Sorry about your mum @MummyBearBoo glad she's on the mend...

Look after yourself working so hard @Wise0wl !

Hey guys, so i had mu growth scan yesterday. The little monkey wouldn't turn to face us so no photo as all you could see was the back of her head. She's currently measuring on the 50th percentile, so they dont think shes huge. Shes also transverse, lying across the top of my belly with her head tucked under my ribs on the right! So i now have midwife in 3 weeks, and another scan/consultant app in 4 weeks.

How is everyone else doing? Really not long to go for some of you!!

professorastrocat · 23/09/2020 09:10

Hey @Hatepickinganame glad all was well though despite being transverse. How many weeks are you now? I don't think it's an issue is it. I recommend spinning babies if baby is still like that in the later weeks. I'm using spinning babies exercises just for my pelvic pain.
I have a midwife appointment today (and flu jab) and 36w growth scan on Friday. My due date is a month today!! 😍😱

Hi all, I’m checking in after being super quiet.

So nice to hear how everyone is progressing. We should have some adorable baby pics soon!!

I’ve got my c section booked on 12th October. Getting a bit nervous now. I’ve packed my hospital bag, put the crib and the pram together, and we are ready to go!

I’ve had anaemia for the past few weeks so having the delights of iron tablets. Also finding looking after my toddler really tough. She’s not in nursery two days a week. So far today we have watched a lot of TV and eaten a lot of toast!! I have all the mum guilt!!

Talcott2007 · 23/09/2020 12:27

Good Luck for the 12th @Needallthesleep!!

I've decided the start my MAT Leave at the end of the week now - was planning to keep going until the 12th after but I just can't face it. Although I'm working from home my brain isnt with it at all and I'm just so sore!!

Had another lovely catch up with my Community Midwife today - She said she is not surprised am am feeling like this - I'm measuring blooming 37w, and she is head down really to go!! She feels that it wont take much to set me off and she wouldn't be surprised if i went spontaneously early.

I'm booked in for a mammoth day of scans and appointments with all the various specialists next Tuesday and to have a tour of NICU/Delivery Suite to finalise the exact birth plan and to meet all the team who will be there on the big day.

My induction is still set for 21st Oct so really she should be here this time next month!!! Eeekkk!!

Needallthesleep · 23/09/2020 12:45

Oh wow that’s so exciting @Talcott2007. And yes yes to starting mat leave early. I was made redundant so not had anything work wise to do for ages, and I have no idea how I would cope if I was still working now! What are you going to do with the time before the baby comes?? Lots of relaxing I hope!

DPSawMyUsername · 23/09/2020 14:15

Oooooo I'm looking forward to these October baby pics 😍

6 weeks to go for me and no gut feeling if I'll be early, on time or over. Just need it to not be the 11th November because I've got tickets booked for next year 😆

professorastrocat · 23/09/2020 14:54

I thought baby might be a little engaged but according to midwife today she's possibly moved up (which explains the more painful feet under the ribs).! We're alright to wait a bit though!

OP posts:
Talcott2007 · 23/09/2020 20:07

@Needallthesleep I'm planning on doing as little as I can get away with! I've got a nice chunk of time in the day while DD1 is at school and have a little list all those jobs that aren't difficult but you put off - like descaling the kettle and organising the drawer of doom (you know that one drawer you shove all the random stuff in!) I also plan to batch cook and fill up the freezer which will definitely take the pressure off those first few weeks when I'm deep in the fatigue fog of feeding on demand! Hoping to get myself booked in for a pedicure too - so long as that suddenly doesn't get banned as part of all the new COVID-19 restrictions!

Needallthesleep · 23/09/2020 20:58

@professorastrocat love that your little one has moved in the opposite direction! Sounds like she is super comfy in there (you are having a ‘she’, right?!).

@Talcott2007 sounds lovely. I’ve for some reason decided to potty train my DD during this time before the new baby. It’s not fun!

Does anyone have a current child in nursery? Are you doing full time when the new babies come along? Part time? I’m struggling to decide what to do. Thinking full time for October and November, but not sure what to do in December and after then.

professorastrocat · 25/09/2020 11:54

@Needallthesleep yes a girl...
Had 36w scan today. I think overall everything seems absolutely fine. 40th centile (6lbs apparently!!) though slightly lower fluids and quite a small head from my reckoning, though abdominal circ and overall growth growing nicely.

Not sure why but I'm apparently not going to get a call from consultant now, just back to midwife. I appreciate they are likely reassured but not sure why with only 4 weeks left it's useful to not just keep tabs on me for a sake of a couple of short phone calls.

OP posts:
Hatepickinganame · 25/09/2020 15:42

@professorastrocat that does seem odd. Do i remember rightly that youve been consultant led from the start too? Im seeing two of them now lol hoping ill get discharged from at least one of them.at my 32 week appointments. Haven't given up on my dream of a water birth just yet lol!

DPSawMyUsername · 25/09/2020 23:06

Consultants signed me off and over to midwives yesterday.
Put me to medium risk rather than high and agreed I have no reason to be booked in or need a section. 75% chance of successful VBAC and 1/200 chance on rupture. My scarring is from 14 years ago so hardly fresh haha.
No more growth scans as he's back on the curve.

Now I just need to get these hospital bags sorted. I'm sure there's some motivation hanging around somewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone else packed and ready?

professorastrocat · 26/09/2020 08:16

@Hatepickinganame yes from the start - I didn't know they might just sign me off and obviously it's good they think things are straightforward this time but I had a question for them that my midwife doesn't know. I was also supposed to hear from someone (another midwife) after my scan yesterday but didn't. Will try and find out what's going on from my midwife on Monday.

