I second what @HarrietM87 says about wait lists! We've found the pram we wanted but we had to get another colour due to the wait time!

Addler · 05/08/2020 21:37

Feeling disappointed this evening. DP's parents invited us to a bbq at the weekend, but after the last time we saw them when they smoked constantly near me and I kept having to go inside to get away from it, he sent his mum an article about the dangers of secondhand smoke to an unborn baby and asked her to please read it as it was important to him.

She's reacted horribly, said not to talk to her as she's really upset right now and that it's her garden and she'll do what she wants and she doesn't smoke inside and to not bother coming around.

I would be okay if it was a long garden and they smoked down at the end, but it's a small patio and they're right next to me.

Now DP is really upset and I feel like once again I'm the bad guy in his family's eyes, as we've already told them we're looking at moving back to my home country next year.

wannabebump · 05/08/2020 22:14

Another one for checking waiting times! We were told by a couple of pram shops that stock was limited for certain brands until things picked up again. When they initially reopened, stock was ok as it was made pre-covid but as that's sold, they're seeing a knock on effect as the supply isn't there.

We ordered our next to me style crib this week as some places were quoting 10 weeks/October for delivery! X

@BG1234 I had my 24 week phone appointment today, like you and others haven’t seen anyone face to face yet and feel anxious as a FTM.

I raised concerns that I hadn’t had my blood pressure or urine tested since 12 weeks and she was really unconcerned and said they’d sort it all out at 28 weeks. I’ve been all over the place emotionally and cried at her but she didn’t seem concerned about that either. I guess I’ll wait 3 weeks and see what happens at 28 weeks?! I hope you’re doing ok, and totally get how you feel

bedjolly · 06/08/2020 13:27

@Pink15 THANK YOU for saying when your bump is supposed to be measured. A midwife told me I would start getting measured at all my future midwife appointments, I was only 20 weeksConfused

Wigglebum87 · 06/08/2020 14:14

Oh dear, I've just opened a bag of "sharing" skittles and they're everything I didnt know I needed!

Sorry for veering off topic Grin

BG1234 · 06/08/2020 15:23

Hi @Wise0wl, I had my phone appointment this morning and she said that’s pretty much the end of the phone appointments. She’s booking me in for a face to face in a few weeks for my 28 weeks and from then on they should be more frequent and in person.
Ive been reassured so far by regular movements and she confirmed that’s all I’ve got to go on at the moment.
So just a few more weeks to go for us x

wannabebump · 06/08/2020 21:19

@bedjolly my midwife at 16 weeks measured my bump, midwife at 22 weeks then said they don't start measuring it until 28 weeks... so conflicting! However, it's definitely growing so we'll see what happens at the 28 week appointment x

@wannabebump MWs are great but there's such a lack of communication sometimes. I have my 28 week appointment coming up on 12 Aug. I hope everything goes well for you and baba Xx

wannabebump · 06/08/2020 22:10

@bedjolly I totally agree that they're fab but the miscommunication sometimes is mind boggling! I'm FTM so just trying to go with the flow! Hope all goes well with your appointment too x

@BG1234 I’m so glad you were reassured! I’ve got my 28 week appt booked in now too on 26th Aug!

NatalieH2220 · 07/08/2020 06:04

@Pushingnic I ordered my travel system after the 20 week scan. It's due next week and will live in the garage until I'm on maternity leave when I'll try and figure out how to use it.

I haven't met a midwife yet. Last appointment was booking in but do have a 28 week one booked in. Been left to it this pregnancy so looking forward to actually having a face to face in a few weeks.

bokchoy · 07/08/2020 13:43

I have been quiet lucky to have all my midwife appointments face to face from the beginning. My midwife would ask some questions over the phone first and then have me in to do my urine and all those other checks. So that limited the time I was with her during the appointment.

I do think it's "more essential" for face to face from 28 weeks onwards.

Addler · 07/08/2020 13:45

I had my whooping cough vaccine on Tuesday, didn't have any pain or tenderness at all until today when the area is now a little red, hard and sore and I've got pain in my armpit and neck so assuming swollen lymph nodes. I'm guessing it's a normal immune response but confused as to why it's only started 3 days later!

And to happen on the hottest day when I already feel miserable and gross Sad

bedjolly · 07/08/2020 18:23

@wannabebump it really is. I'm a FTM also so it's stressful knowing what normal and what isn't. But thank you xx

wannabebump · 08/08/2020 11:14

Anyone else with cravings they can't appease?!

A thirst that water won't quench, Ive gone off cola, diluting juice isn't hitting the spot either... but I don't actually know what I want 😅

And i really want a greggs tuna mayo baguette 😂 haven't had mayo though since finding out I was pregnant though!

OP posts:
AnxiousLady1 · 08/08/2020 11:22

@wannabebump Have you gone off mayo or do you just have concerns about eating it while pregnant? I've had several tuna melts/mayo sandwiches over course of the pregnancy and they've been delish. I've been using veganaise, but that's purely coincidence as I tried it pre pregnancy and didn't notice a difference so just stuck with it in my regular shop 🤷‍♀️

wannabebump · 08/08/2020 12:11

@AnxiousLady1 a bit of both! I couldn't find a jar that had the info on it that the nhs website said to stick to so I didn't bother! A tuna mayo baguette would go down a treat though, or chicken and chips with mayo on the side 😅

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 08/08/2020 13:34

Hellmans mayo is pasteurized, they have to say it in the box if it's not so it perfectly safe in pregnancy if you want to make your own tuna mayo sandwich. I double checked on their website and they confirm it's safe.

Alternatively, most vegan mayos are really good. I was craving coleslaw earlier in my pregnancy and got the Plant Food range one from Mark's and Spencer's and it was amazing, so much so that I'm switching to it permanently!

Fouryearslater · 08/08/2020 15:20

I didn’t know mayo was off the menu! You’d be hard pushed to find shop bought stuff (including stuff used in the likes of greggs) that wasn’t pasteurised.

AnxiousLady1 · 08/08/2020 15:36

After all the talk about tuna mayo I made a tuna mayo sandwich for lunch 👌

MrsR87 · 08/08/2020 15:56

I hadn't even thought of mayo. I've been eating it pretty much everyday!

Yes. I'm the same with drinks. I'm always thirsty. The one thing I've found that quenches my thirst is the Robinsons creations mint and lime cordial, but made with sparkling water. I wouldn't normally drink it as it's not low sugar but it really hits the spot. It tastes just like a monitor!

Quick question, does anyone else only really feel baby moving when you lay on your back? This is mainly when I feel movement, and I know I shouldn't lay on my back so I only do it for a few minutes at a time. Is this anything I should worry about?

YES! Baby really kicks me hard when I'm on my back, he kicks me hard most of the time but when I'm on my back it's more frequent. I do try and not lay on my back a lot but feeling him kicking is nice.
