Hello!

Completely new here. At the moment looks like i'm only just going to be in this group but i'm 7+2 and vague due date is 30th Jan. This will be my first and i'm terrified! Hope you're all doing well x

nmw93 · 16/06/2020 14:49

@maybug2020 Hey lovey,
I suffer with anxiety and have taken Sertraline for about 5 years. I find I have good and bad days throughout the pregnancy. Some days are so bad I can't face getting up and I'm terrified about everything, other days I'm elated and super excited. It just comes and goes in waves x

Bubbabee · 16/06/2020 14:57

@blueskiesandapples
Aww congratulations 💗 hope your feeling ok x

Sunshinedahlia · 16/06/2020 15:03

Congratulations on the great scans ladies!

MayBug2020 · 16/06/2020 15:21

@nmw93 hey! Sorry to hear that. I am on Citalopram and have been one and off but this time it’s been about a year and half. Midwife has said it’s fine to take but when I got my repeat the doc said maybe try and come off if I can and now I am worrying I shouldn’t be taking it while pregnant but I was told previously they now say for you to stay on to avoid any panic attacks and remain calm. The medication is working so I don’t want to upset things.

lilypad88 · 16/06/2020 15:33

@Lollipop93 @Pol96 @MayBug2020 yea it's really hard... help to hear I'm not alone going through the same weird state of mind. Lockdown is defo not helping...

@MayBug2020 I don't take any medication but have suffered from anxiety for a long time, I've always tried to avoid medication, been in cognitive therapy that helped me quite well, otherwise, doing meditation and breathing exercises had helped a lot too. Sorry to hear you're going through this, anxiety is a pain in the ass....

@Carabu1 I know how you feel... I'm starting next month and trying to figure out how/when to tell them.... Af if we needed that extra stress 😒

lilypad88 · 16/06/2020 15:34

@nmw93 more scan pics! Love it! 😍👏🏻

nmw93 · 16/06/2020 15:42

@MayBug2020 I feel you there girl! Mixed signals from all sides! I was told that Sertraline is a "relatively" safe medication during pregnancy and that it would be better to remain on the medication to avoid upsetting what is already a huge turn around in hormones.

I'm no doctor but as lots of sources say, it's really about you and your body and how you feel. If you have been on medication for a long time, it is less severe (in my mind) than suddenly starting something new.

I personally know that I would rather ensure I am okay mentally so that I can best cope with the fluctuating emotions throughout my pregnancy. Also, my midwife has referred me to the perinatal mental health team who, as she said, will just be on hand to offer any further support if I feel I need it.

All ladies - Do not be ashamed about how you feel (pregnant or not). Our emotions are all valid and no matter how severe some situations may feel, there are always people here to help and plenty of us to listen if needed. You are not alone.

blueskiesandapples · 16/06/2020 16:11

@nmw93 i'm also on Sertraline for anxiety and i've been all over the place since i found out. Mostly just numb like it isn't real, with moments of blind panic. Midwife reassured me that Sertraline was considered an ok one, and we would talk about it in detail in my booking appointment next week.

It's so reassuring to hear that others are experiencing the same things, especially as i'm so early and not ready to tell anyone else yet (apart from my husband of course!).

nmw93 · 16/06/2020 16:25

@blueskiesandapples Hey lovely, I'm sorry you've been feeling so hectic emotionally. If it makes you feel reassured, when I was about 7 weeks I was a mess. For about a week I felt really depressed, felt like I was making a mistake and that I wouldn't cope. I even considered a termination thinking that I wouldn't be a fit Mum. What I can tell you is how I feel now is a complete 180 to that. I do have days where I feel anxious and scared but people are lying if they say they don't feel like that in pregnancy anyway. It's a huge change to your life and you are more than entitled to feel scared, nervous, anxious, sad, tearful... all of those things and more. Your body is making another life and that takes a toll on your emotions and your body, remind yourself daily that you are a strong woman, that your feelings are valid and that you CAN do this, now matter how shit you might feel sometimes. You're not alone, we are all here for support.