@DPSawMyUsername good news for you - at least they've fully explained it all to you, it just seemed strange for me to be signed off before I'd even had my scan. Perhaps they are psychic!

Nope not packed yet and starting to feel the pressure mount! Amongst a load of other things including setting up the bedside cot and finishing my birth plan, it's on my list to do this week so that when I'm 37 weeks everything is ready (please don't come before!! 😬😬)

OP posts:
professorastrocat · 26/09/2020 08:23

@DPSawMyUsername sorry just read your post again and it really is fantastic you'll very likely get your VBAC, I bet that was happy news for you if that's what you've been wanting.

@Hatepickinganame yes also still dreaming of hopefully getting the water birth!! Keeping my fingers crossed things don't change again at the hospital where I am meaning there are fewer pools available (lockdown stuff).

Hope everyone has good weekends planned?

OP posts:
Wise0wl · 26/09/2020 08:41

Morning @professorastrocat glad your scan went well and how exciting to be setting up the bedside crib etc!

Great news also @DPSawMyUsername 😊

I’m away this weekend (UK break), it’s so nice to get a change of scenery! Hope you all have good weekends planned?

DPSawMyUsername · 26/09/2020 09:33

@professorastrocat Have you had the same midwife throughout? I keep reading that people text theirs to ask stuff but I'm on my 3rd one, I'd feel strange communicating like a friend.

Apart from big knickers, I feel like I've got everything ready to pack - just need to pack it.

The co-sleeper crib, the downstairs basket/chair all need setting up too.
Oh and DP has given me till the start of October to "sort that shite" in the back bedroom. He's got 24 hours to have a think about what he demands from me 😂

Hatepickinganame · 26/09/2020 10:00

@DPSawMyUsername ha my oh and i have a week off in october. Little does he know thats the week we are using to get this house organised! Im ordering her cot next weekend and new furniture for the boys room. Plus we need to do a tip run to get rid of the stuff thats still hanging around from moving a couple of months ago!

I have a list on the fridge of what we still need to buy for the baby, and what needs packing in hospital bags. That way should we be rushed in before ive packed them, he will know what to put in. With all the complications so far i wanted to feel prepared 😂 im just counting down until i finish work and can have a rest now!

professorastrocat · 26/09/2020 11:10

@DPSawMyUsername haha, I'm sure it's organised shite though! I'm on my third midwife too but I've seen her for 3 or 4 appointments now so know I can contact her. It's sadly normal to switch around, I did in my first pregnancy.

What big knickers have people got? I can't use the paper ones just cos I think they're grim! Need some really stretchy but tight-ish ones I think.

@Wise0wl have a lovely weekend away, we're just going out for the day today for a change of scenery for my little boy.

OP posts:
Needallthesleep · 29/09/2020 17:42

@professorastrocat I have these. With my DD I had some lovely light support ones, but I can’t remember where they are from, and the label has been washed so much I can’t see. So annoying!

professorastrocat · 29/09/2020 17:56

@Needallthesleep awesome thanks they look like they'll do the job 😊 not long to go now for you! ?

I'm 36+4 today and had a bit of a bleed scare on Sunday, but hospital were happy that it wasn't anything to worry about after observing baby and doing a check of things.

@MummyBearBoo how you doing!?

OP posts:
Needallthesleep · 29/09/2020 18:17

I would say they aren’t tight though. But they are super cheap!

Oh sounds scary @professorastrocat. Glad to hear everything is well. Have you finished work now? Are you feeling ready?

I’m 37+1 today. C section scheduled for 12th October, so just under two weeks left for me!! I’m mostly packed, we have a name, the baby stuff is ready, and I’ve been expressing colostrum. My toddler has just bought home a horrible cold though, which I’m desperately hoping leaves the house before the new baby comes!

Wise0wl · 29/09/2020 22:49

@professorastrocat thank you - it was lovely to escape!

On big knickers I went for giant M&S ones, they are huge! Really glad all went ok following your bleed scare, that must have been scary.

@Needallthesleep can’t believe it’s so soon now! And you’re so organised. Any tips for expressing colostrum? I’m going to give it a go.

professorastrocat · 30/09/2020 07:10

Thanks, it's amazing how pregnancies can be so different, very different experience to my first really (hoping so with the birth too! 😆)

@Needallthesleep that's so exciting, I've been thinking I'll harvest some colostrum but we'll see whether I do, I feel like I've so much to do still! Really hope that cold does one before the 12th for you!

@Wise0wl this may help? abm.me.uk/breastfeeding-information/antenatal-expression-colostrum/

@professorastrocat -so glad everything was ok!
I'm doing ok 38w and 3 days today got my induction on Monday, -bump was still measuring big on Monday (it was my 36 week midwife appointment done at 38w!) -also had to go to cardiology just to check everything but they said everything was fine!
I'm just waiting for Monday now I don't think this little wriggler will come any earlier she's having too much fun sticking her feet out the side of my tummy!!
Baby is engaged so need the loo like every hour but on the plus side my SPD isn't as painful though I'm still a bit stiff!
Pretty much ready bags mostly packed Moses basket in our room got all baby stuff out (had to buy a new steriliser and breast pump coz couldn't find all the pieces)
My parents are coming up Sunday to look after DD as they're allowed to come up for that even tho we're locked down! DD will still be off school for another week as one staff member in her year tested positive for Covid!
Hope all you ladies are all ok!! Xxx
