back to normal. I had period like paid a few days ago but didn’t think much about it. I read somewhere that you can MC without bleeding.

Although I haven’t bled yet I’m convinced something has gone wrong so I’m going to do another test shortly.

Hope you’re ok?

Sussexbysea · 17/07/2020 09:15

@SazCat you poor thing, I’m so sorry x

@Boredinthehouse12 I’m ok thanks. A miscarriage without bleeding is called a missed miscarriage. If you have one of those then test will usually come back positive and a scan will pick it up. You’ll also need some kind of medical intervention too. A friend of mine recently went through this and found out at her 12 week scan x

Boredinthehouse12 · 17/07/2020 09:30

@Sussexbysea thanks, I’ll probably call the GP or number on my midwife appointment letter to see what they suggest

@AnaBananas how are doing today?

AnaBananas · 17/07/2020 09:39

@Boredinthehouse12 yes, just give your GP or midwife a call, as it may ease your concerns. Fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about. I have heard of people who hardly experienced any symptoms in the first few weeks.

I’ve felt a bit nauseous this morning. But breast sensitivity has reduced unless I press down on them.

Boredinthehouse12 · 17/07/2020 09:43

@AnaBananas for sure, I’ll give them a call shortly, although I’m not convinced they can do much at such an early stage.

The nausea you’re experiencing is encouraging, seems like you’re on track!

maryberryslayers · 17/07/2020 12:27

Hi, hope it's ok for me to join? Got my bfp today Smile

Clara9 · 17/07/2020 12:56

Is it too early for morning sickness? I’m 4+1 and had to run to the loo after lunch today. Feel ok now, just a bit queasy! I thought this came along a bit later?!

Sussexbysea · 17/07/2020 13:11

@maryberryslayers welcome and congrats lovely. Any idea how far along you are?x

theruffles · 17/07/2020 13:28

Can I join too please? I think I'm almost 7 weeks and EDD is 5th March. This will be DC2 and has come as a massive shock!

We had fertility treatment for DD1 due to me having PCOS and I had come to the opinion that we wouldn't manage to conceive naturally since we had difficulties TTC DD1. I have long and irregular cycles so didn't think anything was odd about a missed period this time until I realised I had been feeling sick for almost 5 days and was being very snappy/upset about trivial things (my giveaways in my first pregnancy). I took a test just to put my mind at ease but didn't think there was any way I could be pregnant...and then it was positive!

I found out last week and I'm happy about it but also very scared and surprised. We wanted 2 DC ideally but I didn't expect it to happen yet. I know there's no ideal time! I am excited to be pregnant again - I loved being pregnant last time even with a lot of sickness and food aversion.

I keep getting hung up on things that I know we will work out in time, like will DD be OK about sharing a room when the time comes since we don't want to move house. Will we need a bigger car? Can we afford it? I know these kind of thoughts are entirely normal but I can't stop thinking about them. I'm nervous about something going wrong (which I'm sure is very normal too) so I'm trying to be positive and think good things that this DC is happy and healthy.

Sorry for the ramble but I'm not telling people yet so it helps to have some supportive people here who understand Smile

Sussexbysea · 17/07/2020 14:03

@theruffles congratulations! That’s amazing news. A friend of mine has the same struggles as you so I can sympathise with you.

I think we’re all in a state of shock. Not mater how long you plan for, when it actually happens you it’s a huge surprise.xx

Karanciri · 17/07/2020 14:04

Hello all,

I am going to tentatively post on here. I have had 2 positive tests (one today, one yesterday). I am 14DPO and due on today and thankfully no sign of AF! I am waiting on my CB digital tests to come before being confident!

We have been ttc for 6 months and this is our first!

theruffles · 17/07/2020 14:10

@Sussexbysea thank you. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling nervous, despite the excitement of hopefully a new little baby!

Headingtowardsforty · 17/07/2020 14:26

@theruffles you're definitely not alone! Spend my days second guessing myself and worrying about everything. Even though I have one child already.

@Sussexbysea how are you doing today?

Sussexbysea · 17/07/2020 14:39

@Headingtowardsforty im feeling good thank you. The morning sickness was full on this morning but nothing coming up.

I’m still of the opinion of it’ll be what it’ll be. I’m waiting for the midwife to call with my booking in appointment, hoping it’s not too much longer xx