MayBug2020 · 16/06/2020 16:37

@lilypad88 glad you are managing without medication and feeling well :)

@nmw93 I agree. I have researched and mine is considered safe and I feel the same as you I want to ensure I can manage the changes in hormones but will also check again at my next midwife appt.

@blueskiesandapples you are not alone and I don’t think having a history with anxiety has any impact on how we feel now. Everyone is feeling like we are - our bodies are going through a lot.

Love this forum and being able to chat with you all x

IshaPoet · 16/06/2020 16:59

Hi beautiful ladies,

Loving all the scan pics congrats mama's

Having a bit of a blah day don't know if I've pulled a muscle but I've been cramping for abit so I'm just trying my best to keep as calm as possible. Haven't been to the toilet yet though lol holding it in due to pure fear.

I wanted to ask are our booking apps over the phone or at the hospital the mw and letter wasn't exactly clear and I don't want to miss it 🙁

StephS1984 · 16/06/2020 19:18

@IshaPoet , different areas are doing it differently, for me booking appointment was over WhatsApp, but for others it could be at the midwifes hub or hospital. Have you got a contact number for your midwife to check?

BabyDust13 · 16/06/2020 19:38

@IshaPoet mine is on Thursday it's a telephone appointment but I think it depends on the hospital. I got the usual letter and then a text that said your appointment will now be a telephone appointment

Hopefulmummie · 16/06/2020 19:39

Hi everyone I hope you all are good. I haven't been on this much.

I finally got home this afternoon. Although my blood tests today showed that pregnancy levels have went up again :(
They were going to give me another dos of the methotrexate injection today but decided to leave it and I have to go to early pregnancy on Thursday to have bloods again and check for levels. They are going to scan me too to check ectopic hasn't got any bigger.
I'm so relieved to be home but just wish this was over me and now I don't know if I will need another injection

Pol96 · 16/06/2020 20:09

@Ishapoet I had mine on Monday and was a telephone appointment.

@Hopefulmummie I'm so sorry you're still going through it all. Glad you're at home now and can try to relax with home comforts around you now x

Bubbabee · 16/06/2020 20:15

@Hopefulmummie hope your ok x

Lollipop93 · 16/06/2020 21:23

@Hopefulmummie I hope you are ok. I’m so sorry what you are going through. You are so strong. Hopefully it will all be over soon. Xx

StephS1984 · 16/06/2020 21:52

@Hopefulmummie, that is good news you have come home. I am sorry to hear that it is still ongoing for you. Thinking of you xx

MeganC104 · 16/06/2020 22:04

Hello ladies, I vanished from here after my first message in the Bus 2 thread. In week 7 I started bleeding and was sent to EPU for tests.

I'm now 9+3 and things are looking good fingers crossed. My nausea isn't too bad but comes on suddenly. My 12 week scan is in just over 2 weeks and I'm scared and excited. The thing I'm most worried about though is that my husband is not able to come with me. This is our first baby and even if it was bad news I really feel I need him there and that he should be there.

IshaPoet · 16/06/2020 23:05

I've had no letter about it 🙁

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. I've just been napping for most of the evening been feeling a lot of pressure and cramping so hopefully a couple of tea couple of hobnobs and I'll be ok.
Nearly all my symptoms have disappeared haven't been feeling nauseous or sickly

Bubbabee · 17/06/2020 01:03

Nausea is full swing tonight 🤢

Mumof4andahalf · 17/06/2020 07:42

@IshaPoet mine was over the phone then I went to ADAU for bloods (planned home birth) as I'm not under gp midwife, booking took 30 mins x

IshaPoet · 17/06/2020 08:53

@Mumof4andahalf just called the Antenatal Clinic and the mw said she'll call me back today to do my booking in over the phone. She didn't seem impressed by the fact that I hadn't gotten any app or letter. Result 👏🏽👏🏽

@MeganC104 I think they'll allow you to take one person with you my sis-in-law is coming with me bcos I need hubby to watch the twins for me. I want to have a home birth so hopefully they won't be any issues but if there is I'll going to go for birthing centre.

MeganC104 · 17/06/2020 08:57

@IshaPoet I'm in the UK and my hospital isn't allowing anyone with you because of Covid
