Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

Good evening mummies!

Lovely to read all your updates - especially the rainbow babies from earlier in the thread- so glad you're back with us and I'm keeping everything crossed for each of you!

Im 23 weeks tomorrow.
Been a rollercoaster few weeks for me with very low moods and some scary dark thoughts. I recognised I wasn't feeling myself and I self referred to the mental health in pregnancy team and they have been so supportive. I feel so much better. The community midwife approach was not working for me.

Our request for a C section was approved - but we are still exploring a vaginal birth with a closer managed approach - they were so kind and helpful and i cannot express the relief we now feel. I'm leaving towards the VB as I really want to feel safe and know that I did everything I could for our baby- but want to visit the unit before we make a final decision.

We've finished the nursery - we have the main things left (pram/monitor/steriliser/mattresses for Mose/cot/clothes) it's all so much to think about.

How much in the way of clothes to people have for the first babies few months?
As we really have no idea what we're doing as this is our first!
I'm a capsule wardrobe kind of person, but planning a capsule wardrobe for a newborn feels incredibly naive Smile
I was thinking 10 vests, 10 babygrows, 10 Muslins but a mum friend said try 20! Haha

We're meant to be on a baby moon to Greece in September- wonder if that will go ahead.

Big hugs to all x

Bumble84 · 18/08/2020 20:32

@MrsSmith2020 I’m glad that you are getting the support that you need now and hopefully that will continue throughout your pregnancy and beyond. I’ve also been a bit up and down and will speak to my midwife next week about it all to see what she says.

I’m not sure about clothing either! Thing is I know people will be generous with gifts so I don’t want to buy too much! We don’t know what we’re having so I was going to be really boring and buy pure plain white vests and babygrows. We’ve got a tumble dryer so worst case a washing can be done and dried quick enough. I also don’t know what size to get because some places offer so many different sizes, newborn, 0 months, 1 month, 0-3 months and I don’t know what to go for!

Katbaby · 18/08/2020 21:11

Good evening girls hope you are all well.

I'm making the most of eat out to help out 🐷🐷 feeling like a fat pig tonight haha.

We bought our travel system, bedroom furniture and bedside crib at the weekend.
Went for the mamas and papas ocarro for travelsystem, absolutely love it. The furniture and crib was from there also and some other bits, so because of how much we spent we get a £300 voucher on delivery so looking forward to getting that, I really fancy buying the nuna leaf rocker, rather dear but if its on a voucher then feel like it's for free 🤣🤣

Sickness came back just as a one off on Saturday, threw up my whole breakfast so violently took me by surprise. Feeling better now but my forehead pimples are back too so wondering if I've had a hormone surge perhaps.

As for clothes I have a drawer stuffed full of stuff 🤣can't help myself when I see things 😳it's all so gorgeous. We haven't found out gender but I absolutely loooove all the unisex neutrals that I would have bought them anyway I think!

I'm seeing visible movements now and I love feeling for them, finally an enjoyable pregnancy symptom! Anyone feel like their boobs are still on fire??

Bumble84 · 20/08/2020 10:41

Does anyone feel loads of movements one day and then hardly any the next?

I phoned the triage unit last night because I was getting worried and they just told me that they didn’t worry about movement until 28 weeks and cheerio basically. I was a bit surprised by this response because everything you read tells you to call and I hadn’t felt anything all day. Granted I was busy but still. Sod’s law I did feel movement just after I called but I just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience?

Pea1984 · 20/08/2020 10:51

@Bumble84 yes I’ve felt less movements some days. Sometimes when I’ve been busy and on my feet all day I barely notice any movements. A fizzy drink and a lie down usually makes her wake up a bit. Always best to ring and check though, not that I have however.

Nic2908 · 20/08/2020 11:13

@bumble84 I ended up in triage two days ago for reduced fetal movement I would have been exactly 23 weeks and they were so so lovely. Everything was fine, I think he has just turned so kicks are going into my back now. If you are ever worried just ring as that might just be one person who is being grumpy, rubbish service though. Double check with your community midwife too.

