We have finally finished the nursery for our first baby (minus the wooden letters spelling out his name above the cot!).

Show me pictures of yours!!

Lovely nursery, I always wished I'd done mine before my babies came as I was too tired to put much effort into it once they were old enough to go in there!!

babyboy20 · 02/05/2020 15:51

@MrsMyreton I got the bouncer in mother care just before it shut down! I would've loved one of those 4moms ones that seem to do all the tricks though xx

Nelbert19 · 02/05/2020 15:52

Don’t worry Mrs Rose, you don’t have to feel bad about being excited and having a beautiful nursery! It’s gorgeous, well done!

I’ve gone for a very similar theme (also an overexcited FTM who will have baby in my room for first 6 months). Was very proud of my hand painted birch trees! No cot yet, husband drew the line there seeing as we already have a bedside crib 🙈

@Nelbert19 you've done a lovely job too, very impressed with the hand painted trees! Fantastic! Flowers

Thefaceofboe · 02/05/2020 16:10

It’s lovely!!! Exactly what I’d want

nauseaandnipples · 02/05/2020 16:15

My baby is almost 4 now so his 'nursery' is looking a little battered now. Now pg with second but we'll be switching rooms about so probably don't do a nursery for this one until after it's born.

However with my first we started ours after 20 weeks too. I used to love sitting in it on mat leave and looking at all the baby things before he came. He was in our room til 6 months too but we did use nursery to change him during day or id sit in nursing chair to feed him. We also had all his clothes in his wardrobe and nappies etc in drawers so it was useful Smile

nauseaandnipples · 02/05/2020 16:18

Oh and we've got white furniture in it but if I was to buy again I'd go for similar to yours. White furniture gets dirty so I'm regretting it.

watermelonsuger · 02/05/2020 16:20

@Nelbert19 sorry to jump on but those trees are lovely!! Do you mind me asking where you got the green base colour from? We've been looking for something similar but had no luck!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 02/05/2020 16:23

I will post a picture when DH and I get around to doing DC2’s nursery. DH is using the room as an office at the moment.

Yours looks beautiful!

zscaler · 02/05/2020 16:35

That is really lovely! The tree is a beautiful touch.

It’s too early for us to start yet but I think we will go for white walls and furniture and then a bright rainbow theme for the shelves / cushions / rugs / accessories etc. I have lots of lovely prints and things so I want to do a gallery wall with frames in all different rainbow colours.

ticktackted · 02/05/2020 16:43

OP, it's gorgeous! I've started planning ours but we still have some of our old lodger's stuff (she moved on the cusp of lockdown so left some non-essentials) and we need some plastering & a carpet, which we can't do yet. Then I'm also thinking of a white with rainbow theme like @zscaler - I think it'll be fab, suit for a few years beyond babyhood & flexible if we have a second child of different sex & they share!

MindBoggles · 02/05/2020 16:49

This is gorgeous we never made a nursery straight away because baby was with us - but I think it's a lovely thing to do and wish I had done it early on. I mean it did all eventually get done - both babies moved out around 7 months so then we got some lovely curtains and stickers for the walls

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 16:55

@MrsRose2018 it is absolutely stunning! And ignore anyone who is being down on doing it before the baby is six months. On my 4th pregnancy here and I can tell them that you will have zero time to do it after the baby, especially after six months, they are such a handful then and sleep so much less.

You have made such a fantastic space for your little one and for you both, great storage and you will be laughing at people decorating (I have been one of those people) with a baby in a rocker trying to air paint fumes and sort when they nap.

Your room is set and ready now for the years to come and looks beautiful 💜

Nelbert19 · 02/05/2020 17:00

@watermelonsuger I’m afraid I don’t remember where that paint came from, but it took us ages to find! We painted that room 3 years ago when we first moved in - it’s been a study until now, I just added the trees and forest animals

ChampooPapi · 02/05/2020 17:06

@Nelbert19 those trees are amazing! So inspired 💜

@MrsRose2018 🌈👣

Ladies where are your fabulous chairs coming from? I absolutely love both of yours. Currently pregnant with twins ( I have two daughters already as well)

I want to get my hands on a good breast feeding chair this time round.

