@mrsD1990 I feel exactly the same about work. I’m worried about getting left behind. I work in finance and keeping up to date with market knowledge is crucial I just can’t actually imagine having a year out (which is what I’m planning at the mo!). There aren’t many women role models in my area and even fewer with families. I think I will definitely use the KIT days and also occasional texting of closer work mates but generally I think I will have to stay out as much as poss as I think being half involved will be even more stressful.

I had a meeting with new midwife today at the new hospital. All went well and she did new urine test and bloods. Bloods wasn’t the best , went all woozy! At the hospital they just jab you no questions asked whereas she was being really nice and considerate which I think actually gave me time to get more nervous haha!

We listened to the heart beat which was great and she said not too worry about movements and as many on here have said - lots of people don’t feel consistent movements til 28 weeks!

Buzz22 · 09/06/2020 21:12

@otterbaby oh my goodness I looked up the starsung and that is extremely cute! Added to shopping list!

@babymama09 how did your scan go? Have you heard back from fetal medicine centre?

@CouscousEvaporator I only know about my retroverted uterus as every sonographer and consultant has complained about it when scanning me! It makes their job more complicated. Other than that it's just a normal anatomical variation like being left handed.

@Indigogirl88 I'm glad to hear things have improved with your partner. I think not being able to attend scans and things doesnt help situations.

@Quiffy I had a sneaky McDonald's earlier. We can get it delivered so the temptation is too easy to succumb too! Totally worth the heartburn after!

babymama09 · 09/06/2020 21:41

@Buzz22 - Hi, the baby is still moving around and the heart is still beating, hydrops hasn't got worse but not got better either, I have however convinced my consultant to contact genetic testing and try to test my daughters skin cells from 2009 and i have also got her to agree that if she comes by herself that they will have neonatal drs waiting to try and help her. I haven;t heard back from London yet I do have to give my consultant their details and she has agreed to liaise with them and get as much info as possible to try and help my daughter whilst she is still fighting. How is everyone?? Sorry I haven't been catching up on any of the posts, i do hope everyone is safe and pregnancies are going well.

MummyBearBoo · 09/06/2020 21:54

@babymama09 -thats good that they've agreed to help! Xxx

Spark27 · 09/06/2020 22:19

@babymama09 great news that they are listening to you and your wants, and are looking into how they can help. xx

LexiM · 09/06/2020 22:21

@babymama09 I am glad they are listening to you more and looking into what they can do. I hope the London specialists can give more advice too.

I’m with you all on the work front, I’m basically the only member of staff full-time and have major involvement in most areas, so it will be hard for me to take a step back and let them get on with it. I think once baby is here I will however have a new focus and therefore be less worried. I have always given a lot of time to my job, sometimes too much and whilst I’ve made it clear I won’t be able to do as much going forward, I think I will find it hard to get a balance when I go back.

We’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a pram today. It was on such a good deal for the whole travel system I didn’t want to wait and it not be an option later at that price. We’ve gone for the Uppababy Vista. My husband just said “are you happy with that or second guessing yourself” as I tend to go round in circles about everything baby related. I wanted to wait to see it in person again but John Lewis is the only one near me selling it, our branch is still on the closed list and others opening they said nursery section/demos would be online only still. I was pretty sure it’s right for us anyway and my sister had an older model so I know the basic functions. Can’t wait to see it!

Indigogirl88 · 09/06/2020 23:08

@babymama09 that's good they are agreeing to the genetic testing, it must be so hard and having to push for something like that xx

I'm also with you on the work front, I started a new job last year and whilst they've been lovely (I might have to apply for maternity allowance though) I am unsure what I want to do. Dp is lovely though and is insistent on it being my decision and if finances allow I dont want to go back if at all. I'm old enough now to have had at least a "career" and pleased to get to my level in finance, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I changed my priorities. I dont know about you but I think it's one of them things that you have to just get on with in life. I do know a few women who went back after 6 months and totally up to them, but I do think they missed out on a lot and made them change their minds about breastfeeding etc as an example

Indigogirl88 · 09/06/2020 23:10

@lexiM oooh that looks so good that pram, very jealous. Ours is due tomorrow we only went for the ickle bubba moov stroller as we invested in the fancier harness as we know we will use that more on dog walks

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 10/06/2020 06:37

Morning everyone. I've not had chance to catch up with all the posts as yet.

