Glad you had a lovely birthday @HerondaleDucks

I’m still not feeling movement grrr have a midwife appointment next Tuesday as I’m changing hospital so they said they will listen for the heartbeat then.

I ordered a couple of “starsnugs” today one towelling one and a fleece one - they look really cute.

I got a lovely Aden + anais sleeping bag but it’s only 0.5 tog so I think will be too cool for the baby, I’ll have to give to my friend who is due in August instead. I like the sound of the bags as alleviates the worry of them getting tangled in blankets.
I’m finding M&S website is sold out of the vast majority of small sizes for baby gros, vests etc! Need to broaden my search. Hear good things about Next for baby stuff but have never shopped there myself. I’m not averse to getting some second hand bundles too but it’s tricky to see on EBay what’s crap and what’s not and also not knowing the gender makes it more difficult too!

Really really hoping for some movement this weekend or next week. Will be 22 weeks on Saturday!

FourPlasticRings · 05/06/2020 06:17

Oh yes, happy belated birthday @HerondaleDucks!

@NWnature
I quite like Next baby clothing. Nice quality, resells well. TBH though, I'm just waiting until M and S stock back up (don't need much anyway as we bought gender neutral for DD). I doubt they'll be out of stock until September.

Second hand can be OK- check the item description as it should tell you about any damage or staining and check the seller's approval rating and how many ratings they've got. Look for known brands and avoid bundles that say things like, 'Debenhams and F and F' unless it specifies which item is which as you'll mostly get F and F.

LexiM · 05/06/2020 07:16

@HerondaleDucks sounds like a lovely birthday and those cakes look wonderful.

@NWnature I agree about the baby sleeping bags but have no idea what tog to get for Oct/Nov baby. It mentions the temperature for each but I have no clue on that either. I have so much to learn!

My body is feeling broken today. Had such a bad nights sleep, my middle feels like it’s stretching at the moment and my arm aches from the vaccination. I also did a lot yesterday so my ever appearing hip pain is also back. Just having a good moan really 😂😂

Treaclepie19 · 05/06/2020 07:21

With sleeping bags I'd say it depends on your house. Our room never really goes below 19/20 degrees so i'll likely mainly use 1 tog sleeping bags and layer clothes if needed.

My stomach is so sore this morning 😩

Zaalfruit · 05/06/2020 07:24

@HerondaleDucks your cupcakes are making me crave cups so badly !! They look so good.

@LexiM - the whooping cough arm pain is the worst I didn’t realise . I was annoyed for about a week has multiple arguments with Dh lol and I forced him to sleep on the sofa bed in our room. ( Don’t even get me started why we have a sofa bed - dh last year randomly ordered it as a surprise - it’s a huge leather annoying beast)

Do you get really bad tightening on your lower stomach I do and it hurts so much . I can’t still tell kicks yet which scare me as I’m 23 weeks now and bump still isn’t that big .

Baby sleeping bags confuse me too - why aren’t the arms covered?

Hopefully today is a good day . 😁

MsSian93 · 05/06/2020 07:41

Hope everyone's doing well ladies!

I was causing trouble again at the day assessment unit this week. Had a GTT last week that came back fine, fast forward to this Wednesday and had sugar in my urine and blood test confirmed Gestational diabetes. So that's hypertension and this - hoping i can avoid pre-eclampsia! Waiting for a referral to the diabetic team next week, have a consultant appointment for my kidney condition on monday and seeing my midwife tuesday for a 24 week appointment because of everything going on.

I feel like packing a bag and moving into the hospital honestly! All this talk of mcdonalds and cake is making me so jealous! I've got a massive diet overhaul to go through but to be honest i could do with losing a few lbs and i think its likely that i will be induced any time from 37 weeks so could potentially only have 12 weeks left - that is terrifying!

Spark27 · 05/06/2020 08:34

@NWnature we swaddled our DD for the first few months using a cellular blanket or large muslin. She loved being wrapped up, and it helped with the startle reflex. Provided you secure them enough it's ok at the beginning before they can move. But you can get the newborn sleeping bags that mimic the swaddling effect.
@Zaalfruit you can get sleeping bags with detachable arms. We were bought on, but never actually used the arms. Always seemed like too much faff. Suppose it depends on the temperature where you are. We have a Gro egg for the room so can monitor temperature easily.

