Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

We got the drawers for the furniture built up and I couldn’t help myself and went ahead and washed all the stuff we have. We’ve not bought all that much right enough as we don’t know what we’re having and I’ve found it harder than I thought I would to get gender neutral stuff!!

Bumble84 · 06/10/2020 16:18

@Yellowbeansontoast I’m no expert on employment law but if your employer is basically saying you aren’t allowed to work it doesn’t seem like it would be legal to not pay you. Have you checked with anywhere else, maybe citizens advice or something?

loobeelou · 06/10/2020 19:29

@Yellowbeansontoast thanks for the tip. I am already taking iron tablets, I have been for a few weeks. I am at the dr on Friday so I'll mention it then 😊

calipoppy · 07/10/2020 09:56

@Bumble84 I've had the same problem with trying to find gender neutral clothes! I was really surprised how few there are. Have you found anywhere good? So far I have had the most success with H&M but still quite limited!

Bumble84 · 07/10/2020 10:46

@calipoppy I know, me too. Especially since we have meant to have become a more gender non conforming society. Not for babies apparently!

I bought a pack of plain white sleepsuits from M&S for hospital and a couple of things from Sainsbury’s. But apart from that it has been a struggle. I guess it stops me going crazy and buying a million things!

viixie · 07/10/2020 11:09

Have you tried eBay for gender neutral outfits? I always select the "new with tags" and Item location "UK only" option but quite often people are selling nice unisex bits on there.

GrowingBaby2 · 07/10/2020 12:02

@Bumble84 Annoyingly I find the slightly more expensive shops tend to have better unisex options. John Lewis Sleepsuits I found fantastic first time around and I've got all mine in the loft ready for my next little one on its way.

I'd really rate Lindex too. They don't have many physical stores, but their clothes are gorgeous, usually come up quite big so last for ages and have lots of unisex things from newborn to much older too. Often get things for my toddler from there still. Their pyjamas also have two-way zips which is a winner for middle of the night changes!

Hi ladies, anyone else been hit with extreme fatigue in the 3rd trimester? I'm doing the absolute bare minimum lately and can barely keep my eyes open, get exhausted after the smallest of task 😩 maybe this is pay back for all the energy I had in the first and second trimester 😂

Also when does everyone plan to pack their hospital bag? And if you have already what are some essentials that I should be packing?

Hope everyone is doing well 💜

loobeelou · 08/10/2020 17:07

I packed my bag around week 34/35 last time. That was when my app told me to do it! I might wait a bit longer this time, DS was 10 days late so expecting to go over again.

On another thread, someone posted how they had put their baby clothes for hospital into outfits (a vest, sleepsuit and hat) and put them into food bags and labelled them based on the size. I thought that was a good idea to make it easier at the hospital.

Nic2908 · 08/10/2020 19:15

I've not packed my hospital bag but started moving things to one side as I pick up tips on here... I've seen the sandwhich bag idea too which is something I'm going to try and do.

John lewis have lovely gener neutral as do next. Marks and spencer seem to have more online than they do in store I've noticed.

@catnip99 I have good days and bad days, the bad days are usually followed up by my tummy looking bigger so must be baby have a growth spurt maybe and taking all my energy?? I have no idea.

loobeelou · 11/10/2020 18:19

So it turns out the iron tablets I've been taking aren't enough and I've been booked in to have an iron infusion next week. The iron tablets did the job with DS but if it helps me feel less drained I'm all for it! Fingers crossed!

Got a prescription for flu jab as well. More needles 😂

Hope you are all doing ok. Nearly into single digits for weeks remaining, I'm guessing some of you already are! Nearly there 😊

Mycrazylife85 · 11/10/2020 21:24

I'm definitely in the fatigued camp. Today had been a write off. It's frustrating as all I want to do is sleep, but lying and sitting causes back ache, so I try to not sit too long or sleep. I didn't achieve anything other than a bit of washing until teatime. I look at our garden that desperately needs TLC and feel awful. I can't do anything out there for the back ache, and spine ache I'll get after. Anyone else's spine hurt by their bra strap? It's savage.

I've got iron tablets too. I thought the dose was quite high as I was only a little under. They prescribed me 305mg twice a day. Does that seem about right. I thought it was maybe wrong it was so high. I hope the intravenous helps you soon.

9 weeks today for me and just back from holiday (UK) I hadn't really done a lot and now all of a sudden I feel I need to get more prepared

loobeelou · 12/10/2020 07:02

@Mycrazylife85 my tablets are 100mg and I take them once a day. I don't know how low my iron levels were/are. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've not had pain in my spine, maybe mention it to you midwife or GP? Hope you feel better.

Mycrazylife85 · 12/10/2020 07:19

@loobeelou 100mg does seem very low also. How there can be such disparities 💁🏻‍♀️ I've self referred through to the physio and have some back exercisers but no-one seems too concerned. Just another pregnancy ache. 😆

I hope you feel better soon also.