Anyone completely shattered every time their alarm goes off in the morning? I mean I'm getting 8 hours sleep but I'm just exhausted and finding it so hard to wake up. Once I'm awake I'm fine. Just finding it hard to motivate myself maybe to want to go to work xx

Indigogirl88 · 10/06/2020 07:50

@autumnbabywintermummy yeah my dp goes to bed late which didnt help last night it was 12 before I went to sleep, up at 5 then 7 now I'm totally exhausted and I know it will effect me all day!

Also I'm getting terrible pins and needles and arm cramps during the night if I lay funny I think I might have carpal tunnel. Great! Another annoying pregnancy symptom hehe

Quiffy · 10/06/2020 08:00

@Buzz22 I think I'm glad we can't get it delivered. I'd be getting it all the time. The quarter pounder I had was the best thing I've ever tasted (and all the rest I ordered oops). Baby was v happy kicking afterwards 😹

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy with you on the tired. It's a massive struggle to have a shower and get dressed.

The work situation is a hard one, I'd imagine it might feel like starting in a new place when you go back? When I stop working I'll lose all my clients, so when/if I go back I'll need to start all again which feels scary. At the moment though I can't wait to finish. I took a week holiday this week and 2 of my clients are annoyed about it despite me working really late last week so they had lots of content 🙄 I also got an email yesterday about some work, they only sent me one thing last month so not super regular for money, this time though it was a bigger order but I let them know I'm off this week and have a lot of orders in for next week so looking at the end of that week/start of following week. Got a pissy email back about not being quick enough. Honestly. Fudge off all of them 😅 my plan is another week holiday in July and then I'm stopping at end of August for maternity. CANNOT Wait. Sorry needed a rant 😭

@LexiM oooh nice! That one was on our list, looks really good. I think we'll just order ours, I really love the Stomp V4 and my local places don't stock it anyway.

Highly recommend Facebook marketplace, we got a Joie Sansa 2 in 1 swing yesterday for £50 and it's in superb condition. Dh adores it as it's a big man gadget 😹

HerondaleDucks · 10/06/2020 08:05

I'm on a mission to defeat pregnancy insomnia. I went for an hour long walk last night and then did some exercises with light weights. I managed to fall back to sleep! So happy with this!

Indigogirl88 · 10/06/2020 09:07

Oooh @Quiffy like the sound of that! Yeah I'm with you on the work front it's hard balance, I'm working till mid September though but also thinking of taking a week off in July or early August, I could carry it over but I need a rest

@herondaleducks well done that sounds good, I need to walk more the weather has been totally pants this week though

Spark27 · 10/06/2020 09:32

Urgh, pregnancy insomnia and aches and pains are really getting to me at the moment. I feel so lazy and useless.
I couldn't get to sleep until about 0330 this morning (not helped by the fact that the cat attacked me at 2330 when I was almost asleep, and then DD was awake between 0200-0300). I wanted to get up early with DD hut ended up sleeping in til 0900, so DH got up with her. I feel bad as we're on leave this week and are supposed to be taking the lie in in turn, but hes been up early for her every morning. And even though I've just woken up my back is already killing me. I just feel really useless and bad for my DH. Sorry, having a bit of a down day.

Exciting news on the pram and stroller purchases.

HerondaleDucks · 10/06/2020 09:37

Don't blame you having a down day @Spark27 if you haven't had enough sleep. The lying awake in the middle of the night is driving me mad. Especially as DH is snoring away peacefully and the dog is snoring at the bottom of the bed. I feel like shouting.
The back ache is nightmare. I use deep heat on it when it's really bad.

@Indigogirl88 the pregnancy books all bang on about exercise so I'm killing two birds with one stone I guess.

MummyBearBoo · 10/06/2020 10:40

It's bad my hip pain woke me up countless times! Backache is bad and I can't get to sleep til after midnight baby wakes me up about 2sm do somersaults and kicking but coz I'm in my side it's like really low down on my left side! Then i have to get up coz I need the loo! Xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 10/06/2020 11:30

Oh I knew I wouldn't be the only one shattered! As much as I'm sorry you're all feeling this way I feel better it's not just me!!

