However if anyone has any product recommendations in terms of car seats, prams, pushchairs, cots that turn into beds, baby wardrobes, changing tables, Moses baskets etc (I could go on) send them my way as I literally have no clue
There's a conversation on the Facebook page you might find useful, @MrsR87.
Car seats - depends on if you want it as part of a travel system (ie where you can put the car seat onto the pram base without having to take baby out) or aren't bothered about that. You can get car seats for each stage, or one that goes from birth to 12. It's a whole thread in its own right, but I would say pick something that is extended rear facing (at least until 2, preferably 4). I won't go into specifics, but they are still very flexible until that age and what would result in whiplash for an adult or older child can leave toddlers paralysed.
Prams/pushchairs - you need to work out what sort of thing you want/need. My list was: for us it was worth getting a travel system, I wanted the pram seat (ie older child part) to forward and rear face and be able to change between easily, DP is tall (and I get a bad back from bending) so I wanted a pram that was quite high, with an adjustable handlebar, and a single handlebar so it was easier to push one handed. This was 5 years ago, and I narrowed it down to the Uppababy Vista (about £900) and the Cosatto Giggle (about £500). Then I found the Cosatto on sale, and I liked the interesting print, so that's what I bought.
Cot - DS was in a cosleeper until 6 months, and then we got a cheap cot from IKEA (this one but I think it was cheaper then), then when DS was old enough we had him on a mattress on the floor for a bit, then a proper bed.
Baby wardrobes - look very pretty, but are a waste of money new. Buy second hand.
Changing table - are a waste of money new. We never bothered, just had a changing mat upstairs. You can get changers that go over the top of the cot for about £30 (cot top changers). Or else buy second hand.
Moses basket - some babies just hate them. I'd say only worth buying second hand, but you will need a new mattress.
You need somewhere for baby to sleep, clothes for them to wear and a way to feed them. You can get everything else after they're born.
If you plan to formula feed, invest in a Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine. They're worth their weight in gold.
