Is anyone still suffering badly from headaches? Angry

RunnerGirl123 · 31/05/2020 10:50

Ladies, those of you who were on progesterone, have you all weaned off now? I was on 3 200mg pessaries a day, been taking 2 since Wednesday and thinking to go down to 1 today to end on Weds next week (which is when my consultant appointment is)... I'll be 14 weeks next Friday - what do you think??

RunnerGirl123 · 31/05/2020 10:51

@peachypetite I do, usually first thing when I wake up and occasionally in the afternoon but they tend to disappear after some water / food so haven't been too bad.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 31/05/2020 11:12

Morning All, I hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunny weather ☺️ So nice to see some more great scan pics!

@RunnerGirl123 I had a bit of a dilemma with the progesterone .. I was taking 2 x 200mg. Originally my consultant told me to stop at 12 weeks but I got nervous about stopping cold turkey. I booked another appointment with him to discuss it (he’s private) and when I told him I was nervous he just prescribed me another 2 months!!
I didn’t want to take it for any longer than I needed and really just wanted some advice about how to stop so I felt a bit stuck. Everything I’ve read (and other people I know) stopped at around 12 weeks with no problems. I was 15 weeks last week so I’ve gone down to one a day and will probably wean off over the course of a month.
Your plan sounds fine to me - we’re you advised to stop at 12 weeks too? X

RunnerGirl123 · 31/05/2020 11:17

@Teaandbiscuits123 yes, well I think I was told to stop taking at 12 weeks /dating scan. My gynae consultant the fertility clinic suggested it back in October if I fell pregnant naturally and then the clinic was closed when I got my BFP so my gp prescribed it for me. I asked the midwife so she booked me in with a consultant (but antenatal didn't get the referral hence the delay after my scan) and then when I tried asking my clinic when they reopened they just said the notes say to stop taking at the dating scan, but wouldn't let me sneak to my gynae consultant. I'm a little worried about coming off but feel I also need to get it over and done with!

Pinktruffle · 31/05/2020 11:26

I was on it @RunnerGirl123. My clinic wanted me to stop at 8 weeks but I insisted thatI wanted to carry on the 12 weeks so they prescribed me more. I carried on with two a day until I got down to my last 5 and then went one a day and then stopped so I've been off them for over 2 weeks now and everything is fine - no spotting, no issues. Had my 12 week scan (which was 13+1) since then and baby was fine so that was reassuring.

My original fertility nurse told me that my ovaries were back to their normal size (after IVF) and were producing their own Progesterone so I didn't need it beyond 8 weeks, and by 12 weeks the placenta takes over all hormone production for baby so I'm not sure there is much point in taking it beyond 12 weeks if that is any reassurance?

Pinktruffle · 31/05/2020 11:27

And thank you for the offer of speaking your consultant regarding the Infolic @RunnerGirl123, please let me know what he/she says.

RunnerGirl123 · 31/05/2020 11:35

@Pinktruffle thank you. Okay I'll definitely just do 1 today then, aiming to end Tuesday/Wednesday!

No worries re Inofolic 😊. I think they'll be the best person to ask, as my gp has never heard of it and I'm not sure if the midwife has either.

Bobbieblu · 31/05/2020 11:46

I was also on progesterone support, stopped Injections at 11.5 weeks and the cyclogest at 13 weeks and all seems fine so far. I think they say until 12 weeks to be safe and then any longer after that is purely for peace of mind.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 31/05/2020 11:53

Thanks all - it is really reassuring to hear that everyone has had similar guidance and that stopping has been straightforward xx

ChampooPapi · 31/05/2020 12:55

@Dee96 of say that's a boy you've got from the scan photo but more from a 'skull theory perspective' and I have been wrong before (with all three of my friends pregnancies!) 🧐👣

@peachypetite hell to the yes on the headaches. Had a good 5 days without one though today I'm suffering again, but my partner is repainting the living room so that obviously not helping!

peachypetite · 31/05/2020 12:58

Ugh they are awful. Usually they are an evening thing but I had one this morning and have had to go back to bed for a couple of hours to sleep more. Sleep is the only remedy. I’m not wanting to take loads of paracetamol, night look into cool strips and 4head.

ChampooPapi · 31/05/2020 13:00

@peachypetite I use these bags filled with jell that you put in the fridge. They are for post laser treatment to cool the face but I've been wearing them practically as a hat for the last few months

They really help as they are quite big, sure Amazon will have them. They are useful for lots of things to be honest

Had a cracking headache most of yesterday afternoon and evening. Spent about 3 hours napping as I just couldn't work out what else to do. I don't think the heat has helped even though I've been drinking lots of water and staying in the shade.

Dee96 · 31/05/2020 13:06

I did think that! Either that or the little one has a big head (takes after the dad already) Grin but were both really hoping on a girl ... obviously health is the more important thing. My sister also says he intuition is giving her a strong feeling it's a boy and so did I until a couple of weeks ago and now I dont know

peachypetite · 31/05/2020 13:10

Thanks for the recommendation. Yep I’m staying inside today because not sure if the heat is making it worse but don’t want to risk it.

What's people's thoughts on using a hot tub? Is temperature the only issue because I can turn ours down, would be lovely to sit in there of an evening. I can't see how it would be any different to having a bath.

RestorationInsanity · 31/05/2020 15:08

I think heat is the main issue, and possibly infection risk if it is a public one as lots of people/you wouldn't know how clean it is, but obviously neither of those is a problem if it's your own!

This is what the NHS has to say so sound like it's up to you if you want to if you can control the temp, and make sure you put have plenty to drink if it is warmer than normal.
