@couscousevaporator I found pram suits to be a bit of a faff. Esp when they're so small. I'm probably just going to layer up and use blankets. This time round I've got a few (0-6 months and 6-12) of the Tuppance & Crumble star wrap from ebay. They were between £6-9 each with postage. Very happy, and you can use them in car seats

Zaalfruit · 08/06/2020 13:58

@babymama09 keep us updated and best wishes and luck to you x

Zaalfruit · 08/06/2020 14:02

Had to google what prams suits are ! All this time I thought they were snow suits for the winter. I am not sure how I feel about them I find jackets soo cute - being eyeing up zara clothes hoping they have a sale .

@Spark27 I just googled tuppance and crumble omg they are so cute - I think I will get one - sooo soo cute I think as a coming home wrap it would Be lovely .

We have some money left on our Debenhams gift voucher from our wedding I might pick up a nice Xmas outfit as baby will be 3 months by then and hopefully we can have a Xmas get together.

CharlieBalf · 08/06/2020 14:35

Hi ladies! Just hit week 23 thought I'd check in.
On movement: I get little jolts which I think are baby moving but as I'm a first timer I have no idea! Struggling with heat last week but much happier now that it's a little overcast.
We've decided not to get a gender scan and have a little surprise come October 😊

BooMamaBear · 08/06/2020 15:35

I've got the cutest Ted Baker pram suit it's furry in baby pink and has a bow on the bum I used it when we went to a stately home and gardens with DD so we could take her out of the pram for a look around and when we went in the beach (it was windy) I didn't use them much when she was a baby think she was 6 months old! I do have a furry snow suit too as she was a winter baby too which I used when I put her in the carrier! Xxx

FourPlasticRings · 08/06/2020 16:35

Regarding pram suits and padded coats/jackets, just make sure you don't put babies in the car in them. I think they're useful if you're going on a long walk with the pram but not worth it unless you're going to be doing that frequently. They're not safe to use in slings either.

In my trust, gestational diabetes testing is triggered either by own medical history, family medical history or sugar being detected in urine.

@babymama09 That's a terrible response from the doctors- is there any way to seek a second opinion from a private practice doctor? The NHS are limited in what they can offer, unfortunately. It's very unfair.

Zaalfruit · 08/06/2020 18:08

@CharlieBalf I’m the same sometimes I randomly feel something still can’t always work what the feeling is. Aww it’s so exciting waiting for the surprise. I didn’t want to know but my dh really wanted so we ended up finding out .

@FourPlasticRings thank you didn’t think of them over heating in their outer wear . I am not planning to get thick outer wear till closer to due date . My dh has his eyes on some fancy ted baker coat that matches his -I was like no way she will wear it once for £60 .

LexiM · 08/06/2020 18:37

@CouscousEvaporator I haven’t put much weight on. I lost around 4-6lbs and I’m still just under my start weight. I have a bump and my boobs are much bigger. Not worried though as baby all fine at scan last week. I think we are just all different.

I am probably not going to buy a pram suit, they can’t be used in car seats and I’ve heard they are a faff. I guess if you go outside for long periods in a pram then it could be useful but I’m going for blankets. I see so many barely used pram suits for sale. I’ve got a morrak blanket for the car which I got second hand in good condition. It fits into the car seat and can be put over the baby if needed without it falling off.

I think the diabetes tests is only done if you meet certain criteria from your booking appointment or have blood/urine results that indicate something. I am having one because my dad has diabetes.

My lower back/hip has been so painful. It’s fine providing I don’t do anything but as soon as o have a productive day it turns. Could barely get out of bed this morning, feeling about 80!

BntTowers · 08/06/2020 20:48

@Babymama09 I'm so sorry to hear about what's happening and how frustrating it is to not get any real answers.

We had a day putting up the wall stickers at the weekend (I ended up emailing the seller and paying back the refund, couldn't live with them if I hadn't) they look really good, although a few people have been saying it makes them think we are having a boy, I though animals were fairly gender neutral...

My mum popped round at lunch time for a cuppa, it was a bit chilly sat out in the garden but was good to see her as hadn't seen her in over 3 months. I have been so exhausted today and hardly been able to keep my eyes open since about 3pm. Also very much suffering with back pain which isn't fun.

