Hey all, just got my bfp which puts me on course for a Christmas baby! According to my calendar it will be around 27th Dec but we'll get a better idea once we get the 12 week scan. I've already got a handsome 2 year old boy. ♥️Anyone else due à Christmas baby or fancy some pregnancy chat?

I’m on my 3rd baby, I have never paid for any extra scans. I had scans at 6 and 8 weeks on the NHS with my first as I had pains and bleeding so they made sure it wasn’t ectopic.

I don’t see the point in early scans (unless there is a medical need obviously), you could have a scan at 8 weeks and have a heartbeat and then go at 12 thinking it’s all fine when it isn’t. Some people find it comforting going along at 6 or 8 weeks but for me it wouldn’t reassure me, plus it’s literally a black blob at 6/8 weeks there isn’t a whole lot to see. Each to their own though.

Definitely get where you're coming from on the scans @DontStandSoClose On the day I found out I had slight bleeding then brown discharge for a few days (sorry tmi) so I was really scared with it being the first. After reading so much stuff online and speaking to a doctor I think it's probably normal but at least early scan will hopefully show if everything's progressing as it should or not. If I hadn't had the bleeding I would've waited until the NHS one. Good point about the partners also be able to attend on private ones too

Glad I'm not the only one with the weird symptoms! Boobs feel like they're on fire today!!

SettyBuarez · 21/04/2020 17:26

Hi all, did my test on Easter Sunday and EDD is around the 10th of December. It's my first! Rang the maternity unit last week and I'm now just waiting for them to phone me back. My head knows and will have to tell deputy head as she's responsible for the rota that we're on at the moment and I've had to be removed from it. We're just itching to tell our parents now but are going to wait until I've spoken to the midwife I think.

december2020 · 21/04/2020 17:42

@SpannaNose congrats!!
I did book a private early scan and it's my first! I'm hoping it'll give me a bit of reassurance that everything is just as it should.

Tbug · 21/04/2020 17:54

This is a nice stat if you're booking a private scan, my best friend is a midwife and said if there is a heartbeat at 8 weeks you're pretty much in the clear x

@leannewithadash the digital once can only sense higher levels of hcg which is why they don't tend to display a positive result until at least the day your period is due. Where are you in your cycle? Frers can sense lower levels of hcg so they may show a positive way earlier. I had a bfp with them at 10dpo. I used the clearblue digital the day my period was due to confirm 😊

@Tbug that's good enough for me.
Last time, I waited until my 12 week scan after everyone saying to me that I didn't need an early scan.. and I found out I'd had a MMC. So this time, even if we only see a blob.. a blob that's growing.. that we may hear a little heartbeat is reason enough for me. It all depends how experiences and how you are coping.. I totally understand why people wouldn't want one, for one they aren't cheap!! But it's personal isn't it? I'm doing this more for my partner this time, he is really emotional so I'm hoping and praying it's good news and he can relax.. a little! 🙏🏻

River5675 · 21/04/2020 18:14

Hey guys :) wow it's so nice to see so many comments on here!
I feel so bloated today and nausea seems to come over in the afternoons atm 🤢
I'm appreciating these signs though 🤞🏻 got a long time, well 3 weeks feels like forever atm, to go for an early scan!

djmbaker · 21/04/2020 18:15

@Katbaby I've been nauseous and lightheaded for a week, occasional cramps and discomfort nothing major. Then yesterday I started with really itchy and achey boobs.. AND aim exhausted!! Oh my god I'm so tired, I'm actually thankful of lockdown right now as I'm a beauty therapist so I'd be no use to anyone!!

Oh I know, isn't funny.. time always goes so fast I think, but I just know the next 5/6 weeks for us is going to drag like holy moly. 🙈🙈🙈

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 18:19

@djmbaker same here, I forgot how draining the first couple of months were. Try keeping a toddler entertained at this moment 😂 I'm a massage therapist, I'd be suffering right now if I could work!

@djmbaker oh my god so i came over really sickly about 2 hours ago went to bed had a massive nap woke up with the worst dry mouth like worse than any hangover and I feel soooo sick. Its totally hit me like a ton of bricks. Still waiting on any boob pain tho!

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 18:25

@River5675 yes I definitely feel most sickly in the afternoon at the moment too.

But I agree I'd rather have signs than feel normal, helps me believe something is happening. I've started today taking time line photos so Ive got a little message board wrote 4 weeks ish! On it and then hubby has done a pic of me in gym leggings and sports bra so we can document my belly growing.. And so I can look back and remember my current flat stomach as it disappears haha!

Bethan91 · 21/04/2020 18:26

Congratulations @ArjaD I am due Christmas Eve, first baby will be an extra special Christmas present xxx

december2020 · 21/04/2020 18:47

Just had a tiny speck of spotting as I wiped (5weeks pregnant). Has anyone had something like this?
I'm having a mild internal panic 😞

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 18:48

@Bethan91 congrats yourself, how fab !!! So many wee babies due in Dec, hahaha they weren't joking when they predicted a baby boom after this is over!

Sorry to fret everyone, first pregnancy and everything. I see a lot of people talking about symptoms but I haven’t really had any yet. By NHS dating I’d be just under 5 weeks (so since AF) but have had 5 positives and 4 days late so sure I am pregnancy. I know it’s early but is it normal not to have symptoms yet?

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 18:59

Hey @princessgingy until today it's just been a bloated weird feeling, think symptoms just starting to kick in, but from the ridiculous amount of googling I've done they do say sometimes it takes to 6-8 weeks to really start sometimes. Everyone's different x

leannewithadash · 21/04/2020 19:10

@ArjaD thank you for the advice. I just had to go and get a digital test and it's saying pregnant 1-2. It's such an overwhelming feeling. It's so hard to allow myself to get excited. Hubby can't contain himself.

Wearenotyourkind · 21/04/2020 19:12

Aw this nearly made me tear up @leannewithadash 💕

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 19:15

@leannewithadash awww that's super lovely, woohoooo!
@princessgingy don't worry, with my first I had no real symptoms until I was a few months in!

Nic2908 · 21/04/2020 19:40

@leannewithadash congratulations!!!

princessgingy · 21/04/2020 19:43

Thank you all for your reassurance, just feeling anxious tonight. Lockdown doesn’t help, too much time to think.

@leannewithadash congratulations!

leannewithadash · 21/04/2020 19:57

It's so lovely to have somewhere to chat about this. Congratulations to all you lovely ladies.

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 19:58

@princessgingy time will ease the worries 😊 it would help if this corona thing would die down too huh 😳

leannewithadash · 21/04/2020 19:59

@princessgingy I agree that lockdown is making the anxiety worse. All we have is time to think. Congratulations to you. I pray that we all have safe and healthy pregnancies. X
