@Avocuddles the only change to meds is doubled my omeprazole so fingers crossed that helps!!

Growth scan today at 30+5! All measurements average size.

Knotemma · 16/06/2020 21:01

Aww @Rachael321 that's a brilliant profile photo! Glad to here little one is cooking nicely x

Ranoutofgoodnames · 17/06/2020 02:00

Hello ladies. Driving myself a bit mad over here. I have no pregnancy symptoms. Had a second blood test on Monday and that showed hcg levels are going in the right direction. But I can’t help trying to remember what my symptoms were last time. I didn’t have many but the one thing was massively sore boobs. I can’t quite remember when that kicked in. Don’t have those at all - like not even a little bit. Just makes me feel stressed that this is going to go the same way as the first pregnancy and I am spiralling massively

tmc14 · 17/06/2020 06:10

@Ranoutofgoodnames sending hugs, it’s such a stressful time. Try to remember that every pregnancy is different. With my son I had barely any symptoms all pregnancy. With my second pregnancy I had all the symptoms going but they stopped growing at almost 9 weeks. This time (currently 23 weeks) it’s been a mixture of times with symptoms, times without. Nothing really until 6 weeks though. I know it’s a really hard time but go with the evidence... your HCG levels look good. That’s the only fact you have, and it’s looking good. It’s such a long journey being pregnant after loss, start to think about the things that work for you in terms of relaxing/distracting/whatever it is you need to survive & get a plan in place for when you’re feeling particularly anxious XX

footprintsintheslow · 17/06/2020 06:45

Haven't been on for a while but trying to catch up now.

@Hayleylou89 I recognise you from a different thread I think. Lovely to see you here. I haven't got any device but I understand a little of what you have been through as we all do here. I lost my daughter at 20 weeks in October. No apparent reason and your story is heart breaking. I'm honestly in awe at every person on here and how we all keep going, particularly you @Shefliesonherownwings. X

@futuredreams @AnxiousLady1 I'm on a thread for woman due the same month as me but nothing beats this thread. Only we can truly understand each other.

@MOGMOGMOG85 another vote for one born every minute. I'd never seen it and then watched every episode during my pregnancy two years ago. I believe there is only one sad ending and it's handles very sensitively ( although I hadn't had any bad experiences myself so I would view it differently now ). There's recently been a series called something like 'life and birth on bbc1. Again all happy as far as I remember.
@tmc14 and @Knotemma sorry to hear about your awful stories. That must've been devastating for both of you.

Welcome to everyone new. I'm always thrilled to see new members.

footprintsintheslow · 17/06/2020 07:04

@Rachael321 wow what a dramatic experience and lovely scan picture.

@Ranoutofgoodnames it's so difficult isn't it. All my pregnancies have been different so it's so hard to compare. Are you working at the moment or able to keep busy?

Pregnant After Loss and Dreaming of Rainbows - 4
footprintsintheslow · 17/06/2020 07:15

@Treaclepie19 congratulations on viability. What a huge milestone. X

Knotemma · 17/06/2020 07:47

@Ranoutofgoodnames the only symptom I had this pregnancy until 6 weeks was an awful metallic taste in my mouth. Then from 6 weeks onwards sore boobs and so much sickness that I honestly didn't know if I would get through the pregnancy. With my previous 3 losses I had nausea and sore boobs before I'd even tested and I didn't make it past 8 weeks with any of them. Honestly this early you will just drive yourself round the bend unfortunately. That is the nature of pregnancy after loss. I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts and sticky bean dust that this pregnancy will work out for you.

@Treaclepie congratulations on viability, it's a massive milestone.

