@DPSawMyUsername could it be for your whooping cough vaccine?

DPSawMyUsername · 28/05/2020 09:00

@Pink15 It's over the phone. Oh and 20 week is already booked too, unless that's when they're deciding to jab me too lol

LozEliza · 28/05/2020 09:10

So hayfever can officially do one. I'm not even convinced if I was allowed tablets they'd make much of a difference. Kind of wish I was back at work now because I work in the city and my hayfever is much less there. Whereas at home I'm sat with a lot of fields, green spaces, gardens etc around.

My boobs are hurting loads more in the second trimester! I'm rolling over at night and thinking ouchhhh! Nice to have a reassuring symptom though.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

FilthyforFirth · 28/05/2020 09:33

Glad you've managed go wean off the ondandsetron @Fouryearslater. No chance here, still on 3 a day and still feeling so nauseous all the time. Being sick probably every other day at the moment.

I read that extra discharge is a symptom of the 2nd trimester and perfectly normal.

OurLittlePumpkin · 28/05/2020 10:51

Does anyone know if at 16 weeks we should be receiving the Whooping cough vaccine? I read it in a pregnancy book last night that we should be offered it around 16 weeks. I had my 16 week phone call yesterday morning and midwife didn't mention it at all. Any thoughts? Xx

SqidgeBum · 28/05/2020 11:09

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday in the gp with the midwife and she didnt mention it. Actually, she said I wont see a midwife again til 28 weeks. Odd. I might ask someone about that.

2019Mama · 28/05/2020 11:10

Hi again. Fell off the last thread.

finally had my dating scan yesterday EDD 29th Nov. Hi @twinsbelly due date buddies! Although I reckon I’ll be early.

OurLittlePumpkin · 28/05/2020 11:14

@SqidgeBum same, I'll have scan at 20, phone call few days after to discuss scan with midwife, then a phone call at 25 weeks then a face to face 28. Strange it hasn't been mentioned as it is quite necessary. I've emailed my midwife team as they're not answering the phones, will share knowledge if I find out

AnxiousLady1 · 28/05/2020 11:30

My midwife advised me yesterday I get the whooping cough vaccine at 28 weeks.

MillieFTM · 28/05/2020 11:49

My midwife (on 16 week call) said that I would be given the whooping vaccine at my 20 week scan. She said I would also get a letter from my GP around this time to invite me to make appointment with them to get it if I wasn't offered it at the 20 week scan. I'm in Hampshire but might be similar elsewhere.

MillieFTM · 28/05/2020 11:50

Also not seeing my midwife until 28 week appointment. Next one at 25 weeks will also be a phone call.
Seems slightly strange not to be seeing anyone for so long! And my 16 week call yesterday was rather rushed and brief!

Addler · 28/05/2020 11:52

I didn't have my booking in appointment until the 12/5 and my midwife told me then I would get two letters out, one for my consultant appointment and one for my GTT test. I still haven't received them, or had any new upcoming appointments put on the app.

Is anyone else still waiting for letters they were told would be sent out?

Hancock2020 · 28/05/2020 11:57

@Addler I'm still waiting for my letter about 16 week appointment, which is with consultant not the midwife. I'm 14+3 🤷‍♀️

OurLittlePumpkin · 28/05/2020 12:07

@MillieFTM I had my 16 wk yesterday and it was awfully quick.. Felt so rushed didn't really talk through anything useful

seventhrow · 28/05/2020 12:19

Am really sorry to read all these messages about people not getting much midwife attention. It's crazy how much pot luck this is... I had my 16 week appt over the phone on Tuesday and she spent half an hour chatting with me to make sure I'm ok and to talk through symptoms etc. The 28 week appointment has apparently been cancelled but she's booked me in anyway for a phonecall as she things its too long to wait between June and mid August for a check up... Am really annoyed to read of other women not having such good attention.

Have booked in my Whooping Cough vax with the GP for tomorrow, nice and easy. Alternative was to get it done at the drop in centre at the hospital when I have 20 week scan but I'd rather not hang around in the hospital longer than I need to.

Am not sure whether I can feel the baby or not.. I read online that it's like popcorn popping inside your stomach. But the stomach is far above the womb?? Occasionally I feel these deep tiny twinges deep inside me, like a tiny flick against my insides, from the same sort of place I would normally get period pains. Maybe that's it?

