Pregnant after Missed Miscarriage MMC

Hi, starting this thread -very tentitively- as a graduation from the TTC after MMC group. A couple of us have begun to get BFPs and I would like a space to go though this with people who get why I'm so anxious - especially in the first trimester! Some of the other threads are so big and rather gung ho and I want to tread a bit gently right now!
I am only 4 weeks but have been getting progressively darker tests since 7-8dpo.
I'm becoming more certain this is not a chemical but I am being so cautious! Definitely too scared to work out a EDD yet!

@jessyclaire welcome! Sorry about your loss.. My experience with MMC was loss of symptoms which was around the time baby stopped growing.

It happened with this pregnancy around 7 weeks but scan at 9 showed heartbeat. Just try not to worry. Which is hard I know

@Smilingdonkey what a fab picture 😍 amazing that you are still BF I'm exhausted just existing 😂

@JessyClaireS I think a lot of us have gone through the same thing with lack of symptoms for a few days and it's so hard not to worry when that was a sign with a previous MMC. I think if you are really worried and the anxiety will be worse than waiting, it's worth speaking to your GP about a referral for a scan (although I know some hospitals aren't doing reassurance scans even with a GP referral) or to book a private scan, I've had one already and plan another 2 before my 12week scan 🙈

I'm stressing out today, I'm 5+4 now, and since the middle of last week have been having stabbing/fizzing pain on my left hand side, but nothing similar on my right. I keep worrying about ectopic. I was awake at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get to sleep as its really playing on my mind. No bleeding or shoulder tip pain which I know can also be signs. Am I being over dramatic? My husband told me to ring the EPU but I'm not sure if they would do anything as I'm still early?

Report
SpiderBrooch · 10/08/2020 08:26

@Workingmama1 ring your EPU if you are worried, the pains might not be anything to worry about but best to put your mind at rest. I had an ectopic last year (first symptom was bleeding). This time round, I had some early bleeding and pain on one side, and they scanned me at 5 weeks and were able to confirm that the pregnancy was not ectopic.

Hi all, hope you're all okay. I've had a very busy weekend and only just been able to catch up with it all!
I've already had to go up a cup size in bras, bloating is horrendous and I'm never comfortable and I'm only 6 weeks! Felt really sick yesterday. Was awful! But I'm so glad, because I never had that with the MMC, wasn't sick at all, only thing I had was horrendous bloating and huge nipples. So I'm taking it as a positive sign!
Hope all scans, etc, go well. And please ring your EPU, @Workingmama1!!

Thanks @spiderbrooch and @rosiejess91, I rang the epu and they said I need to be seen by a dr but to start with my gp. I have a phone consultation this morning. I'm finding this whole process really overwhelming, had a little cry this morning!

@Workingmama1 a few of us had similar pains around the same time as you, mine was my left side.. it was such a dull ache!! I was adamant i way having an ectopic. But I didn't have any shoulder pain or bleeding. It eventually worn off after a few days. If your concerned though, I would defo ring the EPU. X

Morning everyone! Hope you had a good weekend?

@Poppy10121 There are some good pregnancy yoga workouts on YouTube that are suitable for the first trimester - I like Sarah Beth Yoga but there are lots on there that are all slightly different. Other than that, I plan on just walking and light strength training (just because of my physio for my knees, which I absolutely have to keep up otherwise I'll go backwards with joints loosening during pregnancy etc)

@bubblybon20 I wouldn't use a doppler myself, I think it would just stress me out and cause even more anxiety if I didn't know what I was listening to or couldn't hear the heartbeat, etc. I also plan on possibly getting a private scan at around 16 weeks to break up the wait between 12 and 20 weeks.

@Workingmama1 Absolutely makes sense about your boobs not hurting as you're still BF - they're already doing what mine are gearing up to do, if that makes sense?
That is really insensitive of your husband - completely understand everyone needing to deal with it in their own way, but he needs to do so in a way that works for you both, not a way that makes you feel worse.
Glad you rang the EPU. ANNOYING that they've sent you to the GP first, surely they'll just send you to the EPU?! If all else fails, could you go get a private scan, just to get some reassurance without all of the back and forthing? Sending a hand hold, this whole thing is so intense and it's completely normal to find it overwhelming. We're here for you xx

@Smilingdonkey I agree that I think pregnancy straight after MC means your body is already a bit loosened up and grows a bit bigger - it definitely happened a lot faster this time than last for me.
What a GORGEOUS scan, I'm so happy for you! Amazing that you could see him or her moving and waving, too, bet that was quite emotional 💕 A good scan at 10 weeks is really positive - I'm sure I read somewhere that the odds of anything going wrong after a good 10 week scan are as low as after a good 12 week scan!

@Sakura54 Thanks for starting the list! Still no scan date for me yet so can't add to it but will of course be moving threads with everyone. The scans are all so soon, it's so exciting!!!

@ew1990 9+1 here and no booking appointment either, I'm going to chase tomorrow/Wednesday, too, it's getting a bit ridiculous now. Hoping my visit to the EPU on Fri might get my name kick started in their system 🤞🏼

@JessyClaireS Welcome, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm 9+1 today and my symptoms have lessened over the last few days, too (though the nausea is back with a vengeance today) - I believe it's quite normal. If it helps, I had a scan on Friday and all was well with baby despite reduced symptoms and a small bleed. I've got a private scan booked for Sunday with Window to the Womb, I haven't used them before but have heard great things. I used Ultrasound Direct last pregnancy and wasn't too impressed with them but others have had great experiences, so may have just been that one sonographer for me.

