@HerondaleDucks my 20 week scan is on the 20th of May. So not long to go now, two more weeks.

@MrsD1990 yeh me too. I went off coffee and tea at the beginning because of the milk, but now I'm enjoying my Yorkshire's of a morning haha. So happy the sickness has gone.

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 09:51

Ah @DollyDaph10 i love the name Theodore 🥰

DollyDaph10 · 07/05/2020 09:52

@Aquablue1123 Our 20 week scans are on the same day :)

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 09:52

@Buzz22 yeh I loved fizzy drinks in my first tri because it helped with the hangover feeling but not so much now.

@CouscousEvaporator ohhh I forgot about chocolate 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I should reduce my sugar intake soon, still can't get past that craving.

HerondaleDucks · 07/05/2020 09:53

@DollyDaph10 @Aquablue1123
I'm also on the 20th May! That's lovely!

Aquablue1123 · 07/05/2020 09:54

@DollyDaph10 ahhh really, well I will be thinking of you too. 🤗

I've signed up for a hypnobirthing course, I know it may be a bit premature but I wanted to secure a place. I think if anything it will help with my anxiety and just relax me in general. Anyone else fancy hypnobirthing?

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 09:57

@aquablue1123 I have always had a sweet tooth. It went for the first 4 months but is back with a vengeance!!

Spark27 · 07/05/2020 09:58

@Aquablue1123, I switched on to decaf when starting TTC and have mainly been sticking to that. (I get IBS, sorry, so strong/proper coffee can upset me). I have had the odd normal instant coffee on a morning where I've not slept much and DD is being a bit trying. But then I usually only get to drink half a cup before it's cold.

Ref names we have a list of about 4 girls names that we like. Decided on the middle name straight away, and think we're there on the 1st name. Wont be telling family, etc until shes here. Referring to her as Dave 2 (1st DD was called Dave throughout pregnancy). I like a longer name that can then be shortened for nn's. Our DD is called Isabelle.

Had a broken nights sleep. Woke at 0300 with stomach pains. Cue a lot of worry, but I could feel baby wriggling around. Not sure if it was where the sonographer had been pushing, stretching, or wind (sorry). Seems to be a bit tender today, but no bad pains and have had some baby wriggles. So just taking it easy.

Spark27 · 07/05/2020 09:59

(Also DH cooked last night, so it could be due to that. Haha)

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 09:59

I’ve already been doing hypnobirthing haha I’ve got my tracks and visual images etc and try to do it a couple of times a week. To be honest it’s helped with all this Coronavirus stuff!!

DollyDaph10 · 07/05/2020 09:59

I’m very interested in hypnobirthing too. Just waiting till next scan to sign up for anything incase they also say I will need a c-section. I’m eating lots of chocolate 🤭 and the occasional soft drink, so definitely still having caffeine!

HerondaleDucks · 07/05/2020 10:00

Ok so hypnobirthing sounds interesting. What's the premise?

BooMamaBear · 07/05/2020 10:11

I have 1 normal tea then decaf after that! I'm loving Fanta atm!!
I might look into hypno birthing but I need to wait to speak to my consultant coz she may suggest a C-section due to my excessive bleeding (I lost a litre with DD but much more from TFMRs needing 5 units of blood in total fro these!) or with DD she suggested an early epidural (after 8 hours of being in labour so not that early and it had worn off by the end I only had a low dose so I could still move my legs!) in case I needed emergency surgery as a spinal and epidural usually take 20 mins to take effect and I can't have a GA so they may not have 20 mins - if I already have an epidural they just increase the dosage and take me in!
They have a b plan coz I'm high risk! Xx

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 10:15

What I think is good about it is you can use the techniques of hypnobirthing even with a c section.

It’s essentially about trusting your body and making sure you are well informed about pain meds, and options after your birth.

I’ve found the breathing most useful (some of it is a bit too hippy for me) and the positive birth company do a course for £39 x

BooMamaBear · 07/05/2020 10:19

We learnt about meds and breathing techniques when I did NCT classes with DD and these saw me through labour that time so not sure if I'll need it but we'll see! Xxx

CouscousEvaporator · 07/05/2020 10:35

@BooMamaBear yes definitely if you’ve done antenatal classes/birth before you’ll know what to expect and play it by ear. I’ve always been quite fearful of birth so it’s helped me calm down a bit!

Was contemplating nct- is it worth the price??