I joined the Facebook group but everyone seems much more on it with babies there than me... I haven't even considered buying a single thing for the baby. I have ordered a book though because I thought I should probably start reading up on what to expect at some point... Oh, and I bought some new bras... I used the online M&S bra fitting and I've gone up 2 cup sizes... Crazy how normal tops now make me look like I'm flashing my boobs at everyone.

Jen1311 · 28/05/2020 12:21

I had my 16 week appointment last week when I was 14+6, I had a very slight dark brown bleed so called the midwife who assured me it was fine and then while I was on the phone kind of did the 16 week call at the same time. Feels strange that I won’t see anyone now until my 20 weeks scan, seems like such a long time so I’m worrying about little things. The midwife asked if I was feeling movements yet, which I kind of was but then over-thought and worried I should be feeling more (this is my 3rd baby). Considering getting a Doppler to use at home just for reassurance but what do you ladies think about that? Are they more worry than good??

seventhrow · 28/05/2020 12:24

To everyone who has had private scans... my husband and I are keen to book one as he won't be able to see the baby at 20 weeks and obviously couldn't come to 12 weeks. Looking online all the clinics seem to say "medical reasons only!!!" but I don't really have a medical reason? I don't want to lie and say I've had worrying symptoms when I haven't... Has anyone else had this hoop to jump through? Or has strong opinions about me just sucking it up and putting up with the situation (also fine).

Hancock2020 · 28/05/2020 12:38

@Seventhrow try peekababy I sent them a message if they were doing gender scans last week and they said yes so seem they are continuing as normal, but I know window to the womb are for medical.reasons only as u had a scan with them at 8 weeks

Hancock2020 · 28/05/2020 12:38

*I not u lol

Oatmilk1 · 28/05/2020 12:40

I just had my 16 week call. It was pretty short but I also didn't have any questions. I find my midwives respond decently by email so I am comfortable that if I have questions I will get answers.

My next appt is scan and then GTT between 24 and 28 weeks and then a 28 week face to face. I have to book in for whooping cough vaccine myself and will do that sometime after 20 weeks. As far as I know there is no specific time that it needs to be done but not too late (in case you deliver early).

jojanna · 28/05/2020 12:47

Hello! I'm just joining this thread - my date estimation anticipated a December baby, but at my 12 week scan they estimated I was 14-15 weeks along, which puts me into mid November, although I was pretty sure :/. It also meant that they couldn't do the fluid transparency test, and sent me for quad bloods instead.

By and large everything's been ok - I think. I've been relatively symptom free, other than getting tired and a spot outbreak - very minimal nausea.

I do feel like I haven't had much medical advice/support though - the over the phone booking appointment was basically just going through their questionnaire, and other than that was just the 12 week scan/bloods, and it felt like each person I saw was just confined to that particular bit, and wasn't in a position to advise me on anything else. I know I'm prone to worrying - and my latest hobby seems to be googling all the various drugs I come into contact with (e.g. asthma inhaler, eczema cream). I started out trying to avoid them all, but doing without was not great, and they usual answer seems to be "not enough research shrug . The lack of face to face is hard, as well as the OH not being able to be involved on that side.

Finally caved and ordered some bigger bras (if they arrive - the lack of post due to covid is another bugbear!), the same may go for jeans quite soon - just feeling kinda round and sensitive atm!

I was told at my 16 week appointment yesterday that I'll get my whooping cough vaccine at my 20 week scan. I'm in Forth Valley, Scotland. I'm still surprised by how different the trusts operate. I get my next midwife appointment at 22 weeks and just assumed that was the norm but it appears not.

Natalie654321 · 28/05/2020 13:11

I had my 16 week midwife telephone appointment today and was told my whooping cough will be at my 20 week scan too. I am in East Midlands. I was told that my 24 week appointment will also be on the phone... No idea when I will actually see my midwife 😅😅

Hancock2020 · 28/05/2020 13:14

@Natalie654321 I honestly dont think we will see them

Natalie654321 · 28/05/2020 13:17

@hancock2020 yeh true. My 24 week telephone appointment is mid July so looks like things won't change by then... When I first got pregnant I never imagined it to be like this 😭
