Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

Whoops meant to say our Nct is on zoom so might be worth seeing if they still have any space?

loobeelou · 23/09/2020 18:15

I had a birth preparation appointment before DS was born and it also covered a few things for when baby is here (breastfeeding etc). I found it really useful, not sure what we'd discuss this time around 🤔

I can't remember when I sorted my hospital bag with DS, I think it might have been around the 30 - 32 week mark. He was 10 days late so I'm not in such a hurry 😂

Helski123 · 23/09/2020 18:21

I'm doing the NCT antenatal classes on zoom but they're not til end of November! Feels like ages away yet. Heard mixed reviews about them but OH is quite keen so thought we'd just go with it. Not planning hospital bag yet either, maybe in another month or so.

Bumble84 · 23/09/2020 20:47

@calipoppy you and me both! I just didn’t feel comfortable with it so I cancelled. The teacher is going to try and get one set up online for next week but if she can’t I’ll be looking for some other ones.

I understand that they are legally allowed to now but it didn’t seem right to me to have all those vulnerable women in one room together for a couple of hours, even sitting 2m apart!

makingababy · 24/09/2020 11:42

We have NCT booked for November as well. It was meant to be in person when I booked it but was moved to Zoom in the last week or so. I’d personally rather do it face to face as I have to stare at Teams all day for work anyway, and I liked the idea of actually meeting some other parents to be in real life. Oh well!

We have the exact same situation, gutted it won't be face to face

Hi everyone hope you don't mind me jumping in mid chat but I was just wondering has anyone had their flu vaccine while pregnant before??

My doctors have just text me my appointment for Oct 3rd and just wondered if it had any lasting side effects or made you feel any different to normal getting it while pregnant?

I have to get it every year due to being asthmatic and always end up with a cold afterwards so was just wondering if and how it will effect baby? Thanks !

loobeelou · 25/09/2020 15:47

@catnip99 I don't normally get the flu vaccine but I plan to this year. From what I've researched it is safe and you can pass on some protection to the baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a cold a few weeks ago, DS brought it home from nursery, it was just annoying because you can't take anything for it. I was 'self medicating' on hot water, honey and lemon 😂

Bumble84 · 25/09/2020 15:54

@catnip99 I’ve not had it whilst pregnant before but I will be getting it and have had it in previous years. It’s likely to have been a coincidence that you ended up with the cold after having it before because the vaccine they give to adults isn’t a live vaccine so can’t give you any flu symptoms. It’s perfectly safe for you and baby. I definitely don’t want flu but the thought of having flu and Covid simultaneously just doesn’t bare thinking about!

LoveSunshine01 · 25/09/2020 16:17

Hi @catnip99 I had my flu vaccine the other day and didn't get any symptoms if that helps?

catnip99 · 25/09/2020 16:23

Thanks ladies, much appreciated responses !!

And yes, dread to think what it would be like battling covid and the flu at the same time 😬

Nic2908 · 26/09/2020 14:01

How is everyone feeling? This thread has gone super quiet hasn't it. Is it because we are all just plodding along? I've been suffering with breathlessness this last week, I think its all to do with where he is in there when he feels really low I feel much better. Where is everyone upto with buying things?? We are pretty much done i think just the odd couple of things to buy. Going to start thinking about hospital bags soon, I like to be organised haha. We have a 4d scan on Monday which will be lovely as DH couldn't attend 20 week scan and so he hasn't seen him since 16 weeks and I am now almost 29, hopefully will be some nice pictures as I still do not have any clear scan pictures.

loobeelou · 26/09/2020 15:32

I'm 27 weeks today, nearly in the 3rd trimester and then the 10 week countdown!

I have spells where I lose my breathe faster, usually when baby is higher up, that's when she likes to kick as well. Good dig to the ribs 🤪

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Marshmallow1102 · 26/09/2020 21:36

I'm 29 weeks now! Signed off of work because my PGP is so bad, I spend most of my day in bed!
Bought the pram, car seat, cot and some clothes! Nursery no where near ready though, it's an empty unpainted room! Need a light switch moved and the walls all need prepping etc, going to take ages!!

Baby is transverse all the time which is very uncomfortable, the consultant wants me to have a scan at 36 weeks to check on babys position and see if they can induce me early, I'm hoping that hubby will be allowed to it because the last time he saw baby on screen was 9 weeks when they were just a little dot with a heartbeat!

calipoppy · 26/09/2020 22:46

Oh @Marshmallow1102 that sounds horrendous! I found sitting on a birthing ball helped my PGP sooo much and now it only comes back if I go for a walk or do something that involves bending like vacuuming, have you tried that? Hope you're doing ok the pain can be so dreadful can't it!

