@Katbaby I didn't feel safe at work post 28 weeks (nurse) and wasn't happy with what management were asking of me and sp im off on sickness until 36 weeks. Best thing I've ever done. Especially as I live in Liverpool.

Katbaby · 13/10/2020 08:42

@Nic2908 I'm surprised they didn't just send you home anyways with you being a nurse I thought they were doing that with nurses and other health workers.

@Bumble84 is it the normal pregnancy risk assessment you mean or are they supposed to do a covid specific one?

Think I might go on the sick if I don't feel comfortable!

calipoppy · 13/10/2020 08:49

Morning! Don't know if any of you have amazon prime but I just got an email to say it's prime day, had a look and some of the baby deals are amazing! Definitely worth having a look Smile

Bumble84 · 13/10/2020 08:59

@Katbaby there wouldn’t necessarily be a covid specific one but the pregnancy risk assessment should take covid into account.

@Nic2908 I’m also surprised they didn’t give you alternative work. My work can force you on Mat leave if you are off sick 4 weeks prior to your official leave date if it is pregnancy related so I’d maybe check that policy in case you get a surprise. Depends on the reason for your sick leave though.

Bumble84 · 13/10/2020 09:00

@calipoppy I’ve just signed up for amazon prime to get a couple of Christmas presents for people. I’ll need to have a look at the baby stuff! Better get some work done first right enough 😂😂

calipoppy · 13/10/2020 11:09

@Bumble84 I just shared my screen in a meeting and accidentally shared the bottle steriliser I had open on amazon 🙈 good move getting your work done first! 😅

Bumble84 · 13/10/2020 13:15

@calipoppy 😂😂 it’s to be expected surely! I’ve just bought the angelcare bath support for £16.50, it’s the cheapest I’ve seen it. Also the cheapest I’ve seen the perfect prep machine but we got one of those gifted to us.

Nic2908 · 13/10/2020 15:34

@Bumble84 I was down tonstart maternity from 36 weeks anyway as I wanted a break to relax before baby was here so that rule won't apply. Work did find someone alternative but I wasn't happy with their plan as I was still at risk and coming into contact with people all day every day. I was supposed to be on covid suspension from 28 weeks however the week before my trust changed its protocol and told me I would not be at home. Was horribly stressful but right now I'm safer so defo the right decision for my circumstances.

@Katbaby I think there should be a covid risk assessment especially with you being in your 3rd trimester.

LoveSunshine01 · 13/10/2020 15:46

@mycrazylife85 yep no idea about what a babygro is. Sleepsuits are the ones with long sleeves and feet and apparently some of them have inbuilt scratch mitts...?

I saw on another thread that it is good to get lots of sleepsuits and not to bother with socks cos they pull them off but SO many of the baby clothes don't have seet so I'm starting to doubt that.... but our house is fairly cold and I don't want him to get cold feet! Thinking too much? 🤔😑

Bumble84 · 13/10/2020 16:14

@Nic2908 that does sound like a stress you don’t need. Glad you got it sorted eventually and you can relax a bit now. I just mentioned it in case you weren’t aware, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been caught out with things like that!

Nic2908 · 13/10/2020 17:47

@Bumble84 especially the NHS. Employers can be really cheeky cant they.

31 weeks today. Feels like the countdown has began and I can say 9 weeks to go instead Grin

Rnic1x · 14/10/2020 09:45

Morning girls 💖 hope you're all doing ok.

I keep forgetting about this page, blame baby brain 😂
Can't believe we're almost there. It's mad to think it only feels like yesterday we were all taking loads of tests to make sure!

Just over 9 weeks left for me, pretty much set now just a few more bits for hospital bag 🙈 how are you all getting on with organising?

Xxx

Hello @Rnic1x
I'm also 9 weeks, 8 on Sunday. Had a good week but having a not so good day today. I had a brilliant sleep on the first time in months, still got up twice then at 6 but I finally had some deep sleep (according to my watch) However, I woke up with an achy bump just at the bottom by the left. It's the side my sciatica is on but I wonder if it is the weight of my bump lying on my side.

I spent this morning googling to see if it is round ligament pain. It's been weeks since I had it I can't remember. I know I shouldn't google. It's like an occasional throbbing or a stab. Im not peeing anymore than (my new usual) and my back ache is in the same place as usual.

I'm off to the chiropractor later anyhow so hopefully my sciatica can be addressed if not anything else.

Another day of slight worrying but I'm trying to be better at not worrying so much. I'm WFH and have been fairly inactive today. I'm just not feeling it. 🤣

Think I'll look to pack my hospital bag about week 34. Gotta sort a pram out also 😳 😂

makingababy · 14/10/2020 15:30

Hi all and @Rnic1x
10 weeks today for me - it’s crazy to think that’s the count down as I remember being excited to hit the 10 weeks’ gone mark!

I was getting stressed a couple weeks ago because I’d hardly sorted anything out but I’ve done a lot of online shopping and feel a lot better now. I still need to sort a few bits out like crib sheets and nappies, but it’s nothing I couldn’t sort with Amazon prime within a few days if I needed to. I’ll also need to hope that the pram and car seat arrive when they’re due - something to panic about later 😂

@Mycrazylife85 I’m planning to do hospital bag around wk 34/35 too.

I still need to wash the clothes and towels etc. I can’t get over how cute some of the clothes are - it makes it so real to think there will be a tiny person to fill those clothes up fairly soon!

