I've got a huge bump that makes me look 6 months gone. I am just over 14 weeks. I was fat before, so I guess that helps but even I am surprised with how 'bump' like it is already. It is my 2nd though and I've read you show sooner.

Had my bloods done last week and midwife said to chase her today if no answer so off to do that now. Scan was low risk so would like this to be as well so I can feel less anxious!

@Fouryearslater you've definitely had it worse than me, you've been hospitalised right? My O has run out today so trying to get DH to go to pharmacy asap!

MrsR87 · 29/05/2020 13:10

@MillieFTM
I have had no written correspondence to do with low PAPP-A. It wasn’t in my screening letter and I can’t even see reference to it in my handwritten antenatal book. I was just told that it is low when I went for my 16 week appointment yesterday. I don’t even know how low it is!

I’ll try to find out more when I go for then 20 week scan!

mOmShanti · 29/05/2020 13:20

Hi all 👋🏽 Any one else been told that their blood type is O Negative? I’ve been told that I’ll have to have an anti D immunoglobulin injection to prevent Rhesus Disease. Anyone else in the same boat?

Pumpkin108 · 29/05/2020 14:14

@mOmShanti yes I’m O negative too. They’re meant to be doing a blood test at my 20 week scan to d enter mine the baby’s blood group as you only need injections if the baby is positive... not sure if all hospitals do this

Pumpkin108 · 29/05/2020 14:16

Just wanted to ask if anyone hasn’t gained any weight yet? I’m 16 weeks today and weigh around 3kg less than when I got pregnant probably due to more walking in lockdown and healthier eating. Should I be concerned ? Starting to worry how can there be a baby in there...

mOmShanti · 29/05/2020 14:26

@Pumpkin108 I had my blood test yesterday, it’s amazing that they can get the baby’s dna this way! Amazing! They say it takes 3/4 weeks for results. Fingers crossed we match the babies! X

seventhrow · 29/05/2020 14:27

@mOmShanti and @Pumpkin108 damn that's a nuisance about the extra jab! O neg is such a cool blood group though - I think you sometimes get to jump the queue when donating blood because it's so in demand! My mum is O neg and she donated loads of blood but sadly had to have a transfusion 3 years ago and now they won't let her. Do you know what your baby's father is? You can narrow it down to what the baby has if you do.

I'm B+, my midwife said it was an awesome blood group because I get to say "Be Positive!!!" (she said this in an American accent... ha)

seventhrow · 29/05/2020 14:31

@Pumpkin108 last week I was fretting because I'd only put on 2lbs and that could well have been due to lack of exercise over lockdown and nausea periods. But it's gone up to 4.5lbs now. There was a conversation about weight and no one having put much on in Thread 6 pages 35-37 - some of the comments there from other people I found really helpful. I spoke to the midwife about it on Tues (16week appt) and she said not to worry. All the stuff online is about managing weight gain (ie. not putting on too much) which can be falsely alarming for those of us who aren't really ballooning. Midwife said it's really normal not to have put on much at this point.

FudgeFlies · 29/05/2020 15:52

@MrsR87 I feel a bit more relived now, thanks! x

Hancock2020 · 29/05/2020 16:17

Pregnant women shouldn't be made to queue outside in this heat! It's just cruel!

MrsR87 · 29/05/2020 16:30

@Hancock2020

Agree! I’ve just got back from Sainsbury’s and am
currently sat on the sofa, mustering the energy to pack in away. OH would usually do it but he’s on a work call!

Hancock2020 · 29/05/2020 16:33

I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and didn't even bother just turned around, I'll try again in a bit or I'll go first thing in the morning

The other day I queued for an hour in this heat to get into the bank to be told they cant help me!

Fouryearslater · 29/05/2020 17:01

@FilthyforFirth I hope he managed to get some. I have about 7 spare left. I nearly relented today and took one but had a snooze instead. My hammock was a good purchase but I’ve no idea how I’ll get out in a couple of months 😂

I’ve not had any blood or screening results back after a week. I’m assuming that means nothing untoward. Not that the screening results would change anything, but good to be prepared.

mOmShanti · 29/05/2020 17:36

@seventhrow At least I can say I have a cool blood type 😊 Unfortunately I have growth hormone deficiency and am considered too short/low weight to give blood, but maybe I’ll be a good bit heavier after the baby and be able to share my cool O Negative 😊 My DH doesn’t know his blood type so we can’t work it out- I didn’t know you could work it out like that. At least I’ll be able to tell baby we tested their DNA before they were born, which sounds incredibly sci-fi 🤣

FlashesOfRage · 29/05/2020 21:02

17+4 today 👍

So far I’ve had a midwife phone me for my booking at 11+2. In person scan and all the bloods at 12wks. Consultant phonecall at 14+2 (FTM, twins, other medical conditions). Midwife check in phonecall at 16+1.

