My anomaly scan today was basically good. Everything looked normal and healthy apart from couldn’t get proper view of all parts of the heart so baby has ???VSD (hole in the septum). Most likely it is fine, but I have been referred for repeat scan and fetal echo at the fetal medicine unit next week. Hopefully will get clearer views and know what we are facing then. I still found it all very reassuring as I think VSD is a pretty minor heart abnormality and often resolves spontaneously.

MysteriousSheep · 02/07/2020 21:30

Also, I found out it’s a boy!

Knotemma · 02/07/2020 22:05

@MysteriousSheep pleased that overall you've had a positive scan, congratulations on your baby boy. Fingers crossed that the issue they've found is minor and just puts itself right. I think sometimes it's easy for us to forget that these babies are literally growing and forming inside us, so sometimes things might not be quite 100% yet. Pleased that it's been picked up so that you can get the proper care and extra monitoring xx

AnxiousLady1 · 03/07/2020 07:26

@MysteriousSheep Congrats on your baby boy! I did a little reading on the heart condition you mentioned, and like you said, it can correct itself and is generally considered a minor issue. Good that they picked it up already and you will get some extra monitoring.

I've my anomaly scan this morning. Finally. At 21+5. Absolutely petrified again.

Knotemma · 03/07/2020 07:53

@AnxiousLady1 good luck for today. Take your time, make sure that you have something to do in the waiting room (book, craft etc) in case you have a bit of a wait. You've totally got this and you're going to see your baby today! Let us know how it goes, I'm looking forward to seeing another scan picture later xx

SammiLou2312 · 03/07/2020 08:36

@AnxiousLady1 good luck today xx

MysteriousSheep · 03/07/2020 09:22

Thanks @Knotemma and @AnxiousLady1.
Best of luck for your scan today AnxiousLady1 - hope everything goes well and you enjoy seeing your baby. I feel like after the scan I can now feel more movements and it somehow seems more ‘real’.

Whiffle77 · 03/07/2020 10:23

Great news @MysteriousSheep congratulations on your boy! At least they have caught the issue early so that you can be monitored, will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Good luck today @AnxiousLady1 I hope everything goes well and you aren't waiting too long! Scanxiety is normal but I hope you have a really lovely experience.

AnxiousLady1 · 03/07/2020 10:41

Thanks all!

Scan went well. Everything looked normal, which is a relief.

Another one for the baby boy group! Over the moon!

Knotemma · 03/07/2020 10:58

@AnxiousLady1 that's fab news congratulations on your baby boy! Pleased everything went well for you and hopefully the scan will help ease the anxiety for a little while at least xx

footprintsintheslow · 03/07/2020 11:31

Wonderful news @AnxiousLady1 what a relief. 💙💙💙

Whiffle77 · 03/07/2020 11:43

Great news, so pleased for you!! Congratulations!

SunStruck · 03/07/2020 13:53

@AnxiousLady1 welcome to the baby boy group!!! Congratulations on a good scan! 😍

How's everyone's nurseries (or in my case nursery corner) coming along? I've bought all the things for it, DH needs to build it in 2 weeks time and then I can start decorating! I'm excited 🤩 I've picked up lots of little bargains here and there, and have found some wall art I loved that I got from Etsy (just the digital print), and had a photo shop print it up... found the exact color frames I wanted for it at Ikea of all places where the frames were 2.5 quid each! We're also moving into the room we have used as a guest room because that's en-suite, and we're building the nursery corner there. I've bought lots of stuff today for us too (not the baby) to decorate the room to sort of go with the nursery corner (we've chosen very neutral colors for the nursery so it looks fine together). I can't wait for it all to come together!

