Welcome @Ejb86 and gentle congratulations! Great to see more people joining, I think all of us still read the conception thread.

@MilsCookie I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry - if the consultant was concerned about anything at all, they would have said or would have wanted to see you earlier. I know it's hard not to be anxious with everything, especially with twins but you are in the best hands and it wont be long until your next scan at all!

Hope everyone is coping in this heat, geeze louise!!! I am missing the office air con for sure!! Looks like it is stormy from tomorrow onwards to shouldn't complain. Hope everyone else is ok

TerribleImagination · 25/06/2020 17:44

I’ve been painting my fence all day (chasing the shade!) 🥵 It’s SO HOT!

ChampooPapi · 25/06/2020 18:20

Congratulations @Ejb86 🙌 so happy for you and we will be here from here on in for you 💞

@MilsCookie my measurements were exactly the same as yours! How random is that! I was twelve and a half weeks so seems really spot on to me. They measured those first ones when you were like just over 11 weeks and between 11 and twelve weeks the baby grows an enormous amount my sonographer told me, more then between any other week previously.

You'll get the all clear soon, you have to leave it to the universe now, but I know how hard it is. There are other issues to worry about once your over this hurdle as obviously those three cromosonal problems arnt the only ones to worry about! It's like once they are done and dusted you have a whole host of other things to think about for the upcoming 20 week. It's bloody non stop but I can reassure you that the next month or so goes so quickly as you've got a scan in a few weeks and the midwife appointment, plus you start feeling more pregnant which I do think really helps 🤗

ChampooPapi · 25/06/2020 18:52

@Ejb86 how long were you trying for in the end? I'm thinking around 7 months from what I remember from the TTC thread. You have been through so much, I really think when it takes a while to conceive again though it sticks from what I've seen on here over the years. I will be checking for your updates, i know how emotional and difficult these first few weeks post positive test are, so keep us all updated on how your feeling. We've been there and we've got you 💜

MilsCookie · 25/06/2020 20:39

That's so good you can have an early reassurance scan @ejb86. I did that too at 6 weeks, then like you had a private scan at 8 weeks so my partner could see. Glad you're feeling okay too - you must just be feeling so happy right now! I don't think I'll ever forget how I felt seeing those 2 pink lines after seeing so many BFNs. I've been doing okay thank you - just had tons of headaches (one a day pretty much) and constantly starving hungry!! And obviously all the worry that comes with being pregnant with twins but just trying to stay positive 🤞🏻

@ChampooPapi no way?! You mean your twins NT measurements were 1.7mm and 2.7mm? That's so reassuring because yours are obviously doing really well! And that's so true about them having a growth spurt between 11 and 12 weeks - in the 5 days between scans they had both grown 1cm each! Which is a lot considering they're only about 6cm!

@whiffle77 thanks lovely 😘 I know - I need to trust the consultant knows what he's doing and he would've called me back sooner if he was concerned. Omg I know this heat - I normally love sunbathing and being in the sun but I can't handle it whilst pregnant!! DP and I brought our mattress downstairs last night to sleep in the lounge cos it's about 10 degrees cooler than our bedroom! 🤣 xxx

@TerribleImagination 12 weeks tomorrow!!! 😃🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

BecsterG · 25/06/2020 20:49

@Ejb86 I was also offered an early reassurance scan after I lost my twins last year but the early pregnancy unit made me wait until I was 8 weeks but they then gave me 2 which was great especially after a loss.

How's everyone coping with the heat? I'm struggling. I'm flaming out all the time!

@MilsCookie I know, woohoooo! Crazy how far away 12 weeks seemed when I got that BFP, but here it is 😍 Crossing everything for the dating scan on Monday 🤞🏻

@BecsterG The heat is TOUGH when you’re pregnant eh? I’m usually good in the heat, but I’ve had to stay in the shade all day doing the fence! Luckily my friend came over to help, so she did the sunny panels like an absolute legend!

BecsterG · 25/06/2020 21:12

Yes @TerribleImagination I'm all about the shade and our umbrella in the garden hasn't been up for years 😂. When I had my son I was heavily pregnant through the winter and it was so much better but I'm just grateful to be where I am.

Whiffle77 · 25/06/2020 21:36

I'm the same, massive sun worshiper normally but I've had to have the umbrella up too!! It never normally gets used, but this sun - it's a lot! Our downstairs is ok but bedroom very hot, luckily we have a fan. But yes I'm still just happy to be pregnant, and at least I'm not sweating in my work clothes around lots of other sweaty people!
This weather also really makes me want to drink A LOT of gin 😂
Oh fab, not long to wait now @terribleimagination! Hope the next few days go fast for you!

ChampooPapi · 25/06/2020 21:58

@MilsCookie yes I checked my notes again and one was 1,7 and the other was 2.8, so identical results practically. They are perfectly normal measurements and babies do grow a cm in that week, which is a big leap so the fact they were spot on for that too is very reassuring . It is honestly one thing after another but for now, relax and enjoy for the next few weeks 💜

MilsCookie · 25/06/2020 23:13

@ChampooPapi how intriguing that they were practically the same!! I know we're having different types of twins but you won't believe how much your message has reassured me!! 😅💜

Ejb86 · 26/06/2020 02:46

@ChampooPapi you are right! This was cycle 7. My cycles are still all over the place. I've been having positive OPKs anywhere between cd20 and 24, so this month I waited and started testing on cd15 only to get a blazing positive! I ovulated 8 days earlier than last cycle. I think that's when I knew that my body was ready. I feel like I've known for months that this would be THE month.

