@HSunflower I love the little bits and trinkets you have on your shelves! I was toying with the idea of adding a plant in the nursery for a bit of natural green! Is it a real plant?

I love your furniture too! Is that a Mammas and Papas cot? It's beautiful! Also have you got something round your radiator? I hate ours/radiators in general! They're never where you want them to be, are always in the way and look ugly!!

@ablisha paint it!!

There are loads of different wood paints you can get if you don't like the colour or want to match it to baby furniture! Places like online4baby and mammas and papas also have a lot of natural line furniture

Aww @pineapplebaby that looks incredible!!

Also that's the exact template I gave DH to follow for our tree too!!! I just asked him to thicken the trick a bit and not to add the falling leaves as we didn't have the wall space! Also in colour!!

The little outfits on the wall are amazing! The rocking chair and blanket look so comfy too! Where are they from?

@Helloitsmeagain1 Etsy And then painted them white ourselves! Sadly 30 quid each which I know is expensive for a shelf but I just couldn't find anything cheaper to match the idea I had in my head...

@MrsRose2018 thanks so much! I absolutely love it, I keep just sitting in there as it’s such a calm room.
Love the painting your husband did, so talented! Putting the decal up was the extent of my artistic ability lol
The rocking chair was my late nan’s; I’ve had it in storage for 15 years hoping that one day I could use it for a nursery. It was pine so we stripped it and painted it along with the other furniture. The blanket is so squishy (but fluffs over everything! Lol) £40 from Primark but I’ve seen them on eBay too. And I think the outfits were either Asda/H&M and the little cardi was Tesco.
Thankfully I wanted to get everything done pretty quickly so I’ve not had to source anything during lockdown.
Hope you’re doing ok and feeling alright xx

@HelloItsmeAgain1 IKEA do Bekvam spice racks that you can use. I think they're out of stock but they're on EBay for about £10.

All these lovely rooms have been created but I'm curious what did you do with the crap stuff that was in the room before you made it in to a baby's room?

bluehague · 03/05/2020 11:34

@MrsRose2018 hand drawn but copied the idea from Pinterest. If anyone else is interested and needing to change furniture I would definitely recommend chalk paint then changing handles, I've just bought these for DS wardrobe doors

What lovely Nursery's you have all done, it’s such a special time getting ready for your first baby.

I’m had my first baby mid 1980’s and I but him Straight in The nursery from the first night I bought him home, but in the olden days you got to stay in hospital for a whole week to recover and the baby’s went in the nursery at night and the midwife woke you up when your baby need feed, so I just carried on doing that when I got home, also my husband said he had not spent a bloody ton of money and time on doing a nursery up for the baby to sleep on our room.

As the saying goes different times!!

The first year just goes so fast!! So enjoy every minute of this special time.

tootiredtoclean · 03/05/2020 12:17

@MrsRose2018 I can remember seeing them on some Instagram stories a while back. Nowhere near decorating a nursery yet but I love getting ideas.

I think your ones hold more books though and they look amazing! The spice racks only hold a few

Amelietaylor · 03/05/2020 12:48

More beautiful rooms 😊

MrsRose2018 · 03/05/2020 12:57

@delbelleber we only bought and moved into this house July last year and we were renting before that! Also first baby so crap was probably less than a lot of people!

I did have to make DH do a massive cull of a lot of our shit though as he's a bit of a pack rat!! 😂

We actually had a loft hatch installed and the loft boarded just before lock down happened so a LOT of the junk is up there! It was about 1200 but it's honestly the best thing we have done to the house since moving in!! Compete life and space saver

OP posts:
Delbelleber · 03/05/2020 13:04

Ah I would love to make use of my loft space! It's just a wide open space with next door though so I'm not putting anything up there. I'd have to get a wall installed and put flooring down. So many things I'd like to do with my house. What I need is a handy man! But no, it's just me!

NameChange30 · 03/05/2020 13:30

YY we got extra boards put in the loft and a ladder installed when I was pregnant with DC1, very handy for storing stuff when we cleared the room!

We have a similar problem now, there is a room we mostly use for storage that we need to clear out so we can turn it into an office. Then we can use bedroom 3 (currently office) into baby's room.

NameChange30 · 03/05/2020 13:32

Delbelleber
I wonder if your neighbour would go halves with you on the cost of a tradesperson to board the loft space and install a partition? I guess you might have to check fire regulations or something in case the partition would be an issue.

mamasiz · 03/05/2020 13:37

That’s one beautiful nursery! It looks so cosy and cute.

Delbelleber · 03/05/2020 13:40

@NameChange30 I have no idea who owns that house. I think it might be let out by the council because it seems like people live in it for a few months like temporary accommodation then move on.

MrsRose2018 · 03/05/2020 13:50

@Delbelleber that's such a shame and so frustrating!! I honestly don't know what we would do for storage if we didn't have the loft! It's to the rafters full!!

What do you have in your nursery room right now? I'm really brutal when it comes to throwing things away/culling the crap! If it's not sentimental, hasn't been used for a year maximum or has a genuine -and definite intended use - e.g Christmas tree, holiday luggage etc, it goes!

Except books... you must never throw books out 😂

Such beautiful nurseries ladies!! Definitely some nursery envy going on!

I'm expecting #3 in July so our nursery has been recycled over about 6 years and one corner has sadly become a dump/storage area which ruins the effect a little.

I agree with having nursery ready ahead of time as I wasn't expecting my dd2 to be such a magnificent sleeper and she was sleeping 7pm-7am from about 2 months old. So she moved into her cot/nursery from just under 4 months!
And was having all her naps in there too!

Delbelleber · 03/05/2020 14:19

Asides from my baby stuff I've got 2 clothes horses for drying and some tins of paint and painting equipment. Also a big old wardrobe filled with bed sheets and towels.

MrsRose2018 · 03/05/2020 14:39

Hmmm....

Do you want to keep the wardrobe? If not break that apart if you feel able or get someone to do that for you and then you can pop that under something in the garden (if you have one) and dispose when tips are open?

Paint do you need it or want it? Dispose if not or let it live in the garden if you do! It won't get spoilt if it's covered tightly!

Our clothes horses live behind the sofa and/or under the bed depending on where we unfold the laundry/who does it

And bedsheets and towels are in these boxes, a large laundry basket in the bathroom and a vac packed one under the bed
