Hey!

I'm only 6 +3 so barely in the Jan thread (depending on which calculator I use!).

Live in Glasgow. Phoned the EPU yesterday to make my booking appt - got through to them which was a first (had a mc in Dec and couldn't for the life of me get through and never received a call back - GP then referred me, and nothing. Luckily was a straightforward mc in the end so no need for follow up, but still...).

Booking appt not til July 21st when I will be 12 weeks if pregnancy continues, and scan booked in for following week at 13 weeks. The NHS website clearly states that the booking in appt should be BEFORE 10 weeks. They were adamant that here they do the first appt between 9 and 12.5 weeks. Feels shoddy and stretched - and a long way off for anyone, but especially someone who has had 2 mc before. But maybe its also fine and the booking appt. isn't as important as the NHS site is making out?

Anyone else have their first appt. in the far off future?

@Adenike21 so according to my last period I'm 10+1 but I tracked ovulation and I have longer cycles so I know I'm about 8+4 ish. It's just a estimate until your 12 week scan so hope it's the same case as me 🤞🏼 no scan yet.

@Carab sounds just like my wonderful 1yr old sons pregnancy. It can happen!

@Mitchla I think due to the current coronavirus situation it's changed as it's not usually face to face so no bloods are taken until the 12 weeks scan anyway, no paperwork exchanged etc etc.

@Carabu1 your nearly there, not long to go at all. They say the umbilical cord takes over from week 9 onwards so symptoms will start to fade. I'm sure just like your early scan, your growing baby is doing fine. You will be one of the first to have their scan and 'graduate ' from the first trimester. Stay positive chick.

TerribleImagination · 10/06/2020 10:25

@BabyG123 I hear ya with the morning, noon and night sickness! Mine has ramped up over the last few days (I’m 9+5 so I think / hope it’s heading towards the peak!) and I actually put travel sickness bands on last night out of desperation, and because a lady on the new queer eye had them on and inspired me 😂

Anyway, they’re not miracle workers, but they have taken a little bit of the edge off! I still feel sick, but so far it’s a bit less intense. I actually managed to get a decent sleep last night with them on, only waking up to wee rather than all the bloody time feeling sick. So I’d deffo recommend to give them a try!

Hopefulmummie · 10/06/2020 10:35

So I've to stay in hospital until Sunday at least :( I really thought I was getting out today but because I'm in pain they have to keep an eye on me incase I need surgery.
They'll do my bloods tomorrow and Saturday and if the injection is working I'll be allowed home on Sunday

Made worse that you can't have any visitors.. my husband isn't even allowed in

Lollipop93 · 10/06/2020 10:36

Yeah I found the bands help a bit too.

I know nhs calculator bases due date from first day of last period but I take it that takes into consideration that ovulation normally takes place 14 days afterwards? (I Know everyone ovulates at different times but surely they can’t base it on first day of last period coz then that means everyone date is already Out by like two weeks?) Sorry I’m probably being really daft here haha!

Baba11 · 10/06/2020 10:55

@Lollipop93 I was thinking the same thing this morning regarding being 2 weeks out. It has got me baffled too

T2020 · 10/06/2020 11:16

Hi all, new here. 7 weeks today. First pregnancy and very anxious. Haven't heard anything about booking in apt yet but going to book a private scan for 2 weeks time just to make sure there is actually something there as only symptoms are sore boobs and a hungover feeling

Skyla01 · 10/06/2020 11:52

@Pol96 I can understand why the lack of symptoms is unnerving but I would honestly enjoy it. Not everyone gets symptoms, you are one of the lucky ones. I've felt awful for weeks- would do anything to feel normal again! And even though I'm ill I'm still nervous for my 12 wk scan.

At night I'm struggling to sleep too- my body is really cold kind of shivery/ flu-like but my face is really hot. I had to sleep with a cold wet cloth on my face last night! It's bonkers what my body is doing...!

MayBug2020 · 10/06/2020 12:37

Ladies I am 8 weeks today and find myself panicking over every little twinge, ache, bit of discharge (sorry tmi), if my sickness is better one day to others. I know there isnt anything I can do to ensure it’s a sticky bean as it’s nature but if anyone else going through this and questions twinges, aches, tummy soreness??

