Faint lines on First Response

Hello I'm new to posting on sites such as this so I hope I've posted in the right place!
I just would like a few thoughts please.
I am on the mini pill, and usually have a period although not regular, between every 3 to 5 weeks. I haven't had anything since Feb so I took a pregnancy test a few days ago to rule that out before making an appt with gp to get checked. Imagine my surprise when I saw a faint line, so I did the other one in the packet which showed the same. Hubby says the line is too faint (think he's also wishing this is the case lol). I have since done three more, all the same result. I left a sample to the gp to check too which came back negative today but was told to re check myself next week as theirs won't pick up v early results!
Sorry for the long post but I feel like I need to get this off my chest with people who don't know me. Anyone else had a similar experience and what was the outcome. Thanks x

I’m sorry to hear that, it does sound like it could possibly be a chemical. Hope you are ok 💐

daisychain1620 · 21/06/2020 08:37

Thank you, it's been a weird week I must say! Going from almost freaking out last sat to now being gutted. I was sure I'd get darker lines today maybe even backed up by a 'you're having a baby' in the digital.

Oh sorry to hear that. I don't want to keep filling you with false hope but the clear blue digital tests really aren't very sensitive. I've had negatives on them before where I've tested early and still ended up being pregnant.
It is odd you are still getting such faint lines though, I'm sure I can see it in that last pic.

I'd still book another app with your GP if I was you and show them the photos of the positives. Ask for a blood test to be 100% sure.

Not wanting to scare you but faint positives can be ectopic sometimes which means you would want to find out sooner than later. Especially as you are on the mini pill as I did read that can give a higher chance of ectopic (hopefully you've stopped taking it for now just incase?)

daisychain1620 · 21/06/2020 21:11

Thanks TJ, yeah I know the digital are not as sensitive but if I was getting the first lines on frer last sat then surely it would pick something up now. I really can't believe how faint the line has got today so I've lost all hope tbh. I had already thought of an ectopic but I think the contrast from wed's test which was my strongest to today's is too much of a drop. I have a few wee cramps but nothing major, I keep going to the bathroom to check if I need to use a pad yet. I see what happens over the next few days and book in with the gp.
Thanks to anyone who has replied to me over the last few days, I've really appreciated it x

Yeah see what you mean. I'm sorry it's all been such a mind screw 🙁😩 hope it all becomes clear soon Thanks

daisychain1620 · 22/06/2020 14:05

Ok so following on from the saga of the last few days, I haven't done any more tests and have not had a bleed yet. I honestly thought it might start yesterday or last night as I had some cramps but nothing major. I'm convinced it was a chemical pregnancy.
I will phone the gp tomorrow but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone has has had a chemical where their hormones have dropped according to tests but no sign of bleeding. I don't think it's ectopic as the last test was so v faint

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread but I'll update anyway, someone might have words of wisdom.
I took another test (number one billion!) and it's still a faint positive. That's two weeks and one day of faint positives. How is this possible. The lines don't get darker and it's not fading away significantly. Stuck in limbo. Anyone else experienced this?

@daisychain1620 this must be so frustrating!! I found first response test really unreliable. I used really cheap strip tests from amazon or eBay called one step and found these really good when I was early. And a much cheaper option as I was a pee on a stick addict!!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

1ce1cebaby · 28/06/2020 21:47

I’m not sure if it helps but I’m currently trying to get a negative test following a miscarriage. I was to test after 3 weeks. I took a clear blue digital which showed as Pregnant so had to have bloods done that day and my hcg came back as 10 - so I’d say that means the CB digital is very sensitive- so I wouldn’t rule that negative out. But it’s very odd getting the faint positives on the other tests.

TJ17 · 28/06/2020 21:53

Oh @daisychain this must be driving you mad 😩 no experience to offer in terms of constant faint tests and no bleeding sorry (both times signs of chemical with me was bleeding)

Deffo speak to your GP and hopefully they will do bloods and monitor the HCG levels this way 🙏🏼

Hope you get answers soon, they are deffo positive tests but it's hard to get excited when they are so faint I'm sure! Don't rule anything out though and be too disheartened because you just never know! My midwife told me she recently had someone pregnant with twins who never got a positive test at all! Everyone is different.

I have everything crossed for you. Keep us updated Smile

daisychain1620 · 28/06/2020 22:13

Thank you guys for replying to me! It's comforting to know you've looked at these and can see the lines, sometimes I think I'm imagining it all. @1ce1cebaby and @TJ17sorry for lossesSad.

daisychain1620 · 28/06/2020 22:15

@Kendrick12 I meant to say that I did try other cheapest brands which showed the same faint line. I just keep using frer to compare as these were the fist ones I used. If this keeps up I'll maybe try the ones you had said, thank you x

OP posts:
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/06/2020 22:32

I would definitely contact your GP at this point. Faint positives can be a sign of ectopic so you may need to have HCG monitored and maybe a scan to rule that out.

Hope you get some answers soon.

daisychain1620 · 29/06/2020 09:34

Good luck! Very much looks positive again today!

What does your husband think now? Has he come round to the idea or does he still think it's not positive?xx

jammyone · 29/06/2020 09:55

Following with interest and fingers crossed for you OP!

daisychain1620 · 29/06/2020 10:20

Well I've just been keeping my new peeing hobby to myself however I showed him all the photos this morning due to me having an appt this afternoon. He still thinks there's not much there. He's adamant that the line would be there regardless and offered to pee on one himself to compare lol. (I've none left or I would have let him for the craic!)
I don't hold out much hope for a healthy pregnancy but I just need to get to the bottom of this.
I appreciate your eyes with the photos as I doubt myself and am almost searching for the lines now so it's great to know that others can see it too.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Let us know what happens with the blood tests but I do feel those lines are too faint for how long you've been testing unfortunately, do you feel pregnant at all? X

daisychain1620 · 29/06/2020 11:03

I think I did at the beginning, headaches for days which I had when I was pregnant before and I had a weird tinnitus flare up but both have gone now for about a week. I do have little cramps every now and again and felt like my period might start last weekend but there's been nothing

OP posts:
TJ17 · 29/06/2020 12:07

Hope the blood tests get some answers for you as it must be horrible being stuck in limbo like this! Really playing with your emotions 🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

daisychain1620 · 29/06/2020 17:07

Just back from getting bloods taken so I'll hear later this week.
This is a weird one and I've been trying to Google this but I can't seem to find anything similar to what I'm going through. I'll just have to wait it out.
Thanks for reading and your messages, I don't feel so alone!Smile

They look like my test from my almost 4yo son.

Hopefully you get the answer you want op.

daisychain1620 · 29/06/2020 18:43

@bestbrowsintown did yours all look like this? Where they faint like mine and not getting darker? Please give me your experience as everything I read points to chemical pregnancy or ectopic. I can't stop thinking about it x

OP posts:
bestbrowsintown · 29/06/2020 18:56

Once I had had 2 faint lines I stopped testing. As they say 'a line is a line'. My period never came so I knew I must be pregnant. I started having nausea around 6 weeks which really peaked at 8 weeks along with terrible fatigue.
I had an early scan at 8.5 weeks with that one as it was coming up to Christmas and we wanted to tell grandparents.
