Thank you everyone for your replies!!

I understand it might not be GD they did say they doubted it because every urine sample has been sugar free throughout my pregnancy.
My partner is 6ft7 so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a big baby, I’m only 5’3 🙈 if it isn’t GD and still measuring big at my 37week scan are they likely to bring him early or make me wait till he’s ready to come? Just trying to prepare myself, If that’s even possible 😂
Really appreciate all the replies x

My bump has been measuring almost exactly on 50th centile every time so no extra scans for me either.
20-40 weeks without a scan is such a long time, I ended up caving and went for a private scan at 31 weeks where baby was measuring exactly 4lbs.

sel2223 · 29/06/2020 11:28

I've heard that measuring the bump isn't particularly accurate but how accurate are the growth scans when it comes to weight? Just curious.

Mammyofasuperbaby · 29/06/2020 11:30

Hi ladies, I've be on and off the threads very sporadically due the chaos of a toddler with ASD and my own ill health.
I'm due 15th August and time is dragging.
Currently 33+2 and I only made it this far in my pregnancy with my son.
Frankly I'm all over the place I have my bp checked twice a week and I've been treated for severe anemia which meant I kept of collapsing. I'm now also having painful brackston hicks contractions, they are on and off every few hours but the stop me in my tracks. Frankly I'm sick of being in pain and ill but also thankful that my son is staying put for now.
I think my mood is bad currently as the 27th was the 1 year anniversary of our last baby's birth (mmc) which was severely traumatic and then today is the same gestation that my son was born and both have left me with PTSD. I will say though it is so nice to read the posts of people who are having a much better time of it

Mammyofasuperbaby · 29/06/2020 11:30

Wow, that was negative. Sorry

BabyG08 · 29/06/2020 11:32

@sel2223 growth scans can be out by 2lb + or -

So it’s really hard to actually gauge how big baby will be

cannotmakemymindup · 29/06/2020 11:37

@Mammyofasuperbaby don't worry you obviously needed to vent!!

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 11:38

@BabyG08 I don't think they will necessarily induce early if they think it's a big baby in that it's just big rather than because of GD (as with GD I know they just get bigger and bigger quite quickly) but there may be conversations on whether you can manage a vaginal birth if it's say 10lb plus. A few people have told me that birthing a bigger baby (not as big as a 10lb'er but 8s and 9s) is actually quicker and easier because the babies weight and gravity means each push they have more weight to press down and out. Not sure if that's true or they're just trying to give sympathy 😂

mable88 · 29/06/2020 11:58

Well the drama continued overnight - hubby deteriorated to the point where morphine wasn’t touching the pain and ended up being taken into theatre at 2am so have the appendix out. Apparently they got it out just before it burst. Have spoken briefly to him but I think he must be sleeping now. Can’t get through to anyone on the ward so I’m not really sure what’s going on, what type of surgery he had, when he might be able to come home... thanks goodness my mum is here otherwise I think I would be utterly all over the place! Sad

Mummapenguin20 · 29/06/2020 12:00

Hey ladies im so excited my last baby (7 years ago) was prem and today we have made it to where she came in our pregnancy that means if this monster decides hes coming now i wont panic quite so much hes been threatning to come since 27 weeks!

Also birthing balls have you ladies started using yours? I didnt have one with my others but have spd this time and find siting on that helps a little xx

Firstmummytobe · 29/06/2020 12:11

@Mummapenguin20 yes I’ve been using my birthing ball for a good few weeks now as it really helps with the pains I’ve been getting, BUT do not bounce on your ball as it can bring in premature labour!! (I was warned about it in the hospital) instead I just do big circles and rock backwards and forwards on it and it tends to relieve any pressure from the babies head being so low and near t your bladder / pelvis.

Something20 · 29/06/2020 12:12

@kittykat20 my little one is breech too currently! I'm 33 weeks tomorrow so I know there's still plenty of time for her to flip but I'm researching everything already haha.
She keeps trying as her head is always under my ribs on the left and occasionally it will come down to the side on my right but then just goes straight back up haha!
She's not measuring as big as your little one but she is measuring big and I'm not a very big person haha so I'm hoping she isn't stuck like this already!

