@MilsCookie yes most people get a hugely unlikely result for Edwards and Pataus. Have you googled them? They are very rare conditions that are not compatible with life so very very different from down sydrome. Mine were also 1/100,000 for those for both my twins even though their down sydrome results were wildly different. Which especially makes no sense when you've had the nipt already tell you you have a one in over 10,000 chance of down sydrome for each twin! So the fact one of my twins had a higher risk even though neither of their dna was checked showed the test up to me as the complete guestimate it was. Especially when it comes to these crazy numbers that freak women out as they just seem so random! But your chances are so incredibly low and those results are excellent. Without the nipt for more precise dna testing, or an actual amio or CVS, which could (though rare) result in miscarriage) this is as accurate as it will be. But you are going to be scanned like a demon so you can relax about this stage now. Your results are low risk, and your babies are growing well.
You are going to have to trust your results now until your next anomonly scan which is where they can really identify markers for absolute definate for not only those conditions but other conditions like heart problems or stomach issues ect.
Those three conditions are so unlikely and even more unlikely not to be picked up. I think we do worry so much about them because they are the main ones talked about and in the public conscious, plus they are the big three we are tested for. But actually there are far more babies who have heart issues or growth problems, as well as a multitude of other things that can not develope as it should.
These are now my worries so welcome 🙄😅
Focus that they are bang on their growth pathway, my god that really is the news to celebrate with twins, these bloody trisomy tests cause so much stress and worry, that actually they make this stage unnecessary stressful for so many women like yourself. When a blood test like the nipt on the NHS would solve that for millions of anxious women. Rather then getting these seemingly random numbers however high or low, that confuse everything. Nipt doesn't give you set of numbers see, it uses 1/10,00 for you do not have the conditions or it says your baby very likely has the condition.
Your babies are growing and you are strong enough now to put the results in your folder and not look at them again. Your team is going to look after you so well and monitor everything 🤗