Buzz22 · 08/06/2020 20:57

@LexiM and @BntTowers I cant speak from experience as luckily I'm not suffering any aches and pains yet. But my friend used a bump band for back ache in her pregnancy. Hers was from jojo maman bebe but I guess you can find them on something like asos maternity?

And I love the animal stickers! I dont think they look too boyish at all!

CharlieBalf · 08/06/2020 21:27

@Zaalfruit yes we're excited either way and trying out different names! Obviously getting everything gender neutral 😂
@BntTowers I love the animal theme- we're getting a world map with indigenous animals from Enchanted Interiors. Just painted the nursery an apple green this weekend 😊

BntTowers · 08/06/2020 23:08

@Buzz22 I do have a babygo one, but only wear it when walking as it's uncomfortable if I'm sat at my desk all day. Never then it only seems to help when walking and later in the evening the back pain will get worse.

@CharlieBalf that one was a close second choice for ours, love it. We've not painted as our house is a new build and has white walls pretty much everywhere and the ceiling in that particular rooms is mega high and I didn't fancy getting up on the ladders to paint! Figured we can paint in a few years. I think there are only a few of us on team yellow, we are waiting until October as well.

I am so tired but unable to sleep. I think I'm just going to be some sort of exhausted insomniac for a while.

MsSian93 · 09/06/2020 07:54

Yeah re the diabetes the reason i was having the test was down to a few health factors of mine, my BMI and the fact that both my parents have type 2 diabetes. They only tested me early because i had sugar in my wee at one of my weekly checks. Spoke to my consultant today and she is also the diabetes consultant which is handy. I will see her every 2 weeks for a scan and a review from the 6th July. Finding managing it by diet ok so far, as i'm likely to have this baby its looking like no more than 12/13 weeks so i can cope without nice food for that long - i think!

Meeting my midwife today for the first time, just hoping all my levels are good and i can stay away from the hospital today! Baby movements have really ramped up these past few days, i'm currently 24 + 3!

Indigogirl88 · 09/06/2020 07:55

I slept awful last night suffering as well with dead arms and hip pain @LexiM added to that dp was sleeping badly I think I got about 3 hours maximum!

We havent decorated yet as the spare room/nursery/ office has one sage green wall so just going to keep that and put pictures up. Realised yesterday I've got 3 months left at work as taking annual leave! I'm starting to stress about finances now but dp is trying to reassure me, I'm freaking a bit as not sure I'll even get maternity allowance 😩

Anyway heres to 23 weeks today!

CharlieBalf · 09/06/2020 09:53

@BntTowers I keep waking up at 5am which I guess is good practice nbjt means that by 11 I'm shattered and need a nap. We're in a new build too, the kind that has 4 rooms but are are tiny 😂 So painting the nursery didn't take too much effort or paint!

Team yellow is rare these days I guess just something else to look forward to 💛

BooMamaBear · 09/06/2020 10:19

@Indigogirl88 -have you got a pregnancy pillow mine really helps- if I don't have anything to support my bump I get no sleep!

We haven't decorated yet but were using pebble grey for the walls with pink accessories! Xx

Quiffy · 09/06/2020 10:27

For those wondering about GD test, here's the reasons for a test that came on my letter.

@babymama09 I'm so sorry, this is such a cruel thing to go through nevermind again ❤️

@BntTowers love the stickers!

We've been busy trying to sort out house for baby over last few days. The nursery is now clear with all furniture made. It just needs wallpaper and paint now (eek). Today we head to the skip which should be fun as it's only been open a week. Maybe a cheeky McDonald's too!

Morning girls,
I have contacted a specialist from a fetal medicine centre in London for advice they have agreed to look at my scans to c if there is any advice they can offer. My scan is at half 1 this afternoon. Thank you all for the support you have provided.
Will let you know what the hospital say. I'm from Cheshire in response to where abouts I am. I don't hold out much hope with the hospital in London but anything is worth a try xx

CouscousEvaporator · 09/06/2020 11:39

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the reassurance yesterday. ❤️
@lucylou37 thank you, I also find it a bit weird that I am doing urine tests, I did have one at my 20 week but it was put into a tray full of other unlabelled pots so I’m not sure I’ll ever hear anything back... lol. I’ve just bought some off amazon as then I have a bit of control over it. She said she would write me a prescription for the tests even 🙈

