I forced myself to not have a little nap yesterday which I think helped my sleep last night, I did wake a few times but managed to fall back off. It seems to have cooled down a bit outside, I've just opened the bedroom window and it feels nicer Smile

Is it safe for gel nails or shellac in pregnancy?

My Mum has so kindly booked me a little pamper session as I'm struggling with sleeping and my hips so to cheer me up! I'm off for a hair cut, and nails. Before pregnancy I had my nails done all the time and stopped when I got BFP. Are gels/shellac's safe? X

@wannabebump go for it! What a lovely treat 😀

mOmShanti · 12/08/2020 10:36

@wannabebump I know people do still get their shellac done when pregnant, but personally I opted to stop painting my nails altogether with any products containing chemicals such as formaldehyde when I became pregnant. I got some pregnancy safe, plant based, breathable varnish and used that to paint my nails instead and it’s great. Maybe get a bottle of pregnancy safe varnish and take it to your pampering session and ask them to use that? It won’t wont be shellac but you’ll still have lovely nails with none of the worry 💗 Have a lovely session!!!! Xx

Hating this heat now, especially overnight 🥵 keep waking up between 3am and 5am and can't get back to sleep. Fan is on and ear plugs in but nope.. 😳 Might have just had a sneaky nap on the sofa now! Baby loves it though, she's been really active!

wannabebump · 12/08/2020 16:31

I think I'm just a big melting mess today! 🥵

Also had to deal with the biggest wasp ever which was going frantic, skooshed with a fair bit of wasp killer spray about 2 hours ago. It's now off to wasp heaven, I've got all the windows open for the smell of the spray and even a fan on in the room it was sprayed and I can still smell it. Starting to get a bit frantic about hurting baby as it's still lingering 😟

@wannabebump I'm sure it'll be fine. Keep your windows open and the smell will be gone in no time :) All the babies organs are now formed so can't cause a birth defect like that! Most chemicals are dangerous in the first trimester.

wannabebump · 12/08/2020 20:50

Thanks @Pink15 x

So we’ve gone from having literally nothing prepped two weeks ago, to having most of the big purchases covered. We’ve now sorted the travel system (pushchair, pram and car seat), the cot for nursery, the crib for our room, a wardrobe, drawers, paints and mural stuff for decorating and a high chair.

Still got plenty to sort but I’m glad we’ve made a good start now! 😊

Oatmilk1 · 14/08/2020 14:34

Well done @MrsR87

I have freaked myself out today realising it is 3 months exactly to my due date....

Jellycat2020 · 14/08/2020 14:54

@Oatmilk1 me too! 😊

wannabebump · 14/08/2020 15:11

@MrsR87 that's been a busy couple of weeks for you getting all that sorted!

I had my salon session today, hair is done, nails are done, feels so good! X

Well done @mrsr87! It's so nice to get it done isnt it? We have just decorated DS room and the nursery. The baby is getting his brothers furniture so its already set up in there. New carpet and room painted. Purchased some wall stickers and prints for the wall, just waiting for DH to put them up!

I am so so hoping for a cooler night tonight. My HG has flared up with a vengence in this horrific heat. Back to being signed off and feeling very sorry for myself.

Think I am having the baby at 39 weeks so will be exactly 3 months to go on Weds. Really wishing the time away!

Addler · 14/08/2020 16:13

I had a pregnancy massage and manicure today for my birthday. I cried during the back massage, fell asleep, and then couldn't talk afterwards. I haven't felt so relaxed since before I got pregnant. I've bought some of the cream because it smelled so nice and told DP he needs to YouTube techniques

MrsR87 · 14/08/2020 16:21

@FilthyforFirth

Me too. I’ve got a splitting headache and I swear it’s a combination of heat and no sleep!

Wigglebum87 · 14/08/2020 17:25

I thought it was supposed to be getting cooler? Blush

Tiniestsky · 14/08/2020 19:01

Hey ladies, how you all getting on?
I'm 26+4 and I'm really struggling mentally with the whole baby movement thing, I've spoken to the midwife who says not to worry about patterns until 28 weeks but I can't help it, I thought he was getting into a bit of a routine and then it all changed and now seems more quiet, only kicking a few times every few hours. I'm not sure if it's cos he has his back to my front that I don't feel it as much or what but it's really messing with my head and anxiety levels. Just don't know what's normal and ok x

wannabebump · 15/08/2020 08:34

@Tiniestsky I've been told the same by the MW -
28 weeks is the point for a pattern. She told me it's to do with brain maturity or something along those lines. I do find though that on days that I'm more active, Baby is quieter - I've read our motions send them to sleep? On lazy days, I get much more movement. X

What car seats is everyone going for? We had a mama and papa's appointment today to look at some and I had the maxi cosi cabriofix in mind but after speaking to the lady she was saying about some of the other maxi cosi ones that are I size compliant which are apparently much better so now I'm torn and not sure if any of these are compatible with our travel system.

My son never really had a pattern to movements even after 28 weeks. I'd just feel him a random times. This time baby is quite quiet some days but with the hot nights lately and not sleeping I've noticed he's pretty active during the night so wondering if that's why he's quiet some days! It's hard to know when to worry and when not to.

Has anyone been suffering with any swelling? My ankles have really swollen recently not sure if heat related or because I do office work so can be sat sometimes longer than I realise.

bedjolly · 15/08/2020 16:34

I was looking at the maxi cosi one too because I got the Venicci Trinum pram and the maxi cosi car seat fits onto it so.

MoreGinPlease2020 · 15/08/2020 16:34

@NatalieH2220 We've gone for the Maxi Cosi Pebble Pro with the FamilyFix 2 base. It fit the best in our cars and was compatible with the Uppababy pram.

NatalieH2220 · 15/08/2020 16:50

@MoreGinPlease2020 can I ask how much you paid for both if you don't mind me asking? This is one of the ones the lady was talking about today which looked good.

MoreGinPlease2020 · 15/08/2020 17:09

@NatalieH2220 £199 for the seat and £169 for the base, plus a bit of a discount as we bought through a small independent shop.

Pinktruffle · 15/08/2020 17:16

We went for the Silvercross Motion I-size. It's a 360 seat that lasts from newborn to age 4. It is a fixed one though and isn't designed to be taken in and out of the car.

Wise0wl · 15/08/2020 18:06

@wannabebump I’ve definitely had more movement on days where I sit still more, when I’m really active baby barely moves!

All of a sudden this week I’m sure my bump has really grown and I’ve got a couple of small stretch marks which has caused me to have a wobble. I know they’ll fade and there’s nothing I can do about them though!

Hope you’re all ok and have survived the heat.
