Everything I’ve read online says don’t compare days or count kicks before 30 weeks as it’s so sporadic what you will feel day to day. I’m 19 weeks Sunday and haven’t felt any movement. Random q, what do movements actually feel like? Are they distinctive?

blankiesandunicorns · 08/05/2020 16:39

@DollyDaph10 I never really felt flutters this time mine went straight to kicks at about 17 weeks, like wind really. But as time goes on they become more distinctive and you can feel turning movements as well.
Thanks for the reassurance, I don't think I worried this much with my first about kicks. Iv got my scan Tuesday so think I am feeling more anxious in the lead up to that

esmerelda1988 · 08/05/2020 16:54

@DollyDaph10 I'm a ftm and initially thought it was wind but it was repetitive and in the same 2 places, by belly button and then lesser 'pops' lower in the womb. Now I get movements mainly morning and night and notice them more when lying down. They started at about 17 weeks in hindsight and by 18 weeks they were obvious and more frequent. I think this is early to feel a first baby though so don't worry!

DollyDaph10 · 08/05/2020 16:58

Thank you both! I can’t differentiate if I’m having ligament pain or something else so I’m hoping it will become obvious. I’d love a big distinctive kick (May regret saying so!)
@blankiesandunicorns I think it’s completely understandable if you’re more anxious this time, there’s a lot going on in the world at the moment. Fingers crossed for karate kicks on your Tuesday scan :)

LexiM · 08/05/2020 17:01

@Treaclepie19 your lunch sounds lush!

@DollyDaph10 I think it’s really unfair of your family to have a gathering, well first of all because lots of us miss our family and it’s not allowed but also because you would feel left out. I hope you are feeling a bit better.

When I saw my midwife last week she said you don’t need to be tracking movements until 24 weeks as that’s when they get regular. I’ve definitely felt movement but certainly no pattern, it’s just more obvious when I lie still.

What a beautiful day it is today, I’ve been enjoying sitting outside and reading my book. Not done much else really!!

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 17:04

Yeah I only ever feel baby when I'm laid down and she doesn't move or kick every time I lay down- I was panicking yesterday coz she didn't kick in the morning or the night before - but she kicked last night -she's moved a bit today but no kicks as yet !
Think they just like to freak us out but I read the same that they don't kick everyday until about 28 ish weeks!! Xx

blankiesandunicorns · 08/05/2020 17:15

Thank you all for your reassuring posts I do have to keep reminding myself I'm only 19 weeks, which is pretty early still. I think because my bump is big and I showed early I forget how early it is still

Treaclepie19 · 08/05/2020 17:16

No movements here still at 18+2. Little bit sad to have an anterior placenta again.
Try not to worry until 24 weeks as others have said. I know it's tricky though.

Very much looking forward to my 4yo's bedtime because he is in a grump!
I've got fillet steak for tonight Grin

I rarely eat meat but if I do it's steak 😂

Hope everyone is having a nice day Flowers

Iv got steak too @Treaclepie19 hope you enjoy!

I find at every stage of pregnancy there's something different to worry about, or I find something different to worry about!

babymama09 · 08/05/2020 17:30

Movements feel like a belly flop or flutters to begin with until you can feel a physical punch or kick or even watch a head move which is soooo wierd. I haven't had any distinctive moves little bit of wriggling I think. But I panic if I don't feel baby move. I'm sure everything is fine and if you are worried you can contact your midwife for a check up it's important you feel happy.

Try drinking so ice cold water or tapping on ur tummy sometimes you get a response. When I was pregnant with my previous kids my DH used to blow raspberries on my tummy and thst used to get a big response.

