@SammiLou2312 it was my DH birthday yesterday, so I took a few days off, I'm definitely glad I won't be stuck in our home office, with two computers on its often the hottest room in the house

Oh @Knotemma I am very very jealous, that sounds so good! Enjoy your time off. I too am sweating away wfh, its so hot! Sounds like it is on the turn after today though so shouldn't complain and should just enjoy it!

Shefliesonherownwings · 25/06/2020 10:14

Ladies can I very highly recommend an air conditioning unit, it has been my life saver this week. We live in a very hot house, mid terrace too. It's great during winter when we rarely need the heating on but a nightmare even at 20 degrees. I also suffer with hot feet a lot and in the summer they feel like they are on fire, actually painful.

Enter the air con! It is a beast and a pain moving up and down the stairs and we actually bought it as a de humidifier to dry out our ceilings when our roof leaked during those storms in February. But DH has been angling for one for years so he bought a combo one. If anyone is in Herts feel free to pop round for a blast.

I know we are very lucky to have this so am in no way trying to be smug, hope it hasn't come across like that!

Anon20something · 25/06/2020 12:21

@Shefliesonherownwings I may be a little jealous haha! We live in a mid terrace too and it is BOILING 😂 I forgot how hard it is being so pregnant in heat! And nothing fits me so I’m currently working from home in my pants and bump is out! He seems to like the sunshine though and has been having a good kick about which is amazing but deffo making me feel more uncomfortable!

Hagster · 25/06/2020 15:36

Moral dilemma here ladies. After reaching 24 weeks and viability 🥳 I treated myself to two dresses from Seraphine maternity in the sale (seriously good deals, go check it out), but they sent both dresses twice, so I now have four dresses. I love both of the ones I bought, so have no intention to return them. What do I do with the spares?! I've already tried giving them to my only other pregnant friend but she doesn't want them as she doesn't wear dresses. If there are any size 14 ladies out there I'm happy to post them to you as a little gift! (both are black, patterned, midi wrap dresses)

OR, do I...

A) Return the spares but ask for my money back and effectively get the ones I've kept for free
B) Keep all four dresses for myself because being pregnant in lockdown over summer is hard and having to do laundry less frequently is nice (and because it involves no effort of postage/speaking to people)
C) Be honest and tell Seraphine they made a mistake and just return the spares and not get any money back

Hagster · 25/06/2020 15:49

Sorry I appreciate that is a bit off-topic, I just don't know what to do!!

Knotemma · 25/06/2020 16:01

@Hagster honestly if they're comfy I'd keep them! I have so few clothes that fit Im just requesting the same 5 or 6 things... If it wasn't for those daft hareem pant suits I bought back in march I'd spend half my time in a nighty! I will however be having a look on seraphine maternity!

Whiffle77 · 25/06/2020 16:16

I def wouldn't do a I dont think...if they are comfy I would be inclined to keep them all (much as I would like to say I will have them) but it depends if keeping them will stress you out or not? No point if it will Smile

Treaclepie19 · 25/06/2020 16:38

I'm a worrywart about it so I'd contact them. I've done it in the past and places normally say to keep it anyway. Sure I'm the odd one out though, its most likely my anxiety.

didslysquiddlydoo · 25/06/2020 16:42

I'd keep them 🙈

AnxiousLady1 · 25/06/2020 17:01

I'm same as @Treaclepie19. Been in that scenario a couple of times and always told to keep additional items rather than send back. But I've got the Irish Catholic guilt from my mother 😂 My DH thinks it's hilarious and there have been occasions in the past where he hasn't told me about soemthing not being charged on a bill until we are well clear of a restaurant in case I go back and try to pay it. But I'm definitely an exception there. It's not your fault you were sent the extra items 🤷‍♀️

Sakura54 · 25/06/2020 17:03

Hi all! I’ve just got my BFP this morning, due 1st March. Didn’t expect it to happen straightaway as I had a MMC recently at 13 weeks (baby stopped at 7), so tentatively joining you all. Petrified of another MC. I have come from the penguin huddle sister thread on the conception board.

AnxiousLady1 · 25/06/2020 17:23

@Sakura54 Welcome!! Gentle congratulations on your BFP. I recognise your name from the November thread. I had a MMC on my last pregnancy, so I totally understand the worry you will be feeling at the moment. Sending you lots of positive vibes. This is a great supportive group, so come on here to vent any time you're feeling worried. xx

Hagster · 25/06/2020 18:15

Welcome @Sakura54, gentle congratulations, you're very welcome here and I hope we can be a source of support.