Hi everyone.. I feel like I've missed so much on this thread! Sorry if I miss anything when responding.

@Smilingdonkey congrats on your scan. Thankfully, my scan also went well yesterday and I measured exactly 10 weeks too so we are looking the same! I also saw baby doing lots of wriggling-a few leg kicks and waves 😍🥰

@ew1990 thats hilarious about you not wanting to go and give birth 😂 No I don't have any children yet, but I can imagine myself behaving similarly haha.

I'm with those of you who feel you've changed more quickly this time after a MMC. Even before I could test this time my boobs had changed and I had a little nausea... probably more nausea than I have now actually.

I'm also planning to start a little pregnancy yoga soon. I'm going to get back to walking every day as well... I'm also usually very active but the MMC and lockdown have thrown a spanner in the works.

@JessyClaireS welcome! Try not to worry, I hardly have any symptoms now but had a great scan yesterday. It took me weeks to book a private scan because it was at the private scan that I found out last time so I just couldn't bring myself to do it. However, I've had two now and they were so worth it!! Ive gone local this time and I love the sonographer, she is so understanding of my nerves and really reassuring. Last time we used Window to the Womb and they were great but its a little far for us. (Local one was closed last time due to lockdown).

@bubblybon20 I'm not going to use a doppler simply because I'm so anxious anyway I don't want anything else to add to that. The sonographer said yesterday that we may have been able to hear baby's heartbeat as you can after 10 weeks but as I was measuring 10 weeks exactly, she didn't want to stress my out any more if we couldn't hear it.

@WorkingMama1 I’m sure as SkyBlue said, the reason you’re not getting sore boobs is because yours are already in gear for what they need to do! Sorry you are finding the pains stressful, I think it’s definitely worth getting checked out for peace of mind. Maybe the EPU need a referral from the GP? Mine did the first time and then once you are on the system you can keep going back. Good luck xx

@Smilingdonkey what a beautifully clear pic :-)

@Skyblue20 thanks for the yoga tip, I’ll look her up! The class I normally do is very dynamic and lots of twists and bending so I can see why it is a bad idea now. Just don’t want to totally seize up :D

@Sakura54 thanks for starting the list, I am a way off joining it as I’ve not even booked with the midwife yet! Waiting til I get to 7 weeks… it’s exciting to see other people’s scans coming up though!

@danceM1 that’s an amazing scan, looks so cosy in there!

I nearly booked an early scan for the end of the month but then changed my mind, I’m hoping they have last minute availability when I do decide it’s time! Thinking I’ll book at 10 weeks if nothing changes.

Ahhh @DanceM1 that's so lovely! 💕 You can almost even see the little features of the face, so sweet.

@Poppy10121 I'd recommend keeping an eye on the bookings for the private scan - we ended up booking ours when we did as they were filling up really quickly (we also wanted to wait until last minute). I think it's busier than usual at the mo (around here at least) with partners not being allowed in to most NHS scans, so just worth keeping an eye on availability if you have an idea of which date you want. Ours was booking up 2/3 weeks in advance.

@dancem1, lovely scan picture! Glad all is well 😊

I spoke to the gp who then spoke to epu and I'm now waiting to see a doctor there after basic checks. I've had to be isolated in a room on my own as I mentioned I've had diarrhoea (although I'm pretty sure it is due to nerves as I get a dodgy tummy when I'm nervous!). One of the ladies in the waiting room has been here over two hours so it could be a long wait, and I stupidly didnt have lunch before I came!

At least I'm actually in epu and have had blood pressure etc checked, never even saw epu or anyone other than a sonographer last time!

@dancem1 lovely picture.

@workingmama hope you get seen soon and are not waiting for ages.

How's everyone feeling. I'm ok. No more blood. I feel a bit daft going to the EPU on Wednesday now when it's probably nothing. I have had some back ache but I cant decide wether it's a period type pain or just general aches.

@skyblue20 I got intough with the midwives not Friday gone the one before and they said they would ring me last week and they never did

@Workingmama Hope the wait isn't too long - at least they're seeing you, hopefully you will get some reassurance.

Ref midwife appts - I had to chase and chase to get mine - finally had booking in appt at 9+3 but have had no bloods or anything which surprises me as it's twins. I think the disruption to services for pregnant women has been appalling to be honest!

@jennyM I agree. Normally booking in is done at 8 weeks at my trust. Where you get bloods and urine checked. Your notes and your prescription exemption form thing.

I'm going to chase them on Wednesday if everything's ok at the scan coz I'll be 10 week on Thursday and it's normally done between weeks 8-10. Hopefully my scan will still be at 12ish weeks and not 14

It's not ectopic! Too early to see a baby or heartbeat but could see yolk and egg sack in the right place. 2 days behind based on LMP but about right as I think I ovulated cd 16/17. They have booked me in for 2 weeks to check progress.

Asked if I've seen the midwife yet and I said no I've been a bit scared to register, the sonographers then slightly worryingly said you may as well wait until we've seen you again before you do!

Smilingdonkey · 10/08/2020 14:31

@workingmama1 this is exactly what happened to me and you are working to the same timeline! When I went back for the second scan they referred me then and their to the midwives ... I felt more comfortable waiting too 😊 xxxx
