@Treacle81 -cute bump
@LexiM I love is when you can see them kick this one kicks a lot (only when I'm in bed tho)! I can feel her kick from the inside and and we can both (me and DH) feel it from the outside but we've only seen her kick a few times when she kicks hard!
@FourPlasticRings - it proper goes through me I know you don't feel it pop but it just feels weird coz it goes all like stretchy before hand!! Xx

Treacle81 · 25/05/2020 13:01

Thanks girls, yea that’s me bought pram, snuzpod3 with sleep aid, changing mat, nappies, clothes to cover 0-3 mths, bottles (self sterilising), blankets, grobags,Muslin cloths, socks, vests. Just need bouncer, bath, thermometer, night light, (might get the groegg as be 2 in 1) and a breast pump. Oh online4baby selling gorgeous wedge changing mats £40 off, they look v comfy- just ordered grey stars to go with everything else as my theme is grey white and either sage or mustard xx

BooMamaBear · 25/05/2020 15:31

Don't know where sells them now Mothercare is shut but sock-ons are great -they're elasticated and go over socks as babies never manage to keep socks on their feet so these keep them on -you can get them in white, pink or blue!! Xxx

otterbaby · 25/05/2020 15:32

Has anyone heard of the NoseFrida?

frida.com/products/nosefrida

Intrigued but also scared 😂

Spark27 · 25/05/2020 16:11

We got a nasal aspirator in a baby grooming set we bought before having DD (maybe Tomy Tippee?) @otterbaby. We never used it. Seemed a bit weird to me, and fortunately we didnt need too. Think the only think we really used out of it, and still do it's the nail clippers. No idea how babies nails grow so quickly. Shes like Wolverine

I got sock ons for DD @BooMamaBear and she never kept them on either. I'd turn my back for 2 mins and they'd have worked their way off. No idea how she managed it. My mummy mates were always very surprised. Still got them so hoping they work for the next one

BooMamaBear · 25/05/2020 16:29

@Spark27 -we had the tommee tippee grooming set too we used the nail clippers, comb and toothbrush -didn't really ever need to use the nasal aspirator either when DD had a really bad cold doctors told us to get saline nasal spray and baby olbas or the calpol vapour plug they worked great!! Xx

FourPlasticRings · 25/05/2020 17:19

I plan to just keep mine in onesies all the time- no need to faff around with socks. The beauty of an October baby is hopefully it shouldn't be too hot for them.

HerondaleDucks · 25/05/2020 20:24

Sale on at dunelm got baby bedding and cute sleep bags, muslins and hooded towels etc. For a bargain.

LexiM · 25/05/2020 20:32

Looking good @treacle18 and sounds like you’ve brought some of the more exciting items I can’t wait to get!

Interesting reading all your thoughts on what you used from the grooming/health kit. I was wondering whether it was worth getting one.

@herondaleducks sounds like you got some good bargains there!

NWnature · 25/05/2020 21:15

Such good shopping! I’m still being a bit wimpy with committing to stuff. I bought a sleeping bag, swaddle and muslin today hahaha starting off small! Hope everyone has enjoyed the long weekend.

NWnature · 25/05/2020 21:17

What are self sterilising bottles? I’m hoping to breastfeed but want to express and use bottles too to give a bit of flexibility.

Treacle81 · 25/05/2020 23:13

@NWnature I’m planning the same but to save getting steriliser I got MAM bottles that you fill with water n pop in microwave to sterilise. Much easier - heard great reports about them xx

Indigogirl88 · 26/05/2020 08:20

I've been looking into breastfeeding @NWnature just watched a few youtube videos at this stage so I feel pretty prepared already. I think I'll get bottles anyway just in case, I'll definitely try expressing in any case. I've seen them MAM bottles such a good idea!

Quiffy · 26/05/2020 09:35

Loving all the shopping, I feel like I still have lots to get - rather than just pretty clothes. Will need to make a list. Holding off until Thursday though as pre-scan nerves have hit bad.

