Yea it was that breast pump I was going for xx

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 13:43

@BooMamaBear I had the same one but don't remember it coming with a box. Then again, my memory is shot to pieces these days! A pump is something I'm going to buy again (may have melted the last one accidentally...) but I think I'm going to go with a double pump this time. I imagine it is possible to get an extra pump set for the Tippee because it does have two pipe hole things. Did you have the double or single?

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I had the whooping cough jab at my 20 week scan. Which was a surprise, but at least I didn't fret about it beforehand! My hospital seem to just offer to jab me whenever they happen to see me.

Treacle81 · 26/05/2020 13:47

I’m going for this. Someone selling it half price on Gumtree, brand new

BooMamaBear · 26/05/2020 13:50

@FourPlasticRings -I had the single if you go on tommee tippee online it does still come with the box mine is still in the box from last time I just need to find the electric bit! I will definitely buy a perfect Prep not til I finish breastfeeding tho to check baby will take bottles and formula DD took bottles fine and switched to formula then cows milk fine too! She used tommee tippee bottles well! The Prep makes sure any bacteria in the milk is killed, the milk is served at correct temp and takes less than 2 mins!! Xx

BooMamaBear · 26/05/2020 13:52

@Treacle81 -looks like the one i have I love it! Xx

Quiffy · 26/05/2020 15:41

@Treacle81 I think that one is half price in Tesco right now, just incase it's easier to get. £51 or so iirc so might be more.

I think my tolerance levels are at an all time low. Im really tired and trying to chop vegetables, dh decides to take over as I'm taking too long and he wants in where I am. All that's left is the onion. He tries to cut without peeling the brown off, I tell him to peel it. He takes one layer of brown off (leaving several layers of brown) and then tries to cut it from the wrong side. I have to take it off him as it turns out he's 33 and doesn't know how to peel an onion or cut it ffs. I was fine doing it myself before he butted in. Next he's taking washing out to hang outside, I ask him not to hang out the babygrow in it (was trying to get a stain out) as we live in a flat and I don't really want upstairs freaking out yet. He says he didn't put a babygrow in, I tell him there is as it was in basket and he threw full basket in wash so it must be. He's then on about how's he meant to know what a babygrow looks like - IT'S THE THING THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S FOR A TINY HUMAN. Arrrrgh. Sorry had to have a rant to someone before I murdered him 😭😂

Hope everyone else is having a less killer afternoon 🤣

NWnature · 26/05/2020 16:08

@quiffy ohhhh dear! Did make me laugh sounds a heck of a lot like my husband. He didn’t know to kick down the front of a hoover when we first met. I despair with them sometimes and also being pregnant I get genuinely concerned about survival post baby when our hands are full and a lot of the usual tasks (onion chopping etc! ) are left to them !! Haha!

Wishing you and @BntTowers so many good vibes for scan week and anyone else who is up.

I bought a Sleepyhead today as the fern print one I wanted cake back in stock on John Lewis. They seem to get good reviews although like anything online (especially baby stuff it seems) there are also some very strong opinions to the contrary.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the antenatal breastfeeding class, I’m going to look that up! I don’t think we want to do an online NCT I just find the idea a bit cringe and don’t think I will gel with people enough to meet up locally afterwards etc. I feel like I already have enough mates that me and the baby will be dashing around to see and I have lots of friends who are expecting too (albeit they don’t live near) but will be onside for late night WhatsApp’s etc.

We are both very clueless about the practicality of having a baby but I’m hoping that my hypnobirthing course with The Positive Birth co will educate us on the actual birth and then when we have the baby here, googling and family/ friend advice will tide us over? My sister in law is actually a midwife too so I can always ask her , it’s sort of a blessing and a curse. I love her dearly but obviously some stuff I want to work out on my own etc and she hasn’t actually had a baby herself.

Indigogirl88 · 26/05/2020 17:19

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I was asked to book mine at the doctors which I need to get round do doing

I've not felt much movement today so going to try and chill tonight and feel something to reassure me

Dp ordered the sling weve been looking at well actually it's a harness so goes from newborn to around 4 years old

I've ordered some grandparent scan frames as well but that's about it!

