Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

I'm so glad to hear you girls can take your partners to your 20 week scans, I've been feeling down as I spoke to our maternity unit as lots of trusts like Newcastle Sunderland etc have changed their rules and I wanted to know if ours would, and they said no absolutely no changes planned anytime soon. I think its so unfair that's it not universal and I feel like our hospital is really stuck in April when it comes to its covid rules. I've booked a private scan for 4th August so DH can come as by the sounds of things nothing is gonna change at my hospital for my 20 week scan on 7th August.

I'm happy for the girls whose hospitals are being reasonable! But gutted for me

Katbaby · 26/07/2020 08:39

Sorry I've just realised how Debbie downer my post is 🤣🤣 on plus side I'm feeling very well and bump is starting to pop out 😁

Bumble84 · 26/07/2020 09:34

@Katbaby not debbie downer at all! You’re right to be annoyed, it should be universal as it is in Scotland. That’s the problem when you give people choice, everyone picks differently. Unless you’re somewhere where there’s a local lockdown you should be allowed.

Katbaby · 26/07/2020 09:58

I agree @Bumble84 it's really got me feeling cheated this weekend, the fact that trusts can pick and choose what they want to do. Thank goodness for private scan places and the fact that we can use them!

Nic2908 · 26/07/2020 11:26

@katbaby. I'm the same friend, no partners allowed at our scans either. I even work in the hospital and I tried that little card too and it got me no where. It should be universal!! Its so annoying that you can pay private and both go but nhs wont allow it. Its complete nonsense. Masks have been mandatory in hospitals for along time. I can go and get sweaty in a gym, go to the cinema, go shopping,go to a bar but my husband cant come to a scan of his baby. Its complete and utter tosh. Bonding is so important and they are just missing out on so so much.

calipoppy · 26/07/2020 12:23

Gutted for you girls whose hospitals have t changed the rules, totally agree it should be one rule everywhere! Feels like the government have forgotten about pregnant women at the moment doesn't it! But thank goodness for private scans at least ❤️

Katbaby · 26/07/2020 12:31

I'm sorry to hear youre in the same boat as me @Nic2908 I keep telling myself that once the baby is here no one can stop my husband being with it which is the main thing, but it does feel like he would miss out on milestones because of the rules.

Oh well I can still hope, just less than 2 weeks to go until scan maybe just maybe there may be a change.

We will see.

Keepingcomfy · 27/07/2020 10:34

Hi ladies! I haven't posted in a while but have been following the thread and it's nice to see how everyone is getting on.

I'm bursting with joy as I had my 20 scan this morning and everything looked great. Baby is coming along nicely, and saw the wee toes wriggling and it kept opening it's mouth. Absolutely thrilled 😀

MaverickDanger · 27/07/2020 12:37

I feel like today is a big day for 20 week scans!

We had ours first thing - all looking good & my gut feeling was right, it’s a boy!

Marshmallow1102 · 27/07/2020 13:06

Another 20 week scan over here! All organs present and correct! Didn't find out the sex, just glad that baby marshmallow is happy and healthy! 😊
DH wasn't allowed in, so might have to book another private scan!

djmbaker · 27/07/2020 13:26

Yay congratulations girls!!! That's all exciting isn't it. 20 weeks is such a milestone isn't it.
Mine is two weeks today!!

@Marshmallow1102 love the photos! How cute. Isn't it amazing how much they change.

How is everyone feeling in the second trimester??
I'm 18 + 3 and today the only way I can describe it is, I feel pregnant... I'm aching, I've got aches in my tummy , my back, my legs.. I didn't sleep at all so I think that's part of it! Last night was the first night where I just couldn't get comfy, my nipples were aching, I kept waking up on my bloody back.. just feel crap 😩

I've just finished work now so I'm going for a lie down I think!

Sorry for you all whose partners can't go to scans - it is miserable. I've just had a client who is due a week today and she is sad as her partner obviously can't be with her after the birth etc... it's a sad time isn't it. Hopefully by December it will have settled for all of us 🙏🏻

MaverickDanger · 27/07/2020 13:47

I’m the same @djmbaker, just feel really uncomfortable but not one thing in particular. I get DH to rub my back every evening because it all just aches!

