Hey belated happy birthday @HerondaleDucks! And @indigogirl88 I’m planning to do the same thing on holidays - two weeks before mat leave. I work for the government and there’s something funny in the policy that if I take a whole day sick leave not long before this my mat leave will automatically start... but still v lucky it’s a generous policy. I’m aiming for contractual mat pay for 6 months and then statutory for 6 months so sorry not sure on the allowance...

Treaclepie19 · 04/06/2020 12:00

Oh gosh @LexiM we were meant to be having mcdonalds today and didn't because of the queue. Now wondering if we should.
My arm started going dead a few hours after the jab.

@HerondaleDucks belated happy birthday!

@SkyBlue20 so sorry you've had such a rough time Flowers Look after yourself.

Hope baby cooperates today @Buzz22!!

@LexiM very jealous of your McDonalds. Our local opened yesterday but I'm a bit scared to go because of queues. Had a dream about McDonald's last night, I managed to get there and the menu was all pizza and sandwiches - no burgers or selects. My family were getting annoyed as I was crying because I wanted a quarter pounder with cheese and DH kept telling me to order a McRoast Beef and Horseradish sandwich like normal.

THAT'S NOT NORMAL.

I have a midwife appointment that is close to McDonalds tomorrow so might swing by...

Treaclepie19 · 04/06/2020 12:07

@Quiffy I would totally eat that creation! 😂

BooMamaBear · 04/06/2020 12:17

@LexiM -I had my jab in the afternoon and I didn't get a dead arm it was just achy for a couple of days, I got it in my right arm so I could still sleep on my left -it didn't start hurting til nighttime! Xx

Spark27 · 04/06/2020 12:48

@Indigogirl88 I'm taking 2 weeks annual leave and then my mat leave is due to start on my due date. No experience of the maternity allowance I'm afraid

@LostinAusten2 I'm Gov too. For us the policy is if you take a full sick day for pregnancy related reasons in the 4 weeks before you're due it automatically triggers your mat leave to start. But if you took a full sick day for another reason it wouldnt. But then it would count on your annual sick days, whereas pregnancy related sick doesnt. Or you could always go into work for an hour, and then take the rest of the day sick and you dont need to register it.

Treacle81 · 04/06/2020 13:03

@LexiM v jealous of you getting to IKEA and McDs! Well done! Our McDs hasn’t opened yet but heard that one in Grangemouth shut after 20 mins of opening as couldn’t cope with demand! Lucky you had a v rare quiet time!! I am also planning on 2 weeks Annual and will start mat leave on due date. I’m only planning on taking 6 mths off now as looks like defo be wfh xx

LexiM · 04/06/2020 13:12

Our McDonald’s opened Tuesday, I definitely wouldn’t have tried them as queues were crazy but I think after the first day if you go outside peak times it’s not too bad. I would never queue for hours for it!

Same with our Ikea, apparently the first day there were queues but after that it was fine. I can imagine it will be busy at the weekend.

@Quiffy such a funny dream!! I’m back to the weird pregnancy dreams this week too, this morning I was at a lovely wedding in my dream then two minutes later I was at a tube station, leaned on this crowd barrier and fell on the track. I was glad my alarm went off at that point - it makes no sense!! 😂

MrsD1990 · 04/06/2020 13:14

@LexiM I had McDonalds yesterday too! Completely overdid it, me and husband felt sick afterwards we ate so much 😂 think I might have ruined McDonalds for myself. Was sooo happy eating my big Mac and mcflurry though - think we probably could've stopped there. Don't want to say what else we ordered, I'll just say it was a lot 😂

Treaclepie19 · 04/06/2020 13:29

I'm so jealous of the mcdonalds!
Currently eating some peanut butter toast after I threw my beans in the bin thinking the butter had gone off. Dh says it hasn't and the blue spots were from the seeded bread but there we go.
Having a right day of it 🙈

Indigogirl88 · 04/06/2020 14:18

You're all making me want mc Donald's now, along with ice cream, sweets, diet coke, pickles a random combination!

