@BS9790 I used a small suitcase when I had my DS and plan to do the same again this time. Is it no visitors at all? In Scotland you can ha e a visitor but I think it's one hour a day and one person. Worth checking nearer the time as obviously if you could have a visitor they could bring a few extra bits and help you out with your bags etc x

Thanks ladies!

@BecsterG, yes currently birth partner can be phoned to come in once your 4cm dilated and can stay for a short while after the birth. Still no visitors at all after that at my local hospital but hoping it might change before October!

I was thinking a hand luggage case, but not sure I'll fit everything in 😂 I'm expecting to have to stay in as I have low platelets so they'll want to monitor my bleeding I would think.

Do you use a separate bag for the babies things? Just their changing bag perhaps?
Who knew this part would require so much thinking 😂😂

ChampooPapi · 06/08/2020 21:48

I have heard rumblings that we may be in another lock down situation in October/November. Just amoungst the science community in oxford so god knows! My brother in one of them so it will definitely be something I will half expect as he is in the know so to speak. But hopefully they are wrong! But we must all be prepared I think for things being very tight still when we have our babies visitor wise. My consultant said they may deliver my two from 35-37 weeks especially if I get very uncomfortable so I'm expecting some time in hospital certainly as they will be so early plus c section recovery too. Even for late October, early November I've got no expectations that my partner will be nipping in and out, then if he can it'll be a bonus 😊

I saw someone on another pregnancy thread saying 'oh hopefully covid will be over by November' 🤯

If anything it could be worse because of the flue going round so they will be more vigilant, I do wonder where people get this all from sometimes, like they are oblivious to what's been happening and have just arrived on the planet this morning 🙄

AlviesMam · 07/08/2020 07:45

Just when I think I'm in a pattern with movement she suddenly stops being active on an evening then switches it up during the morning/day... this is so stressful! I don't think I'll ever be in a pattern so I'm going to find it hard if I ever have reduced movements!
Seen midwife yesterday apparently she is now head down, will find out more on my scan next week!
Still really annoyed my husband can't come to scans with me, I know it's hospital safety but we're from the same house hold , frustrating that we can all socialise in a beer garden or a pub and potentially mix households but my husband hasn't been apart of his own babys journey!! (Sorry just needed to vent!)
Luckily I have booked a 4d scan in a weeks time where he will be able to come.
Worrying about labour now too. I want my husband there from the start and so wish my Mam could be with me too, I'm scared of having flash backs of my still birth when I go back into a delivery suite and really don't think I could be alone at the start Sad

BecsterG · 07/08/2020 08:02

@BS9790 yes I had two bags. A wheels weekend suitcase had stuff for me for labour like snacks (although came home will all of them as labour too fast) pants, tops leggings, pjs, dressing gown (although I never wore it so won't be taking this time) makeup etc and I think a few baby things and then I had a rucksack I think with more stuff for us both. I was only in one night. The changing bag would work well. I will use my wee suitcase again and the changing rucksack I've bought for DS2.

The Covid situation is changing all the time so god knows why it will be like in a few months. You just have to be prepared I guess. It's all we can do.

My baby box arrives today(I live in Scotland). It just missed it when DS1 was born by a few months. I'm so excited to get it. It will be the first new stuff for the baby.

BecsterG · 07/08/2020 08:08

@ChampooPapi I've seen people say that too and I think they are a bit delusional when it comes to Covid. It's definitely going to be around a long time yet I'd say. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before more local lockdowns happen which is a sad thought but reality. If it happens we'll just have to deal with it the best we can. Really not ideal.

@AlviesMam my baby changes quite a bit the otters but it's mainly when I sit down at night once my DS is in bed and then when I go to bed or first thing.

Have you spoken to the midwife about your worries? Surely there must be special circumstances?

OP posts:
Whiffle77 · 07/08/2020 08:22

I'm not sure the majority of people would follow another lockdown though, that's the problem! And our economy wouldn't survive it, they haven't got the money for any more furlough or benefits. I'm prepared for all restrictions to still be in place once baby is here though, it would be naive to think it is going anywhere.
I've had the same @AlviesMam it's so frustrating. They were so quiet yesterday but the day before they were on the go all day, to the point I thought they might burst out my stomach! Its so worrying but I know I'm still too early for a "pattern". It just ruins my day as that's then all I think about. They seem to have livened up again this morning i hope. I echo what @BecsterG says about talking to your midwife about your worries too, there must be something they can do to help/alleviate them for you

AlviesMam · 07/08/2020 08:32

I'm hoping I can speak with my consultant and hospital counsellor to make sure I'm not on my own from the start because I am dreading the flashbacks. And it doesn't help I'm due around the same time I gave birth last year 😢 I have really bad health anxiety too so couldn't get through any of it without him, which I know is probably the same for all of you too! I'll speak to my consultant on Monday about it as I'm not sure on my hospital policy's either. I rang yesterday and still no partners allowed at the scan so don't think much has updated, it's actually so frustrating now that hospital rules haven't changed but the outside world is just carrying on as normal. There's more risk going out to the shops and pubs the way things are going now.