Anyone else got scans this week?

Treaclepie19 · 26/05/2020 10:21

I've got everything still to get. Waiting til after my scan which is Monday!! So close now.
We used mam bottles last time, they're brilliant. I'm going to prepare to formula feed but see how we go. After last time I won't be putting major pressure on myself to breastfeed but will definitely have a go and maybe baby will take to it easier.

(Last time was an NICU stay and he just wasn't awake enough to feed. He got used to tube feeding and bottle feeding)

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 10:29

@Treacle81 if you're planning to feed breastmilk from a bottle you are still likely to need a steriliser for the pump bit and all the attachments. They're not expensive though- you can just get a microwave one which is like a Tupperware box with a hole in the lid.

I've just got to get the boring stuff- lasinoh, maternity pads, nappies etc.- but I'm leaving that until later on. Might start buying from 32 weeksish.

LexiM · 26/05/2020 10:31

My scan is Monday too, finally less than a week to go!! 😂

@Quiffy hope your scan goes well this week.

I’ve got a couple of Mam bottles coming but I’m not getting anymore than that at this stage as I also plan to breastfeed. I have heard some babies just don’t like certain makes of bottle so i guess it’s worth trying them out before I buy lots of them.

I’ve signed up to the Blossom antenatal breastfeeding online class which I’m doing in a week or so. Just want to slowly learn some bits as I have no idea. I’m taking advantage while all these companies are kindly doing free online sessions.

BntTowers · 26/05/2020 10:37

I have my scan on Friday, the pre scan nerves have hot me already. Past few nights I've not been able to sleep. I started work 20 minutes early today with the idea that I can have a nap at some point. I think I need it already. The rest of my team seem to be not working today and haven't told me...

I have a few things that I am going to order on Friday after the scan. Waiting until then to start buying.

FourPlasticRings · 26/05/2020 10:49

@LexiM it's a great idea to do the online classes- I suppose free classes are one of the hidden advantages of the current situation!

I got free ultrasound pics and that's the only monetary advantage so far... Anyone else?

Treacle81 · 26/05/2020 11:00

@FourPlasticRings yea just need to wait n see, hearing that expressing isn’t always easy, might combo feed, not sure yet. I’m waiting till like 32 weeks to get maternity pads, breast pads etc. @LexiM oh I’ll need to look out for these classes! Also fancy looking at the Positive Birth Company. Not long now! @Quiffy xx

Spark27 · 26/05/2020 12:11

@Treaclepie19 we were the same last time. Baby went into SCBU and the breast feeding never really took. Fortunately in was able to express loads so she had that for the first 3 months and then we moved onto formula. I'm planning on expressing for at least a month (hopefully more, but depends on time, may mix some formula feeds in too to limit time pressures) and then formula. But you never know, this one might take to breast feeding easily

Treaclepie19 · 26/05/2020 12:24

@Spark27 sorry to hear that, it makes for a rough start doesn't it.
I expressed for a few weeks and gave up so you're a superhero in my eyes!

For those of you who have whooping cough vaccine or have it booked in? Where are you having it is it hospital or doctors? Did you have to call to arrange this yourself? Need to get mine but don't know where or when meant to have it xxx

BooMamaBear · 26/05/2020 13:27

The tommee tippee electric breast pump comes with a microwaveable steriliser box it is like a Tupperware with a steam hole in the top! Xx

BooMamaBear · 26/05/2020 13:34

I love the tommee tippee pump I found it comfy and easy and expressed two big bottles per boob at a time! I exclusively breast fed for 6 months but expressed for some night feeds or hospital appointments as I had retained product and she was so hungry she fed every 2 hours!
Got my whooping cough Jab tomorrow with the nurse at my GP's -I'll be 20+3 - I didn't have to arrange my own as the surgery called me to book me in!