@Littlegoth 12 weeks really isn't long! And yet at the beginning it's seemed like the longest time in the world, it so strange how the time gets shorted the further also we get (though I might feel differently at 35 weeks 😂)

Hagster · 17/06/2020 08:00

@ranoutofgoodnames it's so hard isn't it? I understand, I was very focused on symptoms right from the start. Couldn't agree more with @footprintsintheslow - whilst it's so hard to do, remember the one fact you have - the HCG is going in the right direction. And for the rest of it, because of course you'll still worry, try as much as you can to be kind to yourself and do things which relax/distract you xx

didslysquiddlydoo · 17/06/2020 09:16

@Ranoutofgoodnames I'm glad the results of the blood test were positive but sorry to hear it's not helped fo alleviate much of the anxiety at the moment. As others have said, it's normal to experience such difficult emotions after miscarriage, which is really sad because we all deserved to enjoy pregnancy more than we (certainly initially) do!!

Try your best to find distractions and keep busy xx

So excited for everyone updating their weeks - we've come so far! @Treaclepie19 and @Rachael321 gorgeous scan pictures!!! 💕💕

I've booked a private scan for Monday (26+2) just because anxiety has been slowly creeping in again - the whole movement thing with an anterior placenta is a bit of a head #*%$!! Overall I'm ok though - keeping busy and practicing the DBT skills I teach others to use for maintaining sanity 😂. Looking forward to hopefully getting to see baby wriggling around, confirming sex (seen so many stories of being told wrong sex lately!!!) and starting the six week countdown to the next scan at 32 weeks!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼 We've made a start on the nursery this week too, which is exciting!! 💕💕

MOGMOGMOG85 · 17/06/2020 10:46

@Rachael321 and @Treaclepie19 congratulations on your beautiful scans! They look so very babylike now it's amazing!

@Ranoutofgoodnames I was on here seeking reassurance practically every day in the early weeks and know how awful those early weeks are. The best you can do is just try to distract yourself constantly from overthinking things - I got into some really trashy reality tv programmes so I could constantly watch them, and also a long computer game! I didn't have sore boobs at all this pregnancy. Slightly sore at night I guess but really nothing and not until quite late in the first trimester. Last pregnancy my boobs were cripplingly painful so I was quite fixated on this. However my first pregnancy was unsuccessful and this was has been successful so far (13+3 last I saw!) so people are telling the truth when they say you really can't read into symptoms at all. Essentially there is no way to tell how this pregnancy will end but unless you are cramping and bleeding (and actually I had a lot of cramping in the early weeks, and 5 bleeding episodes too) lots then there is nothing to say this isn't going the right way xxx

My current obsession is "showing" I've definitely rounded out a bit at the bottom but I want MORE! I was very relaxed after my 12 week scan for about 2 weeks but now I've entered the worrying zone again and am desperate to see something!

Also: anyone else not very good with blood tests? I've been pretty skookum so far but had to have one repeated today (the harmony test didn't make it to america on time) and I was a nervous wreck, screaming, shaking! I think its something to do with me being on aspirin, I was just picturing it spurting out everywhere... which it of course didn't do so hopefully I can calm down next time. I hate blood tests but am usually good at handling them. Depends how many phials they have to take and also how brutal the nurse is.... happy to take any suggestions on getting through it! xx

Oh - something going on this week, my partners work have said they are consulting on moving to a more permanent "work-from-home" scenario and suddenly the potential to move close to family and a support network has opened up. We are now very keen to move west with his family in close contact, and my Mum has said she would like to move down there with us from her current place up north. This is all super exciting, but also quite stressful as we would have to "port" our mortgage which means we essentially re-apply, which means I need to still be earning when we do it, which means we need to get our skates on! His employer are not being definitive yet as they are entering a long consultation process but I've pushed him to seek an answer from them. It would be so beneficial for his work as he currently does about 10 hours a week unpaid overtime and if I have to give up my job and seek evening/weekend work without a family support network around us it's likely he'll have to start finishing work at 5.30 on the dot instead. I hope they can see it will be beneficial to them to have 3 grandparents and an auntie next door! Obviously it will be really important to me as the one doing most of the childcare. There are a couple of questions he needs clarified before we can make the move. He really doesn't want to leave his job because we are both anxious about the oncoming economic crisis and he is in an unusually resilient workplace which is like gold dust. I'm trying not to panic about all this but secretly I'm freaking out!!!