I don't think they will be another lock down i just think local lock downs will continue to happen as they have been now. I know supermarkets have triple their stock in the warehouse ready for Xmas just incase but I doubt we would go into full lock down. But people are not being as cautious anymore which is worrying. I thought it would maybe have eased off more by November and things would have changed but at this rate I'm going to be totally wrong.

Haven't such a shit day today woke up on the wrong side of the bed Envy

peonyrose87 · 07/08/2020 11:09

Morning ladies, I've been off Mumsnet for weeks as the pregnancy anxiety was getting me and I found it easier to detach from everything! I think I was about 8 weeks when I last posted on this thread. I had a scan around then and everything was ok, and I had another scan at 10+5 yesterday and baby has a strong heartbeat and was wiggling away! I found out about my MMC at a scan at 11 weeks so I'm pretty relieved for now but obviously will feel better after my 12 week scan. How is everyone doing?

FireflyGirl · 07/08/2020 11:17

We're still being very cautious, and planning for lockdown to still be in place. I have started replenishing our pasta/loo roll stockpile in anticipation.

If you look at the numbers, deaths are holding steady but the number of new infections is going up, and France and Spain are seeing similar increases.

I'm grumpy too, @AlviesMam. Struggled to get to sleep last night, then DS woke up at 4.30 having wet the bed and after sorting him I couldn't get back to sleep. Plus it is too hot already! DS keeps talking at me and I just want to be left alone!

BecsterG · 07/08/2020 13:24

@FireflyGirl I feel you on this. If my DS wakes up any tome after 4:30 for whatever reason I really struggle to get back to sleep. I'm like that pregnant or not pregnant but obviously harder when pregnant.

@peonyrose87 hats great news about your two scans. When's your dating scan booked for?

OP posts:
peonyrose87 · 07/08/2020 13:55

@BecsterG the 19th so not long to wait!!

SunnySideUp2020 · 07/08/2020 16:48

Covid isn't going anywhere.
People saying it's ending are just delusional 🙄
If anything it will get worse couple with flu in winter...

@MilsCookie how did the cakes turn out? 🧁🧁

@AlviesMam sorry to hear you're having such a stressful time with movements...
And hopefully your consultation will be able to help making a plan to make sure you aren't alone 🤞

SunnySideUp2020 · 07/08/2020 16:52

i got super anxious today about the pregnancy
That something is wrong etc...
My mum could get me an appointment for a scan but i refused to go because i know that it will be too early to see anything conclusive and i will be left with even more anxiety.
So went to have bloods again instead...
I am being ridiculous with irrational fears but it's the only way to calm my nerves at this point because here they don't sell the pregnancy tests with weeks 🙄
So can't even see the 3+

TerribleImagination · 07/08/2020 17:43

@SunnySideUp2020 It’s the worst feeling like that, poor you lovey! I had terrible anxiety in early pregnancy too, I used to take myself off somewhere quiet and do some mindfulness / pregnancy anxiety meditation, which did help calm me down a bit - so could be worth a try?

SunnySideUp2020 · 07/08/2020 17:51

@TerribleImagination ahh that's actually a good idea. I will definitely do that tomorrow regardless of the results.
I got caught up in all the big news and travelling and planning the future and all the anxiety that comes with it, that i completely forgot about doing some mindfulness exercises! Thank you for reminding me 😇

AlviesMam · 07/08/2020 18:32

Well the days nearly over and I'm glad.
Had a breakdown this morning and cried (hormonal and heat related) then I cried because the carpet I liked (which luckily we haven't ordered yet) for all upstairs I don't think I like anymore then got a headache from hell.
I have not enjoyed today's heat and sun I am counting down the days until autumn for some cold crisp days (my fav) I only like the heat on holiday with a bikini on and a pina colada in my hand, English summer is too much especially when preggers!!! Don't know how anyone else feels today?

I've felt baby move a lot today. Because I'm still not in a pattern if I didn't feel her a lot this evening/tonight would you ring in or not? Sometimes she's strong on a night other nights I just get the odd flutter/light tap.

@peonyrose87 great scan picture glad you've came back to us with an update hope your feeling a little more settled. Each week that passes by makes you that little bit better.

