Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

I actually think this heat is gunna do me off 😭 I'm so glad I didn't book a holiday abroad for next month like I was going too... I know it's different abroad as you had Aircon and pool etc but Jesus I'm melting. So thankful for wfh I'm sat in my sports bra and shorts now 🙈

@Bumble84 I've not even spoken to HR, I work for a very large company so we just have an online HR system that I'm supposed to upload my MatB1 to and put in my maternity dates, but I've had a look and no idea where to do it so decided to just wait until I'm told to do something. If my line manager hasn't spoken to me about it by 25 weeks then I'll have to ask him I guess!

@SettyBuarez I'm so glad it's not just me! I'm past the point of caring about waking up hubby now 😂 if it keeps happening I might end up painting the nursery at 3am by myself!

ceebee21 · 12/08/2020 13:42

Hi all, just trying to catch up!

Just had 20 week scan and all looking well.

I am officially starting Mat leave on 21st December, but have also booked a week of annual leave before that... due date is 26th December.

Although, I am at high risk of Pre Eclampsia and have a feeling I may end up getting induced at 37 weeks... which would mean I start Mat leave much earlier!

We will see I guess, but that is the plan for now.

x

@Marshmallow1102 really wish I could go backpacking but no unfortunately will just be returning to work! If money was no object I'd pack in work and just do the back packing instead like!

@Bumble84 I thought about trying to milk 2 Christmases off but then I realised January is such a horrible month to go back to in work--so focused on the new year and things like hardest month, whereas December in the run down to Christmas is a bit more chilled out, so probably easier to go back in!

ew1990 · 12/08/2020 17:43

Hiya ladies. Hope you dont mind me butting in again with an update. I still check on the thread every now and then. Lovely to see all the 20 weeks scans.

Had a scan this morning due to a bit of bleeding at the weekend and a lovely tiny baby with a heartbeat. Measuring 9+6. Further than I got with my MMC and I'm feeling positive about it all now.

loobeelou · 12/08/2020 17:53

Congratulations @ew1990

makingababy · 17/08/2020 09:43

Morning everyone, hope you’ve all been quiet because you’re keeping busy and feeling well.

I’ve been feeling pretty good, only complaint is a bit of back pain and my sciatica has returned (but not to full force yet). My little one has been kicking lots and her dad finally got to feel it this morning... he couldn’t tell if he was feeling kicks or my pulse before 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

@ew1990 that’s great and I’m really pleased for you! Hope you’re feeling ok through the first tri too, I was quite lucky and my nausea went away right around 10 weeks, so hope you feel good soon too!

catnip99 · 17/08/2020 10:28

Good morning @makingababy !

I have been quiet due to the midwives messing me about incredible amounts so have spent the past few days trying to sort that shit show out Smile

Other than that I am 21+2 today, my little boy is super active, starting to get really excited for his arrival now !!!

djmbaker · 17/08/2020 10:45

Hellooo! @makingababy
It's amazing feeling them kick isn't it??
I've only started to really notice it that last week.. before then it was just bubbles and popping but I can actually see her kicks now which is mind blowing. And my partner was able to feel it this morning which was so lovely.
I'm suffering from tiredness at the mo.. so I have nothing to report as I'm just working and sleeping it seems.

We did get our travel system pram on Friday though which is so exciting. Seeing the car seat in my car was surreal.. knowing that in 4 months time she will be in that! 😍

Hope you are all ok 💗

Congratulations @ew1990 that's amazing news. Keeping everything crossed for you!! xx

LoveSunshine01 · 17/08/2020 11:08

Hi everyone!

@djmbaker I'm super tired too, we have so much to do on the house but I seem to need a break after about 20 minutes of doing anything and naps are back big time!

It is getting weirdly real now - I can't get used to catching my reflection with the bump. We went to visit DH's family in italy last week - everyone wanted to stroke my belly and you could see them all having internal struggles about wanting to do it and COVID worries, highly entertaining 😂

LoveSunshine01 · 17/08/2020 11:10

@ew1990 congrats!! Not long till 12 weeks now 😁

SettyBuarez · 17/08/2020 11:19

Hi all, glad to hear everyone is doing well!

I've finally felt some movement, like a weird type of pulsing or tapping from inside, I wouldn't say kicks quite yet though. So strange to begin with!

That's so exciting @djmbaker! Which travel system did you go for?

Lovely news @ew1990, fingers crossed for you!

catnip99 · 17/08/2020 14:32

Is it just me or does anyone else have major issues getting in contact with a midwife/ community midwives? Been trying to contact them since Friday to ask about an appointment but they literally NEVER answer the phone?

calipoppy · 17/08/2020 14:44

Hi everyone! @makingababy I've been having terrible back pain but the last few days I've been sitting on a birthing ball for a few hours a day and I can't believe the difference! Definitely recommend. Normally mines been so bad I can hardly stand by the end of the day but since I got this I've been pretty much back to normal!

djmbaker · 17/08/2020 15:54

@LoveSunshine01 I'm glad I'm not alone with the tiredness!! I thought we were supposed to have loads of energy?? 😓 I feel hungover this week it's really odd.