@Dollydaph10 I don't think it's fair either thst they threw that kind of gathering knowing you cannot go. I'd mention how you feel about it if it's getting you down. Me and my family are not close at all, my dad even forgot my two kids birthdays. I don't really class myself as having a family I can rely on which is a shame and the main reason they don't know I am pregnant still. I am 16 weeks now. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 To you, we are all here if you need to talk hun xx

@Treaclepie19 sounds delicious x

DollyDaph10 · 08/05/2020 17:34

Ohh trust me my family know I’m not impressed with them! You reach a point where you have to just step away from people making bad choices so that’s what we have done. I definitely won’t be seeing them until they can show they are actually socially distancing.
How funny, I had steak for dinner last night! These babies must love beef

Indigogirl88 · 08/05/2020 17:37

I think I've had a few flutters today but not much.
I made some bunting in the garden today, I felt very Kirsty Allsopp 😂
Its definitely cider weather today so I right fancy one!
I've been feeling a bit down, again, with regards to self image and I just feel that dp will stop fancying me and look elsewhere. I know it's totally irrational but the thought is there. Anyway my sister told me not to worry.

I've got chicken kebab for dinner!

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 17:45

Do you have to have well done steak coz I rememberers NHS website saying something about undercooked meat I like rare steak!!
My baby decided moving fine was 11.30pm last night she kicked earlier so t thought she'd give to sleep after and I had been laid down ages by that point! Xx

Indigogirl88 · 08/05/2020 18:05

@BooMamaBear just noticed you came from the ttc buses! I was stalking them last year under my previous name, how long were you ttc in the end (sorry for prying!) I'd go for medium rare now as long as it's good steak and well in date you'll be fine. I've been eating them medium well, usually prefer rare, and I've been fine

LexiM · 08/05/2020 18:14

The advice on all meat should be well done. I love a steak rare and miss them. My mum gives us steaks at the moment as she had her first beef cow this year, it’s delicious. Very jealous of you all, I have no idea what we are having for dinner tonight, I’m not organised enough.

Definitely cider weather! I’ve got an alcohol free Kopparberg, it’s close enough to the real thing for me right now 😄

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 18:19

Well this time I joined the Feb bus but had conceived in Jan just don't test til I'm a few days late -it was my first month of TTC but I'd been on buses before from Dec 2018 -April 2019 then I got pregnant but had to have a TFMR in July!
My due date for that baby was 10th Jan so we decided to try after that my ovulation was around 23rd Jan but I didn't get a positive OPK so wrote that off but then my AF due in Feb was late after 3 days a took a CB and FRER and fit strong positives! So not long this time xx

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 18:21

I miss rare steak too and don't want well done steak! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 08/05/2020 18:35

Yeah has to be well done @BooMamaBear
I smother it in peppercorn sauce and make sure its nice and soft so its still yummy.

Ooh I have some alcohol free kopperberg. Might join you all!

blankiesandunicorns · 08/05/2020 18:45

I like rare steak too but now I have it medium, so it's still juicy but not bloody, otherwise I wouldn't bother having it but it's fresh from butchers so I think it's fine.

babymama09 · 08/05/2020 19:09

I prefer my steak well done, my dh and ds have just got back from tesco with a steak and a box of chocolates for me....

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 19:10

I had alcohol free pear cider while sat in the sun chatting to the neighbours she's also pregnant with a girl but she next month -we were obvs observing social distancing guidelines and I had some Allioli and bread too! Xx

Spark27 · 08/05/2020 19:55

We had steak tonight too. I miss a really rare steak. Sucks having to have it medium.

I find I feel most of my movement when lying down. So before bed and first thing in the morning. Most afternoons I get a little panic that I've not felt anything, and then dont really relax until I feel her later on. I've heard that you shouldn't really worry about patterns of movement until around 24w, but obvs if you're worried about anything at anytime to call the mw/hosp.

HerondaleDucks · 08/05/2020 21:04

So I emailed a local antenatal course for more info and they said its £200 for the online zoom course. Is that reasonable?

otterbaby · 08/05/2020 22:29

@HerondaleDucks we've paid £175 for a 3-day NCT course which is supposed to be in person, but may be online if we're still in lockdown (it's not until end of July). How long is the course meant to last?

HerondaleDucks · 08/05/2020 22:35

It says 12 hours worth. Ok 200 doesn't seem as bad now you've said yours is 175 lol