Had a pretty rough night last night (TMI alert), had a really upset stomach and generally felt terrible. Had some cramps too, but DH was fine and he'd eaten the same. Then was a little bit worried as baby seemed quiet (guessing it was due to all the turbulence), but pleased to report that she seems fine and is wriggling around this morning. Feeling pretty drained and tender though so hoping DD is in a chilled out kind of mood

Treaclepie19 · 05/06/2020 09:04

So sorry you've got such a lot going on @MsSian93 😔
Sounds like they're keeping a close eye on you.

@Spark27 I had that on Monday morning and felt pretty drained all day. I have ibs so put it down to that but I do think its a pregnancy thing.

Treacle81 · 05/06/2020 09:18

Morning girls! @Spark27 I’m the same! @Treaclepie19 I also have IBS and just before fell pregnant was getting checked at hospital and tummy:bowels just not right. Fell pregnant and had no probs up to I’d say a week ago. Now getting (TMI) but really groaning noises from tummy and mucous in my stool 😔 seems to be coming back! Need to speak to mw about it as had to come off my antispasmodic when fell pregnant . Must need some kind of replacement. Also got really sore right ear and all stuffy nosed 😔 xx

Spark27 · 05/06/2020 09:49

@treaclepie19 and @treacle81 I have IBS too and had to come off what I normal take. For the main part I've been fine since getting pregnant, and was fine for a little while after having DD, then in started up again. I think for me pregnancy usually helps it (unfortunately I only want the 2 kids, otherwise I could end up with a tribe!)

otterbaby · 05/06/2020 10:02

@NWnature I've bought a few bits from Next and they seem really nice quality. They do an organic cotton range if you're into that. I've got a few bits from M&S as well, seems like they restock randomly so just keep checking and you might get lucky!

@Zaalfruit re sleeping bag arms, would think maybe it's because you're trying to keep their core warm and arms don't really matter if they're in a sleepsuit as well? But won't help with them startling themselves! I have a few swaddles and 2 sleeping bags that are 0-6 mo so can experiment with both! What I'm learning is that baby will probably do the opposite of whatever you plan for 😂

Had some lovely news this morning...a good friend's sister had a full-term stillborn little boy a few years ago and has had 2 miscarriages since. She's now pregnant with twins and due in November 😊 I'm so pleased for her!

NWnature · 05/06/2020 10:22

That’s lovely news @otterbaby! Everyone seems to recommend Next will check them out and put some alert things on M&S stock as that seems to works a treat on the John Lewis website.

@mssian93 so much going on! Sounds as though you are getting all the follow up appointments etc nice and quickly, have the staff all been helpful and reassuring?

FourPlasticRings · 05/06/2020 10:51

@MsSian93 Sounds like a lot to take in. Sorry about the gestational diabetes. I've had sugar in my urine too but they're not testing me until 28 weeks. Let us know what the team says.

With sleeping bags, I didn't use them last time for a month or so because her head was small enough to fit through the neck hole. I used 2.5 tog most of the year but it depends to an extent on your baby- the guidelines on the bags are designed to be the safest and generally cooler is safer so lots of babies are actually too cool at the recommended levels to sleep well. Then again some babies run hot and would be sweltering in the recommended clothing.

BntTowers · 05/06/2020 11:27

I had such a good run of being really motivated with work this morning, now all my energy has drained and I'm struggling. I think there's going to have to be a nap at lunch time.

My mum finished another knitted cardi the other day, it's very cute. I don't think we'll have to buy any knitwear for baby at this rate.

@MsSian93 the gd sounds like a lot to take in. I'm due a test in about a month.

@NWnature I've found the same with m&s, it says it's in stock, lets you add it to your bag then when I go to pay it says out of stock. I gave up in the end.

Just had a desk fan and Haakka breast pump delivered.

Zaalfruit · 05/06/2020 11:38

@MsSian93 that’s a lot to take in and action. Today I have decided no more chocolates - I ate a whole box of celebrations over the day dh was so surprised and in had a can of coke . All you can try and do is your best and it must be hard .

Thanks everyone about the sleeping bags - they look so cute - and so does the swaddle cloth things .

