Guys I'm experiencing pains in my left side lower stomach area, do you reckon this is anything to worry about ?

HarrietM87 · 14/07/2020 12:16

Just weighed myself and I haven’t put on any weight in the last 4 weeks. Means my 1 stone weight gain at 19 weeks is now in the normal range 🤣. So weird because I’ve been eating exactly the same and my bump has grown a lot...must just not be linear.

Addler · 14/07/2020 13:31

I think I've finally felt some movements the last few days, but can't be sure. I never felt any little pops or flutters as most people seem to, just started feeling 'thumps' when I was exactly 20 weeks. It's been happening more often throughout the day now, but I feel a bit horrid because I don't actually like the feeling!

Some of the stronger ones just feel so weird, it doesn't feel 'magical' or lovely like I thought it would and I feel a bit mean.

This is provided it is actually the baby moving and not just a lump of calcified poo bumping around on my intestinal walls... Hmm

Pink15 · 14/07/2020 20:14

@Addler I was the same I felt distinctive movement like pokes and never had those pops/flutters. Sometimes the movements gross me out a bit but I have to admit I did get very emotional when my husband felt it for the first time! But it is very strange and will take some getting used to. I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of!

wearenotacodfish · 14/07/2020 21:32

To the person asking about the pain in your ribs I had this and I've been hospitalised. Been in two days and had all the tests going and it looks like it's a kidney infection but I also have really low iron, haemoglobin and B12. I've got ketones in my urine too. Feeling pretty grim so I definitely suggest you get yourself checked out. I have been lurking for ages, I'm due twin girls in November but didn't want to read and run because I've been googling this pain for weeks and for me it did turn out to be an issue. They also spent quite a long time ruling out pre-eclampsia.

Fouryearslater · 14/07/2020 21:37

@Addler I’m the same. It’s all a bit alien. I felt the same last time. It’s not natural to have something moving in there 😄

Wigglebum87 · 14/07/2020 22:04

Did anyone else feel really nauseous after the whooping cough vaccine?

HarrietM87 · 14/07/2020 22:57

@Wigglebum87 yes I did, both times. Also had a really swollen arm that was painful for a few days. Worth it I suppose!

Wigglebum87 · 15/07/2020 07:43

@HarrietM87 thank you! Just checking it was normal! Think I may be getting to that freaking out stage!

Redbellblue · 15/07/2020 10:03

@wearenotacodfish oh dear! Hope you get sorted soon! Thanks for the advice, my midwife is ringing me today so I will make sure to mention it

Frustrating morning already!
Anyone hating work?

I sent HR my MAT B1 Form.

With my workplace you have to send a maternity leave application form off too. But it has to be sent by my manager. Just spoke to HR and surprise surprise my manager didn't send it to them so they had no idea when I'm going on maternity leave and have done no calculations on what pay I'd get.

I'd sent the form to my manager 7 bloody weeks ago!

And just an update on everything else work related, I did write a complaint 4 weeks ago. It's being dealt with informally by a senior manager.

I've been off sick with stress and anxiety. I'm such a different person without that manager hanging over my head.

Pink15 · 15/07/2020 11:39

@Clove20 glad to hear it's being dealt with and you've got a new manager!!

Clove20 · 15/07/2020 11:42

@pink15 oh no I don't have a new manager. It's just that the complaint is about my manager so a senior manager has to deal with it all x

Amiz · 15/07/2020 15:01

Happy with the news I got today. I'd been booked in a mysteriously name anatenal clinic today and I was sure what its wasnt about as I'm a bit of a medical mine field. Last time I was under three different consultants all with their own agenda and it took me kicling off to get them to tlak to each other. I presumed it would be and consultant saying they are going to give me a ECS. But turned out to be the cardiologist I saw last time who was very nice had seen my name on an MDT. And as she'd looked after me last time she just wanted to say hi and tweak my meds a bit and promised to make sure everything will be joined up this time. And she is more than happy for me to be inducted at 38 weeks or when the time comes as she remembered how much i hated the idea or a c-section last time.

wannabebump · 15/07/2020 15:31

What's the best shops with an in-store of maternity stuff? I'm at the end of my tether ordering online, not fitting, sending back 😫 I know you can't try anything on just now but I could at least gauge the sizes and have a reasonable guess at it. X

Had my 20+3 scan today and having a boy! The baby wasn’t facing the right way so I had to do star jumps and burpies while drinking hot chocolate for 45 minutes! Two taxi cab drivers thought I’d completely lost it, then a woman nearby sitting on a hospital bench said ‘baby not playing ball?’ It was all very funny, but finally turned around. Hope you guys had as much fun as I did! FTM so learning so much!!

Pink15 · 16/07/2020 09:07

@wannabebump I'm struggling too! Also keep returning clothes 😭 I've had a look in new look and H&M in real life but the selection is pretty poor it's basically only basics... leggings and vest tops etc

@Iona1985🤣🤣

wannabebump · 16/07/2020 09:19

@Iona1985 that's funny! Congrats on your boy news! 💙

@Pink15 same, fed up sending things back. But my options are thin in the ground now I'm 23 weeks - maybe I'm being too fussy! x

@wannabebump @Pink15

I’ve found that the cheaper stuff from the high street I’ve bought has not been great in terms of fit. I’ve bought a few bits and bobs from next that for nicely. The best clothes I have bought in terms of fit, style and quality have been from JoJo Maman and Seraphine. Seraphine is quite pricey but I’ve only bought things in the sale or with a voucher code. I got a beautiful wrap dress last week for £29 instead of £65. Far superior to the quality and for I would get for £29 on the high street.

MeandSpud · 16/07/2020 09:47

I've only shopped online, as I'm still avoiding all shops in person, but I've had bits from Dorothy Perkins and George (ASDA), which I've been happy with - they're quite basic bits, ie. jeans, denim shorts, tshirts, but that's all I've needed for now. (But I must admit, I usually order everything in 2 sizes and send half back.)

wannabebump · 16/07/2020 09:51

@MrsR87 next was my first port of call but for trousers it's been a nightmare! I've barely been out so it's a real daunting task x

I’ve also only bought online - haven’t wanted to go in any shops! But I remember from last pregnancy that the H&M selection instore was always woeful but very good online.

Also agree that seraphine is fantastic. I got a couple of full price dresses there first time round for work and then once I knew my size /styles I liked I got lots more on eBay.

ASOS can be really good too but hit and miss as with their normal clothes!

Wigglebum87 · 16/07/2020 09:59

I've had a couple of tops from Asos, and a pair of trousers for work if I eventually go back, they fit well x

MrsR87 · 16/07/2020 09:59

@wannabebump
I’ve only been to work and supermarket. I’ve bought all my clothes online. The black trousers from JoJo Maman are my favourite. They were £35...so similar price to next but they are so comfy and don’t show a VPL. I’m 5”7 and with flats to a low heel they are the perfect length for me, so perhaps not great if you are petite.
I have found the offerings of a lot of high street Shops (even online) to be very disappointing.