How everyone's day going? I'm thinking I'd like it to brighten up a bit outside. Also been very emotional today and yesterday, cried because DP accidentally hit my foot when he was practicing his golf swing in the lounge (yes I know it seems ridiculous but the lounge is big enough so it's ok 😂) it barely even touched me and he rushed over to me to check I was ok and Was just so sorry that I just cried anyway even though it didn't even hurt!! And this morn my mum could tell I was off yesterday so called for a chat and cried again in car to work! All just hormones I know!! X

CharlieBalf · 10/06/2020 11:37

I'm still getting up two to three times a night to wee which I guess is good practice 😂 Got to say I still have naps in the day as everyday activities just make me so tired.
I have a midwife appointment at 25 weeks but I feel like I want weekly check ups to reassure me that baby is ok. Anyone else constantly stress about things that can go wrong?

otterbaby · 10/06/2020 12:49

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I know what you mean about the hormones! Watched Life of Pi on tv and cried for most of the movie. Like...ugly crying. It was embarrassing 😂

@CharlieBalf I wish we could have weekly checkups. Baby moving is my only reassurance now, but she was a bit quiet this morning so obviously my mind started going...thrashing around as usual now.

Been very busy in the nursery, it's all painted and we've got the cot and bookcase up. For anyone looking for storage ideas, I bought this Ikea trolley and am using it as a nappy trolley. First shelf has thermometer, nose sucker, creams, baby oil, etc. Second is stuffed full of muslins and bibs. And the bottom is going to have nappies. Might be an idea if anyone is making a trip to Ikea soon 😊

HerondaleDucks · 10/06/2020 12:55

Looks brill @otterbaby I'm still painting... after DH erm antics last weekend I will be putting him to good use this weekend to finish it!

Treaclepie19 · 10/06/2020 13:05

Im absolutely shattered too. Waking up more tired than I go to sleep.

I have a blood test Friday to check its nothing else because I'm falling asleep quite often. Not the easiest to manage with a 4 year old!

CharlieBalf · 10/06/2020 14:55

@otterbaby I love the idea of the trolly! Such a good idea to have it on wheels as well. You sound super organised ha ING all the baby bits and bobs already 😂

LexiM · 10/06/2020 16:28

Thanks everyone, can’t wait for the pram to arrive.

I’m also in the tired and sore camp today! Was awake at 4.30 this morning, not even sure why. My husband is listening to music whilst he works which usually I love but right now I’m like shhhh!!

@HerondaleDucks wish I was as motivated to exercise as you. I can imagine you do feel good afterwards!

@otterbaby the trolley sounds good, I’m going to wait until our cot is up and see how much space we’ve got. I was wondering where I could keep all the nappies/changing bits.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy totally get the emotions. It’s like deep down you know you don’t need to cry about something but at the same time you can’t even help yourself!

LostinAusten2 · 10/06/2020 18:12

Hey just to say huge sympathies to the sleep-deprived. I’ve no idea if it’s the achey hips or some insomnia or something else, but I’m waking up about 3am every night...
Just ridiculous. Will try some exercise (not my strong suit) and mindfulness, and seeing midwife anyway next week so will definitely ask for help then... but working is not easy right now 🥱🥱🥱

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 10/06/2020 18:42

@otterbaby oh that made me laugh 😂 so silly isn't it! And you seem so organised! I've nearly bought everything just need to finish decorating the lounge then starting on babies room. I'll be glad when it's all done so can then relax hopefully for a few weeks before.

@Treaclepie19 hopefully it's all ok (I'm sure it will be) I'm just struggling to I suppose have the energy just for everyday like this week. Hoping it's just a phase and will pass.

@LexiM exactly! Like I know it's not justified but I just have a little cry anyway 😂

Also this is a bit probably controversial but is anyone feeling like all they think about is the baby at the minute? Like in a way I'm hoping to get everything sorted soon so that I can have a few weeks of chill and just me and DP time before the baby is here. Don't get me wrong I am absolutely in love with baby already and totally over the moon I just feel like I need a break from always thinking about decorating and buying baby bits. I also feel like I've become really boring all I talk about is baby and corona to anyone I know! I think I'm just annoying myself a bit like I've lost my identity a bit! Maybe it's just me. Please don't judge!! X