Bumble84 · 20/08/2020 11:15

Thanks girls. I did wonder if that was standard service. I’m seeing midwife on Monday so I will mention it to her as well. I’ve definitely felt baby everyday at some point now for a while which puts my mind at ease.

Yellowbeansontoast · 20/08/2020 14:37

Hi @Bumble84, I've got a similar thing so assuming it's normal? I've noticed especially after super busy days of kicking pretty much every hour, baby tends to have a lazy day, I guess to rest up for another manic one haha.

SettyBuarez · 20/08/2020 15:08

@Bumble84 I'm 23+6 today and have an anterior placenta and I only started feeling movements properly at the start of the week just at random points, nothing regular but nothing today. I rang triage and the midwife said 26-28 weeks is when they look for a pattern, but she was worried I'd not felt anything today so I've had to have a drink and lie down for 2 hours and then ring them back either way, and if still nothing I'll have to go in. It's a shame the person you spoke to wasn't very reassuring but it sounds like as long as you feel something everyday then that's not a concern.

It's scary being a ftm sometimes as you don't know what's normal or not!

Bumble84 · 20/08/2020 15:37

It is strange how they can be different. I’ll be honest if I hadn’t felt anything by the next morning I would have called back and been a bit more insistent. I know it’s a midwifes bread and butter but we are constantly told not to ignore reduced movement and this was also hammered into me at my booking appointment so I didn’t think I was doing the wrong thing by phoning.

emmalily9 · 22/08/2020 09:28

Has anyone thought about when to start preparing the hospital bag? Or even what to put in it? I know we're still a long way off but when I ended up having to go into hospital a few weeks ago there was a lady there at 32 weeks who got told she was staying in and she had nothing with her. I just wouldn't want to end up like that and be caught out!

Bumble84 · 22/08/2020 10:16

I was thinking of packing my hospital back at around 33/34 weeks. There’s lists online of what to pack. I would hope even if I got kept in from an early stage my husband would be able to cover the basics of what to pack!

december2020 · 23/08/2020 21:03

Evening everyone! How are you all? 💖

Work has been super busy here the last few weeks (12 hour days on weekdays and 2-3 hours on weekends just to try make the week manageable). BUT finally on some days off! Woohoo!

We're finalising sourcing all the bits for the bedroom renovations and decluttering like fools (ordered a giant skip). Can't wait for some bright airy clutter-free bedrooms!

ceebee21 · 23/08/2020 21:06

@december2020 with you on the de cluttering.. we have bags and bags of clothes that neither have worn in years...slowly but surely getting there.

We went and looked at the ickle bubba v3 at the weekend and think we will be getting that pram. Not really bought anything else yet!!! Xx

december2020 · 23/08/2020 21:51

@ceebee21 it's such a glorious feeling isn't it!
Now that I've finally got a few days off I can't wait to properly blitz every cupboard and shelf.
If I had it my way, I'd probably empty half the house into a skip 🙈
Congrats on the pram! Woohoo!

calipoppy · 24/08/2020 14:57

Hi everyone! Loving the decluttering chat! We're on major house DIY at the moment, fixing everything from leaky tap to old carpets as if these are things the baby will care about 😂🤷‍♀️
We went to mamas and papas and John Lewis at the weekend which was so good, feel like we have now chosen all the major big things we need which is a great feeling! I was so exhausted when we got home and slept 11 hours last night! All I could think was thank god I am working from home at the minute!

On prams we've finally decided to go for the Nuna mixx next, we were between that and the uppababy but price of the nuna is sooo much better and we're getting it in a bundle with car seat too so that's 2 jobs taken care of! So exciting to be at the point of buying things now isn't it!

