Yay @otterbaby congrats on baby girl 💕

I think someone was keeping a vague tally on boy and girls. We probably need a check in June when everyone has had their scans!

@BntTowers I love the names. Rupert is fantastic unfortunately we know someone with a little rupert already. And I've always loved Phoebe but the same situation. A friend recently had a baby Phoebe. Violet is beautiful.

@Zaalfruit I'm in the same situation with the surname. We aren't married and I love my surname so dont want to lose it! I'd happily double-barrel the surnames but other people dont seem too keen. I guess it's not up to them though. What does your partner think?

BooMamaBear · 07/05/2020 12:20

Yay another team pink member!! Xx

Spark27 · 07/05/2020 13:21

Congratulation @otterbaby
Love the 'no hidden willies'

MrsD1990 · 07/05/2020 13:58

Congratulations on your little girl @otterbaby!!

@Zaalfruit if you want to double barrel your babys name I would do it no matter what anyone says. It's becoming more and more common and not just for posh people! Me and my husband both decided to double barrel our names when we got married so that our little family would all match. I know it raises some eyebrows (also our names don't go together at all 😂) but it makes me and my husband really happy and for the people that think it's strange I doubt we're more than an occasional passing thought for them! It means far more to us than to them!!

otterbaby · 07/05/2020 14:01

@BntTowers yup, back in 1-2 weeks apparently, waiting for a letter in the post now. My appt today ran 45 mins late so not looking forward to waiting again 🙄

BntTowers · 07/05/2020 14:03

@zaalfruit I wouldn't worry about double barrelled names. If that's what you want, go for it.

I've been sat out in the sun over lunch time and now it's time for me to go back in to do some more work. I just want to fall asleep on my sun lounger (in the shade to avoid sunburn) and read a book.

Zaalfruit · 07/05/2020 14:33

I ate a huge bowl of mac and cheese in the garden and now I’m back at my desk think I over ate as the food wants to escape me . All I can think about is a can of coke - I don’t even like fizzy drinks I’m more of a fruit smoothie person .

I think I will double barrel I really shouldn't care what people think . I feel sad that my name won’t be there - my husband name and mine do not match at all his surname sounds a first name. All his siblings and him have different surnames as there parents just choose to give them random names - on of his siblings names is called Fudge A not short for anything but her name is Fudge 🤣

Ohh congratulations on the baby girl
@otterbaby yay another for team girl

bluemoon2468 · 07/05/2020 14:53

@Aquablue1123 I'm having one coffee when I wake up then decaf for the rest of the day.

Love all of the names that you're all thinking of. @DollyDaph10 Theodore was high on our list too but I'm not so keen on Theo so I went off it. We were settled on Franklin which is a name I've loved for years, but then DH suggested Caspar and now I'm totally torn 😬

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 07/05/2020 15:10

@bluemoon2468 I absolutely love Caspar, it's been on my list for years but not sure my partner likes it, but would go amazingly with the surname! I've never heard Franklin but I really like it! I'm struggling with boys names, I have about 20 girls names so maybe I'm having a girl (haven't found out yet) and that's why!

Just been reading through all posts catching up and all this fizzy drink talk has really got me craving!! Might need to nip out and get some!

On some days I've been having 2 very weak coffees a day in the morn and a cup of weak tea, but some days I'll have none.

I am totally on board with hypbobirthing, I have 2 cousins who did it with their births and both have had 2 each and had amazing births and they credit it all to hypnobirthing.

Thanks for all the support last night with my meltdown about having to go back to work on Monday

Xx

bluemoon2468 · 07/05/2020 15:19

Also a huge hypnobirthing advocate here 🙌🏻 my mum did it for both of her births (before it was called hypnobirthing, but applied the exact same principles) and had two natural water births with no pain relief, complications or tearing. My cousin has much more recently also had two wonderful, natural hypnobirths, one of which was a home birth. I've completed the whole positive birth company online course already and I'm a total convert! 🤞🏻 all going well I'm planning on a natural birth at a standalone midwife led unit rather than a hospital.

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 15:27

@bluemoon2468 @CouscousEvaporator oh that's good that you are backing hypnobirthing, I just think it will help my mindset. I really hope my doctor is supportive.

@Zaalfruit I'm also in the same dilemma about double barrelling the surname, just not sure what to do.

@otterbaby yayyyy on team pink for you. 💖

It's good to know everyone is having the odd cuppa here and there! I've give up brie and alcohol, so I deserve a cuppa haha.