Spark27 · 26/05/2020 17:39

@Indigogirl88 I felt the same on monday and was wondering whether to call someone, but worried it was too early. I waited and fortunately shes been moving loads yesterday and today. Im 22w so worried it's too early to be tracking for regular stuff, but it's so difficult as they always say you know what's normal for you. In a few weeks I wouldn't have even questioned it, but would have called straight away.

I think if you're not happy then call them, it's what they always tell you to do xx

otterbaby · 26/05/2020 18:54

@Indigogirl88 I know all babies are different but I find if I lay still and drum my fingers on my lower tummy that seems to rouse her! Being woken up must annoy her sometimes because she'll go absolutely mental after. Fingers crossed you get some reassurance soon.

HerondaleDucks · 26/05/2020 19:12

Picking up a second hand icandy pram set tomorrow. I'm well excited. It's in really good condition and only £150. Feel on fire with all these bargains

Zaalfruit · 26/05/2020 19:30

Hey good evening seems like everyone is shopping . For some reason I have just lost all momentum to purchase or buy anything . But I’m making notes on what everyone is buying and recommending- is it really bad I don’t want to breast feed I know breast is best but my hearts not set on it and I feel like everyone will judge me if I don’t maybe once baby is here I will change my mind. I just don’t know why I feel like I’m not Bonding with the bump anymore even though I spent months ttc. Maybe lock down has gotten to me.

Called midwife today as since last night been feeling a really bad pain in my stomach they said to come in to their triage 2mrw - I hope it’s nothing. I don’t feel kicks either - but they said my baby sizing is quite small because I’m so petite it might feel like super small movements and I can’t tell. Hoping they reassure me 2mrw .

:)

BntTowers · 26/05/2020 20:30

@Zaalfruit fed is best. Feed you baby however you feel right to do so. I don't really feel bonded to the bump yet, but I'm not feeling much so you aren't alone. I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow and you don't have anymore pain tonight.

LexiM · 26/05/2020 20:32

@zaalfruit I think you’ve got to do what’s right for you with breastfeeding and if your mind isn’t into doing it then that’s fine but if you’re not 100% siren wait and see but go with what you want. I hope your check up tomorrow is all ok.

I shopped a few bits but have stopped until the scan now, plus waiting for pay day as despite not being able to go out I’ve still managed to spend a fortune this month on lots of smaller purchases.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I’ve got to book at the doctors but waiting until after my 20 week scan. Seems to vary some people are having it from 16 weeks, others 20 and others they say cant have it until got the all clear at 20 week scan so I’m waiting to be sure. I think it’s up to 32 weeks to have it so plenty of time.

@Quiffy sorry to hear your husband is annoying you, sounds similar to mine. Some of the things he says about baby clothes too I’m like oh you’ve got a lot to learn!

I’ve started the positive birth downloads - watching all the way through and then going to suggest some key ones to my husband to watch. Wouldn’t harm me to watch again! I’ve also got the Freya app which I listen to most nights before I sleep/I fall asleep to!

NWnature · 26/05/2020 20:38

@Zaalfruit definitely fed is best! You should do whatever suits you. I also don’t feel properly bonded to the bump yet, I think perhaps when regular movement starts it will happen. 💗

Ps thanks to whoever recommended Down Dog app it’s brilliant! And also @LexiM the Freya app for the MP3s! I’ve been listening to them via the Teachable app that I have the course on but you have to click each one so Freya will be much better 👌

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 20:43

@Zaalfruit I'm sure it's fine, but glad you're getting looked over. WRT feeding, maybe do your research into the pros and cons of each type and then just give it a bash when baby arrives if you feel up to it? The colostrum is the best bit anyway and there's nothing to lose by trying.

@Indigogirl88 under 24 weeks there's no real pattern for most people and the baby has so much room to move it can turn and face inwards so you don't feel the movements. I know how you feel though- I feel mine literally all the time now (didn't with DD, I presume I must have had an anterior placenta last time or something) and when I go half a day without feeling it I do get paranoid that something has gone wrong. At this stage if you did go in all they're likely to do is check for a heartbeat.

