@katbaby yeah defo try them I just got cheap ones from Amazon they have worked so much. Mine lasted about an hour she went through a big list of things household, work, family history etc, where I want to have baby, what will happen next, and booked my 16 week appointment too. A few questions were rather odd... Are me and partner blood relations 😂🤷🏽‍♀️ x

zhivagodr · 08/05/2020 13:37

@rnic1x 😂😂😂

YahBasic · 08/05/2020 13:39

I’ve got my booking in on Thursday but it’s face to face.

@Rnic1x did they ask you many questions about family health etc? I know DH’s medical history but not so much about his family!

Rnic1x · 08/05/2020 13:42

@yahbasic not in detail they went through loads of medical things operations etc and I just said no to all, from what I know they didn't have any medical problems and partner didn't know either x

ElectricTonight · 08/05/2020 14:01

I know it's a long way away yet but has anyone considered going down the cloth nappy route ? I really want to use cloth so I've been watching YouTube videos for beginners 😂 getting excited now and it's all feel more real!

Katbaby · 08/05/2020 14:03

@Rnic1x blood relations 😳🤢 jesus haha.

I'll have a look on amazon which ones did you get?

Marshmallow1102 · 08/05/2020 14:18

Thanks both! They measured it at 8+3, but said that it might change at 12 week! 😊 I'm just so relieved!!

calpolatdawn · 08/05/2020 15:04

thats a lovely scan congratulations x

djmbaker · 08/05/2020 15:41

Yay @Marshmallow1102 gorgeous scan!! How lovely. It's amazing how much they change size in the weeks as my little bean looks teeeeeny next to yours and it's only two weeks difference. Has it helped ease any worries? xx

Thanks @djmbaker! Yes I feel soo much better now that I've seen the little heartbeat flicker on the screen! 😍 Just rang my dad and sister to tell them, and everyone is crying and getting stupidly excited 😂 my dad opened a bottle of champagne hahah!

djmbaker · 08/05/2020 16:02

@Marshmallow1102 aww that's beautiful , congratulations! Funnily enough my dad did the same 😂😂 think it's going to be a tradition everytime I have a scan now 🙈 xx

Congrats @Marshmallow1102!!

Just having socially distancing drinks and have been asked four times if I’m pregnant. Trying to feign a bit of sunstroke & don’t think I’m fooling anyone.

Little bit upsetting to be asked so many times and have to deny it.

Katbaby · 08/05/2020 19:41

Thanks @Rnic1x il get some ordered 😊 I've just ate a whole pizza and I'm actually feeling so happy about it! Best I've felt all week hahha!! Hopefully it lasts...

@YahBasic I know how you feel my best mate asked me outright yesterday and I caved and told her, so glad I did though as I hated lying to her and I know I'd lean on her for support if anything did go wrong. She's absolutely buzzing for us too!

Snapper81 · 08/05/2020 21:24

Congratulations @marshmallow!
@ElectricTonight I considered cloth. Haven't used them for DD and feel terrible about how environmentally unfriendly they are. They last 500 years!! Experience tells me that the amount of ckothes washing I now get through us already insane and cloth nappies would seriously increase that...and all that washing is also bad for the environment. It's a tough one.

Nic2908 · 08/05/2020 21:30

@Marshmallow1102 that is one seriously cute scan pic. You are making me wish away the days until ours.

I still haven't told anyone apart from management at work, social distancing is making that super easy so I guess that is one silver lining.

We were taking my parents on holiday on 26th june which has now been cancelled so that is the day we plan on telling them!! I cant wait!! Will be almost 14 weeks then so fingers crossed i dont cave before hand.

How is everyone this bank holiday?

notalwaysalondoner · 08/05/2020 23:11

@ElectricTonight we celebrated round us by having a driveway tea party instead of the street party we were supposed to have. Everyone had the table and chairs in their drive then walked around waving to everyone else (at a distance!).

@Marshmallow1102 lovely scan! Really looks like a little baby - mine is at about 8+3 too so hopefully will have some definition to the image!