Haha this MUST be the nesting itch I've heard pregnant women get! 🤣

Anon20something · 03/07/2020 22:53

Caved in to anxiety tonight, just couldn’t shake the fear. Been feeling like baby boy wasn’t moving as strongly as the other day and it was driving me mad! We’re at the same week of pregnancy where things started going wrong with lily and I had to stay over night in hospital for investigations, so I think that’s been on my mind. Anyways, had a total panic attack and rang them, they told me to go straight in. They were do lovely, calmed me down (heart rate was sky sky and I couldn’t breathe!) and monitored me for an hour just to be sure. Even gave me a cuddle! Baby boy is absolutely fine and moving, he’s just gone head down and dropped into my pelvis so I can’t feel those big movements as much! Feel so so much better for going, and couldn’t fault them at all. Hope you are all good, and please don’t feel scared to go in and get checked if you’re worried - they were so understanding! Xxx

Knotemma · 03/07/2020 23:08

@Anon20something sorry to hear that you've had a rough time with anxiety, but glad that you got checked out and all is well. Hopefully you can get some rest, have a nice quiet weekend and recharge a little bit, because these things are exhausting. Take care of yourself x

MOGMOGMOG85 · 03/07/2020 23:44

Congratulations to those of you whose anomaly scans went well xx

I have just been doing a bit of late night googling and realised I'm supposed to be taking vitamin D?! I knew bout folic acid but thought that was only up until 12 weeks so I haven't been taking any vitamins regularly since then (I had been taking a multivitamin including Vit D until then). I will start again tomorrow, but worrying now :(

Knotemma · 03/07/2020 23:53

@MOGMOGMOG85 they recommend to take vitamin D between October and March in the UK, because that's when we're least likely to get enough. As long as your managing a bit of outdoor time you'll be fine 😊

Anon20something · 04/07/2020 00:02

@Knotemma thank you. I knew I wouldn’t be able to settle all weekend unless I went. Just wanted to share because I’d hate anyone else to be sitting worrying about going!

I thought reaching 28 weeks would calm me down, but it’s just all getting very real and that’s scaring me more!

futuredreams · 04/07/2020 10:17

@MOGMOGMOG85. I actually found out I had a vitamin d deficiency at my recurrent miscarriage consultant appointment. Which apparently is a pattern for women who have had losses. So my consultant fixed it before pregnancy with a loading dose and then has had me on a smaller dose of Vitimin d throughout. They are actually saying with Covid and people not getting out as much that we could all be taking it. It won't do any harm if you want to take a small over the counter dose of it. It is recommended in pregnancy. I'm on a multi vit that gives me 10mg I think then I take an additional 10 ml on top. 😊👍

futuredreams · 04/07/2020 10:19

But as @knotemma says if your out in the day you will be getting enough ☺️

MOGMOGMOG85 · 04/07/2020 10:32

Thanks @Knotemma and @futuredreams - I go out for a walk most days and am fair so I expect I'm ok, although I am vegan so don't eat eggs or fish. I have been taking a multivitamin with 30ml Vit D for 2 1/2 years religiously until about 11 1/2 weeks during this pregnancy when I rejoiced at the thought of not having to take the horrible things any more! So I'm sure I'll be fine. I also work as a gardener (although have also been on furlough now since week 14) so I'm sure my body has enough! I'll start taking the dreaded multivits again today and maybe look at ordering some smaller and easier to swallow Vit D pills as well so I don't have to take the multivits every day (I can't swallow them so I crunch them up and down with orange juice, its so grim!) xxx

On a positive note 15 0-1 and 0-3 months sleep suits arrived today in the post which I bought second hand on Facebook marketplace for £30 including postage. And they're GORGEOUS! I'm so impatient to put a baby in them now :-/

Knotemma · 04/07/2020 10:59

@MOGMOGMOG85 most supermarkets will have a vitamin D supplement on its own that is tiny. Alternatively you could look at the kids multi-vitamins that are either designed to crunch or are chewy! My midwife suggested the Flintstones ones to me when my morning sickness was bad 😂. Just make sure they don't have vitamin a/retinol in them.

Great news on the sleep suits, Ive come off Facebook but do miss rummaging on the marketplace!

AnxiousLady1 · 04/07/2020 11:04

I need to start buying some baby things!! I've not got a single thing yet. Yesterday I treated myself to a pair of dungarees from Seraphine and a pregnancy pillow. I'd held off on buying those until after scan was out of the way.

futuredreams · 04/07/2020 11:17

@MOGMOGMOG85. I find them hateful to! So big. But I've just got used to it. But still dread it every day. You can get multi vit like pregnicare in liquid form. My friend suggested it to me when I struggled with the pills.
