Awww thank you everyone!!!
And what wonderful scans!! I can't quite believe we've reached the first scan stage!!

Aww @Nic2908 a boy!!! How wonderful!! 💙
DH is hoping for a boy, current gut feeling says h boy as well (based on nothing) which probably means it's a girl! 😂

I told my boss yesterday and I think we're telling the in-laws and some friends over the weekend.

Natt99 · 04/06/2020 07:52

Aww congratulations @Nic2908 glad everything was good with the test xx

calipoppy · 04/06/2020 07:54

@nic2908 congratulations and how exciting to know the gender already!! We're planning to keep ours a surprise but I feel so excited hearing your news now I'm not so sure!

@djmbaker oh poor you sounds horrendous! I ate one mouthful of cereal and threw it straight back up this morning, really hope this pesky sickness disappears for good soon!

Has anyone started thinking about cots/prams etc? I've started doing some research but it's overwhelming how many options there are!

Katbaby · 04/06/2020 08:08

Morning girls,
Loving seeing all the 12 week scans arriving now! 12 days and counting to mine haha!

@djmbaker hahah! It's the worst when it comes on out and about! I started dry retching in tesco the other day! Not my finest hour thank god I had nothing to actually throw up otherwise I would of had to use my bag for life hahaa.

@Nic2908 a boy 💙💙 amazing! It's amazing you can know even before 12 weeks how lovely. I have a gut feeling I'm having a boy too! I even dreamt I gave birth the other night and it was a boy in the dream... Maybe means it's a girl haha! Oh well, only 6 months til I find out ❤️

@calipoppy I've been advised by my SIL that you have to test drive prams! She's had 5 babies so 5 different prams and she said the difference can be unreal! I definitely trust her judgement she's a professional mama! Haha

@Aristotle19 personally I want an over the shoulder type bag, but my sister has that type you asked about and said it's brilliant, looks like a good one to me.

@calipoppy yes I already have my pram on preorder 😂 I've known which one I want for a few months as soon as it came out I've gone for the silver cross pioneer special edition in eclipse. I'm not sure about Moses basket yet, I don't want a next to me as my niece was so clingy due to it, I've seen a gorgeous Noah pod I think I will get xx

december2020 · 04/06/2020 08:23

Pram-wise, I really want to "test drive" them first before picking (but we'll see if that is allowed by the time it goes to crunch time). But at the moment at least trying to short list as there is sooooo much out there!

Has anyone lost weight?
I mean I was carrying maybe 5-10lbs extra weight pre-pregnancy (I blame Christmas and the cold), but seem to have lost 3lbs since pregnancy 🤷‍♀️
I haven't been throwing up and have been eating regularly so it's definitely not that.
Yet I can still feel my clothes getting tighter 😶
What is happening?!

calipoppy · 04/06/2020 08:39

@katbaby wow you're so lucky to have SIL with so much experience to ask questions!! Haha test driving prams I never would have thought of, I already feel like some of the websites are like car websites now test driving next they'll need MOTs 😂

@rnic1x just googled the silver cross, looks lovely, good choice 👌 think I might do some serious research this weekend!

Interesting about the next to me making your niece more clingy as I'd heard good things about them but maybe worth looking into more first!

Rnic1x · 04/06/2020 08:48

@calipoppy yes I have too but then when I thought about it the closer the baby is to you the more clingy they will be, she's 10 months old now and she's only just starting to be better, she used to scream the room down if my sister went out 🙈 I'll try my best not to have one like that she couldn't even go to the toliet without taking her too 😂 xx

ceebee21 · 04/06/2020 09:46

@december2020 me!

not sure what is happening, I haven't had any sickness, exercising less than normal and probably eating worse. Very strange!

emmalily9 · 04/06/2020 09:53

@ceebee21 @december2020 I haven't lost weight but I haven't put any on either! I'm happy with that though as I read a good weight gain in first trimester was 1-2kg. Really hoping I don't put on more than necessary as time goes on. Spent 4 years losing weight to then fall pregnant 😂

Bumble84 · 04/06/2020 10:42

Morning, I can’t even look at prams etc until after my scan. I’d definitely want to test drive them though. I’m hoping that by then we can go to John Lewis and have a look at them. I’ll definitely be getting a travel system though, easier for in and out the car etc in the early days.

I’ve put on a couple of pounds but actually I think that’s more to do with being in the house all the time than being pregnant. I’ve read that for a woman with normal BMI it is normal to put on 25-35lbs during pregnancy which seemed a lot but it was broken down into baby, placenta, blood volume, fat stores for milk, amniotic fluid etc. I’m hoping not to put on too much excess weight, I have real issues about my weight having been a fat kid and getting bullied a bit so I’m just trying to keep telling myself that I have to nourish my body to grow a baby and be grateful that my body is doing this for me. Some days it works and some days it doesn’t!

djmbaker · 04/06/2020 11:18

Sorry I'm not being rude and ignoring everyone's posts... but I just need some advice.. I've had my dating scan changed from next Friday the 12th to Wednesday 10th now.. but I'm not 12 weeks until Sunday 14th! So will it still be ok?? Or is it too early??
I think it's because my midwife won't accept the date from my private scans so she's left it as "the norm" meaning I'm 12 weeks now.. which I'm not.. I don't want to go and be told I have to go back for the tests as I'm too early!
Am I being a control freak??? Am I stressing for no reason? It just seems too early.