I've bought quite a bit and we've started on the nursery although it's one step forward 2 back it feels like - we discovered one of the walls needed replastering and then when we ripped up the carpet we found quite a few holes in the floorboards that also need sorting! Glad we started when we did! 😂

I'm not feeling breathless but I'm finding it so hard to do things I used to do easily like walk up a hill, I've put on nearly 2 stone which is madness because my arms and legs literally look the same as ever!

How's everyone else getting on?

catnip99 · 26/09/2020 23:03

I'm 27 weeks today also, I have everything for baby just got to get the cot built and recarpet and paint baby's room which I'm not looking forward to at all as the other half hates diy and turns into a troll Angry

I also turn into human pin cushion next week as I have flu vaccine, anti D, glucose test and my 28 week bloods all within the space of a few days so that's nice 😂

Also been thinking about what to pack in the hospital bag as a first time mum!! Do I pack 0-3 baby clothes or a mixture of first size and newborn too?? The questions in my head are endless at the mo Blush

loobeelou · 27/09/2020 07:41

DS was 7lb14 born and 51.5cm, I packed tiny baby and first size in my bag. The tiny baby was too long in the feet and arms even though it says up to 50cm 🤪

Good luck with your appointments, I had GTT two weeks ago, definitely human pin cushion 😂

ceebee21 · 27/09/2020 08:47

Hi all, just plodding along, feels like still forever to go but it really isnt.

We are in the process of doing the nursery...need new carpet fitted to upstairs so having that done soon, then can start finalising it all in there.

We had 4d scan yesterday at 27 weeks, was good to see baby again! She is currently breech, but plenty of time to turn yet!! Xx

Bumble84 · 27/09/2020 14:44

@calipoppy huge sympathies on the PGP pain. I’ve been having it the last couple of weeks but nowhere near what you describe! It was really bad for 2 days but now seems to have calmed down a bit. I googled physio exercises and stuff but I’m sure you’ve already tried all that!

I’m going to be 28 weeks on Wednesday. Really excited and happy to be in the final trimester! My husband randomly comes out with things like it can’t wait to be a Dad’ and it’s so sweet, he’s really excited as well. We’ve just ordered our nursery furniture, we have fitted wardrobes so just got cot and drawers, feel like we got a pretty good deal so I’ll post a link in case it’s useful for anyone else. I’ve also started buying nappies and wipes and stuff, I’m not mad doing that this early am I??

This is the cotbed and drawers set, the mattress is also in offer just now.

loobeelou · 27/09/2020 15:31

Lovely scan photo @ceebee21

That's a nice nursery set @Bumble84. We've decided we'll buy DS a new bed when baby will need to move to the cot. We have a next to me for the first few months.

How is everyone doing with names? We're no closer to picking one which is driving me crazy (stupid I know) lol. DH says no to my ideas but doesn't give suggestions and keeps telling me we have time! 🤪 I just want to pick a name 😂

ChristmasEve2020 · 27/09/2020 16:00

@loobeelou We had a solid favourite for a girl from the beginning, no boys names though! Thankfully, she's a girl...

I'm 29 weeks today and had my gestational diabetes test, 28 weeks bloods and flu jab at once. I was pleased for a sit down after the walk from the car and I don't mind needles. They do it all the time so they're good at it. The flu is the worst really as it stings a bit when the fluid goes in but I have it every year and it's the same each year.

I've been isotonic my chiropractor and they taped my lower back up which was pure bliss. I've got sciatica in my left leg but the worst for me is the aching painful spine. It's mud back and sitting and standing and lying all hurt. I was up until gone 3 am with it this morning. I told my husband it's like toothache in the spine. It never goes.

Having a phone appointment with the physio on Wednesday (I self referred) and have a yoga DVD coming for some stretches. I feel quite emotional I'm not as active as I want but my spine is in constant agony

Bumble84 · 27/09/2020 20:38

Has anyone looked into the arrangements for birthing partners at their hospital? I have and it’s just made me feel pretty emotional for all the wrong reasons! I know things can change but it looks like it’s going to get worse going into the winter.

Mycrazylife85 · 27/09/2020 23:27

Yes, @Bumble84 It's quite restricted but I kind of figured there is nothing I can do but suck it up and stay at home for as long as possible. My mantra to a lot of it is 'it is what it is'

The worst was the scans. Going to my 12 week one alone was awful. I cried as I was so convinced it would be bad news, but the staff were so lovely. Luckily my husband could go to the 20 week one but we'd have paid for a private one if not.

There's nothing I can do but accept it and acknowledge it may change. The whole 'prepare for the worst, hope for the best' type thing here 😁