@Buzz22 Yes it is me who is tall, also 5’10”. Perhaps I also have a retroverted uterus? It’s not really been mentioned but then I’m guessing they wouldn’t if I didn’t ask. I do have a small bump, its more the other lack of weight that I’m worried about, I’ve lost a stone since I’ve found out I’m pregnant with no sign of it going back on yet, despite eating more (deliberately!). Maybe I’ll put it all on in the third trimester 🙈 am bio-oiling in case haha

I think in my trust gestational diabetes test is triggered by other risk factors, thanks for those who reassured me of that too. Sorry, feel like I’m being a right worry wart. 😫

@BntTowers I love those stickers 🥰

@otterbaby also big thank you for that starsnug recommendation, utterly adorable. Will be getting one of those. I knew you can’t put babies in car seats with a pram suit so that seems like an excellent versatile alternative.

@CharlieBalf we are also team yellow and have everything white/ neutral colours. I’m also using a lot of green earthy colours 🥰 might save us money as well if we want a second 😂

@babymama09 hope you have more luck with the London clinic, thinking of you x

BntTowers · 09/06/2020 12:08

Has anyone seen these or know anyone that has one? They look so cosy for in the pram.

Indigogirl88 · 09/06/2020 13:12

I'm having a GTT test as my mum had type 2 so they referred me.

@bnttowers yeah I've seen those but a bit worried the flaps might fall over the babies face 🤷‍♀️ the things I think of

I'm thinking of writing a still to buy list
Dp has been amazing considering how I felt the other week, hes also making a list so we can compare....men

MrsD1990 · 09/06/2020 13:28

Hi girls hope everyone is good. Been feeling kicks for the last couple of weeks but last night I saw my tummy move from the kicks for the first time which was absolutely amazing!!

Been counting down to meeting little baby but now suddenly feel a little anxious I only have 3-ish months left of work until I go on maternity leave. Can't wait for mat leave but at the same time a bit worried I'm going to be forgotten. Does anyone have any practical tips for mat leave and not being forgotten at work? I know I get 10 keeping in touch days and then on top of that I guess I'll have to remember to text people now and again... And ask people to meet up... Know when baby gets here this won't be front of mind but I would appreciate any tips - I made a lot of sacrifices to build the career I have but I'm still only mid-level right now. Would hate for this to be where everything ends for me (which I have seen happen to a colleague unfortunately)

Spark27 · 09/06/2020 13:53

@MrsD1990 KIT days are a good trial run for getting ready in the mornings and getting baby to childcare and into work. Before you go off on Mat leave it's good to discuss some guidelines with your boss of how much you want to be contacted while you're off (not at all, only for urgent stuff, regularly, etc) as some will worry about accusations of disturbing you too much. You can let them know if you want to do social meet ups, etc. Maybe chat with others to lay the groundworks on if youd like to be invited to a Christmas do (if they're a thing this year) and any work drinks, etc.

I found it really weird going back. I only went back part time but it took me about 6 months to get back into it. And you have to get used to having set times you have to leave, or if baby is ill (they pick up so much at the beginning at nursery) you have to take off early. But you might find your priorities change. I still like my job and enjoy what I do. But my priority now is doing the best I can while I'm there, but earning the money to fund my family lifestyle. I'm not too focused on pushing for more and more until kids are older and I have more time. One good thing- your timekeeping becomes amazing! xx

MummyBearBoo · 09/06/2020 14:14

Not sure what your work is like but as a property lawyer mine was office based in a large office we rarely saw clients mainly just online and phone calls for everything and they encouraged us to introduce our babies once they were born so I took DD into work when she was 6 months old it was nice seeing all my work mates again but after a year I decided not to go back. I might go back part time when DD is settled in school and if this one is ok when she starts pre-school at 2.5 years - we'll see! Xxx

MrsD1990 · 09/06/2020 20:24

Thanks @Spark27 those are some really good points. I might lay the ground work to make sure people stay in touch - but sunny want them bothering me all the time! But would be good to be updated of any major office developments while I'm gone

@mummybearboo ahh we usually see our clients once a month but not planning to meet up with them while I'm on mat leave - will just arrange to see my work mates on KIT days I think!
