@MrsR87 maybe my midwife was referring to hard blue cheese then like Stilton!

MrsR87 · 05/05/2020 21:35

@futuredreams

Me too. That’s literally my Friday night lol 😆

futuredreams · 05/05/2020 22:00

@mrsr87 😩 it was all that talk of dinner and the food we aren't allowed. Haha I'll survive.

MrsR87 · 05/05/2020 22:07

@futuredreams

Something to look forward to!

futuredreams · 05/05/2020 22:29

@mrsr87 very true. And the reality is if someone said yeh go for it. I probably wouldn't want it right now. Haha

LozEliza · 06/05/2020 08:27

@futuredreams me too! This time of year I love anti pasti. All the cured meats. Brie. Maybe even a cheeky Camembert. I'm not usually that bothered about pate but I even want that seeing as I can't have it mmmm. I don't really drink but when the weathers nice I always fancy a nice glass of rose or bottle of larger too.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 08:29

@Fouryearslater no, even unpasteurised cheese is ok if it’s hard cheese

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 08:32

And hard blue cheese like Stilton is fine too. The cheeses you can’t have are really few and far between, I’m also inclined not to worry too much as the rest of Europe doesn’t seem to.

I’m not craving booze at all though, which is interesting as I’d usually drink an average of two bottles of wine over the course of a week, sometimes more or less. I haven’t drink since the end of Feb and I really don’t care, I thought I’d miss it.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 08:34

Oh and my blood test came back normal, no anaemia, but I’m still craving meat. Particularly the fatty bits, like fried chicken skin or the fat on a steak 😩

SqidgeBum · 06/05/2020 08:36

I am the same @BuffaloCauliflower . I love my prosecco but I havent had any desire for it at all. In fact, the thought of it makes me feel sick. I find the same with tea and coffee. I just cant face them. I couldn't function without coffee before getting pregnant!

Although I do love pate and miss it.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 09:07

@SqidgeBum I’m not off the coffee, but rationing myself to one big one a day.

I had an argument with someone about store bought crab pate the other day, they were adamant it wasn’t ok in pregnancy because it’s called pate, but couldn’t tell me why it’s different to a seafood sandwich filler that’s the same ingredients (cooked fish, mayo) but not called pate, which is apparently fine. I think some common sense needs to be applied sometimes (the meat/liver pate obviously a different story)

TangBloodyFastic · 06/05/2020 09:28

I'm only just back on coffee. I don't crave it like I did but I'm enjoying my one cup a day! Tbh Im glad of the the caffeine boost as I'm still not sleeping properly Sad

Natopp · 06/05/2020 09:51

I used to drink about 5 cups a day, and now I can't stand coffee unless it's really really milky and weak. I usually drink Oat milk but I've been devouring whole bottles of full fat organic milk.. So creamy 😂🥛but hasn't helped my skin! Plus I'm putting on weight through bad eating choices.

Scan tomorrow!!! Eeeeeek 😁😁😁

and I'm even

TangBloodyFastic · 06/05/2020 10:06

Will that be your 12 wk scan @Natopp ?

I've got to wait until 19th for mine! It's draaaaaaagggging

Natopp · 06/05/2020 10:11

@TangBloodyFastic yep, but I'll be exactly 13 weeks tomorrow! Haven't had any private scans so it'll be the first look at everything. So nervous but so excited. It's been an incredibly long wait and it's finally here!! I've tried to take my mind off it and keep busy but it's been impossible to. Especially given the circumstances and the state of the world! Know how you're feeling!! Just know you'll be there soon!

Does anyone know if I need a full bladder pre-scan? Haven't been told anything by hospital and found conflicting info on google

HarrietM87 · 06/05/2020 10:13

I went off coffee at first but back on it now. I’m drinking decaf coffee and have 2 cups of normal tea per day, which is within the recommended allowance.

Feel like I’ve started showing overnight - suddenly have a bump! Still stressing over my scan results but found some reassuring stuff from extreme googling and think I need to just chill out. I think I’ve been projecting all my stress about corona/work/general life on to this poor baby!

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 10:27

Very exiting @Natopp!

@HarrietM87 there’s a risk and a benefit to the extreme googling (I’m guilty of it too) but it really doesn’t sound like you need to worry, though of course it’s not as easy as just switching the worry off. Please do keep venting here x

TangBloodyFastic · 06/05/2020 10:32

@Natopp yes, you need to drink approx 1 litre before the scan starting an hour before the scan time Smile

EBM20 · 06/05/2020 10:36

@natopp my 12 week scan letter says a moderately full bladder

Natopp · 06/05/2020 10:39

@TangBloodyFastic @EBM20 thank you! My hospital letter says the scan time and location and that's it!

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 10:39

@TangBloodyFastic when I spoke to the midwife booking my scan (I called) I’m SURE she said I don’t need to come with a full bladder. I have some bladder issues and hanging around for ages without a wee is hugely uncomfortable for me

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 10:39

I did need a full bladder for my early scan but luckily that was a quick in and out

jeleigh · 06/05/2020 10:41

@Natopp my letter said to have a full bladder but I think if it’s relatively full you’ll be okay. It’s no fun sitting and waiting when you’re absolutely bursting for the toilet, I always seem to overdo it

When did everyone start buying baby bits or when does anyone have plans to buy? I’m 14 weeks today and I feel like it’s just flying by now. I don’t know where to start to what to start with. It’s so overwhelming 😐

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/05/2020 10:43

@jeleigh my plan is to buy as little as possible! I’ll be buying some cloth nappies and clothes but will probably wait for 20 week scan for those. Might get a pram, most things I’m getting second hand or borrowing

TangBloodyFastic · 06/05/2020 10:53

@BuffaloCauliflower I'm pretty sure you don't need to be bursting as I actually had a wee 45 mins before my scan but was still slightly uncomfortable when she put the thingy on me and pressed - which, btw, I didn't realise how firm they would press down! I thought they'd just run it over my stomach! Pretty sure she touched some internal organs 😂