Thanks for the advice on the dresses ladies, I am still torn but it's nice to know that I hopefully won't be judged either way! I wasn't raised Catholic but do have a bit of that guilt anyway - must have been passed down from my Irish Catholic gran somehow 🤣

Sakura54 · 26/06/2020 11:41

Thanks both. Do I just add myself to the list? Might be a bit early though lol.

@AnxiousLady1 hi, it's so good that you've made it this far! Another 4 months to go. How’s it been for you?

Yes, I left such a depressing post when I left lol, thought I had made it past the first trimester. It was only 2 months ago you know, but feels like it's been ages. I didn’t expect to even ovulate straightaway, let alone this! I had stopped folic acid after I hit 12 weeks and was going to start again after getting my 2nd AF, but it never came!

AnxiousLady1 · 26/06/2020 12:08

@Sakura54 Yes you can add yourself to the list whenever you feel ready, by just copying and pasting it into your next post and adding your name and due date 👍 I have my scan next week at 21+5 so I am still quite nervy until I get that out of the way. It's only my second pregnancy and first obviously ended in MMC, so can be hard to not let doubt niggle at me from time to time. I've found this group really brilliant and supportive. There's actually a couple others on here from the Nov thread as well. How have you been since leaving that thread? It's great that you've got a BFP again so soon after. I worried how women were expected to cope in circumstances of MMC with all of the current restrictions in place and limited options available to them. xx

futuredreams · 26/06/2020 16:35

I had my anomaly scan ☺️ everything looked great. I'm feeling her kick me a lot these days which is also amazing.
I do have a low lying placenta which I need extra scans to monitor though if anyone has any insight into that?

SammiLou2312 · 26/06/2020 17:40

@Sakura54 welcome to the group! Gentle congratulations and sticky bean vibes being sent your way x

@futuredreams congrats on the positive scan. I can't comment on the low lying placenta (I didn't get told my placenta position so presumed it is normal?) But I'm sure there will be someone on here with knowledge. If not maybe check the NHS website there's bound to be info on there xx

Knotemma · 26/06/2020 18:22

@futuredreams I'm glad your scan went well. I don't have a low lying placenta, but have read up on it. Apparently it is pretty common that it resolves itself because the placenta tends to move up as the uterus stretches (think drawing a dot on a balloon and the blowing it up). Normal course of action tends to be watch and wait to check that it moves clear of the cervix. If it doesn't move it would potentially mean a c section, but totally depends on how low and if it covers the cervix. Everything I've read suggests it's nothing to worry about

didslysquiddlydoo · 26/06/2020 18:23

@futuredreams yay congratulations on the positive scan - it's such a relief isn't it?!
I also have a low lying placenta and need an extra scan - they said that 90% of the time the placenta moves up as the baby gets bigger and it's generally nothing to worry about!
If in rare circumstances it stays low it will mean they'd probably look at a planned c-section instead, but again reiterated in most cases it does move, hence the second scan to check! Xx

Shefliesonherownwings · 27/06/2020 14:33

Ladies I'm having a bit of a wobble today. I'm 20 weeks, 21 on Monday and have been feeling some movements since 17 weeks. Not particularly strong but definitely movements. I know it's too early for there to be consistency but today there have definitely been less movements than previous days so now I'm worrying about something going wrong.

I have felt a few movements today but as I say definitely less. I know baby is probably in a different position and it is early but I'm getting myself worked up now. I've just come for a lie down with a cold drink to see if that helps but I'm wondering whether to ring the hospital and see if they'll let me come in for reassurance. I only had a scan on Wednesday and everything was good and I don't want to be a nuisance to anyone but I'm getting really worried. Any advice?

Knotemma · 27/06/2020 14:58

@Shefliesonherownwings just call them, tell them that you've had consistent movement for several weeks and have since a drop today they should invite you in to get checked out. The midwife told me about 7 times at my last appointment that if movements change you get checked (it was the first time I'd met this midwife) . Its probably like you say baby has moved round but it's not worth being stressed, just get checked! You're not wasting anyone's time, that's part of why the units exist. Sending you a virtual hug and lots of positive thoughts xx

didslysquiddlydoo · 27/06/2020 15:03

@Shefliesonherownwings I experienced this around 24 weeks - had been feeling pretty consistent movement and then for about three days the movements felt so much less - I got mused into such a panic over it! I contacted my midwife and she said baby would just be in a different position cos they're still so small, but if I was really worried I could pop over and she would check with the Doppler to reassure me. Sure enough after the three-ish days of feeling significantly less movement, little one must have repositioned again and I've felt her more consistently again since then.

Essentially, I'm pretty sure everything is absolutely fine but totally understand the worry - contact your midwife for some reassurance - I'm sure little one is wriggling away in there, just nicely nestled in a new position for now! Xxx
