Hi everyone, hope its ok for me to join. New to mumsnet and 9 weeks pregnant today with my first, didn’t expect to get pregnant so quick! Due around 12th December. 😀

Jasminex1 · 09/05/2020 18:07

@danidella congratulations and welcome! How are you feeling?

I wish I could have sunbathed today and enjoyed the nice weather, @Snapper81 DP was exactly the same.

I also feel terrible about the amount of fruit and veg I've just thrown out, I had every intention of being healthy before the nausea came along 🤦🏼‍♀️

danidella · 09/05/2020 18:14

@Jasminex1 thank you. Feeling excited but at the moment nauseas and feeling a bit off today.

Hope the sunny weather lasts. Neighbour said on Thursday it was going to snow!

Marshmallow1102 · 09/05/2020 18:42

@notalwaysalondoner Mr Marshmallow says that Heineken 0.0% tastes remarkably like the real deal if you are a lager drinker!

JadeRuby1988 · 09/05/2020 18:58

Hi all! I'm due 3rd January so I thought I'd join! Finding lock down is a double edge sword for early pregnancy... it's easier for not telling people but also makes you feel more isolated and bored! This is my first pregnancy apart from two recurrent miscarriages last year so I'm excited but also anxious!

calipoppy · 09/05/2020 19:06

@jasminex1 I'm 8+5 so one week ahead of you but still too long to go!!

@notalwaysalondoner have you tried infinite sessions? It's alcohol free craft beer so a bit tastier than others!

RH1238 · 09/05/2020 19:25

Hi all!

Also new to mums net & 7+2 pregnant with my first. Due Christmas Eve! Felt really excited when we first found out but it’s bittersweet that we can’t tell parents yet as we want to do it face to face!

Enjoying reading all of the previous posts, help to put my mind at ease that every twinge isn’t an issue!

SwedishAnna · 09/05/2020 19:51

@notalwaysalondoner i used to work in the beer industry so have tasted my way through a fair few non alcoholic beers, I highly recommend San Miguel 0.0 or Carlsberg 0.0 if you like lagers! Miles better than Becks which taste horrid! If you are in to craft beer like I am then Brewdog does really nice ones and Brooklyn brewery too!

Wine I've found is so much harder, I've tried a few reds but they've all been bad! I've heard that nosecco is really nice though so that's on my shopping list for next week!

I bought a book to my DH for his birthday earlier this week - The expectant dad's handbook. He is loving it and has read half already! Highly recommend it, I have a very attentive DH now.

SwedishAnna · 09/05/2020 19:58

@RH1238 welcome to the group! We're due on the same day! We've told our parents already, my parents are in Sweden so who knows if I will be able to see them this year! I wanted to get advice from my mum on her pregnancy and couldn't wait any longer. I'm one of the lucky few without much bothersome symptoms, just tired in evenings. It was reassuring to hear she was the same!

Jasminex1 · 09/05/2020 20:11

@calipoppy have you had an early scan or know when your 12 week is? I'm toying with the idea of an early scan so that dp can come too

danidella · 09/05/2020 20:38

@JadeRuby1988 i agree thats its easier not telling people due to lockdown. Might have to tell my Hubby's parents at the end of their driveway and mine through WhatsApp and telephone. Im furloughed from work as well so it been easier to hide it from colleagues.

Only 3 weeks on Monday till my scan and then i can tell everyone. Has anyone been told if they are allowed to take partners into the scan? My midwife recommended that i ring a few days before just to check i can.

RH1238 · 09/05/2020 20:41

@SwedishAnna Thank you. Hopefully things will start to lift and you’ll be able to see your parents soon!
I haven’t been to bad with symptoms apart from the odd twinge and also tiredness. No morning sickness so far which I am very happy about! Smile

SwedishAnna · 09/05/2020 20:45

@RH1238 that's cool we're the same then, let's cross our fingers we get to avoid sickness! Can't believe that it's 8.45 on a Saturday evening and I'm going to bed!

calipoppy · 09/05/2020 21:03

@jasminex1 I haven't booked an early scan yet but we probably will do one, hanging on incase the rules change! We don't have a date for 12 week scan yet, booking appointment is in a few days so hopefully will get it soon after that.

I actually did have an early scan last week at the EPU though as I had really bad pain on my right side, so saw heartbeat which was so amazing I burst into tears!! And after that I really wanted our next scan to be together x

Chxrx · 09/05/2020 21:07

Hi all,

For some reason I had a bit of nausea today but just try to eat throughout the day even if it’s something small.