ChampooPapi · 26/06/2020 08:10

@Ejb86 I was the complete opposite and thought that the 5th month we were trying would definitely not be the month. I drank like it was going out of fashion and we only had sex a handful of times rather then the smep type method we'd been previously doing. To be honest I still don't believe I'm actually pregnant a lot of the time, though retching this morning when I looked at an avocado did remind me somewhat. When you've had your first scan and are ready, I'll add you to the list 💃

MilsCookie · 26/06/2020 08:27

That's amazing @Ejb86 - so the only reason it's taken 7 months is because your body just hadn't quite adjusted after what you went through last year. There was no problem at all, your body just needed a bit of time and when it was ready, bam! Pregnant straight away!! I also read on the other thread that your little boy said you had a baby in your tummy before you did the test?! I definitely think kids have a sixth sense!! 🥰

MilsCookie · 26/06/2020 09:00

Can I ask what you're all doing to prevent stretch marks? I've just been lathering bio oil on my tummy, boobs and hips/bum but with it being twins there's a chance I will humongous so want to try and avoid them as much as possible!!

Zoey36 · 26/06/2020 09:59

@MilsCookie I absolutely think kids have a weird sense! I was breastfeeding when I got pregnant so I think she had a bit of a clue from that too...maybe hormones or something? But she ABSOLUTELY knew! I guessed I was pregnant because she was feeding so much more! With my first, 2 girls in my class (5 and 6 at the time) told me about my baby. 1 before I knew and the other I was about 5 weeks! 😱

Stretch marks....I never did anything last time and I have a few under my belly button which had faded a lot in 2 years! My SIL also did nothing, had twins and hasn't got a mark on her!!! She can be your hope haha! I have got Bio Oil this time....I'm using it but not holding on to hope....I feel like I've got nothing to lose anyway because I'm already 'marked' haha!

TerribleImagination · 26/06/2020 10:12

@MilsCookie I haven’t started with the stretch mark prevention yet, although based on how bloated I am every day I probably should 😂😂 I did ask my friend though, she’s a teeny person so was HUGE when she was pregnant and there’s not a stretch mark on her! She said she used a neals yard one at first, and then the one from the my expert midwife range. She rates that entire range so so highly (she’s also a midwife haha) especially the nipple balm and spritz for bits for after birth!

Ejb86 · 26/06/2020 10:19

@Zoey36 I'm bf my 2.5year old which I think is probably how he knew. When I lost his sisters he had pretty much weaned, but started again when my milk came in, so thinking that weaning will be coming again in the near future.

Ejb86 · 26/06/2020 10:23

@MilsCookie I'm embracing the tiger stripes. I have loads from having George, they extended with the girls, and will continue to grow this time I expect. Xx

Whiffle77 · 26/06/2020 11:27

Oh wow @Zoey36 and @ejb86 that's crazy with regards the little kids! I wonder how they know?! My mum swears her cat knew she was pregnant with me before she did - suddenly became obsessed with lying on her tummy! Her dog def knows I'm pregnant too - she is very loving and flings herself at me normally, but has really toned it down and is much more gentle.
I'm gathering myself up with oil and moisturiser on my tummy, boobs and thighs! I have a palmers oil, and derma oil. I think if you are going to get them nothing can stop them from what I've read! It's in your genes. But I think being well moisturised makes them heal faster and not last as long. I am pretty sure I'm going to be huge as I'm big already, which I'm surprised about as I'm so tall!

MilsCookie · 26/06/2020 13:52

@Zoey36 that's sooo spooky!! Although I've definitely been asked by 5 year olds if I have a baby in my tummy when there DEFINITELY wasn't and I was just bloated haha 😂 but yeah it definitely seems like young children and animals have a sixth sense, and especially if it changes your milk!

Thanks for all the recommendations with the stretch mark stuff - I know that it's probably down to genetics and if I get them, I get them and will certainly embrace them! But I think I'd like to try and prevent them if I can 😬

I got my screening results back this morning for down's, Edwards and Patau's and got
Down's: 1 in 11159
Edward's or Patau's: 1 in 100,000

Is it usually such a big difference between them? It said it was a lower risk result, although I know that they've based that on the NT measurements from the first scan (when I got 1.1mm and 1.2mm) I'm wondering if the results would change much if they used the NT results from weds (1.7mm and 2.7mm?) @ChampooPapi I feel like you'll have the answer to this haha - although you pretty much told me because of my age and those NT measurements they'd come back low risk anyway! 🤣

Anyway... feeling tentatively relieved about that!!

How is everyone else doing today? It's still BOILING here! 🥵

AlviesMam · 26/06/2020 18:54

Not coping in this heat at all. I'm really really struggling. Where is everyone located? I'm
In the north east and were due a storm any minute now!! Anyone had a storm yet? And how are you all in this heat? Xxx

TerribleImagination · 26/06/2020 18:56

@AlviesMam I’m in the North West and waiting for a storm too! I live in a Victorian terrace, so luckily it stays pretty cool in the house! I haven’t left the sofa today 😆 I’m sheltering in the cool and watching Glastonbury sets 🥰

AlviesMam · 26/06/2020 19:10

@TerribleImagination oh I wish I was cool! I'm sat in front of my fan in the living room and the sky seems to be getting more cloudier... I need rain to cool the air down !! 😁 xx

TerribleImagination · 26/06/2020 19:29

@AlviesMam Aww bless ya lovey! The storms are headed our way soon I think! Still blue skies here... was meant to storm earlier today but apparently not! Crossing fingers for that rain for you and cooler weather!
