Hello everyone! I'm new to Mumsnet and new to pregnancy all together! I'm 10 weeks today and wow it's been a struggle for me. My first child so no idea what to expect (I'm 31). As none of my family have had children, I haven't really been close to anyone to experience their journey. Because of this, we told our close friends our news yesterday and what a relief as they have recently been through it, still doesn't feel real. I've spoken to the midwife a couple of times and done the checks over the phone. My scan isn't until 3rd July when I'll be 13 weeks +1. This has made me anxious as it doesn't seem real until I actually see a doctor. Really hope my husband will be allowed in...

My symptoms: Extremely tired, taking naps everyday. The thought of food makes me feel sick, sometimes actually urging when eating. Can only stomach really plain food like potato, noodles and beans. Although loving fruit. Totally gone off Tea which I used to drink constantly. Sore boobs, bloated and constipated. So all good - haha! Nice to meet all you new mums to be Grin xx

@Carabu1 sorry but the worry never goes away! I do feel like you just learn to handle it better as time goes on, and as @Wineandrun said when the baby arrives it’s on another level altogether!
@imabusybee I wouldn’t worry too much about the week difference, with DD I was always told she measured a week behind, but that’s just compared to an average curve, we all grow different size babies! 🥰

Carabu1 · 11/06/2020 22:28

@CoronaBaby and @wineandrun. Oh god, that’s not good news!! I keep setting myself little goals - currently ‘if the 12 week scan goes ok I’ll feel better’ - but then the worry creeps back in. It’s exhausting, and really getting me down. I know lockdown won’t be helping as it’s hard to keep busy, but the idea of this going or forever is unbearable...! I don’t know if I’m reacting badly or if everyone feels like this?! I haven’t told anyone yet, so can’t really ask!

BabyG123 · 11/06/2020 22:35

The psycho hormones are still here and strong. Literally everything pisses me off especially just before bed. Now I can't sleep as angry and worried about being angry and
Hurting bubs 🤪

@Carabu1 I think it’s hardest now because everything is completely out of your control. Once you know you have a viable pregnancy and things progress you start to gain some control back, and you will feel better physically which will help massively. Try and stay as healthy as you can and you will be doing your best. Once baby arrives the worry changes, I can’t describe the protective, ferocious instinct that comes over you but again, that almost gives you some power and takes some of the worry away. You can control what a baby wears, eats, who visits. Just make sure that if you do feel your anxiety is spiralling out of control you tell someone, antenatal anxiety and depression is as real as postnatal anxiety and depression and you don’t have to suffer alone. A worry shared and all that!xxx

CoronaBaby · 11/06/2020 22:42

@Carabu1 be kind to yourself, pregnancy is such a worrying time, you have no control over what your body is doing, all you can do is take care of yourself as best you can and let your body take care of the rest 💖 some worry is natural but try not to let it take over, easy to say not so easy to do. I am a highly anxious person, my husband is so laid back he’s horizontal and talking to him has helped a great deal. Can you talk to your partner? Hormones have a huge part to play in anxiety too. Try to rest as much as possible, even just lying on the sofa. As when you are well rested it can help to curb the anxiety.
@BabyG123 I had this during the week. I was so psycho, and all my anger was towards DH literally even breathing 😅

BabyG123 · 11/06/2020 22:45

@Carabu1 I panicked the whole way through DS1 pregnancy. Had 3 scans already at this
Point but this time I'm (pretending) being strong and trying not to worry. You aren't alone!

@CoronaBaby currently glaring at my husband who is asleep..... asleep after annoying me so much that I can't sleep. 🖕🏽🤣

@Wineandrun 👌🏼👌🏼 You put it so well!! Your post didn’t load before I posted but I second everything you say! And as for the protectiveness, sometimes I even shock myself. I suffered very badly from antenatal anxiety and ended up on medication, it really helped, and now so far in my second pregnancy I am much more relaxed, hopefully I won’t need medication but if I do I know all the supports are in place for me thankfully!

CoronaBaby · 11/06/2020 22:48

@BabyG123 oh my god I hear you girl!! 😂😂 And nothing worse than stewing in your temper while they snore 🙃🙃🙃🙃

McDbaby · 11/06/2020 22:53

For some reason my last message had the wrong emoji on it, it was meant to be a smiley face :-) I forgot one of my main symptoms - Full blown ACNE :-( Making me feel so self conscious.

Wheezeymcleazy · 11/06/2020 23:12

That's really interesting about sickness at night being exhaustion ! I feel absolutely drained and napping during the day as well as never having energy. I get a little burst after my nap but I'm not sleeping at night.
I'm not allowed my cetrizine so I'm sneezing constantly cos of hayfever. My sickness has mainly been at night except today where it's been most of the day. I seem to have days I don't feel the worst then I get hit with sickness and sore boobs again.