And I'm in rented accommodation and and we are very much not able to splash the cash, both of us are currently out of work because of this virus, but honestly the first responses you got were so thirsty. Talk about inverted snobbery and plain jealousy.

We are supposed to support fellows mums not tare them down.

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 17:06

@Delbelleber Wicks do paint delivery still but it seems to be like a 3 week wait minimum for delivery!!

That all sounds lovely! We are having cat issues too! We go in there to do something and without us even noticing/before we turn around this happens!

Thank goodness for clothe rollers 😂

@lilice it's from amazon and it's honestly the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in! I don't like the footstool as it doesn't have a break and it rocks too so I'm not going to use that I don't think but the chair itself is INSANE

@Nelbert19 your nursery looks gorgeous!! A similar woodland/animal theme I see!!

Did you free paint those trees?? They look phenomenal! I have to say bar shading in like 6 leaves I played no part in decorating this room! I'm very lucky DH is so talented and artistic as I am useless at stuff like that!

DH somehow manages to translate the random ideas and concepts I have in my brain and put them into real life 💕

I think we have the same nursing chair! How comfy is it!!?!

It's lovely op. I won't post mine as it might be too outing. 3rd baby is still in our room but her nursery is all ready for when she moves out. I love going in there though everyday to get her clothes etc

memh · 02/05/2020 17:22

I love seeing everyone's idea for nurseries. They are all so cute! We still have a lot of finishing touches to do, but the basics are there.

@memh LOVE that wallpaper, where's it from?

memh · 02/05/2020 17:35

@showmethegin It's from Homebase. The photo doesn't even do it justice, it's really lovely wallpaper.

NameChange30 · 02/05/2020 17:37

Lovely nurseries, ladies! The nursing chairs look very comfy.

@memh I love the wallpaper and yellow walls

@zscaler Your plan sounds fab, I love rainbow colours.

I remember the anticipation and excitement when we prepared DS's bedroom (our PFB) Smile His room has rich yellow curtains with grey foxes, one wall in the same rich yellow, the other walls pale grey, and white furniture. We got a cot bed which is now in bed mode since he is 3 (sniff!)

I am now pregnant with DC2 and baby will go in the room which is currently DH's office. We plan to move his office elsewhere but have quite a bit of work and reorganisation to do first which is very tricky under lockdown with no childcare Sad However, I have decided to cheer myself up by doing some planning, at least. I've found some curtains we like so I think I'll buy them and then try and get some paint samples so we can choose a colour that goes nicely... we want pale green.

It's a small room (the fate of DC2!) so I don't think we'll set up a cot in there yet, maybe just a chest of drawers with a changing mat on the top, plus a compact armchair. Baby will be in the bedside crib in our room to begin with, anyway.

I would like to decorate and prepare before baby arrives, if we can, because I am sure we won't have the time or energy afterwards!

One thing we have in DS's room which I can't find anymore is a blackout roller blind with a metal rod/wand that you twist to put the blind up and down. I can only find blinds with cords (which I don't want even if it is secured safely) or cordless blinds with weird mechanisms make it roll up by itself if you pull it (somehow)... but based on the reviews they can be temperamental. I don't suppose anyone has seen a blackout blind with a rod/wand by any chance?!

Nelbert19 · 02/05/2020 17:38

@memh LOVE that wallpaper!!

@MrsRose2018 yes we do have the same chair, also amazon! It’s SO LUSH! I’ve been sitting in it for all of my zoom conferences 😍 The trees are free hand - just googled ‘silver birch sillhouette’ and copied from a picture

maryd84 · 02/05/2020 17:43

@MrsRose2018, your nursery looks lovely.😀 I like the colour of the furniture you picked.

Your cats are cute. It's funny how they are always looking for new comfy places to sleep.

It will be a while before our nursery is ready. My DP is doing work on that part of the house. Putting in insulation, plastering, new floor, then painting and decorating.

I'm due in August so hopefully it will be ready by then.