LoveSunshine01 · 24/08/2020 15:58

Aaargh... we really don't have the headspace for baby bits yet! We moved a month ago, it's our first owned home and all our rentals have been furnished, so we're having to buy everything.... sofas, beds, mattresses the whole lot. Plus decorating which we've never done before and there is a LOT to do - I swear I nearly cried in the shop yesterday when we realise NONE of their sofas would fit through our living room door! Carpet man coming to measure today, plumber on Thursday, guests next weekend....

I'm gonna rely on you lot to do the research for baby stuff and just copy you! 😂

We've got time... we've got time 🥴😵
Tick, tick, tick....

Marshmallow1102 · 24/08/2020 16:46

Oh @LoveSunshine01 that sounds super stressful, we bought last year and still haven't finished decorating everywhere, don't feel like you have to do everything at once!
I went to John Lewis at the weekend too, would highly recommend making a maternity advice appointment! We booked online, the lady emailed asking us what our priorities were in a pram (do we go off road, does it need to be compact, does it need to convert to a double etc). We turned up for the appointment and she showed us the prams which best suited our specific needs, and genuinely everyone needs something different, so I don't think you can go off of recommendations alone! After our one hour appointment we had made the decision, had practiced putting the pram up and down etc, super happy with our choice. We weren't pushed into making a purchase either, we were just emailed the name of the pram we like, so we can look it up online and order from wherever is cheapest!

calipoppy · 25/08/2020 06:46

I'd definitely recommend John Lewis too not just for prams but also car seats, we went in clueless and came out fully trained! And I second @Marshmallow1102 we've been in our house almost 2 years and it's nowhere close to finished! We still use my parents garden chairs for our dining table 😬

december2020 · 25/08/2020 07:56

In the same boat @Marshmallow1102 @calipoppy
We bought our house almost 4 years ago and only now renovating and redecorating! 😬
Upstairs this year and hopefully downstairs next year.

But it's making me so excited to have a house I love to be in once it's all done (we've been thinking of moving for ages but decided we'd do the house up and then maybe move in 2-5 years depending on what our lifestyle needs are at that point).

Is anyone getting a bit bored of being pregnant? Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to meet him but being pregnant is a little boring 🙈

LoveSunshine01 · 25/08/2020 09:36

Thanks guys! Think we might need to scale back our redecorating plans a bit and take a bit longer with things for sanity's sake!

I'm going to London next week, will try and get a John Lewis appt - there isn't one anywhere near us, hopefully get a few bits done then I can relax.

@december2020 I'm not sure I would say bored as I still can't quite believe it's real and still not used to having a bump but it is loooooong.

SarH89 · 25/08/2020 10:11

Hi everyone,
I don’t post often but enjoying catching up on the thread and seeing what everyone has been buying. We’ve made a start with shopping now and brought a crib and a buggy, it feels quite surreal seeing baby equipment in the house and trying to make sure the cat doesn’t think it’s stuff for her!

We moved into our current house 2 years ago and have a never ending to do list but we’ve been cutting it back as definitely wont get everything done before baby comes.

Not sure if it’s just me but I’ve had a horrible sour taste in my mouth the last 2 weeks that I can’t shake. Has anyone else has this and if so found anything that helped?

Marshmallow1102 · 25/08/2020 10:58

@calipoppy love that you're using garden chairs with your dining table, at least you've got a dining table 😂 we eat off of trays on our laps that were bought as a temporary measure 'just until we get a table' over 18 months ago 😂
Hoping that we get the nursery done before baby arrives at the very least, although we've still not made any progress on it. We bought a tester pot of paint two weeks ago and still haven't tried it on the walls, don't know what's stopping us!

calipoppy · 25/08/2020 15:10

@SarH89 yes I have had a horrible taste on and off! I've described it to my husband as extremely savoury haha but it spoils the taste of everything. I read online it can be pregnancy vitamins that cause it so I have reduced my intake and that seems to have helped!

calipoppy · 26/08/2020 07:30

I'm just reading about hypnosis thing and wondering whether to do a class or just listen to recordings and videos, has anyone else looked into it? X
