Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

With formula, I’d check your local availability. You don’t want to start on a brand that you pick up at you monthly shop (for example) but then not be able to get from the coop round the corner when you realise you’ve run out!

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 10:23

@Harrietm87 I haven't seen this (am I missing something with winky faces? Catch me up if I am lol) but looks like it might be worth a read thanks 🙂

HarrietM87 · 01/07/2020 11:01

Oh Sweetpea1985 are you not Hancock2020?? Welcome back if so! Feel free to ignore if not 🤣

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 11:02

Lol no, although I do like the film Hancock 🤣🤣 does that count?

Fredthespider · 01/07/2020 11:06

@Sweetpea1985 Like others have said I wouldn't get caught up in buying a brand that isn't easily accessible to you as it's a real pain if you run out and need it quickly. On a side note check what the policy is wherever you're planning to give birth as some hospitals won't provide any where for you to sterilise bottles so lots of people buy ready made bottles that include the teats for whilst they're in hospital.

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 11:10

@Fredthespider I quickly read a poster on my 12 week scan saying they no longer provide formula but haven't been told if they provide somewhere to sterilise your own. Definitely something I should check really as aldi dont make premade.

Fredthespider · 01/07/2020 11:23

@Sweetpea1985 I wouldn't stress about Aldi not making pre-made, babies are adaptable so you don't need to feed them exactly the same brand and only that one. Apparently pre-made bottles taste slightly different to powder anyway so just grab whatever pre-made ones you can get whilst you're in hospital and then use whatever powder you want at home, I'm sure baby will cope.

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 11:26

@Fredthespider that's good to know thank you.

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 12:25

I feel like wrapping this pillow round my DH head! I'm saying I need a pregnancy pillow like a big one but I found one that's a bit smaller but hes saying why cant I use my v shaped one, its not the same I cant get comfortable with it! I basically haven't slept for a week and he wants to argue with me over a pillow!

TeddyTMP · 01/07/2020 12:56

Has anyone else been feeling really dizzy? I haven't until today Confused

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 13:37

@TeddyTMP yes I have although I dont have a reason for it at the moment 🤷‍♀️

Beccarans89 · 01/07/2020 13:43

@HarrietM87 I emailed the private scan clinic and they are rescanning me tomorrow for free just to double check! I think my husband needs to see it with his own eyes to believes there's boy bits down there 😂 and will be nice to see baby again!

HarrietM87 · 01/07/2020 13:55

Amazing @Beccarans89! So nice your husband gets another chance to see the baby too!

I just got a text from my hospital saying that from 6 July partners will be allowed in scans again. Sad that I just missed the cut off!

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 16:45

Just popped to the shop and come back to find my doorstep looking like Christmas lol
Love it when baby stuff arrives 🥰

FudgeFlies · 01/07/2020 16:51

@Beccarans89 oh wow! Out of curiosity, did you get a “potty shot” picture of the baby’s bits at the private scan? Did it look like a girl at the time?

FudgeFlies · 01/07/2020 16:55

Also, looking at cute spring/summer bits but stuck in between ordering 4-6 months or 6-9 months. I know the clever thing would be to order 6-9 months but worried it might be too big for her at the time. What’s everyone else doing? Am I over thinking this (yes)

Beccarans89 · 01/07/2020 20:38

@FudgeFlies yes they took a potty shot and definitely looked like a girl! Annoyingly we only got 2 choose two free prints at the private scan so we didn't choose to get a printed potty shot so I can't check back and see! But couldn't see anything between the legs! However there definitely was yesterday 🤣

MeandSpud · 01/07/2020 20:41

@FudgeFlies, I'm not ordering anything over 3-6 months until baby's here and I have a better idea of if they're big/small/average.

Pink15 · 01/07/2020 20:44

Is anyone else finding the new born and 0-3 clothes are sold out pretty much everywhere ?? :( why don't they stock more as they're clearly popular!

Pink15 · 01/07/2020 20:44

Also are you guys buying newborn size? They often say only up to about 7 pounds!! And a lot of babies are easily bigger than that

Sweetpea1985 · 01/07/2020 20:48

@Pink15 I was tempted because they look so tiny which is adorable but then I figured surely a baby wouldn't fit in it for long? So I've been buying 0-3 months at least then it'll get a bit more use

Addler · 01/07/2020 21:39

I've just got one pack of sleep suits and one pack of vests in newborn size, then 0-3. DP is 6'4 so not expecting a little one!

NatalieH2220 · 01/07/2020 21:44

@Beccarans89 What a surprise! I might ask them to double check at our 20 week scan just in case!

@Pink15 I'm not buying newborn but do have 'first size' or 'up to 1 month' as some places call it. The 0-3 swamped my son but the first size lasted him for around the first 6 weeks. He was 6lb 9oz when born.

FlashesOfRage · 01/07/2020 22:03

My top tip (that I got from my already a mum friends) is to look for 0-3 month bundles on your local fb groups 👌

The majority of the clothes your baby will wear won’t be seen in public and are just functional. Or better still they’ll get puked/pooed on several times per day.

So you buy cheap bundles from not too dodgy looking people for the bulk of the wardrobe and therefore save your cash for the really nice things you want 👍 Plus everyone buys you clothes as gifts apparently!

Got 42 items for £30 a few days ago including some white company stuff!!!

Oatmilk1 · 01/07/2020 22:32

So I started to feel the baby move last week - just a little bit at night but now for the past two days I havent felt anything. It was too early to establish a pattern, and I have an anterior placenta so I know that its probably just that the baby moved position and is well cushioned again but it gets so worrying...