@NWnature hypnobirthing courses are a great idea- which one did you go with? I've got the natal hypnotherapy audio and books but stopped short of the actual course because of price. I am considering doing an online one though sometime soon. Also seriously considering a sleepyhead. Didn't last time owing to price but DD was an awful sleeper. Might wait and see if this one does OK and if not invest then.

@BooMamaBear it's really weird, I could swear mine cost less than £30 in TESCO and the box was much smaller than that- maybe they used to do a cheaper one without the box.

Good shout @quiffy. If I see any baby bargains I'll let you lot know.

Zaalfruit · 26/05/2020 21:15

Thanks everyone for the kinda words - my mum had pre and post natal depression when she had me and she told me that breastfeeding made her so sad and I don’t Know why I just don’t want the pattern to happen again.

Hoping they give me reassurance tomorrow everything is all good .

When I come on here it doesn’t cheer me up seeing everyone else’s comments .

Seems like a lot of dhs are just getting on the last nerve - I think it’s the lock down - we areNt having a lot of breathing space.

Did anyone have a scan today ? Or any upcoming scans ....

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 21:24

When I come on here it doesn’t cheer me up seeing everyone else’s comments

Sorry to hear that. Are you doing OK in general?

I'm past my scan but considering booking one for the third trimester if anyone has any recommendations for good private scan places? I used baby bond last time but it's closed now.

Zaalfruit · 26/05/2020 21:45

I dunno what is wrong with me lol I need to spell check ! Meant to say ;;

When I come on here it does cheer me up seeing everyone else’s comments.

But no I think 2’mrw I will mention feeling really sad constantly about it all . I want this baby trust 2 years it taken us to get here . Multiple holidays to cheer me up , millions of tears - flights to random places for a weekend away - poor dh tried so hard -and now I’m sad again.

LostinAusten2 · 26/05/2020 22:01

Hey @Zaalfruit - lots of folk in my family have depression too so just take it easy, I know it sounds silly but I think being kind to yourself can help. We’re trying to have babies during a global pandemic with Boris as PM - we’re doing really well 🥳

And if it helps ease worries on the breast-feeding, my mum brought up me and 5 siblings on nothing but formula and then Tesco value chicken nuggets and we’ve all turned out amazing (well, some of us are a bit odd 😄) but like @NWnature said - fed is definitely best - we have enough to worry about ❤️

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 22:41

But no I think 2’mrw I will mention feeling really sad constantly about it all

That's a very good idea. There's all sorts of support you can get. Pregnancy hormones are tough at the best of times- I really struggled last pregnancy- but during lockdown it's that much harder. x

BooMamaBear · 26/05/2020 23:01

@Zaalfruit -I'm really sorry you're feeling the way younger hun -I think it really hard no one is used to being in this lockdown situation that coupled with pregnancy hormones makes it really hard especially when you can't see family and friends but yes I think talking to someone would be a good idea!

My next scan isn't til 4 weeks today til 26 ?weeks!

@Spark27 and @Indigogirl88 - I totally feel the same -I usually get kicks every morning and night and although I felt the first kick at 17w they didn't gets as frequent til 19w I've not had it yet but I know if she didn't kick me in a morning and night I would totally panic even though I know you don't need to track movement til 24 weeks it's so hard not to worry!! Xx

Indigogirl88 · 27/05/2020 01:41

@zaalfruit I feel for what you're going through, its definitely not easy at the moment and it's hard not to beat yourself up with feelings. I hope tomorrow goes well and it's good to open up to them

Thank you for all your support ladies today, I hardly felt a thing until this evening and just a few little flutters I think again. But I do think I've felt something so that's reassuring!

Treaclepie19 · 27/05/2020 07:49

So sorry you're feeling low @Zaalfruit Flowers

I'm feeling very similar. I'm a very social and busy person and not seeing friends or being able to take my 4yo anywhere is getting to me now. It's like groundhog day.

It’s totally understandable to be feeling down @Zaalfruit definitely mention to the midwife and take it easy! Pregnancy is crazy in normal time’s let alone through a blinking pandemic! 💗
