@Rnic1x glad the bands are working too. That's good news xxxxx
Fingers crossed for scan ! X

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 19:36

@dixiedo twins run in my family 😂 but I have no idea... Do you have your scan booked yet? Xx

dixiedo · 06/05/2020 19:53

I have a private on the 24th in Ellesmere Port. I think I'm still one of the earliest on this thread going from LMP I'm 5 weeks 6 days so I think it will be mid June for my 12 week one.

I booked the 24th as I'm convinced it's twins and wanted DP to come
My boys birthdays are in the same week as my 12 week point so it will be a nice week to tell them !

Booking appt is next Wednesday. Xx

goldflakepaint · 06/05/2020 20:00

Hi everyone. Thanks for the warm welcome- I have just been catching up with the thread, it moves fast!

I can relate a lot to the nausea issues. I have been feeling pretty ill except when actually eating. I have dealt with IBS on and off for years though so have some experience with this- light exercise, ginger tea (literally just fresh ginger in boiling water) and turmeric lattes helps me. I think I'm struggling more with the tiredness/bloating/lightheadedness. It's a weird one isn't it, how pregnancy changes your relationship with discomfort. It's crap but also feels like it has a purpose and is also a bit reassuring (I do freak out a little when I start feeling better).

Anyone else struggling with the texture of food as much as the food itself? Had to spit out a slightly uncooked bit of parsnip last night and was convinced I was going to throw up!

@Carabu1 I know exactly what you mean, it feels like I could write an essay on tracking ov signs! Which is why I'm pretty sure of how far along I am despite midwife currently thinking otherwise. Congrats on the 3+!

@Bumble84 Aw it's lovely to hear from someone with such a similar 'journey'. We had also resigned ourselves to a longer wait for IVF and were perhaps not as focused on ttc this cycle (I remember even having a few glasses of wine over my tww).

@dixiedo Thank you, I now have the task of white lying to my friends when they bring up the recent news of the fertility clinics reopening. Most of my friends know that we have been struggling to conceive and I am quite an open person so probably going to find it hard keeping it quiet over the next few weeks! And fingers crossed for your scan and maybe two babies!

Snapper81 · 06/05/2020 20:52

Thanks @Marshmallow1102.
I was on them at first with DD but they didnt work. Really great they're doing the trick for you! I'm going to call doctors tomorrow and try to sort something out.

Tink679 · 06/05/2020 23:48

Hey ladies! Finally caught up with the thread again!

So yesterday at work I actually told my line managed because she had put me in a covid area at work (I’m an ICU nurse) I’d already asked to relocated to the green areas (non covid icu patients), yesterday I couldn’t even manage that (sickness, dizziness, too hot) so I refused to work in PPE and asked for a none clinical role where I could still help the team. Is that unreasonable? She basically tutted and rolled her eyes and gave me the phone so that I could run to fetch things if they needed them, fair enough. The whole shift I had everyone asking why I wasn’t in the unit, I told them I wasn’t feeling well, technically I wasn’t lying. It made me feel so rubbish that today I rang in sick, had a morning of feeling like a failure!

The afternoon on the other hand has been better, I had a random call out of the blue and 40 minutes later (we digressed. . . A lot!) my booking in appointment was done, bloods and pee sample tomorrow and we should get 12 week scan appointment in the post soon. Also told that we get 3 extra scans as one of the twins birth weights was under the 10th centile! I will also have consultant appointments with this pregnancy as I did with the twins and I’ve cleared up all the questions and queries I had, my midwife is also the same one I had all them years ago! It has really made my day and picked me back up out of my boots.

@dixiedo after already having a set of twins I’m scared that this might be another set, they do say you are more likely to have more after already having them. I will let you know next week after our private scan. Do you already have twins?

Rnic1x · 07/05/2020 06:25

@Tink679 ohh god that's awful, 100% not unreasonable... your line manager should have instantly moved you without a second thought. Tbh you could be off for the foreseeable if you wanted and they were making you feel uncomfortable 😡 especially with you feeling ill too 😓 I hope you feel better today xx

Tink679 · 07/05/2020 08:54

@Rnic1x - thanks lovely. I genuinely feel like a number at the moment, usually the teams are great and supportive but everyone is stressed and fraying at the edges. To be honest I would rather not be there at the moment but really don’t know where I stand with taking time off whether it would be sickness or furlough? Might speak to the midwife today and see if she has any advice. Anyway how are you feeling today hun, glad the bands are helping, just be careful of pressure sores if you wear them all the time. X

Rnic1x · 07/05/2020 08:58

@tink679 surely you can go on full sick pay being pregnant can't you? You wouldn't want to risk anything being there atm would you! I feel ok so far, I took bands off at night so it gave me a break but so far feel fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way thank you ❤️ xx

Rnic1x · 07/05/2020 09:00

Does anybody know the best treatment for stretch marks? I know my belly will be fine for a while yet but my boobs have gone up at least a cup already and I'm scared I'll get loads on them... X

Tink679 · 07/05/2020 09:03

Stay well hydrated and moisturise regularly. This didn’t work with the twins (I was huge!) but other people swear by it x

Tink679 · 07/05/2020 09:05

I will look into it whether I will get sick pay or something else, just the thought of going to work makes me anxious at the minute. Think me and peanut need a break x

Katbaby · 07/05/2020 09:21

Morning girls 😊 @Tink679 I agree you need to put you and baby first!

