Hello and congratulations @goldflakepaint really happy for you. I can imagine the disappointment when you were told things were on hold so really lovely news x

SwedishAnna · 05/05/2020 22:09

@december2020 are you from Scandinavia too? quite obvious from my name where I'm from! I absolutely hear you on the cravings for foods I grew up with, having marmalade with cheese on toast for breakfast every morning now! Not had that since I was a kid!

I have the same unpredictable nausea, feel that the pattern has been afternoon and evening but today it was morning to mid afternoon. Not been too bad though, manageable.

I had to tell my manager today even though only 6+5 as they emailed out about confirming if we have any issues with going back to the office if lockdown eases. My DH and I have agreed to continue stay at home and not take any risks before advice is clear. How are everyone thinking about corona, will you start seeing people next week if it does ease a bit?

showmethegin · 05/05/2020 22:41

I told my boss when I got pregnant in March when I was only around 5 weeks (it was pre lockdown but was concerned). We sadly had a miscarriage on 19 March but I conceived again 2 weeks later! Almost told her today but think we might wait until 15 May when we have our early scan. Feel like I don't want to jinx it, know that's mad!

I also get the sense that she might be struggling with fertility and so that makes me feel really guilty having to discuss it with her. It took us nearly 2 years to get pregnant the first time so understand how it's sensitive IYKWIM

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 06:23

Morning lovely ladies 😍

So well done steak was edible... I did it with loads of garlic mushrooms so the creamy sauce kind of helped.
Nausea is so bad this morning I feel like I'm going to bring my brew up again 😓 sickness bands coming today thank god, heard pretty good stories about them.

@katbaby how was your first day without DH?

Xx

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 06:38

@Katbaby sorry I thought it was Tuesday 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don't even know what day it is anymore... First and second day then 😂

december2020 · 06/05/2020 07:05

Morning everyone!!

Two more days and it's the bank holiday!! Woohoo! How is everyone feeling?

I haven't told anyone at work yet! Keep wanting to tell one or two people and it's been hard keeping my lips sealed! I was hoping to tell both sets of parents around 9-10weels but now I'm not sure if I should just wait till the 12 week scan just in case. It feels so so far away!

@SwedishAnna yes!!! I'm Finnish - Swedish. I've ordered all the rye bread, salty liquorice, cinnamon rolls and chocolate and now impatiently waiting for it to arrive. Oooh are you talking about the famous "squeaky cheese/ bread cheese" with jam? I haven't had that in ages! 🤤🤤 really want that now! There is something about scandi food that just hits my comfort spot - thankfully the husband likes most of it as well (he has a hard pass on salty liquorice 😂)

@Rnic1x let me know how the bands work, I was thinking of getting some just in case. My nausea is just so damn unpredictable!

december2020 · 06/05/2020 07:06

Also ladies, we've already filled up half of this thread as well! Guess we'll be moving to thread 3 before we know it! 😅

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 07:08

@december2020 I will do, I'm finding it coming everyday now 😭 just going to wear them 24/7 and hope for the best. I only told my boss because I get unlimited time for appointments at work, but I don't want them thinking I'm taking the piss too much I've got another appointment Friday and one next week some point so if she knows she won't question where I am xx

december2020 · 06/05/2020 07:25

@Rnic1x I hope the nausea gets better! 😭 Yesss we get the time to take for appointments as well, but I'm currently being sneaky and taking them during lunch hours etc. but if push comes to shove I'll have to let my boss know earlier than expected but otherwise was planning to tell her around 12-14 weeks just so there is no sneaking for future appointments and also if lockdown lifts I guess we'll all be in the "vulnerable" group that may have different recommendations.
Imagine if we had to be in the office during the first trimester! I'd be sitting in the bathroom cubicle for time outs! 😂

notalwaysalondoner · 06/05/2020 07:28

I got my 3+ this morning so am done with testing - 6 weeks today! I’m not planning on telling work until at least 12 weeks, the government advice is a bit vague but my understanding is you’re not at any higher risk until the last trimester, but should be careful. I’m not really keen to work at home for the next eight months but don’t expect my company to be early to go back as we can work entirely from home no problem, it’s more from the team and client point of view it will be hard to be at home when everyone else is sat together. Plus I just got promoted to team lead and learning how to do that remotely would be harder. But of course don’t want to take any risks... it’s tricky...

december2020 · 06/05/2020 07:37

Congrats on your 3+ @notalwaysalondoner ! I'm the same as you, as soon as I got mine it's definitely put me at ease and stopping testing.
I know what you mean with clients and teams being in the office! It's going to be hard - for me, I'm not too bothered about the office itself but rather the commute into London and back (as well as the time drain when I'm already constantly tired - but that's a selfish reason).

Maybe I'll look at travelling "off-peak" some days and then WFH other days and try get a balance. We were discussing this with the team yesterday on how the tricky part will be with anyone recommended to stay at home and how they can still integrate and be part of the team when everyone else is in the office. Same with clients, you'd end up having to be quite candid with them on the situation, which no one wants to announce too early. It's so tricky to balance isn't it!

SwedishAnna · 06/05/2020 07:57

@december2020 that sounds amazing, I had fish balls in lobster sauce for dinner last night, another Swedish delicatessen! Might do as you and order some snacks and chocolate too!