I also tried the bicarbonate of soda wee test 😂! Apparently if you add some to your urine and it fizzes it’s a boy if it stays the same it’s a girl. An old wives tale but we had some in the cupboard and I was bored so I gave it a go! It fizzed like crazy so quite possibly having a boy!

We have picked out names for both just incase!

Hope everyone is well & enjoying the sun xx

notalwaysalondoner · 09/05/2020 21:33

@SwedishAnna thanks for the beer tips! And the book tip! My trouble is my DH barely reads (unless it’s a physics textbook - need) so I’m trying to figure out other ways to engage him. Maybe a documentary we could watch together or a book you discuss together or something. Before our wedding we did the Relate engagement book and it was amazing - normally did it on car journeys so he couldn’t run away! I’m keeping an eye out for something similar.

Jasminex1 · 09/05/2020 21:41

@calipoppy that's what I've thought, a lot can change in 4 weeks! Oh that's so nice!

Just had a little bit of a meltdown purely from being so fed up of being nauseas, dp just looked at me like 👀 what's happened 😂

calipoppy · 10/05/2020 08:00

Oh no @jasminex1 hope you're feeling better today! I can't remember if you already tried but I would really recommend the wristbands, my nausea has got sooo much better since having them!

december2020 · 10/05/2020 08:02

Morning everyone!
Been catching up on the thread!!

I've been trying a few different zero alcohol drinks too to try find the perfect one. I found the red and white wines definitely are just like juice (the lack of alcohol has removed all the body). But for some reason with the rose it doesn't taste as bad as the other two.
The old mout cider (alcohol free) is the closest tasting to "real" cider. Kopperberg is ok but really sweet.
My fave is the seedlip alcohol free gins for G&Ts. They still have the botanical tastes to them which blend well with the tonics (missing the alcohol robustness but tastes quite nice).
Nosecco was also doable. Kind of like the rose (tastes better than the red and white wines but the body is not there).

Yesterday I was feeling a bit hit and miss. Nausea but where it just sort of "stuck" mildly and all day. Managed to fully clean the downstairs though and do a good dog walk. Currently feeling a lot better so hopefully the rest of the day is just like this!

How is everyone?

Jasminex1 · 10/05/2020 08:12

@calipoppy I did order some after seeing so many people recommend them, just waiting for them to arrive! I really hope they work, I ended up being very sick when I came up to bed last night 😖 whoever named it morning sickness was very mistaken!

djmbaker · 10/05/2020 08:54

Morning! Sorry for being a bit quiet.. my nausea has been so bad the last two days 🤢 so yesterday my partner and I just stayed at home, watching films. The sickness bands don't seem to be doing anything , neither does the ginger tea and biscuits 🤦🏻‍♀️

How is everyone feeling?

I've worried myself as well this weekend.. so, when I had my scan on Monday they said everything looks great, showed me the flicker of the heartbeat and sent me on my way.. no problems! But on the print out they have given me with measurements etc, I can't help think that the baby is very small, I've typed it into google and got a few vague answers but I'm just worrying now that something is wrong.. but surely the nurse would have said something at the time??

Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday! xx

calpolatdawn · 10/05/2020 09:04

Im sure your baby is ok djmbaker I think they would have mentioned any concerns, im would like to have a bloody scan date right now! so much bloody waiting about lol,

Rnic1x · 10/05/2020 09:27

@djmbaker aww bless you yes try not to worry they would have mentioned it, I was small (well 6lb 11oz) but they said they class that as small now so said they'll check on my 12 week. They told my sister my niece was very small she has check ups with consultant throughout and she came out a whopper 8lb something 😂 xxx

I felt really sick about 5am, I don't wear bands for bed but I nearly put them on, luckily I think I was just being a pig and hungry cause I feel fine now I've woken up properly. Are your bands in the right place? Sorry I don't mean to patronise you 🙈 mine weren't at first I didn't realise there was a place for them? So as soon as I moved them up it helped so much xxx

Snapper81 · 10/05/2020 09:30

@djmbaker what were the measurements and how many weeks/days are you?
I understand the worry. My ultrasound showed I'm measuring 5 days behind what I thought I was and thos set off my anxiety too x

calipoppy · 10/05/2020 09:36

My scan also showed me 5 days behind last week, I thought I was 7+4 and they said 6+6. I thought that would be so unlikely as I was doing OPKs so I know exactly when I ovulated, it would have meant I got a positive test at like 7DPO!
I googled it and apparently it's super hard to do accurate measurements before 12 weeks so try not to worry, if you saw a heartbeat that's really good as risk of early MC goes down very significantly after that point. I know it's so hard not to feel worried though when we can't keep checking all is ok!