Had my vaccine....now what? Just wait for midwife appointment I suppose but thats another 2 weeks. What else can we do with ourselves in that time 🤔

Indigogirl88 · 04/06/2020 14:18

God not mc Donald's mcdonalds!

LexiM · 04/06/2020 16:08

@MrsD1990 I wouldn’t judge you 😂 the lady that took the order out some things through I didn’t want so when I went to pay I amended the order but they included them in the order anyway so we had way too much as well!

@Indigogirl88 I sometimes hate how it autocorrects abbreviations on here!! I know what you mean, I’ve got just under 3 weeks til my next midwife appointment then I think it’s another 4 to the next. I have felt like things were going fast but can imagine they will feel slow now!

My mum just dropped up a bookcase and baby wardrobe, so we will have lots of building to do now. I don’t mind doing it though.

Spark27 · 04/06/2020 16:25

I'm jealous. I'm 23w 4d but still got another 5w till my next appointment as it's my second, and my mw is only around near me on thursdays. The 9w between my scan and my 28w appt feels like forever! Pleased I'm getting lots of movement for reassurance, and I dont really have any questions for my mw, but still feels like ages

Made the most of the last 30mins before DD gets home and had a Magnum. Yum

Buzz22 · 04/06/2020 17:33

Consultant spent an hour scanning me trying to finish the anomaly scan. Still struggled. Now my stomach hurts from all the pushing down.
Didnt get a very good view of babys heart but what she could see looked ok. She blamed it on my uterus still being pretty retroverted so baby is in awkward positions and further back than usual.
Also struggled measuring cervix length on internal scan as the cervix tilts so far backwards. All seems good though so thats a relief.

Loving all the McDonald's chat. We got one delivered yesterday lunchtime. We could face queuing for the drive thru. Was so good!

HerondaleDucks · 04/06/2020 19:44

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Indigogirl88 · 04/06/2020 20:05

@Spark27 just tucking into a solero!

@herondaleducks happy birthday!

@Buzz22 that happened to me she had to try for ages to get a good view of the heart

HerondaleDucks · 04/06/2020 20:14

Been so tired today and had bad back pain since last night.

Is it safe to use a hot water bottle but just on my back?

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 04/06/2020 20:33

@HerondaleDucks happy birthday for yesterday, did you have a nice day? I think probably safe to use one as it's your back but couldn't be too sure. I would if it was me. I've been having hotter baths probably than I should have been having all the way through pregnancy if that helps x

HerondaleDucks · 04/06/2020 20:40

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy
Ooh that's reassuring I will fill one now and see if it helps.

Yes I had a lovely day. My dh works at a therapeutic farm for adults with learning disabilities. So he took me to the farm and we walked through the fields with the dog and I petted the animals.
I got some more delicious cupcakes in a bouquet which was beautiful. My dsd made me blueberry pancakes with compote. I was so so impressed and it was delicious.
Was in bed by 7 though lol.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 04/06/2020 21:08

@HerondaleDucks 😋 they look lovely, glad you had a nice day. Yes I'm a bit like that very early in bed all the time!! Infact more recently I've been early in bed because exhausted by a certain time and as soon as I'm in bed then I can't sleep! Very annoying!! X

Spark27 · 04/06/2020 21:09

Sounds like a lovely and yummy day @Herondaleducks.
I think a hot water bottle on your back would be absolutely fine. Hope it helps

FourPlasticRings · 04/06/2020 21:13

@HerondaleDucks hot water bottle should be fine, recent research has discredited the 'avoid hot baths' thing anyway. They don't get your body temperature hot enough to cause any problems, so a hot water bottle definitely won't! I've been having properly hot baths this whole pregnancy.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 04/06/2020 21:25

@FourPlasticRings oh I'm so glad it wasn't just me!! I started off measuring the temp when first found out pregnant but that didn't last long! 🙈 plus I didn't find out I was pregnant until 8 weeks so had already had 8 weeks of daily hot baths until then! X

BntTowers · 04/06/2020 21:44

@Happy belated birthday, I'm about to go and sit in bed with a heat pad on my back as it's hurting tonight.

I've had lots of lovely little wiggly feelings tonight, baby seems to have a little dance party at about this time in an evening.
