Hi all, new here, but due 1st Oct and had 20w scan yesterday :-) Now feel like I need to start buying stuff!!

First baby for me so I have no idea where to start. Going to review some of the threads about must-buys.
Had hoped to find out sex of baby but our hospital doesn't tell you and I didn't want to push it. Planning to go private in a few weeks to find out when things have hopefully calmed down a little.

Pokhara3399 · 19/05/2020 18:46

Thank you so much @LostinAusten2 and @Glitterbug86 for your warm welcome.

No, I haven’t had my 2nd scan yet. Its on next week Friday 29th May. I am so excited to find out my little one. Have you had yours?

Preggs · 19/05/2020 18:51

Hi I have anterior placenta and lying low this my 4th baby never had before I've been booked in for scans every 6weeks how about you?

Preggs · 19/05/2020 18:54

Any guesses on gender 😊

CouscousEvaporator · 19/05/2020 19:39

Welcome @prettypeonies and @Pokhara3399 🙂
That’s so frustrating they don’t tell you the sex @prettypeonies !!! Still it’s an excuse to go private and see baby again 🥰

@preggs I’d say boy but no idea really! When in Oct are you due?

BooMamaBear · 19/05/2020 19:39

Welcome @Pokhara3399 xx

Treacle81 · 19/05/2020 20:54

Thanks v much girls, we are over the moon! Hi 💁‍♀️*@Pokhara3399 and @prettypeonies. Welcome and congrats 🤰❤️ That’s a shame but hopefully you will get to see your baby again soon. Hi @Preggs* that is quite common I hear and sorry I have no idea on sex lol xx

Treacle81 · 19/05/2020 20:55

@BooMamaBear a 3D scan will be amazing!!! Bet you cannot wait for that xx

BooMamaBear · 19/05/2020 21:13

I can't wait but it's 7,weeks away yet!!

Just thought I'd share - my baby Oscar kicking and wriggling loads she seems to do this when I lay on my back in bed after drinking full fat Fanta from the fridge!
Just thought I'd share in case it works for anyone else coz it works for me -she's not stopped yet tho! Xxx

Preggs · 19/05/2020 21:40

@CouscousEvaporator
Ah a boy just a guess or any reason why 😊

Preggs · 19/05/2020 21:41

@CouscousEvaporator
Sorry I'm due 1st October

Preggs · 19/05/2020 21:43

@Treacle sorry I'm new to this it was in response to someone else's post about my low placenta 🙈

LexiM · 19/05/2020 22:14

@Pokhara3399 and @prettypeonies welcome to the group. It’s amazing how different every trust is with their rules and what they do/don’t do. Hope you get your private scan.

@preggs sorry I’m no use at guessing the sex, have no clue!

Just done a supermarket shop, my hip/back aches so much. I didn’t expect to be feeling like an old lady this early on in the pregnancy. I’m definitely ready for bed!

Indigogirl88 · 19/05/2020 23:45

We're going to need a new thread again soonGrin

blankiesandunicorns · 20/05/2020 07:32

Hi and welcome to new people

@prettypeonies my due date is October 1st too! I'm sure you will manage to get what you need this is my second but I haven't started buying yet, and don't have anything left from my first as she is now nearly 7!

Hope you manage to get a private scan

Quiffy · 20/05/2020 08:50

@Treacle81 Congrats on your baby boy

Pokhara3399 · 20/05/2020 08:51

Good morning everyone and thank you for your welcome.

I am 20 weeks tomorrow but haven’t felt my baby movements yet. Can anyone explain me how it feels when your baby kicks you?
As well as, does anyone know when you will receive your MATB1 certificate? (First time mom). I was told by midwife that it will be issued only after 25 weeks, is it always that’s late?
Actually I want to start my maternity leave bit early complying to my company policy.
Thank you ladiesSmile have a nice day

Quiffy · 20/05/2020 09:14

@Pokhara3399 Mine started like the feeling you get when you drive over a hill - like the flip. Then kind of bubbles, then like someone is pinging me on the inside, so I'm presuming that's kicks.

On MATB1 I think it depends on the district as I've heard 22-25 weeks from others. I have a midwife appointment on 5th June when I'll be 22+4 so I think I'll get it then but not sure (ftm too).

CouscousEvaporator · 20/05/2020 09:37

@Pokhara3399 my first movements felt like a fish in a bag! People told me it would feel like gas but it’s too solid to feel like that for me. Definite wriggles.

I’ve been told my matb1 form isn’t being given until 28weeks... :/

bluemoon2468 · 20/05/2020 09:47

@Pokhara3399 at first mine felt a bit like wind, sort of like when you have a dodgy tummy and everything is churning around down there 🙈 now I get little popping kicks, which sort of feels like when someone flicks you, but painless. I feel him clearest when I'm lying on my back, and he's usually most active when I go to bed and when I wake up.

Had my whooping cough vaccine this morning - another pregnancy hurdle overcome 💪🏻

BooMamaBear · 20/05/2020 09:58

I agree with the over the hill feeling when she moves- a kick feels like a kick but a soft one kind of like a poke- I can feel mine from the inside and the outside but I think it depends where your placenta is coz if it's anterior it cushions the kicks a bit til the baby gets bigger (mine is posterior) xx

HerondaleDucks · 20/05/2020 10:23

Today is the day!!!!

Appt at 3.30

Baby feels like a wiggling fish with poking happening.
In 2 distinctive locations on the belly.

Spark27 · 20/05/2020 10:25

@Pokhara3399, I picked up my MATB1 form at 20w 1d. The form says on it it shouldn't be issued until 20w. I'm a 2nd time mum so dont get to see the mw again until 28w, but I need to let work know by 25w what my maternity plans are and give a copy of my MATB1. I just called the mw and asked (thinking it would take a week or 2) and they told me to pop by that day for it. I think it really depends where you are. Sounds the same as the different levels of care we've all been receiving. Pretty weird really, you'd think it would be standardised.

Aquablue1123 · 20/05/2020 10:27

Hi ladies,

I've just got back from my 20 week scan, everything looked fine, the doctor was happy with organs and measurements. It's definitely a boy 💙. The only concern was that there was excess fluid around him that they want to monitor but it will be due to my high blood sugar so I need to manage my diet better as his weight was on the higher side. I have to go for a follow up with my doctor next week on this and maybe do the glucose test earlier.

Anyway, I'm relieved to say the least. :-)

Good luck to anyone having their scans today also. ❤️

Hello to the new ladies too 👋🤗

Xxx

Early Oct babies part 4
Spark27 · 20/05/2020 10:28

For me first movements felt a bit like I had a lava lamp in my tummy, and fish flipping. It still feels a bit like that now, but with bigger movements. I can see pokes and prods from the outside now (21w 3d), but sometimes I can see a prod but still not feel it.

Hope the arm doesnt hurt too much @bluemoon2468

Good luck for today @Herondaleducks. Exciting