So no sickness in the night last night which was better but was up every hour on the hour to pee. That can't be normal!? Just want a solid sleep 😭😭

Midwife appt is this afternoon nervous to go to doctors surgery but gives me an excuse to paint my nails haha! And put makeup on

Have been dry retching in the toilet this morning think its because I could hardly stomach any tea last night so my stomach was fully empty! Super tired again.

How's everyone feeling today? Also my nips are soooo sore but actual boobs are fine apart from when I get the random shooty pains down them

Chxrx · 07/05/2020 09:30

Morning, hope it’s ok to join I’m due 1st December with my first baby, currently 10 weeks +1.

We was advised by our midwife to have a private scan (as they let you and dp in together) As this is our first baby & we wanted the re assurance and to be together we booked in but when we arrived they would only let me go in alone so dp had to wait outside, just FYI to anyone who has been told the same, as I have had a friend been given the same info which is wrong. (we also tried to phone several times before to double check but could never get any answer) xx

And I also see a thread about maternity clothes, I ordered some from asos and they are amazing quality, since the bloating I can’t wear anything with a waistband as I found that brings on the nausea, they also do £8 maternity leggings which are so comfy & soft!

Lovely to meet you all x

Jasminex1 · 07/05/2020 09:32

@Katbaby try not to worry too much about the doctors, I think they're so over cautious at the moment so probably one of the less risky places to go!

I was sick for the first time this morning 😖 dp came upstairs to find me sat down in the shower in tears, I just hate being sick!

Katbaby · 07/05/2020 10:07

@Jasminex1 yeah I know it will be fine. Currently sat in the garden catching some rays before I go! Definitely getting some food in me this morning has helped. Avocado really is a super food I feel exhausted but the nausea has calmed right down!
Awe I'm like that too I often cry when Im sick haha.

Jasminex1 · 07/05/2020 10:56

@Katbaby I think that's where I went wrong, I didn't eat anything before I got up! I think I just need a packet of biscuits or something to nibble on before I get out of bed.

I'll definitely try avocado if it helps! I'm finding that eating salty things is helping a bit but I know it's not healthy.

Does it feel like the morning is dragging waiting for your appointment?

Katbaby · 07/05/2020 11:10

@Jasminex1 I'm all about the salt too, whenever I have avocado on toast even before being pregnant I would have some salt and pepper on it because it just tastes so good! Yeh that's why I retched this morning I got up to let the dog out and the motion set me off. I had a banana as soon as I got downstairs then my avocado about an hour after that. I've just had an apple chopped up into little pieces as well.

Yesss!! Dragging so much although I bet it goes really fast when it comes to getting ready as I'm just so slow now haha.

Is any one managing to do normal exercise? I'm just about managing a half hour walk with the dog everyday but that's my absolute limit. Last week I was doing longer walks and pilates but can't imagine doing pilates when my stomach is this tender!

calipoppy · 07/05/2020 11:16

I've also turned into an absolute salt fiend, I basically started on a tube of Pringles straight after lunch today!

Exercise you're doing much better than me @katbaby! I normally go for a long walk most days but I'm too afraid I'll feel too sick. I seem to feel better after dinner every night so might try an evening walk today.

Totally in awe of anyone who's doing anything more strenuous than a walk!!

PocoyoandEllie · 07/05/2020 11:23

I managed a bath and shave my legs 😂 just about to hoover and mop downstairs. For the last 3 days I have been heaving as soon as I wake up. Tried sultana bran this morning which was a huge mistake as it is awful coming back up 🤢

Katbaby · 07/05/2020 11:40

Welcome @Chxrx
What private scan place did you use where your partner was told to wait outside?

How are you with symptoms and things with being a bit further along? Tell us there's a light at the end of the nausea tunnel?🤞🤞

@PocoyoandEllie I need to shave my legs today haha need some energy to bend over in the shower to reach 😂

Chxrx · 07/05/2020 12:21

Thank you @katbaby!

It was window to the womb, they have clinics all over, we went to the bexleyheath one.

Yes I promise it does get better the nausea, I tried everything from peppermint tea to ginger biscuits but I found the best thing was ice lollies and loose fitting clothes!
I found weeks 7-9 really hard to eat But I changed from having big meals to small and often & still do this now as it really does help.
I was also craving a lot of salty foods which could mean low sodium levels.

I know it’s a little way off yet but Me & my dp are in two minds whether to find out the sex of the baby, is everyone finding out theirs once the time comes? X

Snapper81 · 07/05/2020 12:36

Ooh I think we will defo find out the sex. We did with DD and it was lovely telling people and getting prepared and choosing her name. Shes currently fallen asleep on me and i have a dead arm!
I spoke to my doctor this morning. I've been prescribed anti sickness meds again. Picking them up today. What a relief!
Interestingly, she sent me this info about who may be more susceptible to bad morning sickness. I wonder how many of us with it really bad do end up with girls.

Hi ladies!

Sorry for being so quiet today - I've been having super scanxiety !! Just back from the early scan and everything is good! Heartbeat is strong, baby is in the right place and the rest of my "insides" are all healthy and fine. Baby is measuring exactly as it should be.

So relieved after the random bits of spotting a couple weeks ago and how my symptoms don't feel as strong as what I read online and on Mumsnet (strong nausea, dizziness etc). So definitely feel very reassured!

How is everyone today?? Ready for the bank holiday?