Sorry to hear about aches and pains and hope everyone is doing ok otherwise xx

ElsaCC · 15/10/2020 11:51

@Mycrazylife85 I'm with you on the pain at the bottom of of bump. Mine started on the right a couple of weeks ago and now its on the left too. A sharp stabby pain. I'm leaving work earlier than I wanted because of it too but I work in a fast paced restaurant and spend the whole day on my feet.
Planing to start my hospital bag next week to see if there's anything else I need to buy and all that.
I think I'll use my time at home to cook up some meal into batches and put them in the freezer so I don't have to worry about cooking for the first few days baby is here.
Anyone out there pregnant with second baby willing to give any practical advice on how to prepare to better cope with the first few days/weeks? 😬

Katbaby · 15/10/2020 12:19

Morning ladies

Eek I'm excited as I have a big delivery of all my nursery furniture, pram, crib etc all arriving tomorrow and I cannot wait!

Also starting my hypnobirthing tomorrow 🤞🤞 and managing to do a face to face class which I much prefer as I really can't focus on zoom and would lose interest

@ElsaCC I plan on batch cooking on my first week off, and also getting the car valeted as we take our dog in the car when we go out walking and although we have a dog hammock in the back he still manages to get muddy paws in places 🤔🤣

I was thinking of starting a list for hospital bag, maybe look to start packing around week 32/33. Maybe a bit early but I'm keen🤣

Happyasbarry · 15/10/2020 20:27

@ElsaCC hi! I'm a lurker. Pregnant with no.2 and due Xmas day. First baby I had a slow cooker, Cook and take away most nights. But I also put on weight. This time I am preparing at least 10 family meals in foil trays and signed up to Gusoto for their 10 min meals. Then I'll replace these at weekends. It isn't too bad, it is a really nice time. Tin of biscuits for guests was a must, though right now not so important. Look for baby groups like Hartbeeps, Baby Sensory, free church ones and free council run ones now. I started going to around three a week at 6 weeks, post jabs, some mums go from birth. Found it helped with loneliness and got me off the sofa. Find your local swim school for babies as waitlist might already be starting in your area, we moved and in London all booked up, Surrey there was space. Clothes wise lots of cheap boring sleep suits for home and a couple of nice outfits for pics with the grandparents etc. Hospital pack double the clothes you think you'll need incase you are kept in. Wear dark pjs for labour plus a spare set. Um have a tea/wine station in kitchen set up so guests can make their own. Oh and blanket knitted with holes in until they are big enough for a sleep bag. Um, think that is all for the first few weeks, oh I did insist that one night a week my husband took us out for dinner and he did all the nappies etc so I got a date night and a break plus a reason to put nice clothes on. Plus if like me I had a cheese and pate feast pretty shortly after leaving hospital...honestly the first few weeks are so lovely. You won't sleep much and you'll be googling loads but just the best time. Bit of a ramble!!

loobeelou · 15/10/2020 20:42

@ElsaCC I agree, batch cook and stock up your freezer beforehand. Things that are easy to defrost and heat up will come in handy. One less thing to think about.

Also, if your choosing to breastfeed, you will want plenty of snacks readily available. That and water!

Bumble84 · 16/10/2020 14:31

I’ll definitely be batch cooking as well. Bit worried I’m going to look like one of those panic buyers when I buy 1kg of mince but in reality we’re just prepping for a baby!

The tiredness has hit me a bit today for the first time, maybe it was just a bad sleep right enough.

loobeelou · 17/10/2020 12:52

I hear you on the tiredness @Bumble84. Some days I'm ok, others I'm completely drained.

30 weeks today, nearly the home stretch!

Mycrazylife85 · 18/10/2020 09:53

32 weeks today for me. I have the midwife Thursday too. Got to talk about peri massage and the oils for that. I'm cringing at the thought of trying to do it already. Some oils have eucalyptus in... sounds a bit 😳 to me. Think I'd rather a plain one if I'm going to try

Also, randomly I've noticed that despite drinking my 2 litres, I am getting one massively dark wee a day. First few times it panicked me. I've noticed it's about 5 hours after taking my iron tablet so looked at that and it appears it could be a 'thing' when taking them 😂 I'm going to bring that up too. I hate it as I always try to make sure my pee is clear for reduction of infections. So random!

loobeelou · 20/10/2020 15:12

How is everyone doing? I had an iron infusion this morning, should be feeling better in a couple of days. Fingers crossed🤞🏼

Also had the flu jab, I'm a walking pin cushion 😂

SettyBuarez · 20/10/2020 16:47

Hi everyone, hope you're all well! I'm 32+4 now, which is a bit scary! The big stuff is mostly sorted, just need to finish organising the nursery.

Hope you feel better soon @loobeelou!

I'm full of cold at the moment, at least I hope it's just a cold. Had a covid test yesterday so just waiting on the results now. Bit annoying as I had to miss the pregnancy yoga class I started last week.

Yellowbeansontoast · 20/10/2020 17:22

@loobeelou hope you feel better soon!

Had my 32w appointment yesterday and midwife thinks baby is head down and 3/5 engaged Blush bit of a shock after I've spent last 2 weeks worrying bubs was transverse! Still not completely convinced to be honest, mostly as I can feel and see two large bumbs either side of my belly, can't quite figure out how baby would manage that if their head was down?? Also, I thought an engaged head was quite obvious in terms of all the pressure on bladder etc. Can any of you non-first timers shed any light?

Anyhow, decided to have a private scan on Friday to put my mind at rest (and so that I feel like I can stop doing those funny spinning babies inversions!). Partner is super excited as it'll be his first time seeing baby!

How is everyone else getting on? Hope your babies are being less awkward!

loobeelou · 20/10/2020 20:32

Thank you 😊

@Yellowbeansontoast I could never tell which way DS was and I'm still none the wiser now with baby 2 😂

I don't remember my doctor said DS engaged sorry, he was 10 days late. Towards the end I was peeing a lot though so maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️ (sorry TMI)