Up 3 times again last night. I'm pooped.

Yellowbeansontoast · 12/10/2020 07:24

@loobeelou mine are 400mg twice a day! Been on them for ~3 weeks now and my Hb is finally creeping back into normal ranges albeit still pretty low. 100mg definitely doesn't sound like much, hopefully the transfusion helps :)

How is everyone doing? 31 weeks today and got a bit freaked out that my week count down is in single digits now!

Katbaby · 12/10/2020 08:46

Morning girls 😊

Sorry to hear some of you are having a nightmare with iron levels. I'm really starting to get sharp hip pains and some days my bump feels so tight like overly full! Can be quite painful

What's everyones work situation like? I work in a customer facing environment and customers just don't know how to social distance and I'm starting to get concerned but not sure if I have any rights now I'm in 3rd trimester?

29 weeks today!

Mycrazylife85 · 12/10/2020 09:21

I've been working from home exclusively from 28 weeks now, 31 weeks so far for me. I work in Local Authority so an able though. I'm grateful for it. What type of customer facing role do you do? Can work out more measures in place to stop customers getting so close?

calipoppy · 12/10/2020 10:06

Morning everyone! 31 weeks for me today too, it's suddenly feeling like time is moving so fast! I also have zero energy and also no enthusiasm for work now the countdown is on until mat leave!

@Katbaby I don't know what the rules are but it might be worth speaking to your midwife about it? Im sure you can't be the only person in this position and surely as part of your workplace risk assessment this would come up too?

How many newborn size clothes has everyone bought? I read really conflicting advice online, I've got about 15 sleepsuits/onesies, 9 long sleeve bodysuits and 8 short sleeve. Is that enough?! They're all slightly different sizes I've noticed too as they're from different shops!

loobeelou · 12/10/2020 11:37

Thanks @Mycrazylife85 and @Yellowbeansontoast, no wonder my iron tablets have not been touching the sides. The joys of pregnancy, it will all be worth it! 😂

@calipoppy it sounds like a good amount, it's difficult to know what size you will need until baby arrives.
When DS was born he was 7lb14 and 51.5cm, he fit into Asda George tiny baby and first size. I found going off of the length rather than weight worked better. The difference between brands is crazy!

Katbaby · 12/10/2020 11:55

@Mycrazylife85 I work in a bank so can't do my job from home. Starting to stress me out a bit. 8 weeks left to work before my leave! Spoke to my manager today who said about measures I can take myself but not really a lot I can change.

@calipoppy I mentioned it to my consultant at my growth scan on Friday who didn't really clarify much - seeing midwife tomorrow so I will ask her too!

Nic2908 · 12/10/2020 16:15

Guys in having a moment and feeling very overwhelmed. Going to start washing all the baby clothes but I'm worried I've bought all the wrong sizes. The main selection is upto one month so varying sized from 8-10lb. Then I have 3 baby grows in newborn and a packet of vests in new born but nothing in 0-3. I'm not panicking that everything is going to be too small. What sizes have you guys bought??

calipoppy · 12/10/2020 16:51

Ah @Nic2908 try not to worry I keep having these moments too! Just do whatever you feel like will calm you down even if it seems silly!
I also didn't have much 0-3 but I have just this weekend bought a few essentials, not many but same as you I thought what if nothing fits! I think it's very unlikely but they'll grow into them anyway so it's not a waste and it calmed me down!

loobeelou · 12/10/2020 17:51

When DS was born he was 7lb14 and he fit into tiny baby (6lb) and first size for a few weeks. I think it's because babies tend to lose weight in the first few days and then put it back on. The 0-3m were too long.

Mycrazylife85 · 12/10/2020 20:16

@Nic2908 sane here. Just got back from holiday and now I'm in full on getting prepared mode. Up until this point we've not done a lot.

I've got first size vests. No sleeve and short sleeve, and newborn baby grows/ sleepsuits. I also have some 0-3 months somewhere. My friend suggested I pick up a pack of early baby but I can't get my head around having a baby that'll be that small. Even though I'm not big.. 😂

Sainsbury's 25% off is looming, I think it's the 2Oth, and they have so many nice things. I'll be buying up then.

I'm a little stumped as to when I'd use long sleeved vests, with a baby grow also. FTM issues 💁🏻‍♀️ I also have no idea what the difference is between sleepsuits and babygrows 🤣

Bumble84 · 12/10/2020 21:22

@Katbaby have your work shown you their risk assessment that they’ve done for you? If not I’d ask to see it.

I’ve been working at home since March! All colleagues were but they started going out to do visits but I was told that I was to stay at home. I do still have work to do right enough.

Have a look at the royal college of midwives recommendations. They do say that after 28 weeks you need to be extra careful re social distancing. I’d raise this with your employer.