@SettyBuarez we got the Silver across Pioneer.. but I managed to get it on eBay, the lady had literally used it for 4 months and hurt her back so she had to get something else so we got a fab deal and it looks virtually brand new!

@calipoppy that's really interesting as when I work my back is agony - I'm a beauty therapist so I spend a lot of time sat down and I am struggling 😭 wonder if I could do nails on a bouncing ball 😂😂😂

SettyBuarez · 17/08/2020 16:32

@djmbaker Aah I love the Pioneer, that's what we're getting. That sounds like a great deal! My best bargains so far have been a Moses basket and changing table from one of the charity shops, both Mothercare and in really good condition!

Bumble84 · 17/08/2020 17:17

Oh god, everyone’s buying things and I’ve still bought nothing big! Literally bought a couple of vests and bibs to make me feel organised 😂😂

Still can’t decide on a pram but looking at the nuna Demi grow

LoveSunshine01 · 17/08/2020 18:15

@djmbaker yep that's exactly the feeling. Hungover. Not fair.

@Bumble84 don't worry, we haven't spent a penny on buying things yet. 4 months is ages, also a few people have given us bits and bobs, so I'd rather spend money filling the gaps closer to the time.

Bumble84 · 17/08/2020 18:51

@LoveSunshine01 I think friends will want to buy us things as well. I’ve picked out a few potential things so that if people ask I can say to them.

We get a baby box in Scotland with a lot of bits in it as well which is nice.

Bigcheesey · 17/08/2020 20:25

It’s so exciting to see how everyone is progressing! I’m glad I’m not the only one who is so tired! Afternoon naps are a god send.

I’m also really lucky and get strong movements regularly now that sometimes you can see happen. It’s such a lovely feeling - though I did convince myself it was just wind the first few days 😊

I’m still waiting on my 20 weeks scan (moving house and poor hospital admin is a pain) but I’m now 21+2.

Has anyone here booked NCT classes yet? Or anything similar? The only ones on offer around me are virtual and I worry I wouldn’t get that much out of them. But the first “in-person” one is early December and I’ll be 37 weeks then which is probably cutting it a bit fine.

Also we bought out pram second hand (Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle Nautical - I love it 🥰) and wondered about sending it away for a professional clean, not that it’s dirty at all but I just wanted to try and give it a freshen up. Has anyone done/ doing anything similar?

Keep posting on this thread please everyone - I love catching up on it every few days. 😁😁😁

MaverickDanger · 17/08/2020 23:41

23 weeks now and baby is moving like crazy. It’s actually pretty off-putting when I’m trying to concentrate on something at work Grin

We’ve picked up quite a lot on our list second hand so far, and looking at prams in a couple of weeks. We’ve got a private scan booked next week so DH can see the baby for the first time & get it confirmed that he is in fact a boy - because they didn’t write it down, DH thinks I’ve just heard what I wanted to hear Grin

Need to sort out my forms for work. I’ve verbally agreed when I’m going off - thinking to start mat leave at 39 weeks but use annual leave to go off at 37, with a couple of shorter weeks from 35 weeks ish.

I’m lucky in that my maternity package is good (13 weeks full pay, 26 weeks half & 3 weeks SMP) plus I’ve got about 8k saved specifically for mat leave, although will probably use some of that to hopefully travel to Oz next year so he can meet DH’s family & elderly relatives.

It feels a long, long wait now until the end, but I think with the different appointments, things will go fast.

Bumble84 · 18/08/2020 09:00

@Bigcheesey I just booked my nct classes yesterday. I booked a block of 6 starting in September and if I want I can continue it for another 6 weeks. It is all still online but I figure if you get to see faces and get contact numbers for people then you’ve got a chat going with other people at least and I’m hoping if people are local maybe even out for walks and things

makingababy · 18/08/2020 13:03

@Bumble84 We’ve only really bought a nappy bag and hamper-y thing for the nursery. We’ve been out pram shopping and I’m keenest on the mamas and papas strada at the moment. We’re in a flat so I want something I can get up and down the stairs without too much hassle.

@Bigcheesey have signed up for NcT but it’s just two Sat sessions (loooong ones) and a short breastfeeding session. I think they’re in mid-November

emmalily9 · 18/08/2020 18:24

@makingababy I'm dead set on the mamas and papas Strada. I like how lightweight it is and how compact it all becomes! Have you tested it in a store?

Natt99 · 18/08/2020 18:52

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, had a few weeks off work and been doing lots of little trips which has been nice, if not a little hot 🥵
We brought the silver cross pioneer at the weekend, it's so smart!

For those of you that also have it, are you going to use the bassinet as a Moses basket? The stand to convert it into a Moses is £100 so not sure whether to just get a Moses for like £30. But then I was thinking if the baby is used to sleeping in the pram Moses it might make things a bit easier 🤔