Hope everyone is well :)

Firstmummytobe · 29/06/2020 12:16

Got my growth scan tomorrow at 35+4 with the head of fetal medicine to check on little man’s bowel. I will find out tomorrow wether I will be induced on the 17th of July still or wether they are going to bring it forward a week to the 10th July.
It’s just hit me that I could be getting induced in 11 days and if not 11 then it’s 18🙈🙈🙈🙈

Mummapenguin20 · 29/06/2020 12:21

Ah fab i did see doing the figure of 8 helps turn babies dunno if it really works tho. I tend to just sit and rock lol. Hoping to keep him in a few more weeks yet xx

How many weeks are you now? And yes I think I saw that on a YouTube video the figure 8 is good for turning baby! My little one has been head down and stayed that way since 29 weeks😂 I guess he just got comfortable!!
Newmama29 · 29/06/2020 12:23

I wouldn’t worry about growth & measuring big. My friend was told she was big & gonna have a huge baby, didn’t induce her until 13 days overdue & her LO came out as a 7lber. It’s all guesswork, there’s no accuracy in it!

@Mammyofasuperbaby I’m so sorry you’re feeling so down. Having suffered a loss I understand the overwhelming feelings of anxiety & struggling to accept/believe that this baby is healthy. At least you can take comfort knowing that every day is closer to them being born healthy. You’re not alone in your journey & this has been one of the nicest threads to be a part of, every woman on here has their own experience & challenges & supports one another. I’ve taken great comfort on the advice given here 💗

With regards to birthing balls, any specific one that people recommend or are they all pretty much the same? Having a lot of trouble with my hips & back so feel it’s time to invest in one of these

cannotmakemymindup · 29/06/2020 12:45

@mable88 Sorry your DH got worse and had to have the surgery. Hope he was able to have the normal key hole surgery. I'm sure like you said he's sleeping, I imagine his body needs the rest. At least you'll be getting lots of sympathy off him in a few weeks time for the birth!!

Im 33+3 eeekkk. Little man has been head down since 27 weeks and is currently back to back he does a lot of spinning in my pelvis feels like hes trying to drill out some days 😂😂hopfully i can keep him cooking a few more weeks xx

Firstmummytobe · 29/06/2020 13:02

@Newmama29 I got mine from sports direct for around £11 which I think is quite cheap! It’s not even called a birthing ball the one I got to be honest just a regular gym/yoga ball 😊

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 13:03

Has anyone suffered with SPD/Pelvic girdle pain?

I've started having over the last few days a terrible pain when I walk or get up from sitting etc that feels right on the underneath of my pelvis on the left (the part of the pelvic bone right next to where the action happens 🙈) and wondered if this could be it? I've tried yoga to try and release my hips but doesn't reach that idea. I don't know if it's normal as my pelvis is opening and getting wider ready for baby? But I'm limping like a 90 year old now!

Newmama29 · 29/06/2020 13:26

@Firstmummytobe thank you! I’ll have a look on there & amazon to see what I can get, love a bargain lol!

@squashie34 I have had terrible pelvic girdle pain for the last few weeks! I have pain in at my groin like I’ve been riding a bike for too long & can’t open my legs too wide 😭 getting in & out the car & bed is a feat! I’m really struggling sleeping on my sides too as my hips just ache! I’ve done the whole pillow in between legs, behind back etc but can’t shift it! Going to speak to my midwife at my next app, when I look on nhs it talks about tens machines, baths etc so gonna look into them. I’m desperate for a water birth so hoping I can push for that by using this has an excuse lol!

Luna321 · 29/06/2020 13:37

Hi, sorry been a bit rubbish keeping up with this thread at the moment.

Another breech baby here too! Been trying all sorts to get them to turn but finding it hard to do some of the exercises as they make my heartburn worse. Currently laying here with an ice pack at the top of my bump 🙈

I got my ball from sports direct too, I'm sure it wasn't more than £11/10. Search for exercise/yoga ball they are basically the same thing. It great for leaning over on too.

Visitors we haven't got much choice but to be a bit laid back about it as we're going to need child care for our 3yr old and if I end up with a section I think my husbands going to struggle having sole responsibility of him for how ever many weeks it takes me to recover so will need the grandparents to take him off our hands every so often. Our son means well but is a very active and boisterous little boy so I'm not going to be able to do much at all around him through fear I might hurt my scar. It makes me anxious just thinking about it 😩

JMill13 · 29/06/2020 13:37

@firstmummytobe honestly didn't know not to bounce on the ball yet 🙈🙈 thank you. I'll go back to just sitting and rocking 😂

Firstmummytobe · 29/06/2020 13:43

@JMill13 bouncing on the hall opens your pelvis and causes the Baby to descend, and if your not careful it can perforate the amniotic sack causing your waters to break, or it can also cause a lot of pressure on the cervix and cause it to dilate leading to contractions!! It’s very dangerous apparently especially if you are already carrying quite low. Good tip for when your over your due date or already in labour though!! 😂😂xx

JMill13 · 29/06/2020 13:57

@firstmummytobe oh god, definitely don't want that to happen at 32 weeks. I've only bounced a few times tbf as seems to be the best way to dislodge feet from my ribcage, will have to find a new method now.