Would love to hear everyone’s experience so far xx

Lollipop93 · 10/06/2020 12:42

Hi @MayBug2020

I am 8+1 and I’m the same I’ve been getting clear gooey discharge a lot (TMI) I had a pain in my left side the other day in the bath and was like omg so yeah I am picking up on every little twinge. But having no bleeding or bad cramping or that. So we really just need to wait until our scan to know what’s happening :/ and even then we will probs continue to worry until this baby is in our arms!! Anyone else scared about telling work? I feel bad coz I only went back to work from last mat leave in September..... I feel like I’m letting them down

Baba11 · 10/06/2020 12:46

@Lollipop93 I was worried but then I thought about wat meant more to me, work or a baby. Was a no brainer... they will understand

MayBug2020 · 10/06/2020 13:46

I have just been to the toilet and noticed a bit of a pink/brown tinged discharge when I wiped....super panic now!

Lollipop93 · 10/06/2020 13:52

@baba11 thanks for understanding what I mean! I know you are totally right and I just can’t wait to get it over with haha

@maybug2020 don’t worry hun, according to midwives etc they always just ask if you’ve had heavy bleeding/bad period cramps! What you described sounds normal but keep an eye xxx

MoltenLasagne · 10/06/2020 13:52

Hey all, I'm also 8 weeks and paranoid! Had some spotting and very mild cramps yesterday in line with when my period would be but nothing heavy. My booking appt was yesterday and the midwife said it was nothing to worry about but I'm still a bit Confused

I've got a private scan booked on Saturday when I'll nearly 9 weeks so really hoping things look alright then.

Baba11 · 10/06/2020 14:27

@MayBug2020 try and test and just keep an eye on it. It can be normal to bleed during pregnancy. When it gets heavy and get cramps then it is something to worry about. Try and stay positive chick

MayBug2020 · 10/06/2020 14:32

@Lollipop93 @Baba11 thank you I am trying to stay positive and not over think it and just monitor it. So hard to know what is normal in first pregnancy xx

MayBug2020 · 10/06/2020 14:35

@MoltenLasagne hi and congratulations!! I am 8 weeks today and have noticed some brownish/pinkish discharge when I wipe and now I can’t stop thinking about it.
Because I came off the pill I am not sure when my period would be due but hoping it’s all ok. It’s reassuring your midwife said it’s normal. We just need to rest and try to relax x

Grumpy19 · 10/06/2020 14:44

@Hopefulmummie sorry you are still in pain. It's rubbish not being allowed visitors. My dad was in hospital most of last week and it was so worrying not being able to visit.
@Lollipop93 I might try a band for the sickness.

I have my booking appointment tomorrow and need to wear a mask so I guess I'll have the sewing machine out tonight!

Lollipop93 · 10/06/2020 14:55

@Hopefulmummie sorry I just noticed you put a message on sorry i missed it. You are in the best place they can keep u topped up on pain relief, so annoying they won’t allow visitors :( I’m thinking about you ♥️ Have you got books/Netflix and stuff to keep u busy?

BabyG123 · 10/06/2020 15:19

@Hopefulmummie I hope you have enough stuff with you to entertain you. Rest up, after all that's probably why they are making you stay too!

CoalCraft · 10/06/2020 15:24

@MayBug2020 I have had similar symptoms for about five weeks now, with bleeding that is usually light but sometimes heavy enough to stain a pad. I've had two scans, one at seven weeks and one at ten weeks by last period, both times baby completely fine. Bleeding remains unexplained but doc said it does just happen in some pregnancies and the babies are still healthy and well.

I had also recently come off pill (combined) before conceiving and I had spotting while on that too. I think I am just a bit leaky Confused I suspect it might be cervical entropion in my case but that's not diagnosed.

At both scans baby measured a week behind where expected from last period, but as my cycle didn't have time to get regular after pill I figure I probably just ovulated late. That's why even though I'm technically 10+4 from last period I think I'm really 9+4

Anyway, basically just saying try not to panic as it can all be fine, but keep an eye and if it gets heavy or you have pain, ring GP.

Bubbabee · 10/06/2020 15:33

@Hopefulmummie hope your ok.. 😘

Today I've dragged myself out for a good long walk and I'm managing more food, little and often. Still not sleeping on a night and it's starting to catch up with me. How's everyone feeling today?

Baba11 · 10/06/2020 15:41

@Bubbabee I wish I could say the same. Feel exhausted and am forcing myself to eat. I seem to get worse in the evening when all I want is my bed but even sleeping is a hard work. I wish this feeling goes away soon

9+3

Bubbabee · 10/06/2020 16:03

@Baba11 yeah sleep on a night is a no go for me. I am up rocking stood in my bedroom for several hours due to restless legs and then when I finally nod off I'm awake constantly. My afternoon nap is the most solid sleep I get, so glad my 10year old understands and doesn't think I'm just lazy haha. I was the same with food last week I found ice lollies really settled my stomach. Maybe worth a try.
I struggle with my evening meal as it's too much but I eat what I can. Hope you feel better soon 😘