TTC24 · 11/06/2020 23:40

Had a scan today, making me 5w+4 not 6+4. Meaning I'm due 7th Feb. Back until two weeks for another scan to make sure everything is fine and progressing.

CoalCraft · 12/06/2020 09:03

Still no bleeding! This is a long stretch without losing blood for me. Hope this means the mysterious, worrying phenomenon has come to an end.

Had a funny pain yesterday evening low down on the left side of my belly. If it hadn't already been ruled out I'd have worried about ectopic. Not very severe and lasted maybe a few hours. Tbh I'm wondering whether my trousers were just too tight around my waist Confused

Has anyone else noticed getting distinctly thicker around their middle yet? My belly seems to protrude quite a bit already, though surely it's too early for a baby bump? I have a slim-medium figure, size 10.

IshaPoet · 12/06/2020 10:38

Morning ladies

So yesterday I had a slight bleed brownish pink and I went to the epu and did the whole test cervical check and I've got my scan tomorrow.

Still pregnant but my worry is the dr mentioned late implantation bcos he can't see why it started he has ruled out ectopic but now I'm worried it'll be twins again- this is exactly what happened when I was pregnant with my twin girls.

Fingers, toes & whole soul fingers crossed.

BabyG123 · 12/06/2020 10:48

@IshaPoet how old are your twin girls? Imagine that!

Skyla01 · 12/06/2020 10:51

@BabyG123 does that mean we can't eat Mr Whippy?! I've been craving one for a while but couldn't actually face going in the car to get one!

TerribleImagination · 12/06/2020 11:01

@Skyla01 You can eat Mr Whippy! The NHS website only says to avoid unpasteurised milk, so it’s totally fine. It’s all guidelines anyway. My friend who’s a midwife thinks it’s total bollocks, she ate steak and deli meats when she was pregnant and her baby is super healthy!

CoalCraft · 12/06/2020 11:16

@terribleImagination I didn't realise steak was supposed to be off?? Steak bakes are tasting so good right now...

TerribleImagination · 12/06/2020 11:21

@CoalCraft Only undercooked beef is advised against. That’s just me assuming that no one eats well done steak 🤣 When obvs some people do 🙈😂

OrangeJ · 12/06/2020 11:22

@coalcraft I think it’s just undercooked meat, so a medium/rare steak.

@terribleimagination I agree with your midwife friend and think a lot is a bit over the top.

If anyone’s interested I’ve read the first trimester chapter of the book Expecting Better and definitely recommend if you want to know more about why things “aren’t allowed”. There’s lots of studies and research in there so you can decide what’s right for you ☺️

@hopefulmummie I hope you’re doing ok. Thinking of you. Xx

MissHoney85 · 12/06/2020 11:25

9 weeks today and got my scan letter through for 7th July! 😬 Trying to be strong and resist the urge for a private scan before then. I'm a little worried that my symptoms are so mild - no nausea or particular tiredness. Slightly sore boobs, though less so than they were a couple of days ago which worries me too. My sister didn't really have nausea either though and I am very resistant to upset stomachs generally so hoping it's just genetic. Trying not to obsess too much but it's so hard! The next 3.5 weeks can't go quick enough...

TerribleImagination · 12/06/2020 11:25

@OrangeJ Yeah I agree! I’ve avoided the NHS no go’s so far, but mostly just from being super paranoid after having a MC previously, even though that had bugger all to do with what I was eating, but our brains are mad when pregnancy anxiety kicks in! I’ll probably have some steak later on this pregnancy, and I’m a medium rare person! I have a friend who didn’t eat hot dogs when she was pregnant, because she read somewhere that they weren’t ok! Madness.

Hopefulmummie · 12/06/2020 11:27

@OrangeJ thank you. Sorry if I've missed any other messages I haven't really been on my phone

They took my bloods today instead of tomorrow as I was in unbearable pain again earlier. I'm glad I'm in here as I couldn't cope with this pain at home.

CoalCraft · 12/06/2020 12:17

@TerribleImagination Oh I do love a rare steak, that's a pity. Pretty sure the meat in a pasties I like is thoroughly cooked through though so glad I can eat them guilt free Grin

Carabu1 · 12/06/2020 13:42

@Wineandrun and @CoronaBaby - thanks! I’m trying my best! Hopefully when I can talk to others about it’ll be better - atm I feel like I’m just bottling all my anxiety up inside. Husband is also quite an anxious person, I don’t really want to mention it to him and have us both stressed out!!

@CoalCraft - I also feel thicker, but at 11+1 I’m too early for a bump. Sadly I think it’s just fat - I’m very slight, and usually do heaps of exercise, but the combination of scaling that back + constant hunger means Ive def put on some belly fat. Could also be bloat maybe? Trying not to stress about it as I had been trying to gain weight to help with my fertility issues, but I still hate the feel of it.