My next appointment is my 20wk scan and after that because it’s twins I’ll be scanned every 4 weeks. No idea when my next midwife appointment is if it’s separate to a scan.

When the midwife called me at 16wks she said I should book the whooping cough vaccine with my GP around the 25wk mark.

FlashesOfRage · 29/05/2020 21:15

Also I just wanted to post a different perspective about body changes. This isn’t a judgement and everyone has a right to feel how they feel 💐

Since I was 15 I believed I would need IVF to have any chance at all. Quite honestly while finally getting investigated during the last 18 months I came to completely believe I would never be pregnant and I would never be a mother.

My relationship with my body became fraught with feelings of brokenness. That something was inherently wrong with, my genes or something internal had betrayed me.

My pregnant body is healing me.
Seeing my body magically do what it was made to do and grow and change shape is awesome to me. I look in the mirror at my belly 20 times per day, my body is doing this incredible thing all by itself! Wow!! I just have to admire it.

I have never felt so confident or accepting of my body in my entire life. I’ve put on 5kg and my BMI was 29.7 just before pregnancy 😵

I hope that if you are struggling then time helps you to feel more comfortable as your baby becomes more real to you xxx

AnxiousLady1 · 29/05/2020 21:54

@FlashesOfRage That's a lovely way of looking at it. I just wanted to add that I'm another one who had so much doubt about my own body since my teens, and always said to friends since then that I could never see myself being able to get pregnant. So like you, I am also fascinated by what my body is doing and cannot walk past a reflective surface without looking at it! 😂 I am still riddled with doubt about whether my body is really up to the task, but I guess it's proving me wrong every day so far so I need to trust in it.

mOmShanti · 29/05/2020 22:05

@FlashesOfRage thank you for your post- it spoke to me. I love that you’ve never felt so confident or accepting of yourself- self acceptance is a huge deal in this world xxx

MoreGinPlease2020 · 29/05/2020 22:46

Thank you @FlashesOfRage and others who commented. It's nice getting different opinions and views on our bodies and what's happening to them.

LozEliza · 30/05/2020 05:23

@Pumpkin108 I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I haven't gained any yet either just lost. Starting to get my appetite back though but find I just can't eat big portions anymore.

Tonicandgin · 30/05/2020 09:09

I completely identify with being in awe of my body. Whilst I've always had a degree of body confidence it has always been shaken in pregnancy because everyone has felt the need to comment on it.

That's what I've loved about lockdown pregnancy, I've been able to be proud of my growing bump.

But oh the birth, each time I've been in utter awe of how my body has grown this little person, and kept it alive with a placenta - plus birthed it. And then fed it.

This is why women's bodies are utterly incredible! I don't understand why they're criticised. All that 'get your body back' nonsense.

HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT MY BODY HAS JUST DONE?!

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/05/2020 10:38

@mOmShanti I’m A-, I had a blood test this week to test for baby’s blood type, only need Anti-D if they’re a + type. Hopefully they’ll be negative like me! We don’t know what DH is either.

60sPony · 30/05/2020 11:07

@mOmShanti I’m AB- and know my husband is A- and yet during my first pregnancy and this one I will have to have the anti D injection (midwife says they can’t guarantee mums are telling the truth about who dad is!).
I didn’t know some trusts could test the babies blood... and even if it’s ends up you having to have the injection it isn’t any more scary or painful than a regular flu type jab

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/05/2020 11:34

@seventhrow I’ve put on about 4lbs, which I think is great, I was slightly overweight by about a stone before I was pregnant so didn’t want to put on loads. I’m hoping to keep weight gain at no more than 2 stone if I can, the more you weigh (BMI wise) to start with the less you want to put on. So it’s all relative. But some women carry more fluids than others, bigger and smaller babies and placentas, so it’s not necessarily fat. I’m thinking mainly for my health - during pregnancy and after - rather than my appearance

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/05/2020 11:37

Sorry @Pumpkin108 should have tagged you in the above too. If you’ve been being healthy it’s fine to have lost a bit. I’m sure my little gain is more down to less movement (my usual 8000 steps from just commuting and day to day life is out as I’m at home) and more carbs, rather than actual baby!

Heard the heartbeat this week during early 16 week appointment (was there for something else and they said let’s do it now) so I’m reassured there’s still a baby growing in there.