@footprintsintheslow thank you. It's so helpful for me to be able to come on here and share my worries and anxieties and know everyone understands. I'm feeling baby move more as well which helps me get through day to day but I do just have to take it appointment by appointment.

I'm back at my consultant on friday, hopefully a more successful appointment than last times run in with reception. I want to ask her how often I will see her or my midwife and when they will start listening to the heartbeat. I'm booked in for monthly scans now but I think it would also make me feel better to have monthly doppler checks in between too so essentially an appointment every couple of weeks. I also want to know who to contact if I have worries about movement or anything. Trying to get through to reception is a nightmare so I'm hoping there's a triage or emergency number they can give me. At least DH can come in which I'm so pleased about.

@MOGMOGMOG85 that sounds potentially very exciting. Local support will no doubt make a huge difference so fingers crossed you can make it work. I was saying to someone today that hopefully lockdown has shown a lot of organisations that staff are able to work much more flexibly and still be productive and involved. Surely as a country we need to more actively look at flexible working as standard rather than a benefit. Hope your DH gets the answers you need.

@Shefliesonherownwings I love how assertive and clear you are about what you want.
Trying to get past the receptionist is like breaking into Fort Knox! My midwife said "ring the gp and leave me a message" as as if it's a walk in the park.
I've rung been told to ring a number that doesn't work, rung back and been given a wrong number and then when I rang again I cried and the receptionist agreed to try and find a way a help". I'm obviously missing something as not sure what's so hard about contacting a colleague that literally works out of the same office as them.

SammiLou2312 · 17/06/2020 19:43

@shefliesonherownwings and @footprintsintheslow where are you both based? I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire and was given a direct mobile number for my midwife at my booking in appointment along with another mobile number for the midwife on call if I can't get through to my named midwife...
@shefliesonherownwings I was advised to ring the hospital I will be delivering at (the maternity assessment unit) if I have any concerns about movements etc x
@Ranoutofgoodnames I didn't really have any symptoms until 6/7 weeks this time... got sore boobs and nausea about then that lasted until about 16 weeks. As others have said, try to focus on the fact that your bloods are looking good ATM (I know it's easier said than done).
Congrats to everyone on your milestones xx

footprintsintheslow · 17/06/2020 19:49

@SammiLou2312 I'm in South Wales. We used to have a system like yours. In fact just two years ago the same midwife gave me her mobile number for direct contact but it's all changed and not particularly because of Covid, just a new system. A crappy one but maybe better for midwives.

MrsG3 · 17/06/2020 20:57

Are any of you ladies around 18 weeks and still not feeling any movements? Starting to drive myself crazy panicking 😖

Shefliesonherownwings · 17/06/2020 21:18

@footprintsintheslow I am so not a forceful person, except at work when I take on lawyer persona! In my personal life I used to be so worried about what other people thought of me. But I'm being very selfish at the moment and I know I'll feel so much better and reassured if I can have fortnightly appointments so I'm going to push for that.

@SammiLou2312 I'm in Hertfordshire. I would love a direct line to a midwife or even just a number for the assessment/triage unit. At the moment I just have the clinic number and they hardly ever answer. Hopefully I can get some more direct numbers on Friday.

@MrsG3 when I was pregnant last year I didn't feel proper movements until around 24 weeks. I did have an anterior placenta but it did take me a good while to make out proper baby movements.

SammiLou2312 · 17/06/2020 21:40

@MrsG3 movement can start between 16 and 24 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much atm. You may even find your baby is more active during night which is why you aren't noticing it so much. My early movements were so small I constantly questioned if it was my imagination... I would say speak to your midwife if you still haven't noticed anything in a couple more weeks (or next time you speak to them if that's before) and see what they say x

@footprintsintheslow and @shefliesonherownwings I can't believe you don't have a direct line to midwife or hospital units...I would suggest if you are really worried to ring NHS direct for advice or go to a&e xx

I'm sure everyone/ mostly everyone here has had the whooping cough injection ... I got mine yesterday and it's horrible. My arm is dead and it feels like a bee sting so I can't lie on my left side. I'm sure it's completely normal but hoping it's the only one I'll need for a while.