Interesting to hear everyone's take on the lockdown! Agree that 8 months or just being at home feels way too hard! I want to go home to Sweden to see friends and family and all sorts! Guess have to wait and see!

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 08:08

So I've just had to tell my first pregnancy lie... My friends talking to me about maybe trying for baby next year and she said have use not thought about trying yet.... Hmmm no we haven't 🙈 oops! Feel like a naughty school kid!

SwedishAnna · 06/05/2020 08:17

@Rnic1x that must have been so tempting to tell her, well done you!

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 08:22

@SwedishAnna she's one of my closest friends so it was very hard, but I just changed the subject she probably knows but as long as she doesn't make it obvious that's ok. She will the one of the first I tell at 12 weeks anyway :) x

Katbaby · 06/05/2020 09:03

Morning ladies.

So I've hit the 'what the hell have I done' stage as I was wrapped around the bathroom toilet at 3.30 this morning, didnt get back to sleep til 6 with crippling nausea and that was only after I'd managed to nibble a ginger biscuit and sip some fizzy water and have a good cry.

I know I obviously want this baby so much but the fear of feeling like this for weeks on end is starting to terrify me.

Still havent been actually sick but my stomach feels like it's rocking around on a boat.

Feeling extra pathetic this morning, 😭😭

@Rnic1x it's typical he goes back to work when my symptoms hit full force. Don't think he was impressed at being woken up at 5 with me crying...

I am happy to be pregnant please don't read that wrong and I'm so excited for this baby but I am definitely apprehensive for the sickness feelings that are going to last weeks.

ElectricTonight · 06/05/2020 09:08

Good morning ladies ♥️

Really struggling to keep up, I'd love to join in more, I swear I wake up tired 😂I felt like I only had a little dream last night and it was morning again, little ones are keeping me on my toes and I'm potty training my toddler, I can truly say it's not helping my nausea one bit 😂🙈

Lovely to see more people joining, scans and heartbeats 💗

Ahhh steak I could demolish one right now! I also love mine raw I didn't know it wasn't recommended thankfully I haven't had one since finding out!

Has anyone experienced any cravings yet ? Before I found out I was eating all the carbs and chocolate in sight! Now I find myself making jam sandwiches which I'm not usually a fan of sandwiches and haven't had a jam one since i was a child 😂 and if anyone asks who ate the whole pack of chocolate eclairs in the middle of the night it certainly was not me 😉

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 09:19

@katbaby ohh god I feel you I woke up at 2 and thought I was going to be sick, I think I'd feel better if I made myself sick but I don't think that's healthy ☹️ the thought of feeling like this for 9 months scares the shit out of me, some people are aren't they and god this would be my first and last if it was. I'm hoping after 12 weeks things settle down.

I cried so much yesterday, it was the worst day I've had so far, my dad had another round of chemo so I'm hoping it was just everything including that and I'll have a better day today. I wear contacts 24/7 so my eyes are burning from crying now 🤦🏻‍♀️

Katbaby · 06/05/2020 09:30

Oh @ElectricTonight I wish I had cravings! Feel like I'm just constantly trying to work out which foods don't make me wanna puke!

@Rnic1x oh I hope you have a better day today and sending best wishes to your dad!
Surely we can't feel this bad everyday??...

@SwedishAnna reading all the local foods youve been ordering makes me wish I could eat!

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 09:33

@katbaby I bloody hope not, my friend was in hospital for the best part of 9 months being so poorly, I think it's a good sign I just feel sick and I'm not actually being sick though? Some people are actually sick so bad so I guess I can't moan x

Rnic1x · 06/05/2020 09:33

@katbaby & thank you xx

Katbaby · 06/05/2020 09:37

@Rnic1x I actually googled at about 4.30 this morning 'if I make my self sick will I feel better' found an old mumsnet thread where people said because its hormones not actually stomach trouble you don't get any relief 😳😳 I was like oh god. Everyone just says don't let yourself get hungry/empty belly. It's hard when you don't fancy anything tho. I've managed to have an apple chopped up this morning and I feel a bit more human now

december2020 · 06/05/2020 09:42

@Rnic1x all my best to your dad! 💖

@SwedishAnna yum!!! Definitely order all the snacks and foods. It's such comfort with all this. I may even have to make some scandi pies during the bank holiday!

TMI alert: my nips are now so "alert" they're showing through 2-3 layers of fabric (sports bra, shirt) etc. I'm so happy I'm not in the office with this!!

ElectricTonight · 06/05/2020 09:51

I read somewhere that around 12weeks the placenta takes over so nausea and sickness subsides , that just feels ages away doesn't it?

My first pregnancy that didn't happen at all I was really ill and had a girl, my two boys seemed so easy hardly any sickness at all so I'm intrigued to see how this pregnancy goes I might be able to guess the sex lol!xx

YahBasic · 06/05/2020 09:55

@Katbaby if I was in your position, I’d honestly go and have a chat with the doctor. There are all sorts of medication you can take to help, you shouldn’t have to feel like this.

I’m finding little and often helps, so a chopped up apple with two rich tea biscuits first thing, a bowl of cereal mid morning, a bagel for lunch etc so there is something in my stomach every couple of hours without getting too full.
