Hi guys! Just found out were expecting. Very early but have no one else I can compare symptoms or questions with. Also thought it would be nice to follow pregnancies together. Expected due date should be the middle of March!

Hey ladies - I was only taking pregnacare, is everyone else topping up with more folic acid?

Sussexbysea · 11/07/2020 16:31

@Nmvasey it depends what your BMI is. Mine is 32 so anything 31 and over requires additional folic acid

Nmvasey · 11/07/2020 16:37

ah thank you @Sussexbysea !

artyone · 11/07/2020 16:46

Oooh good tip, I didn't know you could do that.

bubblybon20 · 11/07/2020 16:58

@Nmvasey I'm only taking pregnacare! I will ask my midwife at my first appointment, as I have ceoliac, so unsure if I need to up my dosage! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Phie04 · 11/07/2020 18:19

Does anyone else feel fine and then all of a sudden feel nauseous? I'm yet to actually be sick and I'm 5 weeks ish. As well as this I wake up every morning feeling hungover, my boobs ache like hell, and I feel period like cramps. Today I feel like my whole lower abdomen is cramping and tensing up as if I've just done about 100 sit ups. Any one else feel this? Is it normal?

Sussexbysea · 11/07/2020 18:26

@Phie04 I get this! I get it if I sneeze too. It’s just your abdomen making room and preparing for your ever growing uterus. All great signs.

My heartburn is bad this time round. I’m going to ask for a prescription. Of gaviscon because I’m really going through the stuff

Phie04 · 11/07/2020 18:40

@Sussexbysea great thats for the reassurance!! I think im going to book a reassurance scan for the end of the month. Should be between 6 and 7 weeks by then.

Still doesn't feel real!! As well as all the pubs now opening and I can't even go lol! It's hard meeting up with family at the moment as they offer a glass of wine and I have to make up an excuse to refuse the offer. Can't wait to just tell them! We're going to use the images from the early scan to tell our families. Very surreal.

I’ve just ordered a clear blue dating test thingy so I can get more if a clue as to how pregnant I am. Not sure when to tell close friends or family, want to be sure all is ok first. Still doesn’t feel real.

Phie04 · 11/07/2020 19:19

@artyone I understand! I just want to find out har far along I am

Sussexbysea · 11/07/2020 19:26

@Phie04 I’m under a consultant and I think I’ll be getting lots of scans so I’ll hold off until the hospital give me my first appointment.

I can’t wait to tell parents, we’ll wait till around 12 weeks though. I want to people, not even my friends know

HeadShouldersKnees · 11/07/2020 19:43

Hi all can I join?
Just did a test and got a BFP after about 6 months trying. This is DC2. Our first is 18 months old.
I was sure I wasn't pregnant and only did a test as AF was a few days late (which never happens).
Last time I had so many symptoms by now. This time I don't have any! So that's freaking me out a bit but hopefully everyone is different. Last time I vomited daily from week 6 to week 20 so really hope I don't get that one 😂
Congrats to all so far xx

Sussexbysea · 11/07/2020 20:27

@HeadShouldersKnees welcome!!!! Congrats and welcome to the club xx

HeadShouldersKnees · 11/07/2020 20:32

@Sussexbysea thanks so much 🥰 can't believe it. I'm 38 so always worry that might hold me back. I txt my sister and told her as she kept telling me all week I looked exhausted (how nice!) so now she knows why! Won't tell anyone else until after 12 weeks but I'll get a private early scan about 7 weeks. Xx

2021Mam · 12/07/2020 00:42

Hi lovely ladies, can I join please? DH and I have been trying since Nov but due to this virus and my job (nurse) we had to spend a painful 11 weeks away from each other until 4 weeks ago. I got my BFP 10th July which makes me 4+3 and due around 17th March. We have booked a private early scan and I will be 6+5 as I'm super nervous as this is baby #1 ... hoping it'll put our minds at rest as I really want to enjoy this time! Xx

2021Mam · 12/07/2020 00:48

Ps. The only thing that was different this time around was that my nipples doubled in size and become darker in colour. That an feeling so tired! I was 2 days late when I decided to test.

Sussexbysea · 12/07/2020 07:16

@HeadShouldersKnees I really think age is just a number these days. So many more women are having children older now. I’m nearly 36 and I was 32 when I had my first.

HeadShouldersKnees · 12/07/2020 08:08

@Sussexbysea I really hope so. Ideally I'd love to have a 3rd and if all goes to plan this time I would be trying when I'm 40. I went for a private post c section check after my last and the doctor told me I had lots of eggs so not to panic so that certainly reassured me a wee bit.

HeadShouldersKnees · 12/07/2020 08:09

@2021Mam congrats! And what a lovely story after being reunited! Xx

Headingtowardsforty · 12/07/2020 08:13

@HeadShouldersKnees if it makes you feel better I'm 42, and my ds is 10, so age really is just a number.

Chickoletta · 12/07/2020 09:23

@HeadShouldersKnees - I’m 40 and this is my third. Quite a few older mums on here I think.

artyone · 12/07/2020 09:26

@HeadShouldersKnees & @2021Mam welcome to the March 2021 bus!

artyone · 12/07/2020 09:28

I'm in the middle with age, I'm 32 now, will be 33 by the time baby is born. I have 2 already so I did start reasonably young, sacrificing much chance of a career before I'm 40, but there you go! I have friends who have started at a range of ages from 19 to 41.

Nmvasey · 12/07/2020 09:44

Welcome to all the new BFPs :)

Where do we stand on painting ladies? I was halfway through painting my garden fence before finding out. I've read something's saying it's safe and then others where they're like just to be on the safe side don't do it. It's just your standard Cuprinol stuff - any thoughts?

Sussexbysea · 12/07/2020 09:48

@Nmvasey I would check the brand website for their FAQ’s. I’m sure it’ll be ok, I remember it not having a very toxic smell plus being outside will help too

I painted my kitchen when I was 8 months pregnant, my other half came home from work and I was up on the work tip painting away. He wasn’t very happy 🤣