Dh ordered a Liverpool kit for the baby as she apparently needs it - hmm in October sure :/ . But that’s his choice and a matching One aswell

Has anyone else measured bump from belly button to pubic bone -I got a table measure and it’s 15cm - I still look like I ate a large meal and it needs to be digested

Quiffy · 05/06/2020 11:38

@NWnature I’ve bought most clothes on eBay, I tend to go for single items as you see them better. Only had one item out of LOADS that I’m not happy with. Thea rest has been really good condition - suspect it’s a case of not worn much. I’ve had a few Next things in there and they’ve been lovely. I’ve mainly bought ted baker, hatleys, Zara and monsoon, all very cheap and superb condition.

@Spark27 @Treaclepie19 @Treacle81 sorry you’re all suffering, that sounds awful to deal with :(

@otterbaby that’s really exciting news ❤️❤️

@bnttowers hope you get a nap in at lunch

Had my midwife appointment this morning, went really well. Got the mat1 firm, baby box form and was surprised I got to hear and record heartbeat! My boy is just as anti social as me, she found it straight away and then kept moving to avoid her. Just like the scans 🤪😹 we had a good laugh about it.

Now to relax as I’m off until 15th, going to crochet and watch trashy tv while DH has to work 😁

Zaalfruit · 05/06/2020 11:44

Tape* lol auto correct

@Quiffy that’s so good!! Amazing , I want to watch trashy tv instead I’m dealing with complaints at work . So tired of people complaining about silly things lols

Zara baby sale is normally really good in store .

Quiffy · 05/06/2020 11:58

@zaalfruit just had a go and got 18cm so close. My bump starts really high, just under boobs, it’s really strange as it’s so hard until under belly button. Your work sounds a nightmare, hope you’ve at least got the weekend off.

BooMamaBear · 05/06/2020 12:13

Gosh loads to catch up on glad your scan went well @Buzz22!

My nose has just randomly started bleeding I know they say it's quite common in pregnancy but can't remember the last time I had a nose bleed!!

Baby been moving and kicking loads yesterday and today even when I'm sat up now which she wasn't doing before so she gave DH a good few hard kicks while we were sat watching TV!

I'm 22 weeks on Sunday!
This is my second so since my booking appointment at 5 weeks I don't see my midwife agin til 20th July -28w! But I have seen my consultant 3 times and due to see her again and have another scan at 26w! Xx

HerondaleDucks · 05/06/2020 15:09

Got a waving pic at rescan today. Brain and head and neck all ok. So phew

Early Oct babies part 5
NWnature · 05/06/2020 16:06

Hooray @herondaleducks so pleased!!!! What good news for the weekend. Love this little hand

BecLJ · 05/06/2020 16:10

Aww lovely photo @HerondaleDucks! Glad it all went well

LexiM · 05/06/2020 16:31

@MsSian93 sorry it’s so worrying for you and glad they are keeping a good eye on you. I’ve got to have the glucose test in a few weeks as my Dad is diabetic.

@HerondaleDucks glad all your checks were ok today.

Baby is moving lots today and I’m starting to see more movements from the outside. I’ve purchased a bedside crib off Facebook Market Place which I’m collecting tomorrow. We’ve gone for the Tutti Bambini Cozee crib, it looks so lovely online so I can’t wait to see it in person. Feels like our first big baby purchase we will have in our house. It goes up and down quick easily so we can have a good look and easily store til nearer the birth. Not sure I will want to once I see it up!!

MsSian93 · 05/06/2020 17:19

Thanks everyone, i was expecting it as both my parents are diabetic and it's just another list of things to add to! Had a text to say they've booked me 3 extra scans so thats another 5 scans i'll be having before he's here! Feel like i need to get a move on with the big things, got lots of clothes and bits from the supermarkets but need to get a move on with choosing a pushchair!

blankiesandunicorns · 05/06/2020 18:14

Hi everyone, hope everyone's well!
Anyone else getting vivid messed up dreams? Last night I had an awful nightmare that I was losing the baby I don't feel rested at all today. (Have precious mc and gynae type trauma) doesn't take much to trigger me. Iv probably only had 3 since being pregnant but last night was definitely worst.

Hope everyone's doing well and managing ok.