I told my mum and sister today (we’re staying at my parents for lockdown) - we’d put some fizz in the fridge to celebrate VE Day and then DH and I said “just as well we’ve put some fizz in the fridge as we’ve got something to tell you... we’re having a baby!” My sister dropped whatever she was holding and burst into tears and my mum looked really surprised and said “but you’ve been drinking!!” Was pleased I’d managed to fool them! We’re now making lots of lockdown plans to learn to sew smocked outfits and quilts and learn to knit together! My sister is a Norland nanny too so she will be super amazing with advice for what to get and what to do - we joked she can move in and be a maternity nanny for us (but no way could we afford her normal rates haha!)!

Happy we’ve told them as now we don’t need to pretend to drink or figure out how to avoid rare steak, and it’s nice to make plans - it makes it feel more real!

notalwaysalondoner · 08/05/2020 23:20

@ElectricTonight I’m definitely interested in cloth nappies, from an environmental point of view and also because they’re so cute! Think the biggest issue will be persuading DH, and expect my mum will also be a bit judgmental about why I’d do something that makes more work for myself...!

goldflakepaint · 09/05/2020 00:13

Evening/morning everyone!

@Marshmallow1102 Such a cute scan!

@notalwaysalondoner That will be a lovely story to tell the baby one day :)

I have stayed up late doing an online quiz with friends and now feel tired but weirdly buzzed. I enjoyed seeing them and it was surprisingly easy not to suddenly blurt out 'is the answer I'M PREGNANT'. Need to finish the washing up though and get to bed. Maybe via a bit of chocolate...

When I was changing this evening, my partner was looking at my boobs in a weird way. When I looked down, there was a tiny amount of clear discharge from both nipples on my bra. I googled it and apparently that can happen in early pregnancy but surprised it was so soon (I'm 6+4). Anyone else had this???

december2020 · 09/05/2020 07:08

@Marshmallow1102 yay!!! 😍😍 what a beautiful scan pic! Did you find it so surreal watching the heat beating away?

@ElectricTonight I was thinking about cloth as I like the designs and the eco side to it, but I think especially as this is my first I may use the disposable ones just for ease (no scooping poop off as an additional chore daily and less of a laundry mountain).

@notalwaysalondoner awww that's lovely! Especially all the amazing homemade quilts and knitted items for the baby 💖

Morning everyone!!
How are you?
Sounds like everyone had some amazing bank holiday events! 💖 DH was at work so it was me and the dog relaxing and having a good walk in the sunshine.

I'm feeling so fat at the moment, scared to even try put on any of my non stretch clothes to see how tight they are!! Im hoping just a healthy balanced diet and some exercise means all weight gain will be good weight gain!

Natt99 · 09/05/2020 07:25

@notalwaysalondoner aww you finally told them! Glad they were pleased and it must be a relief not having to hide anything anymore. Homemade stuff sounds really cool and it can be passed down through the generations 😊
Thinking about disposables too, I thought it was gross at first but then looked into it and it seems there's a little liner that you remove and throw away so not like you have to wash a pooh filled nappy
@december2020 sounds like you had a nice day. Feel the same as you on the weight gain, been eating quite unhealthy food as that's all I've fancied so worried I'll get big all over and not get a nice bump! Probably unlikely but also worried about gestational diabetes! Will try to eat more healthy next week!
My bum hurts so much today! We went on a bike ride yesterday and it turned into a 15 mile one!!! A bit naughty as we were out more than an hour but it was through the countryside so hardly saw anyone. Proud I managed it but started to feel nauseous towards the end and got desperate for the loo 😂 will definitely take it a bit easier today!
I hope everyone is blessed with sunshine and welcome to all the newbies x

Rnic1x · 09/05/2020 07:32

Morning everyone, today is a write off already... Got up at 6am to start work - no systems, I can't go back to sleep once I'm up so downstairs on the sofa and I thought I'd watch harry potter... Dp has deleted all my films from the planner 👊🤦🏻‍♀️ I have the DVDs but his xbox (which I play them on) is updated and I can't do anything... Honestly if I wasn't pregnant I'd be opening the gin right now 😂
Anybody who's wearing sickness bands - do they tend to dig in a bit after a while? Like a jumper cuff is too tight? I only have little wrists but they seem to be annoying me a bit today I know they have to be tight to work though.
Happy Saturday everyone 😊 x

Snapper81 · 09/05/2020 08:19

@Natt99 I also went for a bike ride last week. Still got bruised bum bones now!! Blush

@rnic yes, I've had the same prob with sickness bands. I actually dont think they're doing anything for me so I've given up.