Also.. Because of you all I'm now looking at prams 😂😂

december2020 · 04/06/2020 11:31

@djmbaker the midwife at my booking in appointment told me they just go by LMP till the 12 week scan, but my understanding from the NHS site is they do the 12 week scan anytime between 11-14 weeks or something, and I think if anything is unclear or the baby is too small, you get a second appointment (as it just needs to be a certain size to do all the tests).
I went in at 11+1 according to my dates (which was 11+3 according to the early scan) for the 12 week scan. They dated me yesterday at 12+1 - a whole week ahead! Not possible based on the dates we had sex 😬 so I think just a growth spurt, so probably more like halfway/end of 11 weeks for me.

december2020 · 04/06/2020 11:36

@djmbaker but the point was trying to say was I think it's more to do with the size of the baby than your exact dates when you go in. 😊

djmbaker · 04/06/2020 11:40

@december2020 okay! Thankyou. I have the most anxiety about the 12 week scan after last year so i think I have just worked myself up and convinced myself it should be at specific time you know? I just want to be told everything is ok.
Obviously they know more than me but some times that level of practicality in the mind doesn't come forward when it's happening to you does it?
Thankyou xxx

december2020 · 04/06/2020 11:54

@djmbaker No I totally hear you!! I went in thinking well I'm only 11+1, pushing it at 11+3 so there is almost no chance they can do the NT tests etc. And that this would all be a waste of time for everyone unless it was bad news (it took us about 12 months to get pregnant and the GP was saying they would refer us to a fertility clinic before covid happened, so now I was thinking that my PCOS and the hormone imbalances could have an impact with the baby's development - so each "milestone" has been a little scary for me).

But it seemed they were ok as the baby was big enough and they could do all their checks and everything turned out ok. So definitely finally feeling a little more relaxed about this all. Xxx

calipoppy · 04/06/2020 11:58

@djmbaker at my dating scan I knew I was only just over 11 weeks, but similar to december2020 I was being dated by my midwife from the day of my MC which she classed as LMP, the sonographer said quite quickly the baby was too small to take measurements so she said I needed to reschedule (which I have on Monday). But she was very sympathetic to my circumstances and the extra worry I felt after MC so even though she couldn't do the measurements she let me see the baby for several minutes and reassured me that everything was fine.
So it might be worth making them aware when you go in and hopefully they'll do similar for you if needed 😊

djmbaker · 04/06/2020 12:10

@december2020 that's it, 💯.. I just think what a waste of time if I'm too early and they say I have to go back.
I need to take the emotion out of the hospital scans I know.. but having a MMC diagnosed at your 12 week scan is probably going to do that to you.

But... we shall see won't we!
At least on Sunday I have my private scan so my partner is with me and we can make sure everything is ok together and then the hospital one is only a few days after. So I probably won't feel so stressed going alone.

@calipoppy yes hopefully. I've even had an early scan at the beginning with the hospital where they measured me 6 weeks so my LMP means nothing 😂😂 but they have to follow their guidelines don't they. Thankyou for replying 🙏🏻 feels like these 12 weeks are never going to end xx

Natt99 · 04/06/2020 12:42

Hey @djmbaker sorry you're worried. Great advice from the other girls.
Just wanted to add that sometimes the baby catches up in days if that makes sense. At my first private scan at 6 weeks it was 4 days behind my estimated dates but at the second one at 10 weeks, it was only 1 day behind. So somehow it aged 3 days so you might be ok.
Totally understand where you're coming from though but I guess they have to officially go with LMP. My midwife also wasn't interested in any dates from the scans x

djmbaker · 04/06/2020 13:31

@Natt99 Thankyou for replying. You just want to get out the 12 weeks don't you 😂 I know my sister said her due date changed 4 times during the 12 weeks so I know it's normal xx

calpolatdawn · 04/06/2020 14:19

Its my scan tomorrow im a bit nervous, i just hope it goes ok. how is everyone?

Bumble84 · 04/06/2020 14:27

@calpolatdawn I’m the same, I don’t have mine till 17th. It’s normal to be anxious, I’m just trying to remain positive!

Natt99 · 04/06/2020 16:02

Can't wait until my scan, will be so relieved if everything's ok!
Tomorrow I have my annual performance review with my boss where I get to know my pay rise and make plans for this new year (companies year runs from May)...Feel a bit deceitful making all these plans when I'm not going to be around to see them through but think it's best not to tell him in case things aren't ok at the scan. Haven't even told most of my family yet 😂
