I do hope it’s the beginning of the end for you. My scan went well, but was hanging upside down by the time she finished trying to get it to move to do all the checks 😂

LozEliza · 08/07/2020 21:40

Omg I have sciatica pain in my right bum cheek as well! Glad it's not just me!

littlegem84 · 09/07/2020 06:52

@HarrietM87 I've r the last week, I've seven our trust fo from allowing partners for up to 2 hrs after the baby is born to 6/until discharged . It's such a massive change that I think unless there is another uplift in COVID cases before our babes are due, things will return a bit to 'normal'.

NatalieH2220 · 09/07/2020 09:47

Had my 20 week scan yesterday and all looking good. She was very happy with baby and managed to check everything she needed to. Feel really relieved as was quite anxious before. Got another scan at 36 weeks to check position and growth, hoping my husband can come to that as he's missed them all up until now even the private ones as had to stay with our 3yo.

littlegem84 · 09/07/2020 15:43

@HarrietM87 I must have been tired as I've just noticed my reply to you is total gibberish 🤣

HarrietM87 · 09/07/2020 15:47

Ha @littlegem84 it made sense to me! And I completely agree with you. I’ve opted for a home birth anyway so hopefully not affected by any of this stuff anyway!

Clove20 · 09/07/2020 21:20

Feeling abit frustrated today with the pandemic. I had a call earlier from the hospital and they told me I still couldn't go to my 20 week scan with my partner. So he will have to wait in the car park again.
Only for a few hours later government to announce more places opening and also its so clear that each hospital has their own guidelines around how they navigate everything during this time.

Just really hoping that the midwifery led unit where I live is able to open back up by the time baby is due. They had to close and all the staff were sent to other hospitals.

FirstTimeMum31 · 10/07/2020 07:34

Hi All, I'm due 8th November, it's my first baby. I know I shouldn't but have been comparing myself to others who are pregnant. I'm 23 weeks Sunday and worried as I can honestly say I'm not sure I've felt any established movement from the baby yet. At my most recent scan last week baby was very active and at scans before has been extremely active so I know baby has been moving. I have an anterior placenta and I am overweight so sure these factors have a part to play. Can anyone recall when they've really felt movement in first time pregnancies? Sorry for the long post, I'm just starting to worry a bit xx

Missworry92 · 10/07/2020 09:46

@FirstTimeMum31 I think you shouldn't worry as you said you have anterior placenta. The movements are just little feelings of bubbles etc and it takes time. Don't stress too much as thats not good for either of you. My midwife told me it's good to have a bath as babies tend to like them and you are more likely to feel them in the bath 😊 it's my first pregnany and I'm also with anterior placenta and I only have odd little feelings but I'm very petite so I think that might be why xx

wannabebump · 10/07/2020 10:53

@FirstTimeMum31 I'm 22+1 and I can feel "bubbles" and the odd stronger one but no established pattern. The midwife says this won't happen until about 24/25 weeks - Im slightly overweight and I have also have an anterior placenta. At all my scans the baby has been giving lots of movement, including at my 22 week appointment where the midwife used a Doppler to hear the heartbeat, she had to wait for a bit for baby to settle before she could listen as baby was moving lots! Hope that helps x

@FirstTimeMum31 I’m on my second pregnancy with a second anterior placenta. Still not feeling anything definite so certainly no need to worry.

SMcG1 · 10/07/2020 15:03

Hey everyone, I’ve not been active on the forum for a while but still been following it. I had a private scan this week so my partner could come. It was just a wellbeing scan but during it they let you see the baby in 4d for a bit. It was amazing to be able to see what his little face looks like! I kind of wish I had just got the whole thing done in 3D but my partner doesn’t like it! Lol.

Just a quick question about maternity leave. I keep reading that you have to let your employer know in writing you are pregnant 15 weeks before you’re due. My employer has known for much longer than that but it wasn’t in writing that I told her. Do I have to send her a letter as well? It just seems a bit silly to send a letter when she has known for months.

Pinktruffle · 10/07/2020 15:13

@SMcG1 I think the MatB1 form is considered to be the official 'in writing' notification so you just need to give that to your employer

HarrietM87 · 10/07/2020 15:29

Yes that’s right @SMcG1 - you should give them your MATB1 form by 25 weeks pregnant as they will use this to claim SMP on your behalf.

SMcG1 · 10/07/2020 16:30

@Pinktruffle @HarrietM87 I’m still off work at the moment and trying to get in contact with my boss is a bit of a nightmare. Should I just send it to her? I’m 25 weeks next week so I’m starting to panic about it a bit.

HarrietM87 · 10/07/2020 16:34

Do you have a HR contact? I emailed mine to her. If not then just email your boss.

TangBloodyFastic · 10/07/2020 16:46

How did you all receive your MatB1? My MW is so slack i doubt I will get it without having to chase her

HarrietM87 · 10/07/2020 16:51

@TangBloodyFastic I was given it at my 20 week scan. In my first pregnancy they gave it to me at my first midwife appointment after the 20 week scan. Do chase her if you haven’t got it as your employer will need it.

TangBloodyFastic · 10/07/2020 16:55

Thanks @HarrietM87
I'll defo have to chase her as I will meet her for the first time at my 28wk appt 🙄
I'll give her a call on Monday. There was no mention of it at my scan but there was only the sonographer present and didn't see anyone else. Straight in and straight back out again
I'm getting a bit fed up of chasing them for stuff. If I wasn't on here I wouldn't know that I should have had it by now. 😠

OurLittlePumpkin1991 · 10/07/2020 17:07

I had to chase my midwife several times. She forgot to post it. She's also extremely difficult to reach and emails don't get responded to either. Hate to complain however it just adds to the "on your own" feeling I've felt so far in this pregnancy.

Thankfully I received it yesterday (I'm 22+1 now) and handed it to my boss today. My boss can be equally slow at getting things done, so hopefully she'll process it ASAP. I'm leaving it with her and will address it nearer the 25 week mark.

It's awful having to keep chasing people.

HarrietM87 · 10/07/2020 17:35

That’s rubbish @TangBloodyFastic and @OurLittlePumpkin1991. I haven’t met my midwife in person yet either but at both my 12 and 20 week scans they had a midwife in the scanning dept who went round and did everyone’s blood pressure and urine and checked the next appointments were scheduled etc. I also got my whooping cough vaccine that day.

All the rest of my appointments are at home now - feels strange that I potentially won’t be back in hospital again!

OurLittlePumpkin1991 · 10/07/2020 18:01

@harrietM87 I get my Whooping cough at my 28 week midwife appt. I need to book it in for the same day. That's the next time I'll see anyone, supposedly what with covid, face to face! Seems crazy as I'm a FTM and was expecting more support and guidance. I guess it would be different had covid not been around so what can you do. I haven't had my blood pressure or urine checked since 13 week scan, lol!!!

SMcG1 · 10/07/2020 19:11

@HarrietM87 thanks very much I will email her it.

MillieFTM · 10/07/2020 20:37

I only had my blood pressure and urine done at 8 week booking appointment...I'm 22 weeks now, and won't see midwife until 28 weeks! 😬 FTM and pretty sure majority of my info is coming from Mumsnet!

Pink15 · 10/07/2020 22:19

Does anyone know do I have to take my pro rata annual leave before maternity leave in November?