BntTowers · 07/05/2020 10:44

I love older vintage names too, we have a couple on the boy list, girl list I'm finding harder as there seems to be so much more choice! I've mentioned before but we quite like Rupert, Hugh or Oscar for boys. No idea about middle names. Phoebe, Edith or Violet are my top ones for girls, but DH still needs some convincing. I think we will just keep with a shortlist as we aren't finding out the gender then we can decide when baby arrives.

I've just signed up to the positive birth company course so I'll have a look at it later.

I've decided I'm going to make a play mat for baby, everyone else seems to be making things for it and I want to as well. Just trying to get my fabrics sourced in time for when I have a few days off at the end of the month.

I'm still WFH at the moment. I'm hoping I'll be able to WFH all the way through. Luckily I think our CEO is quite cautious about the Covid situation, he got WFH in quite quickly for most and hopefully will be cautious with going back. We are a office based in North Yorkshire, but main HQ is London based is I'm hoping that means longer WFH. I suppose we just have to wait and see.

babymama09 · 07/05/2020 10:48

Good morning girls,

I have been trying to catch up with what I have missed from yesterday I can see that a lot of you have scans this month which are your 20 weeks scan... My 20 Week is not until the 3rd of June so I have a fair bit off yet anyone else got scans booked for June?

Prior to being pregnant I used to drink a lot of tea and I don't know how many of you are havkng this issue to but I keep having v dry mouth I am quite congested this morning but do suffer with hay-fever and have itchy skin esp on my back.
I also went through a fizzy drink stage esp with vimto and Fanta but not anymore it's water or fresh orange now, choc craving and very sweet cravings. Although I will argue I had a sweet tooth with my son and my daughters.
4 days to go encounting... Really cannot wait for the scan xx

otterbaby · 07/05/2020 11:03

Just got back from my 20 week scan (which was actually 18+3) and sonographer is very happy with everything. Baby wouldn't cooperate and was laying on her stomach the entire time, so we have to go back for another look at the heart but all looks good so far! And I was a little worried that things could change from our 16 week scan, but no hidden willies appeared so it's definitely a girl! 💕

BooMamaBear · 07/05/2020 11:04

If I was a FTM I would do NCT again. it was good to meet other people in the local area in same situation too I'm still friends with some of the other NCT mums from 4 years ago!!
I felt a lot more confident following these classes - nothing can totally prepare you for being a parent but learning about meds and breathing techniques and what to expect for labour, breastfeeding (which is a skill to learn it doesn't just come naturally to all people like you'd expect) and learning how to bath a baby amongst other things definitely eased my nerves!
I drink loads of water coz i always have a dry mouth though it's not been as bad recently.
My 20!W scan is a week on Tuesday! Xx

HerondaleDucks · 07/05/2020 11:16

@otterbaby congrats on your girl!!!

DollyDaph10 · 07/05/2020 11:21

Congrats on baby girl!

Quiffy · 07/05/2020 11:22

@Aquablue1123 I'm drinking caffeine. Sometimes an iced coffee but mainly irn bru

@herondaleducks @Buzz22 love Lyra too. We had a His Dark Materials reading at our wedding. Such a great set of books and Lyra is a lovely name.

@BntTowers we have such similar name tastes, Rupert, Hugo and Violet were all on our list before we decided on a final. Keeping those in mind for possible no 2.

@otterbaby glad your scan went well and yay on girl 💕💕

BntTowers · 07/05/2020 11:22

@babymama09 mines on the 29th May so not too far ahead of you. 3 weeks tomorrow.

@otterbaby congrats on your girl and no hidden willies made me chuckle. Will you be going back for one nearer your 20 week mark now?

I am really nervous about being a ftm and not knowing anything, going to have to do some research, it was one of the questions I was going to ask the midwife this week but didn't get chance.

Zaalfruit · 07/05/2020 11:22

I haven’t thought of names all that I know is everyone has told me not to double barrel the surname which feels kinda sad for me as it will be my dh surname . Makes me think should I just change mine ? I find girls names so much easier with my husbands surname - boys names just don’t go well the ones I like .

Loving a lot of the names here - I’m trying to stay chilled till my 20 week appointment just need reassurance from that appointment .

My friends pregnant and she is hosing a virtual baby shower and there is a link not for gifts but for charity it’s so cute - (but I really want to send a gift aswell ).

We need to keep a tally of the team girl and team boys .

Any scans today?
