Faint lines on First Response

Hello I'm new to posting on sites such as this so I hope I've posted in the right place!
I just would like a few thoughts please.
I am on the mini pill, and usually have a period although not regular, between every 3 to 5 weeks. I haven't had anything since Feb so I took a pregnancy test a few days ago to rule that out before making an appt with gp to get checked. Imagine my surprise when I saw a faint line, so I did the other one in the packet which showed the same. Hubby says the line is too faint (think he's also wishing this is the case lol). I have since done three more, all the same result. I left a sample to the gp to check too which came back negative today but was told to re check myself next week as theirs won't pick up v early results!
Sorry for the long post but I feel like I need to get this off my chest with people who don't know me. Anyone else had a similar experience and what was the outcome. Thanks x

Have you got photos of the tests? Did they show up within the 3mins?

daisychain1620 · 17/06/2020 21:32

Hi there, yes I have photos but I don't think I'm able to post them as I'm new on here. The lines came up straight away.
Maybe I can post photos tomorrow

Still can't post pics🙁. I did another one today (I just happened to pass a chemist on my way home from work so nipped in) and to me the line looks a bit darker. So annoying I can't post any pics.
I never appreciated how long this wait is, finding out for sure

I would say a line is a line! The GP pregnancy tests are not sensitive. So they may not have picked up. You may just be really early? I got a positive at 9DPO and it was barely there!

daisychain1620 · 18/06/2020 19:27

Thanks for replying, I can't believe how much obsessing I'm doing! I know that writing on here won't change anything but it feels good to get this out and have someone answer lol. Hopefully I can post a pic tomorrow (silly no posting rule for newbies🙂)

I can finally add some photos if you lovely people would have a look and let me know what you think. The first were from last Saturday, through to Thurs being the last photo. I have taken two others both still faint and were a brand called Answer.
Thanks for looking and for any thoughts

Can definitely see lines on those. In a couple of days, they’ll hopefully be a lot darker.

Alittleshortforaspacepooper · 20/06/2020 07:52

Those are positive tests OP!!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 20/06/2020 07:54

They're definitely positive lines Smile
Mine with DS looked exactly like that and DH didn't believe them for a week or so until I was far along enough for a digital to work.
Congratulations!

BubbleBoop · 20/06/2020 07:55

I’ve had evap lines from first response before, but they were MUCH fainter than yours. I think yours are positive

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 08:19

Thanks for answering! I thought the last one didn't look so good mind you.
I am usually so matter if fact about everything so I've surprised myself by being obsessive and constantly looking up pictures on line of other people's tests!
I thought they should have gotten darker as they've pretty much stayed the same all week.
Thank you for answering, I feel like I'm not seeing things, hubby is adamant there are no lines lol. I have more tests arriving from Amazon today (I live in a small village so I can't buy a test at my local chemist- that would be gossip fuel!) so I'll just have to be patient if that's possible 😁

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 12:55

Ok, i did Boots tests there but I'm now thinking I'm not pregnant. Do you see anything?
Far too faint I think as I first got a faint frer line this day last week, surely it should be darker. I'm dementing myself.

I found I didn’t get proper proper dark lines until about a week after my missed period.
So as you don’t know when that would be, you could still be early-ish.
I would say that if you have been getting +ve for a week, you should be able to get a positive on a digital test... can you try one of them?

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 13:51

Thanks for replying, yes I've done ordered which are arriving today sometime.
I know I'm obsessing but after getting a much darker line on wed I feel like they're getting lighter. Granted today's boots ones are s different brand but if I got a faint last Saturday then I would have thought they'd be less of the squinters they are now. I know all if this changes nothing but it's a good release for me lol

They all look positive to me!

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 14:06

Thanks for replying, this was the shock of all shocks last Saturday with the tests I shared above, hubby still says I'm not and after the gp confirmed I wasn't I'm left in limbo. I think that's why I'm obsessively peeing on tests! If they had gotten darker I feel I'd know for sure but this wishy washy line is driving me crazy! I haven't shared with anyone about this other than hubby but I haven't told him I've tested since the gp said it's negative so I'm doing this alone and with you guys, that's why I'm quite needy on here writing big posts like this lol

Hello

I'm so sorry your husband won't believe you, can't imagine how horrible that is and having to go through it all alone!
To me there is a line, it doesn't matter how faint, a line is a line and a line means pregnant (you don't get a false positive)!
I'd go back to the docs and show them your photos. Can they not do a blood test? I'm sure that's more accurate 🤔
Good luck. Hope you get the result you want Smile

TJ17 · 20/06/2020 14:22

Oh and another thing, when are you testing?

HCG levels tend to be higher (meaning a darker line) when the test is taken with your first urine of the day. Try taking one in the morning first thing when you wake up and see what it's like then. Also try to stick to one brand (as all will have different sensitivity) so will be easier to compare.

With my second pregnancy my period was a week late before I even got a faint line which I thought was odd. I tested obsessively every day from my period being late and didn't even get a faint line but was very much pregnant (29 weeks currently!)

Lastly, until you know for sure it's safer to act as though you definitely are pregnant, I.e no drinking, stop taking the mini pill etc

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 14:24

Thank you 😊. I'll test again tomorrow and probably after that again until I'm convinced myself and it's more or a darker certain line.
This was very much unplanned, we have two teenagers and while last week I was shocked I'm getting used to the idea and really want this to be so. I'm trying not to get excited incase I'm not pregnant but I amSmile

Ahh how lovely Smile makes sense as to why your hubby is in denial a little bit haha but it's important not to just ignore the lines as you could well be!
I'd deffo go back to the docs and request a blood test, just read up on it and it says the following:

Blood tests are done in a doctor's office. They can pick up hCG earlier in a pregnancy than urine tests can. Blood tests can tell if you are pregnant about six to eight days after you ovulate. Doctors use two types of blood tests to check for pregnancy:
• Quantitative blood test (or the beta hCG test) measures the exact amount of hCG in your blood. So it can find even tiny amounts of hCG. This makes it very accurate.
• Qualitative hCG blood tests just check to see if the pregnancy hormone is present or not. So it gives a yes or no answer. This blood test is about as accurate as a urine test.

At least you'd know for sure and have it in black and white! No more wondering.

daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 14:28

Sorry your last post just popped up there. Yes, Ive mostly been using frer but I was at boots so nipped in, they didn't have much left so boots own brand was used. If I test later in the day I try to hold my pee for a few hours and not drink so much if I know I've a test arriving (I usually buy on line)

OP posts:
daisychain1620 · 20/06/2020 14:30

I think I will phone and ask for a blood test, I didn't realize you could request that, thank you

There's some good info on here too, you could maybe show this to your husband:

daisychain1620 · 21/06/2020 08:19

Ok so I've just got another v faint line on frer but a Not Pregnant on the Clear blue digital and have to say I really didn't like seeing it in black and white. If I really was then surely it would show on the digital now as my first faint lines were seen last sat. A bit gutted really. Maybe it was a chemical that I've heard about