I’ve been getting a bit of some pelvic pain so just keeping an eye on that. I think I just need to remind myself to take it easy, but I’m not really a take it easy sort of person!

djmbaker · 27/07/2020 14:14

@MaverickDanger yess is rubbish isn't it thou? I always find its worse on a Monday and I think it's because I try and do too much... my partner forgets some days and in the nicest possible way I think he expects a bit too much of me sometimes. I've had quite an achey pregnancy so I don't feel concerned just uncomfortable. I've got a scan tomorrow thou so that will be nice!

Currently sat on the sofa with crisps and watching Hitch 😍

LoveSunshine01 · 27/07/2020 15:51

Hi everyone! Haven't been around much as have been moving house and work is super busy. Great to see all the scans, so exciting!! Mine is on friday - still time for them to change their mind on partners...?? I want to call and double check but I also don't want to pester them!

@viixie yes breathless and dizzy, especially when doing up the house and carrying stuff. Had to lie down a couple of times as well cos my back feels uncomfortable.

Also starting to get a proper little bump! It's getting uncomfortable to carry boxes against my tummy so am getting off a bit lightly with the move 😂

All starting to seem more real now! 😬

MaverickDanger · 27/07/2020 16:12

Need to start researching baby stuff now! We’ve been holding off on looking for anything. Still want to get most of it second hand though.

It also means our name list can be shortened! I think it’s going to be out of Caleb, Max, Cillian and Lachlan. But then he might arrive and look like something else!

calipoppy · 27/07/2020 16:23

Lovely names @MaverickDanger ! Just had my 20 week scan too and all looking good! The best feeling to see the baby again isn't, long wait now until we finally meet them! We didn't find out the sex either, although I was tempted!!

I'm also very achy, my back pain is getting worse and worse, sometimes I can't actually stand up from sitting on a chair! 😂 think I should probably call my midwife and see what they can do before I can't even walk haha!

PocoyoandEllie · 27/07/2020 17:55

I have been really quiet, lovely to see all the scans. Mine is on Friday, still feeling really anxious and haven’t told anyone really yet!

viixie · 28/07/2020 13:56

Hope you're all doing well today? Phoned my X-ray department as my 20 week scan is on Friday but unfortunately Dad still isn't allowed to come :(

december2020 · 28/07/2020 14:19

20 weeks today for me!
All downhill from here! Finally telling the wider work team and I guess office on Monday (my non-secret is out) 😂😭.
20 week appointment next week for me! Eek!

Congrats everyone on the amazing scans and finding out the gender for those who decided too! Woohoo!

djmbaker · 28/07/2020 16:18

I went for my second gender scan today 😂😂 she confirmed it is a girl!
Check out this little photo with her finger up in the air!!! 😂😂 xx

Christmas babies thread 4!
Nic2908 · 28/07/2020 18:27

@djmbaker that scan is precious!! She has attitude already!! I love it!

Ladies I have my 20 week scan at 9.30 am tomorrow, however my baby boy is notoriously shy and never gives a good scan. Other than when he was 8 weeks and the size of a kidney bean Haha. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Marshmallow1102 · 28/07/2020 21:14

@Nic2908 I wouldn't worry too much about doing anything special, the midwife will tell you what to do to get all the angles necessary to see everything! Mine tipped the table back, asked me to roll over and gave baby a jiggle with the ultrasound wand to make sure she could see what she needed to! She said if babies are being especially shy they might ask you to go for a brief walk, and that only if baby is really stubborn do they give up and ask you to come back in two weeks to check whatever organs they couldn't get a good look at!

Nic2908 · 28/07/2020 21:20

@Marshmallow1102 thank you!! Fingers crossed.

LoveSunshine01 · 29/07/2020 09:55

@djmbaker that scan photo is AMAZING! Looks like she's having a right little rave in there!!

djmbaker · 29/07/2020 10:32

@LoveSunshine01 Thankyou!! I'm chuffed with it. We have NEVER managed to get a decent photo and we have had 6 scans so far.. she is always either upside down or hidden in the corner so this made me very happy yesterday !
We even got the most adorable video of her touching her face and then resting her little hand on her knee... I've rewatched it about 50 times! Crazy to think she's in there.. blows my mind xx