@SunnySideUp2020 I know the feeling, it's awful when you have this sudden moment of shit I don't feel positive anymore, that's a completely natural feeling and I was exactly the same. Don't go relying on any weeks indicator, they aren't accurate and create more anxiety, my friend only ever got to 1-2 weeks and had a successful pregnancy I got to 3+ and misscarried at 8 weeks... so I'm glad you can't get hold of them it will mess with you! Just relax and trust this is it and it's meant to be, I have a meditation app I use when I feel myself going down the negative road and it does help! Wait until 7-8 weeks when you will able to see a heartbeat and we will all be here getting you through each week Smile

Hope everyone is well. I've just had a shower and I'm laid in the nude with my fan blasting Grin (hoping my in-laws don't walk in on me hahaha) x

FireflyGirl · 07/08/2020 18:47

It's the hardest time, @SunnySideUp2020. Not least because the doctors/midwives don't really want to know at that stage.

One day at a time Flowers

Speaking of seasonal flu, you can book vaccine appointments with Boots now, starting from 17th September.

I've booked, because my GP won't start doing them until later in the year, by which time I may have had baby and won't be classed as vulnerable, so won't be on the priority list. I have no idea if the flu vaccine would protect baby as well but it can't hurt! It's free for pregnant women, or £13.99.

I don't usually bother, as I have only had flu once in my life (over 20 years ago when I was a teenager), and have pretty good immunity normally (DH had swine flu twice, which I didn't catch) but I am not taking any risks this year!

FireflyGirl · 07/08/2020 18:59

@AlviesMam naked with a fan sounds idyllic. I am so hot and tired, I didn't even feel like eating my tea so had half a pack of chocolate fingers instead and am now eyeing up the other half...

If she's been active all day, it's likely she will be quieter tonight, but if you're worried about movement, definitely call the midwife and let them make the decision whether they need to see you!

We actually have an air con unit. I was Hmm when DH bought it, but I am so glad of it tonight!! We've had it running in DS's bedroom, as it's south facing and gets the sun all day so is always the warmest room in the house in the summer, but we've taken it out now to put him to bed, so it's all mine Grin

Baby had a quiet day yesterday, but I was very active. Much more lazy today hiding inside from the heat, and she has been wriggling away. Think she's turned again, thankfully, as the bump is back on one side and the 'heavy' feeling low in my pelvis has gone.

AlviesMam · 07/08/2020 19:05

@FireflyGirl

That's strange because when I have an active day she goes quiet but when I have a chilled day she goes wild?!
It was the same for me yesterday.
I have heard that baby's are soothed by us walking and keeping busy?!

Soooo jealous you're have an air con unit. I bought a new fan today haha!

Whiffle77 · 07/08/2020 20:02

Sorry you have had a rubbish day @AlviesMam but it is nearly over! And tomorrow will be a new one. I'm also super sweaty and bothered today. I'm usually pretty good with heat but i can't sit out in it at the minute. I think tomorrow is meant to be a bit cooler but still very hot! We have a fan in our bedroom which helps a lot, very jealous of the air con though!
I think when we are active we notice them less, plus the movement lulls them to sleep. Ive had more movement than yesterday but far less than wednesday so im not sure what to think. Def call in if you are worried though.
First trimester drags @SunnySideUp2020 it is very rubbish. All you can do is keep ticking each day off, thats what I did. Echo what has been said about yoga and mindfulness - I wouldve gone mad without meditation! But equally let yourself feel anxious too as its completely normal and it will pass. I don't think any of us will feel anxiety free until they are here, and even then there will be a whole rake of new anxieties!

BS9790 · 07/08/2020 20:12

@AlviesMam, I thought I was getting into a bit of a pattern with movement too, but I don't think I am after all. He's stopped being active in a morning, but has been quite wiggly during day, evening and night all week. Except today... Today he's not playing ball 🙄 I'm going to try lay down with some music soon, he usually wiggles about then x

We're currently away on a mini break and its HOT 😂 why I thought going further south was a good idea during a heatwave I do not know!! I actually asked my hubby if we could go home a day early as I'm dreading trying to sleep here tonight 😬

MilsCookie · 08/08/2020 07:53

Hey ladies - wow lots happened yesterday! I'm back home for a few days and we had a mini gender reveal with the cupcakes last night! My partner and I are trying to have 'less time on our phones' so I'll reply properly later! The cupcakes went down a storm and they were all excited about us having two girls! 💗💗 🥰

TerribleImagination · 08/08/2020 14:12

They look ace @MilsCookie! How was your trip back home?

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/08/2020 08:49

They look good!! @MilsCookie

Thanks ladies for understanding, it really helps to read that i am not alone and to know tht it will eventually pass. It's just the sudden almost panic attacks i get just thinking it might go wrong. I do try to think positive most of the time though, and obviously feeling grateful i am pregnant.

That being said morning (really all day and night) sickness has hit hard the past two days.
I am constantly feeling nauseous even when i sleep 😫
Not actually being sick but burping a lot to help it 😅
Never had it before so getting used to it...

My bloods came at 19154 so very good progression. And still high for the dates but not insanely high to be concerned. I know it also varies a lot. It reassured mE massively. 💫
Actually starting to get a little excited 😇
Cannot wait for the scan on 21st.

And officially 6 weeks today from LMP 🥳