I like a few names but for some reason the names I like are my friends pet names (as in their dogs) haha 😂 but I really like them! Whyyyy, my husband is like nope, no way! 🤣

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 07/05/2020 15:31

@Aquablue1123 so funny you've just said that, I'm the same I love Rupert but my cousins dog is called Rupert, and I also quite like Rufus but again another dog! Just boys names finding so hard xx

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 15:46

Yes, that's what I've been like, I like Louie but my dog with an ex was called Louie haha so that's a definite no no, then I like Alfie, but that's my friends dog 🤣, Charlie, that's my nephews budgies name 🤣@AutumnBabyWinterMummy. Just noticed they are all ending in ie ... interesting.

Spark27 · 07/05/2020 15:56

OMG, @Aquablue1123, I now want brie. Argh.

Tonight would be the perfect evening to sit in the garden with the chimnea lit, wine and cocktails and a cheese board. Chatting rubbish and putting the world to rights for hours. Dammit.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 07/05/2020 16:22

@Aquablue1123 we have the same taste in names!!

Theodore has been mentipned, I like that but my cousin just had a Theodore so I feel I can't copy! Hopefully I have a girl so I don't have to choose a boys name!!

@Spark27 oh yes that would be perfect, I am missing wine so much and different cheese, also pâté all the things can't have! I've got in the fridge a few different 0 alcohol wines which kind of do the trick and I got a knock at the door the other day and my brother had put a 0 alcohol Prosecco on my doorstep but ran away before I answered, had a little note with no name on but I recognised his writing!! His wife is pregnant so I'm sure that's why he did it because he understands little things like that can cheer us up when pregnant!!

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 16:28

@Spark27 this is exactly the evening I want right now! I feel so restless and want all the things I can't have 😬🤣

MrsD1990 · 07/05/2020 16:51

I miss brie so much! It's my favourite cheese actually 😂 sods law it's one of the ones we can't eat while pregnant. Gonna make do with some cheddar, crackers and elder flower cordial!

One of the partners at work ordered brownies to my house today which was so kind and really made my day. Not exaggerating when I say they're the best brownies I've ever had! She wrote a note saying it was something sweet to get me through lockdown - definitely needed!

DollyDaph10 · 07/05/2020 17:23

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I planned an afternoon tea for Sunday to mix our weekends up a bit and DH was in stitches that I ordered nosecco 🤣 He thought it was hilarious I’m going to be ‘pretend drinking’

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 17:25

@dollydaph10 I LOVE the idea of afternoon tea and nosecco!!

Would have been nice to go to the pub on such a nice evening this evening, hoping we can do it soon 😄

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 07/05/2020 17:36

@DollyDaph10 oh yes mine is nosecco!! 😂😂 I've never been so excited to receive a gift 😂

I didn't even drink much before at all so don't know why I'm missing it so much, it's like whatever I can't have I want!

I bought a dvd off amazon what to expect exercise dvd and did it first time today it was pretty fun (and I hate exercise!) xx

bluemoon2468 · 07/05/2020 18:18

@Aquablue1123 I would recommend doing the online course and getting your head around it fully before you speak to medical professionals about your plan. Trust me, it will make you feel so confident and empowered about your decision that you'll really be able to advocate for what you want 😊

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 18:21

@bluemoon2468 that's a really good point, you're right. Thank you. 🤗 I will complete the course first.

BooMamaBear · 07/05/2020 19:33

The only boys name I liked was Finlay but now we've got a girl totally spoilt for choice! I prefer names that can be shortened so you can pick what you want to be called!
My favourite name by far is Isabelle -Izzy for short but one of my close friends daughter is Isabella -Bella for short so it's too similar so don't think we can have that- I do like Annabelle but we have a long surname so I'm worried her name would be really long!! Xx

Spark27 · 07/05/2020 19:44

Yay @BooMamaBear. I have an Isabelle/Izzy. Although at the moment shes referred to as nugget head (no idea why, these things just evolve!)

DollyDaph10 · 07/05/2020 20:24

So my friend actually has a daughter named Finlay and it really suits her! I think if Isabelle is your dream baby name you could maybe approach the topic with your friend and ask if she thinks her little girl would like it if the baby had a similar name, and as her daughter is so lovely it has made you fall even more in love with the name? If it were me I’d say yes name your baby what you want to, to a close friend. I know some people can be territorial with names, but may be worth an ask :)
